Lifetime Kid's Picnic Table

My kids use this table for crafts and coloring as well as snack time. It is easy to clean and has been a staple in our play room for years. They also use it to jump off and do tricks (I'm sure that is not recommended but I have 3 boys and when the Moms away the kids will play). Even with all the jumping it is still in great shape. If we need extra space we can fold it up and put it in the closet. I would highly recommend this product!

This table was incredibly wobbly ~ so much so that we plan to return it.We've owned this model table before (a purchase from Costco) and were very happy with it.Our children used it almost every day.The quality of the table that Amazon sells does not compare to the one we purchased at our local Costco.I'm not sure why that would be.Fortunately, Amazon has a terrific return policy!

Our friends have an older model that didn't have the stoppers on the corners of the base, so it would tip if an adult sat on it.

Ours doesn't tip, and I frequently sit across from my two year old to eat with him. Even my 6'4" hubby can sit without tipping it! (He sits backwards no way his knees would fit under this!)

It could probably seat 6 toddlers, but 4 would be more comfortable in terms of arm room. Great for eating or crafts. Wipes up like a charm!

It's a miniature metal figurine that comes with some sharp edges.However, if you are looking for a miniature for tabletop gaming purposes, you have found something great.I'm always amazed at Reaper's detail. You can't really make it out in the pictures, but actually seeing the model, you can see the care they took with small details.Her face, the collar of her shirt, the pommel of her dagger on her hip.Seeing it in person, you might feel afraid to paint it.It arrived with hardly any seams, and only a few stray pieces that were easily removed or filed down.The item was amazingly easy to assemble.The base has a small lip to it so if you were looking to fill it with something like sand or, in my case, greenstuff, there's something to catch it.I filled it with greenstuff and then molded and carved it to look like wood planks.All in all, I had a great experience and would buy from them over and over again.

I ordered this for a tropical theme party and it was adorable! I bought a plastic pink tablecloth to put on the table and then secured this on top of the tablecloth. My table sits 6 and the skirt fit across the front and halfway back on either side. There is no way to secure the skirt so I used tape to attach it to the table. This is just as amazing as it looks!!

Puzzle Storage for Upto 1000 Pieces

I really like this puzzle saver, it's great in so many ways--it keeps puzzles in place, allows you to store them easily and keep pets (and toddlers) out of your puzzle. It's large, yes, but also very flat which makes it easy to store behind furniture, under beds, or against walls. It snaps shut in a very secure manner, and holds puzzle pieces in place. The board can be lifted out, and there are shallow spaces where you can store and sort pieces. It's great!

This puzzle saver should have 5 stars, but I just have one big complaint about it. It's two inches too short!! Most of my Milton Bradley and Ravensburger puzzles are Americana folk art and measure 22 x 25 inches. This puzzle saver only allows for 20 x 28size puzzles. It's frustrating that it's just TWO INCHES too small. Very few of my standardsize 1000 piece puzzles work with this puzzle saver. Bummer.

I still use it and like it very much. I just hope they release an updated version that fits more standard puzzles! TWO INCHES is nothing! I'd buy a bigger one in a heart beat.

So, my advice before you purchase this is to check out the average size of your puzzles--this may or may not be a good fit for you depending on that one aspect.

I was really excited when my Puzzle Storage for Upto 1000 Pieces arrived.I've recently gotten back into jigsaw puzzles, and with only limited space with which to work in, I was desperate to find something that would allow me to work on my puzzles, and store them safely out of the way the rest of the time.

The Puzzle Storage for Upto 1000 Pieces fails in many areas.Firstly, you need a huge area in which to lay this thing out properly --it did not fit at all on our small(ish) dining table.The reason is that when open, one side of the case serves as the area to work on the puzzle, whilst the other side serves as a "sorting" area with separate compartments for the puzzle pieces.Great idea, sure, but not at all practical for a small dining table.You need an area of about 44 x 30 inches in which to set this thing our properly.

