Little Tikes Little Tikes Big Adventures Construction Peak Rail And Road

Little Tikes Little Tikes Big Adventures Construction Peak Rail And RoadMy boys love trains, trucks and building blocks all three of which are incorporated in the Little Tikes Big Adventure Construction Peak Rail and Road set.The set involves trucks and trains that go around on both train tracks and road carrying boulders that you can drop in from a crane yes it is as cool as it sounds! While this set is for ages 2 and up my boys have a blast with it!They have actually been begging for it after seeing it in the Little Tikes catalog! The set is pretty easy to build, everything snaps in place, and there are just a few screws that need to be put in.The pieces stay together well, but I would recommend hard surface floors as we originally had this on carpeting and the pieces didn't stay in place as well. There is so much to do on this set too that multiple kids can play with it at one time.My 4 year olds favorite part is the crane with the boulders and my 3 year old loves to chug the train around through the tunnels. This toy satisfies both of their favorite things and they have yet to get bored of it!

We have had this toy for approximately 2 months now. My son recieved this as a gift for his 2nd birthday.

PROS:

-Keeps a 2 year old entertained for a long time.

-Very durable.

-Has lots of interactive parts.

CONS:

-On carpet, the pieces do not always stay together (I don't think it would be as bad on a hard surface)

-The couplers used to attach the trains together to not work very well....the train constantly comes apart which frustrates my son.

Keeping the cons in mind, I would get this toy again. My son absolutely loves it and has lots of fun playing with it.

The concept is great and it is fairly easy to put together. The problem is that product is cheaply made.My son tries to play with the trains and they are constantly unhooking because the hooks are poorly designed. The kid spends more time hooking them back together to form a train than actually playing with it.Also the tracks are constantly popping up.Basically it is difficult to play with because everything falls apart.

()I recently ordered this item as a gift for my just-turned-two son. His mother wonderfully volunteered to help set it up and provide feedback for this review. The content of this review, therefore, comes from her perspective.

--Mom begins... ---

Okay. First off. This toy is meant for a two year old, so it has large pieces meant for little hands. That's a plus. That's what I noticed out of the box.

This thing was not easy to assembly. The top and bottom piece of the mountain needed to be put together and the pieces did not line up.The bottom had a series of holes around the perimeter where the top should fit on. The top had small protrusions that lined up with the holes.Essentially they were supposed to line up and go in the hole and screws would come from underneath hold the pieces together. It was a real pain trying to stretch the plastic and line it up. The screws were even harder to get in. The angles and tight squeezes had me end up with two screws I wasn't able to get to, and one I couldn't get in past one or two turns. That was a big strike if mom can't put it together because she doesn't have a dad here to do it. Blah.

The rest of the toy went together easy. The pieces are chunky. Awkward, but all toddler toys seem to be that way.

Our son Godzilla's everything, so he walked all over the track. It's durable in construction but one bump and the track separates, which is a strike. It's easy for him to put back together. That was a plus.

He can't operate the crane much at all. That's going to take some time and skill. He's currently throwing a fit because he thinks the crane is stuck. Lol.

The pieces come apart very easily and during play, but our son is have a rough and tumble boy.

Overall. I like the big pieces and the simplicity of it.I think it being so easy to take apart (purposely or by bumping) is good and bad. Our son gets very mad when things come apart, but he's two.It also makes it good for him to put together.I don't know why they made the track come apart so much. The toy doesn't have the ability of variation for the track. It needs to go where it is meant to go and that's it. They could have made longer sections so us adults had less mess to pick up and less frustration for him.

Fast forward to play time... He's been playing with this one toy since he got home and seems pretty happy with it. He has normal two year old frustrations, but overall I think he likes it.

The major faults I had were not really issues to him.

--Back to dad... ---

So there you have it. A few things to watch out for, but overall an acceptable and fun toy for a two+ year old boy who is, at least this month, in love with trains.

()I am really starting to like Little Tikes products! This one seems sturdy and I expect it to last a long time. And as far as fun...it's awesome. My son is REALLY into trucks and trains and construction vehicles...and this thing has all three. The only way he'd like it more is if it somehow also had dinosaurs. There are a ton of things to do and pieces to move and it keeps him entertained for a long time.Definite 5-star product for me.
