I have 3 grandchildren and 2 more due in 2009.I previously bought a hard plastic hammer shaped rattle as a gift when they were born.That particular rattle is no longer in production.I found the Gund Hammer on an internet search and it was perfect.It is soft, entertaining for a baby, and just the right size.Perfect!
I got this as a gift for my little year old nephew and he loved it. My sister says that he spends a lot of time whacking it into things, including the cat haha, but because it is soft they are not worried about things getting hurt or breaking. They are just annoyed with the sounds that it makes and hearing it constantly.

My 18 month old son loves this toy! However, the batteries are dying and there is not any way to replace them. That is the only drawback to this otherwise fun toddler toy. An Ok toy. It has to be hit hard to make the noise. It sounds like glass shattering. My 7 month old isn't really interested in it, however my 18 month old nephew loves being hit with it and hearing the noise.
