This globe is gorgeous!!! I love it!! I haven't checked it to see if it's accurate neither will I. I didn't buy it for that, I bought it for the aesthetics. I looks real classy and sophisticated. It looks nice during the day but it looks even better in the night. It is really bright, it lights up my room with a soft golden light, gorgeous! The view when its lit is beyond words, absolutely stunning! I'm glad I got it, took me several months to make the decision, shame on me, lol. Five stars for this baby!Update:
The light quit working after 4 months. The light bulb is a standard night light bulb except it's 25 watts instead of 7, every hardware supply store has them. The Bulb cost me 89 cents not even a dollar, lol. The globe comes off and goes back on easily, took me less than 2 minutes to change the bulb.

A couple years ago (xmas 2009) I purchased the 11" Stellanova illuminated desktop globe and it was from maps made in 2002 (already 7 years old and out-of-date).Now when the bulb has gone bad (E14 120V 25W) I had to order an expensive replacement online.And the replacement bulbs just burnt out after 5 minutes anyway (i guess Europe versus US power, i don't know why the original bulb worked).ok... I discovered that you can get a converter that screws into the E14 (or whatever it is) and lets you screw in a regular candelabra bulb... and Stellanova doesn't sell this globe anymore anyway.
