I would mention though that they also make a little bit larger and nicer version of this sandbox that is shaped like a dinosaur. The dinosaur version holds twice as much sand and the dinosaur's feet serve as handy little stools for the kids or adults to sit on.The larger version fits three to four toddlers nicely while the turtle only has room for two at most.
When we purchased a sandbox, we chose the dinosaur for those reasons, and I mention this as just something to consider when researching sandboxes.Either one may be the right choice for you depending upon your budget and preferences. Both sandboxes are great--you can't lose either way. This sandbox is perfect when you only have a very small yard, or balcony or deck for your children to play (or maybe at a grandparents house for those visits).
Only two toddlers fit in it at once if they want room to play but often my children sit on the outside of it and use it for sandplay rather than sitting in it.They seem to enjoy this just as much as if they were sitting in the sand themselves.
The lid is great to keep the sand clean and keep out the neighbourhood cats!I've found only on really windy days will the lid ever flip off.If we know a storm is coming we often just put a brick or something on top to hold it in place until the storm has past.
The lid is easy for my toddlers to remove on their own and has stood the test of time with kids jumping all over and bein out in the weather.
I like these plastic sandboxes as well as you can easily wash them down and if you are moving house you can simply empty it and take it with you.
A great little sandbox for a family that has a small space or is on the move.My sister was given one of these on her second birthday, she is now 12, and it was given to my daughter. The sandboxstll looks new.The plastic has not faded, cracked or warped. It has been left outside for years. The lid fits it perfectly, and no water leaks into the sand. The children can stand on the lid without any problems. Also it is easy to clean, at the end of the summer, we use soft scrub on it and put it in storage until the next year.Your kids will love this!

This is a very durable, useful and fun sand box.The plastic "gives" nicely, but at the same time won't break apart, tear or dent easily. Our 2 year old son walks on the sides of the sand box as wellas the top, and both pop back into shape repeatedly.Surprisingly, although the top is held in place by two loose-fitting "pegs",the top stays put in all but very high winds. The top does a very good jobof keeping the sand clean and dry.At the same time, our son can easilyremove it and is very close to being able to put it back on correctly, too.
It's a fun toy, a classic in the making.
We inherited this sandbox with our new house (the previous owners didn't need it anymore, so they left it in the garage). It has survived our son, my niece and nephew's visits, and I'm told the previous owners had 3 grandchildren that played with it first. Last summer, since my son was too young for sand, we filled it with water, and used it as a small pool for him to cool off in. It was the perfect depth for him (he was around 9 months old), and the textured surface wasn't as slippery as most wading pools tend to be when wet. I could easily reach him wherever he might scoot to from my blanket next to it on the grass. This year we will try sand. My niece and nephew used it as a sand box before my son was born, and love that it's big enough to sit in, instead of just leaning over, like some sandboxes. We are extremely happy with it, and would definitely buy another if anything ever happened to this one.
