This is an okay starter wooden train set. It offers decent value for the variety of tracks and play pieces. (Note, I found it cheaper at Toys-R-Us in-store than what's offered online.)

The wooden tracks are compatible with other wooden train brands, but they are nearly as nice. Other leading brands have much smoother edges and fit together nicer than these, but they are sufficient for a starter set or cheap expansion set. These pieces work best on a hard floor surface. On carpet, they have a tendency to separate easily, even more so than other brands. The bridge support posts also sink into the carpet and doesn't leave enough clearance for trains to go under it. Plan to use it on a hard floor or table for best results.

The biggest problem comes from the included train. The large passenger train simply doesn't fit this track well. It easily de-rails, even on straightaways. And it's impossible to keep the wheels on the tracks going around the corners. I'm not sure if the wheels are just spaced wrong, or what, but it doesn't work. That's a shame, because it's a decent looking bullet train. Thankfully, we had a few other brand trains already that work fine on this track, so Christmas morning wasn't a bust. But if you decide to go with this set, be sure to purchase other trains to play with on it.

I gave this set a 3-star review because you get a fun town scene for a fair price. Just be sure you have other trains to use with it because the included one is useless.

We like it. The train it comes with works great on the track as well as our Thomas trains. Great expansion set and yes the trains fit under the bridge just fine. I gave it four stars because the tower falls apart pretty easy but we fixed it by glueing it together and then we had no more problems.