Unfortunately, that's not the only problem.The board itself has a surface that is extremely slippy.I can imagine it would be difficult to pick up individual pieces from such a surface, and the jigsaw puzzle itself would slide around very easily.There are no raised edges to this board, so a lot of care would need to be taken not to cause the entire puzzle to go sliding onto the floor.

The case itself did not seem a very practical means of transporting or storing a jigsaw puzzle.Unless you can keep it completely flat, an uncompleted jigsaw puzzle is going to fall apart as soon as you attempt to carry it by the carry handles.It seems strange to me that the case was even designed to be carried this way due to a puzzle clearly not being likely to stay together when moved in this position.

Also, I dread to think what would happen to all those jigsaw pieces that you would have spent time sorting into the separate compartments.There's no lid or anything to hold them securely in their compartments, and in order to close the case --how is anyone meant to do this with the compartments full of jigsaw pieces?Lowering the "lid" would cause all of the pieces to fall out of the compartments.Therefore, this is hardly a practical transport or storage solution as you'd still need to find somewhere to keep your puzzle pieces (or have them just fall all over the place inside the case).

I was not happy with this product at all, and am returning it immediately back to Amazon.Although it's a lot more expensive, I am now looking into buying a "Jigsort" --this looks far more practical and efficient.I hope it will suit my needs better than the Puzzle Storage for Upto 1000 Pieces did.

I don't have room to keep a puzzle-in-progress on a kitchen or card table, so I've been looking at various ways to store puzzles for over a year and I finally found this one. Puzzle Storage for Upto 1000 Pieces And even though it is pretty expensive, paying for it wasn't an issue because I used the Amazon gift cards my son bought me for my birthday. I waited until I used it for a while for the Animals in Africa, 1000-Pieces Augmented Reality Puzzle Animals in Africa, 1000-Pieces Augmented Reality Puzzle I was also able to buy as one of Amazon's daily deals.

Some pros:

* The Amazon version is shipped in "Certified Frustration-Free Packaging," which is great for someone like me with severe arthritis in my hands.

* The carrier is sturdy, with 2 carrying handles.

* There's a removable assembly board included, as well as 5 partitioned areas in the carrier to sort puzzle pieces.

* The carrier snaps shut when closed.

* Although the whole case is big, it's narrow in depth which makes it less awkward and easier to store.

* It's large, but not so large that it's impossible to work on it on my lap and legs on my sofa.

And cons (all little things that would make working with puzzles easier):

* It is large, which would be cumbersome for shorter people. I'm 5'3" and I have to lean a little to the side to prevent it from hitting the ground as I walk.

* The largest puzzle size it can accommodate truly is only 1,000 pieces; when the edge is assembled it goes right to the very edge of the assembly board.

* You have to make sure all 4 sides of the carrier are snapped shut. Even though I've thought the sides were closed, the first time I used it I noticed puzzle pieces were falling out. Now I know that I have to slide my hand along the edges and snap it shut in several places on each side.

* There are also indentations on both sides of the carrier; I assume it's to make it easier to lift up the assembly board, but they're also easy places for puzzle pieces to escape!

* Although overall I'm really glad I chose this one, the most disappointing thing when I began working on the puzzle was that I'd spent a lot of time finding the edge pieces and sorting the pieces into the 5 partitions, but when I closed the whole thing and lifted it to carry it to the closet ALL the pieces fell out of the partitions and mixed all together again. Lesson learned; I resorted them and store the areas in Ziploc bags. This is why I took off a star.

UPDATE DECEMBER 6, 2012:

M. Swanson' review of the Ravensburger Neuschwanstein Castle 1500-Piece Puzzle had another suggestion that I think would also solve the problem with sliding pieces during storage; he uses coffee filters for each section of the puzzle. Great idea!

Seriously, I have ALWAYS wanted one of these puzzle storage units. As I only work a couple of puzzles a year, however, it seemed an extravagance and a luxury item. I was thrilled to get my hands on this new toy and am, in truth, a bit disappointed.

