Guidecraft Creation Station Art Center

Guidecraft Creation Station Art CenterWe purchased this for our children for Christmas, and the day after Christmas it started falling apart. The "wood" is actually a very cheap and flimsy particle board, and it isn't sturdy enough to hold the screws which hold it in place!

First, the hinge in the arm that holds up the drying rack fell out, the drying rack (I should mention) also came out of the box with a broken rod.

I called the company, and they are sending me replacement pieces.

This afternoon I heard a crash, and ran to the livingroom to find the drying rack on the floor. The weight of the drying rack appears to be too much for the cheap particle board, the table top edge that holds the screws is literally crumbling under its weight! So now the table top is ruined, and we have no way to reattach the new drying rack that is on the way!

I must say, I am rather concerned about letting the children sit on the stools for fear that they will collapse beneath them!

I was also very disappointed in the plastic cups for water/ paints and the trays. They are a cheap plastic, similar to plastic disposable cups. I give it a month before they are cracked or broken, and I'm requesting new ones.

I would not recommend this art station. I really wish that I had spent more money and bought one that was more durable.

I received my Creation Station Art Center in November (G51083), and put it together last week.We gave it to our son yesterday for Christmas and to my disappointment one of the legs fell off the chair. The green part which the leg screws into completely came detached from the bottom of the chair.I also, was a little disappointed in the storage area of the table.I thought the slots were made to hold coloring books and really they are about 3 inches to small.I love the idea of this table but for the cost of it, I thought I was getting something more functional.

This table came in a million pieces without

instructions and with a broken piece. I tried

contacting the seller without a response. So

now I have a bunch of table pieces in the garage

I don't know how to put together.

This is great for older children, I think.I bought it for my 2 yr old and I can't see it being useful until he's more like 3.It came with several chipped off wooden pieces and some cracked wood. The quality isn't the greatest, IMO, for the price.I expected better and sturdier wood. Some of the pieces are thin and easily breakable, but like I said, an older child might not have a problem with standing on the shelves...mine did! They didn't break, but I took the toy away and put it in storage.I also thought it would be bigger than it is.I think I should ahve gone with a regular wooden table and a couple chairs.

It's very cute and colorful, though.

Update:ok, horrible for any age.The hardware from the stools ripped right off with very little gentle use.My son was sitting on a stool last year when we pulled it out of storage and it gave out from under him.He fell back and hit his head on the wall and required a visit to the er.The wood they use is just not strong enough to hold the thick hardware.

Even before that, once.we began to use the table it all started to fall apart piece by piece.Horrible craftsmanship!

I would have contacted the company about my sons fall and requested a full refund, but I could not remember where I had purchased the thing! Now I came across this by chance.

Since that time I got my son a beautiful round oak table with 2 chairs and it looks like something he will be able to pass down to his children.

Great art table but the paint brush holders in the middle and the bins on the side top are cheap plastic. The kids already broke one of the little plastic cups which just leaves a hole in the middle of the table. Also the directions are grouped together with a few steps to do at once. They don't make it clear which steps go first. I found myself undoing a couple of steps. Other than that I really like the table. The kids already picked which side is theirs and can tell by the color of the seat. It has pretty much stopped all the fighting over whose crayon and paper is whose.
