Love this simple design. Yes, it is felt on a tube BUT it does hold your pieces together and is a VERY large surface. If you like puzzles but dont have an entire kitchen table to leave it out on then its totally worth it!I can't believe I spent money on this. You can't move pieces around without destroying the puzzle. I put a puzzle I was working on on this mat, stood up, took two steps, and the sticky strips that enable you to secure the puzzle when you move it snagged on my sock, and the entire puzzle was destroyed. I am just a recreational player who enjoys a daily game of play ping pong at work.A colleague recently purchased a new racket and their game improved tremendously so I decided to take the plunge and settled on the DHS L 402.This is a great racket that is superior to the Stiga Supreme purchased by my colleague.The spin and power are incredible.The loss of a star is due to my only complaint which is the horrible smell of the racket, primarily the handle.Not sure if it is the stain used or what but it smells horrible and if it does not fade quickly I will most likely look for a new racket.
Pros:
1. You can control the ball well, put some spin on it.
2. It comes with one good quality white colored ball, and that is good.
3. The case is pretty nice.It does look like it contains a paddle which works good for me :)
Cons:
There is one BIG issue: The handle smells like rotten fish.I don't know why they couldn't make it smell neutral and it is not even the rubber on the paddle, just the handle.After you play with this paddle for a few minutes, your hands smell like rotten fish as well.

it is a good product. Nice one. Very comfortable to hold and easy to spin the ball. I love it.We purchased a pair of these rackets.The weight is awesome, the handles are longer than some other rackets we have and the rubber is super sticky lots of spin!The 1 complaint is that these things STINK!!Whatever processing is used to create these rackets leaves a distinct & strong odor that takes weeks to dissipate.The case is average.Overall a good product.Just wish they didn't stink so bad.

I think the other reviewer who couldn't fit 8 decks in this shoe must have been the victim of a warehouse screw-up or something--a 6-deck shoe mistakenly shipped in an 8-deck shoe box, maybe.I have no problem whatsoever fitting 8 full decks in this shoe.
The only drawback I've experienced is with the roller--it tends to stall on the ramp. It's like either the incline of the inner tray is too low or maybe the roller itself is just stiff and needs time to loosen up, I don't know.
But it's not a deal-breaker or anything. It's otherwise a decent product and perfectly fine for use on a home table.
The card shoe I received was clearly marked 8 decks.It is the same size as the one I already have which was marked 6 decks.It does not work very well at all.In order to get 8 decks in you have to force them in and the shoe does not operate properly at all.

Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer Freight Train Set

Some of the differences are notable:
The Engine is very nice, similar to our Santa Fe engine all metal, heavy in the hands feels very solid (which is why you get an O-gauge set in the first place in my opinion This is probably the first electric toy a kid will get that (if properly cared for) will last long enough to be passed down to their kids Wheel configuration is 0-8-0, meaning no front or back guide wheels, just 8 powered wheels in the center. As a plus it has someone driving the train inside! and another odd-plus is a working-coupler in the front (you kids who watched "Thomas The Tank Engine" on TV will know what to do with this part!)
The Coal-Car has the same whistle mechanism as our much louder Santa-Fe, and it sounds when you hit the whistle button on the controller and, yes it does whistle, but at a low, kind of far-away tone.
There is a 3-dome tanker car again, nice feel to it looks really great with authentic looking markings and steel wire wrap-around -seems very solid.
A very nice Box car w/ sliding doors -compares favorably with our circa 1997 boxcar, feels a bit more solid even.
Caboose More solid than our older caboose, with a better light/connecting wheel beneath stays lit with a steady light as it goes around the track.
The Track: FasTrack is almost a revelation for people who were used to the older 0-27 and 0-36 all metal track. Note: It does take some considerable force to connect it, so your kids might need some help with this part. On the plus side it works great on floors and carpets and it looks authentic with a gravel track-bed. On the minus side, it is a bit harder to connect and I found it to be noisier than our other 100+ year old track design (O-36 the number means the size of the circle in inches that you can make when only using the round sections.
Also note You may want to consider ordering some extra track sections. This set doesn't come with an X-Cross-over and only has 4 total straight sections (1 is the powered FasTrack terminal section) Amazon and affiliates have it for $6.75 + tax and/or s/h per section, but 2 of our local hobby shops in Queens have them for $4 each (TIP: Shop locally for the tracks!) The included sections only allow for a rather small 40" x 60" layout, which might not be enough to make it around the Christmas tree AND accommodate presents.
Nice touches: 1 billboard and 10 telephone poles (TIP: use Fun-tak to adhere these to the floor for non-permanent Christmas-tree type setups or they will be falling down all over the place)
0.5 Fl Oz of smoke fluid is included. (Hobby shops have a big 4-6 oz bottle for about $6 each when this runs dry) go very light on this stuff as it can flood the engine Use 1-4 drops at a time.
The controller is where this set really comes together It feels much better than the older one and the connections are very high quality. The train can run at full speed (which would cause a de-railment on our older set) which will is certain to delight young and old alike.
One bummer the button on the controller for the bell needs an extra car with a bell function in order to work. (Mommy, Daddy, can we get one? Please!?)
Also: Our older set had more extras (and it also cost more) like a working log roller, button-operated de-coupler, and a working crossing gate. These things and others can be added to this set, but again, for the money ($137 as of mid-Dec. 2011) this is a *realy* good deal.
So to sum up: Excellent build quality, high speed fun with nice touches for a bargain price. Some adult help to assemble is advised (go easy on that smoke fluid! -tell 'em only 2-4 drops per hour) Get More track as 40"x60" sounds big but is pretty small for a train of this caliber from a local hobby shop @ $4 per/track (and maybe an accessory or two) -and you will make this a full 5-star experience!

