My Little Sandbox Big Builder

This is a wonderful alternative to play doh.It is fun, and easy to clean up.It is also an awesome toy to build creativity.My four children, ages 10,8,5,& 2, spend hours playing with it and the other sandboxes. As an elementary teacher, I would recommend this toy to anyone.Students act out different scenarios and can then write them down.It encourages roll playing and the mat that is enclosed is like a map that I use to reinforce directions.Fine motor skills can also be developed with this toy.It is a wonderful toy for both home and school.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I ordered this sand box. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was made of good solid wood and all the accessories were very life-like. My grandson loves it dearly. In fact when I'm not watching him he is constantly asking when he coming back to Gramas' to play with it. He really uses his imagination and creativity when he is playing with it.Thanks a million!

My kids both received "My Little Sandbox" sets for Hanukkah this year. My son (almost 3) got the digger set. He LOVES it.He's a typical 2-3 year old boy with a short attention span. He can sit at the table quietly playing with this toy for 30 minutes-an hour or more.It is fabulous!However, this is a toy that needs to be played with in a controlled environment. The sand is very fine, and does get out of the box, even with careful play. The set does come with a large plastic mat that you put under the box when playing to try and catch most of the mess.But, some sand will get in the nearby area during play.

In addition, the vehicles that come with this set are pretty much cheap cr@p.Within 24 hours of receiving the toy, the dump truck completely broke.My son was not playing rough with it at all, just typical driving it around the box, etc.And the bulldozer piece was also about to fall apart. I contacted the company and they immediately sent me out 2 additional sets of vehicles at no charge.I was very pleased with the prompt and courteous response to my email, so they do stand behind their products.However, for a toy geared towards young kids they should put vehicles that are somewhat more durable (I have a $1.50 tonka dump truck that he uses now, it is perfect) than the ones they use for the adult version of this toy.

Overall, even with the mess it makes, it is a wonderful toy, especially for the winter months when you can't play outside much or in the event of a new baby for an older sibling to play with while mom needs to attend to the baby, nurse, etc. Well worth the money and a great idea!Just needs a little fine tuning and it will be perfect.

Step2 Extreme Coaster

Santa left a fully assembled Extreme Coaster outside for my almost 4 yr old and was it a HIT!He could not wait to get outside and ride it!In fact, my 9 yr old asked what the weight limit was and promptly hopped on the scale to see if he exceeded the 75 lb limit.Weighing in at exactly 75 lbs, we let him ride it too.Despite the frigid New England air and ice glazed snow on the ground, the boys bundled up and had a fantastic time!Santa is definitely getting "his" money's worth!

WOW!This was the best present for 2007.Like others have said, it takes up some room.We have ours on a sidewalk that is on a down slope so the kids probably roll about 30 yards total and they go into our neighbors yard.All three of my kids love it.My youngest son is 1 1/2 and he can do it but he needs a shove to start.My 3 and 8 year old both fight for a turn so we had to have a discussion about sharing.

Assembly:This is the only maddening part of the thing.The instructions look like a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy.It would have been easier if it was in color as well.I consider myself pretty handy, but it took me almost two hours to assemble.Not all the holes lined up so I had to drill out a hole to make up for one.This is pretty disconcerting, and I don't think most people would like to do it.Otherwise it is not too bad.Step 2 would do a lot better if they improved their quality control.Is it too much to ask for a pilot hole for a screw?Finally, read very carefully in the instructions for the use of the different size screws.There is a little picture to hold the screw against to see if you have the right ones except for the one step that uses the longer size screws.For that step you need to read the sloppy microprint to see that you need a 3 1/8" screw instead of the more common 2 5/8" screw.

The end product is very sturdy and robust.All the kids have been crawling over it.It can hold an adult.(tested and verified)

Safety:It is pretty safe.No one has falled off yet.The car is in little tracks so it cannot go off sideways.The only danger would be if someone is in the way when you go down.The car would take someone out so we made a big deal out of it with the kids.So far so good.

I would highly recommend this toy.It is a hit, but be prepared for a little frustration putting it together.

We ordered this toy and it has been a hit ever since!It takes up a decent amount of room, but it is worth the space.The kids are getting exercise every time they have to push the car back to the top of the slide.My two children (6 1/2 and 4) love, love, love it as do the kids on the block.It holds up to 75 pounds so I know we will get a ton of use out of it!

I can't add much that hasn't already been said. The real issue now is finding one of these in stock for a reasonable price. Good luck with that!