Pros:

Perfect size for standard 1000 piece puzzles.

Self contained, no more cluttering up table tops for extended periods.

Extra room to sort pieces with a few large compartments.

Closes up for easy flat storage (under bed, couch)

Cons:

Simply not effective for transport unless kept flat.

Nothing keeps pieces from sliding when unit is vertical.

There are two main functions in such a device. Storage and transport. This fails on the transportation aspect, and that's a pretty big let-down. The product description promises that the snap tight case will prevent this and it does not. There are even carrying handles implying that this is a normal expectation. Truthfully, how often do you need to carry your puzzle around? Probably not very often. As a work surface, this is just fine. And if that's all you need, by all means--this is terrific. But I've got to score the product accordingly for not fulfilling its promises as listed in the product description. KGHarris, 9/11.

I got this for Christmas, and decided to use it for the traditional Christmas puzzle we do on Christmas day.

What I like:

1. The compartments to sort puzzle pieces do work, and the pieces do not move when the puzzle is closed.

2. When the puzzle is on the board and the case is snapped closed, the puzzle did not move or fall apart.My wife commented that this is true for Ravensburger puzzles, but not be true for thinner puzzles.

3. The case means no more dedicated table, as we can close the case and store the puzzle when we need the table for something else, or when my very young nephews come to visit! :)

What I wish was better:

1. The trays are not removable, so you can't pass the tray around for other people to fins the perfect piece.We wound up not using them after trying them for an hour or so.Cheap cookie sheets in various sizes works for us.

2. There is no lip on the board, or on the side of the case the board sits on when you are working the puzzle.This means the board can easily move if the board or table are bumped hard enough.We used the board, but wound up laying it on the table and building the puzzle on top of it.We put the case aside until we were ready to close it up.

3. Although the case does snap closed, it is easy to not close it completely, and worse, it is even easier to have it open accidentally.My wife finally resorted to some velcro on the side near the front, which worked perfectly.Should not have had to do that, though.

4. When the case is fully open, it takes up a LOT of space on the table, and it allows the for the puzzle to really only be oriented in one direction.We have a large table, so the case size was not a concern, but the orientation is.

So overall, this case is fair to good, but could be improved with a few tweaks.We will use it in the future to store a puzzle that is half done, but not for much else.It's too bad, as this is a great idea which suffers from some poorly thought out execution.

If you like doing 1000 pc puzzles like I do, this is a must.

Even tho the description says for 1500 pieces, you'll want this one over the 1000 pc size.

Why?Because many puzzle manufacturers 1000 pc puzzles are bigger than the board allows.....only by 3/4", but thats enough, right?

Big Ben 1000 pc is about the only one that fits, and this one fits all puzzles.

Its easily carried from room to room if needed, and keeps the puzzles out of the way when company comes.

I would seriously suggest the "Jigsafe".Keep your pieces sorted and organized and easily moved about.Great products, great company to buy from.

Alex Toys Magic Tracer Coloring Activity Kit

This wasn't exactly what I had hoped for. It's tricky to get everything lined up correctly. I was hoping to use this to get my 5-year-old more motivated to draw and trace, but he isn't willing to take the time to get it to work. It's harder than using tracing paper on a light box.

This might be great fun for a child who already likes to draw and trace and who has the patience to adjust the panels to the correct angles and keep them there. That just doesn't describe my son.

Although I'm not a kid (in fact I'm a grown woman), this was given to me as a gift to help out with my (very small) art skills. I agree with the previous review. This DOES take patience (and some practice) to master, but it isn't impossible. Also, it's WAY WAY better than Digi-draw, for the Magic Tracer is simple to put together, the trace mirror/reflector stays in place, and you can easily adjust it to help you out even more. The ONLY bad thing about the Magic Tracer is that it come with JUST ONE trace mirror/reflector, meaning if you break it...you're screwed! So be sure to take good care of it. ^_^

