This globe is beautiful you'll be happy to set it on a table in your living room or library family room it is good looking and educational.My son-in-law is from Italy and he can show his daughter where his home was and where they live now.The light makes everything twice as visible.

With description saying it had a wooden stand my expectations were higher.The arm that holds the globe to the wood base is red plastic and the globe is plastic also.Seems more nursery school than the display piece I expected.The picture makes it look more vibrant, in reality it is a toy.For $50 I expected more.

I got this for my daughters 5th birthday because she is so curious about other countries.She loves it.It's not a globe she will grow old with but it is perfect for satisfying her curious nature now and for a few years to come.The light this globe gives off is wonderful too.I usually turn it on as we get ready for bed and it makes the room very peaceful.