I received the Penn Flyer Lionel Trainset on Tuesday December 6, 2011.Good early impression of the train.Trainset was purchased to go under the christmas tree.The engine feels real solid and the cars seem fine.The coupling mechanism are plastic though and seem that they could be a bit more fragile that I would have thought.There is no bell on this trainset but there is a horn.So far so good.Also, though the price was reasonable ($159).Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer Freight Train Set

I opened the box to put it together and the wood-looking panels were already peeling off. Ordered this product as a Christmas gift for a child. Was surprised that it had to be assembled. Several parts were either mis-shaped or shoddily manufactured. The product is of overall poor quality and doesn't seem to have had QA at the plant. The primary "field" piece was warped so the players could not move as they were intended. Put the whole thing back in the box and shipped back to Amazon. Not pleased at all with this product and will not buy from this manufacturer again.

Design vs Dollars; dollars wins again.The choice between good design and construction versus costs is a challenge for most people who have their eye on the bottom line.Here too someone decided they should cut corners on the construction in order to keep the cost down.If it's really a choice of a few dollars why not make up the difference in quantity, sell more of them by building in quality.Then this review would have been raving.The weaver is still cool for most pre-teens and teens, maybe even younger.Just using it gives you an elementary understanding of weaving and you can't help but wonder how large textile manufacturers do it on larger scales.But like I started out saying, they cut one of the most critical corners in any design.A single point failure in the ratchet gear mechanism.It doesn't engage the ratchet completely thus it pops out and doesn't hold the fabric in place.I'm handy so replacing the gear mechanism is not too difficult but something so simple shouldn't be the failure of the entire toy.But it is.
So I bought this for myself in order to make cloth as part of tote bags that I gave a presents. I would consider myself an adult :-P and I love weaving on this. The tension thing is a little wonky, but I just retighten it as needed. It's a pain to rethread (which I guess is why they sale refills). The wool yarn is attached to the loom via velcro, which means that you can't use other fiber types.

My grand-girls loved this introduction to weaving! However, as an experienced weaver, I have some suggestions for the manufacturer: the warp should be wound more carefully and 'packed' with paper to keep the weaving more even. Also, if the center support for the rigid heddle (in its upper position) were 1/4-1/2 inch higher, it would create a better shed. The limited shed-space in the upper position, makes it hard to pass the shuttle from one side to the other. I FINALLY got one!And it came already warped with 2 yards of WOOL & 6 bobbins of wool to finish weaving it, which is close to $60 worth of wool alone. This means you can open the box & start weaving! It may be listed as a toy but it's a great first loom & a lot less expensive than Ashford or others by loom & wheel producers. I love it.

It DOES interact with the TV, for example in the "animal abc" game, the animals only change when you hit a key. It is a little slow, and I am not sure my 1yr old is seeing the cause and effect either. The cause and effect she does see is when she pushes the buttons on the sensor!However the music part is great and she LOVES that. She plays and dances and has a great time.
The only real disadvantage is that it is easy to tip over. Now, she does have to intentionally push it, but she's a toddler, so what do you think she is going to do? And she then either gets it pulled back up but hits herself in the head OR she can't get it back up. (Depending on how and where it falls.) So you can imagine how frustrating it is for her. (Oh my! She just picked it up!)I wish it was heavier so she couldn't lift or tilt it.
I have similar issues with other Fisher Price toys. For some reason they can't figure out how to make a toy that doesn't tip. I usually find a way to modify the toy to make it more stable. If I find a way for this one, I will post it.
My initial impression though is a good one. I bought this for my 10 month old son, so that he would have a fun toy to stand up and play with. The keyboard is of great quality, and the three other play buttons along the top are fun for him as well.
The only downside is that the interactive part of the toy that you plug into the TV is currently useless for us. The software is too slow, so there is a delay that currently makes it too difficult for my son to understand that there is any cause and effect happening. He much prefers it in either of the other two keyboard modes, so that he can hear sounds when he hits the keys.
Perhaps as he grows older we will find that the interactive part of the toy becomes usable, but as for now we will just enjoy making sweet music on the keyboard itself.

