Natural Soma Cube

I ordered this puzzle cube because it brought back memories-we had a plastic version when I was young.I didn't read the product details very well though, and was very surprised at how small it is.It's still fun and a challenge for my children.

The small cubes are a bit under 3/4 inches on a side (more like 23/32).

Still a good size to manipulate.

The wooden blocks are well made and smoothly finished, with

in some cases a slight but noticeable imperfection in the

positioning of blocks which are glued together, although not

enough to significantly affect use.

The blocks do have a very noticeable paint-thinner smell still,

a week or so after we got them. I am hoping this will dissipate.

I plan on leaving them outdoors in the sun for a while when the

weather warms up.

I got this in the mail 2-3 weeks ago, and it still has a strong chemical/solvent smell. Also, one or two of the pieces were glued slightly off, just enough to see, though not enough to affect my ability to use it.

I had one of these as a child and kept it until my 2 year old daughter decided she liked to watch the trash can lid spin when she threw something in it. Needless to say, not all of the pieces were discovered as she put them in. I looked and looked for a replacement and finally found it on the Amazon site (many years later my daughter is now 24.) I credit this cube as a contributor to my and my older sons (they played with it a lot before their sister disposed of it)geometric skills. This puzzle has brought a lot of fun hours spent with family. Each of my sons and their little sister will receive one of these this year for their birthday's. I am sure it will bring back fond memories as well as provide entertainment for them and their individual families.

These Soma blocks are well made and finished.The wood is attractive such that I don't mind them being out on the family room table for all to use on a whim (much better feel and look than plastic blocks).My family and friends have received hours of enjoyment from trying to solve the puzzles.I consider them suitable for adults down to older elementary school children.