For years I've wanted a high quality train around the 'ol Christmas tree.I've had HO sets in the past that my kids loved playing with, complete with a lighted village, tunnels, cars, etc.I decided to step up after reading the reviews on several of the Lionel sets.Today, I joined the few that weren't all that impressed.When I purchased it 2 wks ago, it was $186 thru Amazon.Now, it's $169.Shucks.The description talks of a whistle and puffing smoke.The train is so loud you can't hardly hear the whistle.Believe me, if you don't listen hard, you won't hear the whistle.Maybe mine's faulty.It works, but lousily (if that's a word).The steam generator puts out a whisp that if you get down really close and watch the train go by, you might see it.The transformer is plastic and does not have an On/Off switch.Yep, you need to unplug the set.The transformer has a "bell" button.But, guess what, the train in the set doesn't have a bell.I'll keep the set.I'll build the terrain.The grandkids will have a blast with it.

Growing up in the 50s, every kid had a train set.Most of my friends had Lionel. HO hadn't really become popular yet so the big O gauge trains were pretty much standard. Although no model trains are suitable for very young children, the bigger, sturdier O gauge are easier to handle and will hold up.I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer Freight Train Set.In all honesty, it is a better example of imported merchandise.The Pennsylvania Flyer set is minimal but absolutely perfect for under your Christmas tree. It fits on a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood with room to spare.Set up is so easy you could wait until the children or grandchildren went to bed on Christmas Eve, assemble the track (very easy) and have a working train Christmas morning.There's a lot to be said about a kid's first look at a train under the Christmas tree. Priceless.Lots of grownup grins, too. The promo material isstraightforward. Solidly packaged, everything was there and works. No surprises.I have to say, when I hit the whistle button on the transformer and the first puffs of smoke came out of the locomotive stack, I got a lump in my throat and for a few seconds I was ten years old again.

We purchased this train set last year as an "extra" present. Just something fun that we could all enjoy together.I couldn't be more pleased with the investment. 2 adults in our 30's, a 3/4 year old girl, a 5/6 year old girl, and a 8/9 year old boy have enojyed playing with the basic set for a year now. I even brought the set to a cub scout meeting and had the boys design buildings out of boxes, it was one of the best meetings all year.

O scale-

We chose not to go with the HO because of the small size. We wanted our entire family to be able to use it, and our youngest was 3 at the time of purchase.In spite of some fine motor difficulties, she was able to put the train back on track more than half the time.Our (then) 8 year old son was able to consistantly put the train back on from the first week. The size is also a little easier to build models for because shoe boxes seem to be just the right size ;)

Track-

I have found the track to be durable, even when the train was attacked by our very confused dog. All 3 children can now assemble the track for playtime, though the younger 2 still need help with disassembly.Additional pieces are easy to find at our local hobby shop.

Controls-

Very basic. The control box is set up to automatically change from forward to neutral to reverse each time you throttle back to "zero".This setting can be changed at the locomotive. My husband and I both would like a more versatile controller, but are satisfied with this one until we are rready to set up a more permenant display.We have had no issue with the operation in spite of being trampled and manhandled by children, and stepped on by a dog.

Smoke-

Production could be better, and is relative to train speed (the faster it goes, the more smoke it has). Unfortunately, when it is going fast enough for more smoke, the speed creates a current that disperses the smoke and makes it hard to see. The liquid smoke bottle that came with it was more than enough for many hours of use (maybe about 20 hours).

Overall, we are glad we own this train. It has been a great family past-time for the amount of money that was spent.

Lipper International Child's Desk with Chalkboard Top and Chair Set, Walnut

Our daughter is homeschooled, but we learned that she felt like she was missing out on having a desk like traditional school children. This was easy and quick to assemble. It fits a laptop or mini keyboard and mouse perfectly. I was worried about the amount of space inside, but it is able to hold her workbooks, pencils, sharpeners and the like just fine, keeping the textbooks on the shelf. It doesn't have a lip on the bottom and I was concerned about items sliding right off, but the top isn't really angled enough for even a pencil to roll off. She previously was very wiggly and had difficulties sitting still, but having this space of her own has allowed her to focus longer. She puts her teddy bear in the seat and "teaches" him as a unit review, something she really looks forward to and has increased information retention.

