Disney Princess Royal Princess Tea Party Playset

Disney Princess Royal Princess Tea Party PlaysetPaid $35 at Zellers. Once unpaked we found the backs of the chairs didn't stay attached, the dolls can't actually sit in the chairs, the tea cups and saucers are so small they almost don't exist, and the clasp to keep the castle "shut" didn't work well.

Returned for full refund and not planning on buying another Disney product unless convinced otherwise.

I purchased this for $15, thinking it was the perfect combination of princess and tea party, what could go wrong? Well, first of all, whoever designed this clearly did not actually test it to see if it was actually usable. It's not.

Assuming the chairs could maintain the weight of the dolls (they can't), they are so poorly balanced that merely looking at them causes them to tip over. Also, the chairs don't even fit properly under the table, which definitely doesn't leave any clearance for the dolls' legs, assuming the dolls would stay on the chairs (they don't). Also, the chairs are not glued, and so are constantly falling apart (same with the table).

The dolls themselves are top-heavy and poorly balanced, and the legs are not articulated. This means that if you manage to get the doll to stay on the chair at all, the legs are flung straight out and spread wide, and due to the aforementioned lack of table clearance, cannot even sit *at* the table, more like perched at an angle next to the table. Because of the style of the hair and the top-heavy nature of the dolls, it's nearly impossible to get them to stay on the chairs, as they topple over with a light breeze. The dolls have shoes, but can't stand. They have hats, but for whatever reason, the hats are molded to fit the dolls' plastic hair-do, and so are not interchangeable, and also easily fall have, not having any means of securing them to the doll.

Then there's the actual tea set items. I thought it would be cute for my girls to have a miniature set, because what girl does not love miniatures? But these are microscopic. I'm not even exaggerating, the cups and plates are so tiny that I almost debated using my tweezers to help set it up. My girls can almost not manage them for how small the pieces are. And shockingly, as small as the pieces are, they can't all even fit on the table!

So once you set the chairs and table up, balance the dolls on the chairs, and set out the tiny pieces, which process takes a good 20 minutes, between everything constantly falling over, and trying to manipulate the tiny pieces, then you can't actually touch the thing, for fear that the slightest brush will knock the whole thing over, making you start all over. I speak from experience, as my children have resorted to asking me to set it up for them, so they can have the pleasure of looking at it.

The only reason I gave this 2 stars is because you can take the dolls' dresses off, which leaves them with a bathing-suit-looking garment on, so my girls can take them in the bath. The dolls are the only thing they play with out of this set, after only 4 days of owning it.

I cannot even believe that the positive reviewer has not has issues with this toy. We have two of these tiny Disney princess sets, and both of them had issues and breakage from day one. Fell apart instantly. The dolls do not stand up. The chairs do not hold the dolls sitting down. One of the chairs broke before she even started playing with it and we had to superglue it. For a set that is supposed to be about a tea party, you'd think that the dolls would be able to 'hold' the teacups, if they'd simply designed them like real teacups, the dolls could hook the cup onto their thumbs at least.

There is absolutely NO WAY that Disney or Mattel tested this product before putting it on the market. So disappointing because it has the potential to be a truly fun toy, but the quality is so poor it's laughable.

Same story for the Disney Princess Cinderella and Royal Coach set. I imagine anything in this line is junk. Shame on you, Disney and Mattel!

My kids received basically this same product for Christmas. However, this must be an updated version... theirs doesn't have the cute water fountain, the ornamental bushes, the windows and many other details. The interior is a flat teal color, and the entire "palace" appears to be much cheaper put together than the photos shown of it.So beware, what you pay for might not be what you get, and this was bought at one of the major big box brick and mortal stores. The princesses are two of the usual suspects, Belle and Aurora, but with big fancy floppy hats and the cloth clothes. This was released before the better snap-on plastic dresses came out unfortunately, so they cannot stand (as the plastic dresses aid the dolls in standing up.The dolls can sort of sit in the chairs with some careful manipulation, but if you have bought other mini Disney playsets such as the Moments series, this is no surprise. The "tea party" aspect is pretty much wasted, since the tea set for mini dolls this size are so tiny they are nonexistent.A vacuum can easily suck up the teacups without anyone even noticing. They were so small I was afraid the dog would inhale them, sniffing at the toy.Now that's tiny!

My kids have been pleased with their Tea Party Playset and have played with it quite a bit though. The disappointment only set in when we saw pictures of what the set could have looked like, which is similar but much fancier than what was in the box.

My girls loved this set.The tea set is very tiny, so we found a bag to keep it in when not being played with. They loved the new dolls and dresses. We had no issues with the parts falling apart.

This has been one of the most played with items so far, however I will say I would not have paid the full price for the set, I picked it up on sale.
