This was a gift for my girlfriend as she was looking for a solution to keep her bag off the ground in restaurants and bars. She uses a heavy sack type purse that has about 15 lbs of stuff in it.

The hanger uncoils to form a series of links that curve under the circular piece. As the purse hangs, the weight of it pulls the circular piece down on the table and holds it in place. There is a rubber grip under it to keep it from sliding around. As this relies on the center of gravity to keep it down, if you hit the purse or something causes it to swing it can come off the edge of a table.

The metal design is nothing fancy, it looks nice but is a cheap metal. Overtime it will probably take a beating floating around in a purse but the coil design will keep the functionality safe.