We bought two of these, and as soon as I opened the boxes, my children fell in love with them. Sadly though, their tears of joy turned to tears of sadness, as the desks arrived broken. Both of them in the same spot (at the hinge that it missing). Amazon offered a partial refund, unfortunately, we agreed to the partial refund (25% per desk), but, now that I look at it closer, I don't think that was enough, as even with some glue and a few nails we'll still be able to see the break. Other than that, it's pretty and real wood. Hoping it's functional, it's still waiting to be assembled, after the wood is glued back together.

Just got this desk today and it was put together in under 20 min. we opted for the walnut finish since my son has a darker cherry bedroom suite. there was a minor scrape on the wood side of the body, but that was covered by the legs. i am thrilled i decided to order this for my son (4 almost 5). perfect for christmas since his sister is receiving a vanity for Christmas.

This is a really cute train set and is easy to set up.Unfortunately the quality of the train is not very good.The couplings on a few of the cars come detached almost every 2 or three times around the track.The wheels on 2 of the cars also detach quite often and we have to stop the train and put things back together.

I bought this for my son's 6th birthday.He loves trains and is past the wooden railway phase, and wanted more than just a train that you turn on and it goes round and round.I found this and read many reviews on it.It has worked out perfectly.He loves the remote that comes with it, the working headlight is fun.It is sturdy and has held up to his play.We love it.

The Good....

*EZ snap track makes assembly quick and easy.

*The terminal/railer makes getting individual cars on the track easy.

*Large, easy-to-understand knobs on the power pack, great for small hands and young minds.

*Nicely detailed 0-6-0 Steam Locomotive with good weight.

*Great Price-Point for those looking to enter HO trains.

The Bad....

*When you break it down, all you're paying for is a big box, a few pieces of curved track and a decent locomotive.The rest of the cars are totally worthless.They have plastic wheels and poor weight and balance.

*Why just a simple circle track?Would it have been too much trouble to include some straight track to make an oval?

*The locomotive is nice, but the coal tender is worthless.It just won't stay on the track.Plus, it's difficult to attach.It attaches to the underside of the locomotive, meaning, you need to lift the loco off the track to attach it.Since the length of both the tender and loco are so long, the railer won't work to insure all the wheels are on the track.You pretty much have to manually set and check all the wheels.(Tip:You'll need straight track on both sides of the railer track to accommodate the extra length of the loco and tender.This is the only way to stretch it out over the railer so you can move both pieces back and forth.)

*The EZ Snap track is nice, but it needs to be assembled perfectly.Any minute little misalignment of the connections will cause the cars to derail or become uncoupled.After your initial assembly, plan on spending a bunch of time disconnecting and reconnecting track sections to work out all the bugs.

*I purchased the track expander set which gave us 12 additional pieces of track equipment including a left-hand and right-hand turnouts (track switchers)After setting up a double oval track layout, the turnouts constantly caused the cars to derail.After having enough of that, I finally removed them and went back to a large, standard oval.I'm attributing this poor performance to the plastic wheels and low weight of the cheap cars.

Overall, I became very frustrated with the operation of this train set.Putting cars back on the track became 80% of the playtime, as that's about all my 4-year old and I did Christmas day.You'll get one, maybe two good laps, then it's back to fixin'.

Plan on trashing the cars and caboose that come with this set.The individual cars and cabooses you can buy on Amazon are a much better quality. They have metal wheels and are nicely weighted giving them more stability.I initially purchased two additional cars, but now I have to plan on buying a new caboose.The one that came with the set just won't stay coupled.I'm so ticked at it that I'm about ready to just see how it looks after a few minutes in the microwave.

Straight track is a must.If you don't want to spend the money for the expansion kit, pick up the cheaper set of straight track.You won't regret it.

