Periodic Quest: A Family, Educational Card and Board Game Set with More Than 6 Card Games and Board

I am a teacher and have been part of a toy testing program for many years, and this has to be one of the worst games we have ever received to test!I am compelled to publicly write this review because I am highly skeptical of whether the supposed toy-award granting organizations listed on the box truly ever tried to play this game. The rules are complicated, contradictory, and much too advanced for the 8+ age range recommended by the manufacturer.This evening I gathered some adults together to try and figure out this game between us we were all university and grad-studies educated (some science & engineering backgrounds), and after 2.5 hours of attempting to figure out the rules, we were all left with our heads spinning!There are major flaws with how the game is played out everything from it being extremely difficult to build the chemical compounds in the card games (they only provide 1 card for each element), to completely reversing the periodic tables found on the game board itself.Please do yourself a favour and don't scare your kids off of chemistry by giving them this terrible attempt at an "exciting" family board game!

My family was greatly disappointed in this game -not because it is overly complicated (it is) or that we don't enjoy or understand chemistry (we do) -but because it isn't fun in any way. Not only do I doubt that the "game reviewers" whose endorsements decorate the box ever actually played the game, I doubt that even the game's creator ever did. The instructions are spotty and poorly written. The graphics invert the periodic table. Even so, we were determined to give it a good faith effort. After a couple hours of trying to decipher the concept and rules (time that included going online to brush up on chemistry concepts), we thought we understood the basic game option enough to give it a go. I wish we had never tried. My 12-year-old son who has an easy grasp of complex strategy and card games was reduced to tears of frustration and disappointment. We strongly agree with another reviewer who warns not to scare your kids off chemistry with this game. We ignored that advice, and now we've got some work to do to undo the damage.

I bought this for my little one for her B'day. Was trying to find a gift which have both educational and entertainment value. This game met my expectations. This product gives good value for money and the benefits certainly outweigh the cost, you are getting a good value for your money.

Its really amazing game in the sense that it makes chemistry learning fun. I remember how hard it is to know which are radioactive materials. You play this game and you will know all inert elements by heart, without even realizing you are learning.

Also it contains a wide variety of games. Chemistry was boring for me and I did not do better in chemistry until my B.Sc. when my Professor advised me to write the equations and then re-write them without consulting books. The trick helped me to understand the subject gradually.

I wish I had this game before. This game helps you build the compounds, discuss the process with peers, and feel as if you are inventing the compounds.

Sometimes you will create fluke compounds as well. But imagine if some fluke compound turned out to be real in the LAB.
