Wow!The Colonial model is exactly as pictured; its stand is easy to assemble without tools by screwing the threaded doweled legs into the top ring.I selected REPLOGLE because they guarantee, if returned, to always update the spheres data, so save the shipping container.That being said, note that this unit is a full academic rather than a political globe.That is, the continents are slightly textured to indicate topography, the localization points are numerous, and, locale boarders well defined.It can be overwhelming.Because of this detail and the size of the globe I also purchased a secondary Magnifying Glass (an 8" antique style hand-held type), which BTW I placed under the stand it's a nice needed touch which compliments the surrounding decor.

Really good looking and professional made stuff. It was a gift for one of my sons in Europe it is difficult to buy such globe ;)
