The dominoes set is a nice addition to our biergarten at home.The pieces are well made and durable. You can also hang the box on a wall as a display for your game.

This is an awesome set of dominoes and board. The pieces feel substantial, and the colored coding of the dots (versus typical black dots on white) add interest and easier identification. Got this as a family Christmas gift for all ages to sit around and enjoy quick games (good for short attention span kids). Ages 8 to 61 all have played and brings the family together with simple rules that all can enjoy. There is an instruction card for those like me that needed a refresher, and also provides a few game variations. The game board that holds the dominoes helps corral them into one place and does make for an attractive display or easy storage. A knotted leather strip secures into notches to hold dominoes in case. Do not know what type of hardwoods were used for the dominoes, but believe these really are "heirloom" or of an excellent quality that we can get many years of enjoyment!

We bought this as a gift for adults. It looked much better in the picture then in real life. The material is sturdy plastic (?) but the paint job is terrible: sloppy and messy, some dots only half painted, some dots not painted in at all.... and after a dozen games they already show wear. Maybe OK for kids as an occasional game, but not if they are going to use it a lot and certainly not for adults. Not durable at all.

I wanted to give a heads-up to customers who were expecting wooden dominoes, that the only thing made of wood is the case the dominoes come in.The description of this product is deceptive, or to be more accurate, simply false.One would assume that since these dominoes come from Melissa and Doug that they would be made of wood, and it is really impossible to discern what they are made of from the picture.In actuality, they are plastic with a sort of faux wood grain painted on them to make them appear more rustic.The label on the box even claims the dominoes were all "hand sanded".Hand-sanded plastic?I'm afraid so.

Since I purchased these dominoes in order to use them for jewelry-making and not for the actual game of dominoes, I had specifically wanted wooden dominoes.If you are okay with plastic ones masquerading as wooden dominoes, then you may enjoy them just fine.

I bought this set as a gift for my nephew.When it arrived I noticed the pieces looked sturdy enough but they appear to have been decorated by particulary non-artistic people.This may be called an "heirloom" set, but I would NEVER display this or hang this on my wall.The dominoes are not attractive, the colors are patchy and scribbly.I would be embarrassed to give this as a gift so I returned it.I ended up buying just a regular set of dominoes at the store instead.I have never been disappointet by Mellissa and Doug before, but this time I was.