This is a nice set in order for you to determine whether or not trains are going to be a hobby to pursue.However, the value of the set greatly decreases when you take into consideration the number of additional items you'll need to just get it right.If my son and I decide to continue, I can see the only thing we'll be using from this original set will be the track.I already know that we need to replace all the cars.Eventually, we'll probably also upgrade the locomotive.

Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway - Sir Topham Hatt's Car

We bought this for our son's Easter basket and to round-off his ever-growing collection of Thomas trains. It is sized just like the wooden trains so that it fits on the tracks and Sir Topham bounces up and down when the car rolls along. However, if the surface is very smooth, such as a tile countertop or glossy table, then the wheels just glide instead of turning and Sir Topham does not bounce. Perhaps some rubber or other tread on the wheels would have insured that they would turn on more surfaces. Other than that, it's a great addition to our Thomas train set!

I am willing to spend more on Learning Curve's Thomas Wooden railway because I feel like I am getting high quality wooden toys.My little one loves Sir Topham Hat, so I bought him the car for Christmas.I was fairly disappointed when I opened the package to realize that this particular vehicle is practically half plastic.Except for a thin layer over the main (plastic) body, the entire toy is plastic.

That being said, it's still a fun toy, Sir Tophan Hat bumps up and down and it seems durable and is a nice color.I'll still buy Thomas Wooden railway toys but just wanted to let potential consumers know that this one has a lot of plastic!!!

Pro's:

1) It's Sir Topham Hat you can't go wrong with the Hat. Every kid loves the Hat!

2) Lovely shade of blue even matches Lady Hat's Hat.

Con's:

1a) Lots of plastic, for something that's supposedly part of the Wooden Railway

1b) All the plastic makes this look and feel cheap no way this one will last as long as the other Thomas trains

2) REALLY HURTS under foot, which happens a lot given how my toddler loves to leave his toys around

3) No magnets to connect to trains.Of course Sir Topham Hat's car doesn't typically drive on the rails but that didn't stop them from putting magnets on Berty the Bus, or any of the other roadway vehicles so why not this one?Kids love the tracks not the accessories that don't go on the tracks...

Overall no collection is complete without the Hat, but they should think about a design that's more consistent with the Thomas Wooden Railway proposition.

My 8-year-old son bought this game and he loves it. Sound quality is really good. But I hope there is a volume control. Some rumbles would be nice too. But overall, it's a neat toy to have it around!

You can kinda check this out for free by searching the app store for "elite commandar".The app is free. It works for Android, iphone and ipod touch (4th gen or newer).The app is very hard to use without the gun but it will give you an idea of what the game is like.It is amazingly accurate and fun with the gun.You aim by tilting or moving the gun.The control is very realistic.It responds instantly no matter how slight or extreme your movements.By aiming the gun in natural movements you control where the gun fires and also the general direction of travel.But you don't control the walking.The game does the forward travel for you.

There's a lot of improvement I would love to see made on the gun, but for under $13 at Target I can't complain.After playing this game for a few minutes I realized that with a little creativity from the designers this could be the start of a really good action game that also can give you a good physical work out.

It also has multi-player mode.But I haven't had a chance to try that.

I give it the highest Amazon rating because of the high fun to price ratio.But here are some improvements I would love to see in a higher-priced version:

A better grip and trigger feel, instead of cheap plastic.

stereo ear buds instead of the small ipod touch speakers

a better battery compartment that doesn't require a screwdriver.

or maybe an easy recharger stand like the ones game consoles use

a more ergonomic ammo-reload button

Actually, the app is free but I'm not sure if it'll work without buying the gun.I now remember that I had to initialize the game by holding a visually-coded cardboard in front of the ipod touch camera.The gun came with two of these coded cards.Each of the cards is different.I can't wait to see what the other card gives me.Probably a different game.

If the free app isn't able to play without the gun, you might want to do a youtube search for "elite commandar" to check it out.

Cool idea but lame execution.Keeps shooting after releasing the trigger.So you use up all your ammo.Reload, shield and gernade buttons are small and hard to push.