The coaster is fast, big, and fun. My girls love it, their friends love it, anyone young of age (2-12+), race, or sex will love it. It is easy to assemble, light enough to move around on the yard so that one spot doesn't get worn down too much, and it is very durable. Kids push the car up the front of the ramp with the helps of steps in the middle of the platform. They can the climb on, and use the hand rails to take off! My youngest girl is 2.5 years old and already has the process mastered. The car doesn't come with a seatbelt, but there are notches if you want to add your own.

This is one toy that has never gotten old or dusty. I can see my kids getting years of fun out of this one.

UPDATE:

Almost 3 years later and this toy is still working strong! It is in great shape and the kids continue to enjoy it as do their friends. This really is a fantastic toy if used properly with some supervision and rules in place.

This is the most wonderful table and stools.Very well made.My 2 yr old granddaughter carries the stools every where, especially when she wants to see something that is out of her sight.The 'footprint' of this set is very small and the table and stools are very versatile.Since the stools fit under the table there is no wasted space and not having backs to worry about is even better for us.This is one set that will stay in the family long after she's grown.

I had a small problem with one stool leg. When I spent the company an email, much to my surprise, they responded within minutes and not only sent me a replacement leg but the entire leg set for one stool. I really do love the look and the usefulness of this product. My daughter absolutely loves it! My only complain is the legs of the stools. Unlike the picture, my set came with only 3 legs on each stool... Since my daughter is not yet 2, I have to carefully watch that she doesn't tip over on the stools all the time that she is using the table. I am sure that it will be a perfect set when she gets a little more sure of balancing on the chairs, but I was disappointed since the picture clearly shows 4 legs on each stool. I specifically bought this set because it looked sturdy. Anyways, we do love the set and will keep it, we just have to be careful to make sure she doesn't fall over while using it.

A very cute set!We were looking for the "next step up" from the Little Tikes Table and Chairs Set which has dimensions of 24 x 24 x 18 inches.This table was great for my young toddler, but now my 4 to 5 year old, I wanted a tad bigger/taller.The stools are perfect.The Product Dimensions are listed as 28 x 28 x 20 inches.Upon receipt the box was labeled 28 x 28 x 19 inches.When we finally put everything together.It was only 17.75 inches high (shorter than the Little Tikes side by side).Also, the 28 x 28 is deceiving, because it measures from leg to protruding leg.The legs stick out on each side by 1.5 inches.So the table itself is only 25 inches round, the Little Tikes is 22 inches round.So we're so disappointed.The actual style is perfect, just what we were looking for.But I feel we received a table 25 x 25 x 17.5, so I couldn't justify the price as it's basically what we have already, we have returned for refund and will continue to look.

This is a really nice set. I purchased the set just for the stools (I bought an art table that didn't come with stools and this set was better priced than most chair-only sets) but it has turned out to be a really nice and useful table. It is a good size for many different projects: puzzles, arts and crafts, building sets (legos, lincoln logs, etc.). It is very sturdy and well made and very attractive. For the price, I think it was a great deal.My kids climb all over the table and stools, and it holds up really well. I like the stools because they are lower to the ground: great for little kids. My 18-month-old can get on and off the stool easily on her own.

I agree with Mr. Lute ~ this is a MODEL not a TOY (but you can still have loads of fun with it...we do!). The age recommendation (on the box) is 14+. I believe here on Amazon it's 9? Maybe 10. I'm not quite sure about that. However, as Mr. Lute states, you need to make sure your children are old enough, and fully aware, that you need to *play* with the train with care/caution. My husband and 9.5 year old son LOVE this train. We bought it for our son for Christmas. It's set up on my husband's piece of plywood, on a folding table, in our son's room. This set even let's us utilize the engine of my husband's train set when he was small! The track is a snap to put together and is very sturdy. The cars fit nicely, without all the struggle of "setting them in" just right in order for them to run. The knob is rather sensitive to speed until you get the hang of it ~ all of a couple of times using it! We are going to purchase more track to make curves and figure 8's. My son is thoroughly enjoying putting together the little model buildings that came with the train and has his eyes set on some bigger, more complicated models at a local hobby shop. This gets 5 stars in our book!

Even before the train arrived I taught our boys (ages 4, 6, & 8) that it's a MODEL and not a toy! Toys get played with and thrown into toy boxes. Models get set up on table tops and run with care.

We received our shipment within a couple days however the packing was horrible. The train was placed in the bottom of the shipper with some paper packing thrown on top of it. This was fine however the train had no packing to cushion it on the bottom! Despite this everything was intact except the caboose which had a set of wheels that apparently popped off. They were easily popped back on.

