This game takes a while to make (half-an-hour), but is worth the effort. This is a playable soccer game. There are bowl-shaped holes in which you place each Lego guy.The holes catch the balls and prevent the ball from stopping in the middle of the field. To shoot, simply tilt back the player with an attatched, spring-loaded holder, and fire. The goalies, which instead are rubber-band loaded, are easy to guide.Since there's only one player shooting at a time and one blocking, it's not difficult to control.Playing this is fun and anyone can win.The set is customizable, so you can make a standard field, an L-shaped one, whatever.Make sure you make this on a flat surface, though. If you want, on your own you can make a scoreboard, ball-holder, and any other accesories you can think of.I recommend this for anyone who likes a laid back game.Read Best Reviews of LEGO Soccer Championship Challenge (3409) Here
When my 6-year old son first set his sights on the Lego Soccer set I was thinking it was cute but a stupid idea. I thought that the stationary players would make the game difficult with the ball constantly rolling off to some dead corner. We just got ours and after assembly, I couldn't believe how well this worked! The flat areas of the field are curved just enough to cause the ball to almost always roll to some player. The players can turn and aim fairly well. Although it's not as fast paced as foozball, this is a playable and enjoyable game.
This has got to be the hit of the Christmas season. If your child likes legos, this is one of the best. The usual picture-based assembly instructions are easy to follow, even for my 6-year old (with a little help).
Another reviewer mentioned the game fell apart too easily. Well, ours was works fine on the table top, but on a rug or other soft surface, it will bend and start to fall apart. As long as you assemble it correctly and play it on a table, floor or other hard surface, it is as duarble and well designed as any lego product.
