For the best toy value you can't beat blocks in general.This is a nice small set with detailed columns, steps and caps.It comes in its own plastic tote with handles (but ours was cracked) for much needed storage.However, I had hoped this would match the dimensions of our existing 1 3/8" Unit blocks (i.e. they were 'mini' unit blocks, scaled to match standard unit blocks) but they do not.Furthermore, they are not even unit dimensions of themselves, but are an odd assortment of sizes.This severely limits the versatility of the blocks for making anything but the pictured parthenon and maybe a few other greek looking facades. Nevertheless, our kids have already found ways to add nice entryways onto larger unit block buildings, though the sizes don't match.Overall, I think your money would be better spent on a standard unit block set (such as Melissa and Doug architectural set or a generic set).Unit blocks are the absolute best toy you will ever buy for your kids.

The blocks are really beautiful, but they don't come with directions to build the model pictured and they take some precision to have the model come out right -not a problem for adults, mind you, but not ideal for small children unless they have good fine motor skills.