Setting up the train was simple. The track went together very easily. We broke in the loco as recommended and then hooked up the cars. The transformer isn't very sensitive so we ran the train too fast at first which resulted in some derailing however we quickly got the hang of it and had the train running for several hours without a single derailment! The tricky part was finding the right speed to get the train up the bridge without it straining but not too fast that it would derail coming down the bridge and around the turn. Once the right speed is found the train RUNS like a champ!

The fun of a model train is RUNNING them. You have to use judgment and exercise certain cautions. You can't expect to open up the loco full bore and NOT have it derail!

Two of our boys are autistic and they thoroughly enjoy the train. We all do! This was our first train and we've been bitten by the bug! We're going to build a nice layout and are sure to have MANY hours of fun RUNNING our MODEL train! Maybe Lionel is the favorite and classic brand but this train is OUR favorite and bound to be something we'll always remember and cherish. Thanks for the great train and incredible value!

The bridge is nice as well.The size of the track is not bad either, adding on soon as parts come in. The plastic cars are okay.The buildings were a little difficult to piece, glue, paint, and put together.(picture of buildings little deceiving.The signs dont come painted either. I was discouraged when reading the reviews of all the different Cars Slot Tracks on the market.But knowing that most of the complaints are very common and user error I plunged in and purchased the Cars version with Hicks included.I want to clarify the problem people have with these things.Slot cars fly off tracks for a reason, not a manufacturing defect.It is racing and the user is in control of the car.You have to learn to slow down for curves and other things that would required any car to slow down and drive more cautious for.My four year old learned it pretty quick and my seven year old was beating me thereafter.We have a blast with this set.The tracks are held together with small clips keeping it from coming apart which is very cool.I really love the set we got and since they are all made by the same company and around the same time I assume all are made as well as mine.Do not put clips in until you are sure you want to leave it all together because it is time consuming to un-assemble the entire track.Also you should have room for the track to go so it can stay assembled.I am putting ours in my shop on a table with guard rails to keep the cars from crashing on to the concrete floor.Now for the TURBO button.Some same it is useless, but after using it for a while the turbo button is a blast.Just bumping it right out of a curve or if the car stops while still on its track is very useful, and how my son was able to beat me for a while.Now we are back and forth as winners.If you and/or your kids are not in to learning to use the toy then skip it.I would prefer to use this race track over building a complex lego toy all day.I don't like spending an hour to build a lego but love spending hours racing my kids on this track.Good Luck and may the best racer win!!!

Ok let's start with the bad. It takes a long time to put together, and the instructions are next to useless, no guide at all really. The construction is excellent apart from the barriers which are rubbishy cardboard and do not last I have already ordered better (plastic) ones from the online slot car community to replace them (why neglect this when the rest is good?) Finally, one car (mater) is much slower and more difficult to drive than the other (Finn). Again, I have had to order another racing style car to replace. But what fun! My six year old could not get around one lap to begin, but then he saw me do it and saw what was possible and persevered and got the hang and just loves it. This toy requires practice, control and finesse. It is not just push and play. It is a test of skill. Hours of enjoyment have followed. All in all, an excellent introduction to the joys of quality slot care racing.

A great deal for $39.99 and we bought two additional cars to compliment the set. Lightning McQueen and Fancesco Bernoulli. Just as well as Francesco sticks to the track and is very forgiving for our 4 1/2 year old.Our 7 year old soon learned that he needed to control the speed and after an hour had Finn, McQueen and even Mater going around without falling off. Setup was not difficult as the tracks are marked on the bottom and there are road markings on top too. Match them to the plan and take it one piece at a time.

Pros:

Well constructed

Can set it up in 30 minutes now and pack away in 10 (first time takes about an hour)

Great cartoon characters

Move the controls to the other side and reverse direction

Hours of fun

Cons:

An extension set will be needed to add variety

As cartoon characters they are top heavy (unless they are a F1 Ferrari like Francesco)

You have to learn to control the acceleration or they will fly off the track

After setting up the controls on the other side of the track the cars race in the other direction.An immediate unexpected benefit was that the cars seemed to stick to the track better.It could also be the kids are just getting better.I highly recommend getting Francesco Bernoulli as he is the real lightning on this track!

...a great deal for under $40.00. (If I had paid +$80.00 for this set I'd drop my rating as the two cars are unmatched to race and you will have to purchase another to compete).

I agree with almost all reviews here both the good and the bad.In general, I'm not happy that we purchased this.The racing aspect is OK; it took some time to get used to the feel of adjusting the speed to control.But my 6 and 7 year olds spend more time picking up the cars after they fall off the track and adjusting the wires under to get the proper connection.But my main complaint is the plastic pieces that hold it together, particularly the braces that hold up the track.When one reviwer says pick a place and keep it there he means it!Any bump will cause these to fall down.Then, when trying to reattach, the cheap plastic breaks easily when trying to lock into place, making it worse.The side decorations are also attached by cheap, easily broken pieces.it's not wonder the price is 70% less now!

This track is built well, but when playing it the cars barely make it around the track no matter how fast or slow you race them. The always run off the track at the turn after the loops.

Hallmark 221697 Disney Mickey Fun and Friends Cupcake Stand

Work like a charm. It was easy to put together. Holds about 24 regular size cupcakes. You could probably squeeze a few more on but then it would be hard to grab a cupcake.

My only gripe is that I wish it was made of plastic. This would make it much more durable for storage and reuse. It would be a shame to use it as a one time item for $6.

Only gave 4 stars because its a little flimsy but it held up nicely. Looked nice others liked it too

Sesame Street Take-Along

I decided to order this Elmo for my 20 month old son mainly because it was one of the few that didn't have a slightly psychotic expression on his face. All of the others seemed to. There are 3 reasons I like this Elmo:

1) There is a reason this one pulls off a more agreeable smile: It is because the mouth is flat (doesn't open and close). I was slightly disappointed by this when I first took it out of the box because it was not what I was expecting, but quickly realized that that is what makes it look happier than the rest.

2) I thought the eyes were plastic, which was going to be a drawback for me, but they turned out to be material, which will be nicer for my son. One eye is slightly cross-eyed, but I think I can slightly train it into a better shape with my hands. It's already looking a little better.

3) The one thing I just love about this Elmo is that it is made of super-soft material. Along with the soft eyes, this is going to be a very cuddly Elmo, so I think my son will like it a lot.

I bought this toy after reading one of the previous reviews, which turned out to be very accurate.I received the plush Elmo today.The mouth is flat (not a drawback, just good for a potential buyer to know), the eyes are soft but sturdy, and the furry fabric is pleasantly soft.I like it, and my 11-month-old does, too!

The toy I received doesn't appear to have any of that shedding problem mentioned in other reviews.There was one errant long strand, easily snipped off, but that's about it.It says on the label to "hand wash in cold water, air dry."I tossed it into the washing machine (using a laundry bag, the kind you can put sweaters in) and set it on delicate cycle.Elmo came out of the wash okay, intact, and no shedding.I then put him in the dryer, regular cycle, in a laundry bag....and no adverse effects.No shedding, color still bright and vibrant.

Update after 17-month old received this toy:I SHOULD'VE GOTTEN TWO OF THESE THINGS, she LOVES it!Elmo was presented to my little girl today, and her eyes got really BIG and she dropped the puzzle she was playing with to run over and grab him!She went to every room with him (I think she was giving him a tour of the house) and took a nap with him...she almost forgot about her usual lovey!Elmo shared lunch with her (wiped clean with a damp paper towel), went on a walk (dusted off quite nicely after a few drops), and Elmo also came with us on a shopping trip today, and took a ride in my purse when I had to change her (good thing he's light and squooshy).She preferred to nap with both Elmo and her usual lovey, but at bedtime preferred to leave Elmo in her toy box.Guess she's saving him for daytime adventures. I should've gotten this sooner!

This is a great Elmo for a baby since he's just the right size, and has all soft parts.My only complaint is that my 9 month old can pull out his red "fur".She's pretty aggressive with her toys, but just something to watch out for.The one I ordered also had a rather strong chemical smell.After hand washing, however, it dissipated.

Be Good My Little Sandbox Play Sets (Pirates Ahoy!)

I was just amazed.My 3 year old son played with this for two hours straight.It's not so boring for an adult to participate with, if you like to rake the sand like those mini rock garden desk sets.There are a good variety of characters to make up many fun stories.He absolutely loves it and complains when we have to put it away.I am back for more sandbox sets.

Be prepared to do a little sweeping afterward if you play with this inside that is the only drawback.

Our little girl is very fascinated with sand and pirates. She is very rambunctious so I thought a tiny sandbox would not work for her. I thought it might just be a big mess. I was wrong. She was so intent on keeping all the sand in the box and playing with the tiny toys that she just stood there entranced. It was amazing, and gave me some time to relax a little before she decided to run around again.

OK--so I knew this would be messy even before I purchased it, but my son is really into pirates, so I figured it could be an outdoor toy. The sand is VERY clingy to hands/table, etc. So indoors could really make a big mess.

The pieces are really cute, but they are very tiny. So I don't think it would be good for any child younger than 4.

All that said--he just loves this toy.Even his 8 yr old sister wants to join in, and it seems to hold his interest a long time, which is rare.The box is very sturdy and is holding up well, even though it got rained on one day! It would be nice if they had included an extra package of sand, since it is inevitable that it is slowly disappearing over time.

Overall, it is a big hit with my 4 yr old son!

We enjoy this table for outdoor fun, snacks, meals, crafts etc.To clean up we hose it off!It was very easy to put together, and very durable.It's legs are wide enough to support an adult on one side without tipping and can easily be placed on cement or grass.The umbrella is a must in our sunny state. The cup holders are good if you have 2 kids but if you have more, they make great bubble bottle holders.

We ordered this one after returning another table that was $10 cheaper and very wobbly.This one is perfect! It works great for my kids ages 8, 6, 4, and 1.It is great for coloring, eating, play doh, and the umbrella is really nice. 2 kids fit comfortably on each side, though 3 could fit if necessary.It's low enough that I don't worry about my 1-yr-old falling off, but big enough to fit my 8-yr-old just fine.It's sturdy, and the seats are not sagging at this point, anyway.This one's going outside--I'm almost tempted to get another one to keep indoors!

I have a 3 year old and an almost 7 year old. After looking at several tables and reading several reviews I went with this one, and I am glad I did. Perfect fit. My son is almost 7 and fits fine, and although he is small for his age I think this table will be a good fit for him for many more years. Easy assembly, my husband giggled that it only took him 3 minutes. I hope it doesn't fade...but only time will tell.

I researched children's play tables for a LONG time. This seemed to be the best in reviews and size. We received on time and in great condition. One problem, ...****this table DID NOT come with the umbrella as advised!!!*** I called Amazon and they said since it is coming from a third party they had no control over the situation. I could return and replace the order. Sigh,...not too thrilled about this. It is a huge box and quite the inconvenience to return and reorder with no future guarantee for success. Not sure what we will do as of yet... :/

Purchased as a xmas gift for my 10 year old. Table is standard quality for any fold up table. Compare it to your average fold up card table with a much nicer top made of a material suitable for playing ping pong. However, if you are considering the price being a great deal because of the extras, forget it.I received one pair of paddles that were decent, and one pair of paddles with a 1 2 inch handle.Not even my 10 year old could comfortably hold it or play with it. I thought it was a defect.The ping pong balls are hollow thin plastic like something you would win at chucky cheese.They cracked if hit to hard and barely bounced. I think two balls were decent because it was very clear that the balls were not all of the same quality. Contacted seller and they were fully aware of the paddles being different sizes.Ultimately, I was instructed to return entire package (which would result in me paying for shipping) or go buy new paddles.Seller would not credit me for either.So I suggested they change the description of the item so someone would know what they were getting and they said they would.Consider all of this as you factor in the price.Or purchase from someone else.Anyone can buy $1 roll of wrapping paper.

The surface of this table is not a hard table tennis surface, with the result that the balls hardly bounce on it.I will be returning it.

LEGO Bricks & more Blue Building Plate - 32 x 32 Studs (10" x 10")

It's a 10x10 inch lego baseplate. They aren't as thick as they use to make them (I could have sworn they were 1 brick thick before), but are still a great product. The flexibility of it lets you bend the board just enough to loosen flat tile pieces.

I bought mine at the Lego website. They are $4.99 each, but they limit 5 per customer (both in blue and green). Shipping is reasonable if you buy 75$ or more (free standard shipping). Otherwise, shipping is $5 for standard.

Always, always, always check retail prices VS. Amazon prices. Sometimes its worth paying more if you have prime. Sometimes, it's not.

4/2/2013 UPDATE: It looks like Amazon is selling this product for retail price as an add-on item! Hooray!

There's only so much you can say about a blue Lego baseplate. It's blue,that's one thing. It's Lego, that's two. And I guess to round it out, it's a baseplate. It certainly fulfills all of it's promise! Admirable! 5 Stars!

The thin baseplates make buildings a lot easier to construct and more stable and my daughter really depends upon them for her building.

In general, Lego makes a superior (if more expensive) product and I don't think I've seen other manufacturers even make these types of baseplates.

They are thin and breakable, so you might want to be careful about giving them to small children.

The price on Amazon seemed good to me.

This baseplate is not as sturdy as you might hope.It's not less sturdy than any other thin Lego, but it's size makes it more pliable.

Just after ordering this on Amazon, we visited a Lego store on vacation and saw this product for $4.99.Amazon's inflated "list prices" got me again!

However, it's a great size for building on, and my kids are certainly getting our money's worth out of it.