We took this toy out of the box and had it up and running in five minutes. Our intention was for our 11 month son to practice standing, but also have something lean on if needed. He loves our real piano, so we thought it would be perfect.
It is solidly built, and has great sound when used in stand-alone mode. Keeps my little guy interested for quite a while. The tv interaction has very smooth and almost un-noticeable transitions. For example the color keys will change the background color of the screen, while the animation stays the same.
However, my 3 year old daughter noticed immediately how the keys changed the colors, and she could change the animations using the trumpet slide or guitar roller to make slight changes in the animations and music. I had a hard time keeping her away from it so that my son could use it!
I had to put some strips of velcro on the rear legs, because when used in the upright settiing, it tends to slide all over the floor and my little guy would topple over. It surprises me that they diddnt think of this. After that slight modification it has worked hours without any incident.

My son is 15 months old and can run the remote for the TV, but this game does not hold his attention at all. He likes the keyboard, but the interactivity is so slow that he is bored with it before it is done loading. He is more entertained by manipulating the console, because that has a cause and effect. The actual games are useless. At first, I just thought it was broken because nothing seemed to be happening when you hit the keyboards, but no, it was just really slow. First it sits at the loading screen for at least 30 seconds. Then, after loading it just shows you a picture of some shape or animal. That's it. 30 seconds after that, you get to the 'game.' But you have to wait some more for it do anything. And then, after hitting the button, there is enough of a lag before anything happens, that my son is already off doing something else. All in all: FAIL.

Sesame Street Large Plush
I had originally ordered the 15 inch elmo and found him to be very small. I bought this one instead. The size is great, going to be perfect for my 18 month old. As far as previous reviews saying his body is hard, he isn't super hard. His arms and legs are the normal stuffing. While his body is slightly harder, with thicker stuffing and the only bean bag beans he has are on his bottom. This helps him to sit up without falling over... His eyes are cloth instead of the hard plastic on the smaller 15 inch version and his mouth is also made out of cardboard just like the smaller 15 inch one, this keeps his mouth open in a permanent grin. All in all I think this is a great sized Elmo, very well put together. He is shaggy, but does not shed like the Fisher Price Elmo. I would recommend for 18 months and up, a smaller child might not be able to carry him around very well simply because of his size.
He fell right in love with this Elmo and now carries him all over the house.Elmo has a heavy bottom (weighted) so it is easy for our little one to get Elmo to sit by him for watching a movie or playing with toys.This morning I found my toddler seated in Elmo's lap reading a book!
The fur is soft and is stringy? so it looks like Elmo is covered in fur and it doesn't seem to shed.Our Elmo's eyes are soft (not plastic) but are crooked; we figure that adds character (both myself & my husband attempted to grab the eyes and straighten them so they are noticeably crooked).Elmo's mouth is hard (like it has cardboard in it) but that keeps it slightly open in the silly Elmo grin.
This size Elmo is pretty big, when my toddler is carrying Elmo he gives him a big hug around the neck and Elmo's feet hang below my son's knees but not to the floor.Sitting he is just a few inches shorter than our son which makes them look like "best friends" when they are sitting together.
This Elmo doll was worth the price to me to NOT have any mechanics or noise and he is just what we were hoping for.It has been through the washing machine now several times & dried on low in the dryer and seems to be holding up well, doesn't quite look new anymore but fur remains soft & nice, color is true, and toddler is happy!

I was looking for a first Elmo for my Elmo loving 2 year old. I was really worried about getting an Elmo that didn't look like him, but he is perfect! He's shaggy and cute and just the right size.Dont worry about him being too hard because he's not, he's soft and cuddly just some weights in his seat to keep him sitting up, barely noticable.He's the perfect size for my 2 year old to carry around and he looks as though he will last a long time.Most important he looks just like the real Elmo!Highly recommended!Update: I wanted to update this review since my daughter just got her Gund Elmo stuffed toy for Christmas.This was her favourite present, she barely paid any attention to any thing else and carried it with her everywhere. This Elmo is officially a keeper. My daughter carry's him everywhere and has since she got him. Usually she goes through phases and favourites only last a few months at most, I expected the same with this Elmo, but he is still her favourite, she even sleeps with him.Only issue we had with him as regards to the quality of the product is, during her teething period she liked to chew and bite things, unfortunately Elmo became a victim, she chewed the top "lip" and the black fabric that covers the inside of his mouth tore, exposing the white plastic (not cardboard as stated in another review) it is basically irrepearable, although I will ask my mother in law who has sewn many a ripped toy. Everything else is in good condition, he has even taken a few "baths" by putting him in a pillow case then on a delicate cycle in the washing machine, this worked well and he came out looking and smelling brand new and nothing broke or ripped. My daughter is pretty rough on him so aside from his mouth, he has lasted well till this point. We often set him next to the tv while Elmo is on and he really is a great replica.Again his size is perfect for a toddler or young child, she carrys him easily but he is big enough to look realistic. Anyone looking for a good quality, realistic, soft, first Elmo, this is the one.We are considering buying a new one now my Daughter has stopped teething, and sneaking the old one out to replace him since he has the tear in his mouth, but not sure as he is the original fav, just doesn't seem right!Only real thing I could say that would make him just totally perfect would be that, I noticed the real Elmo is very shaggy, this one is shaggy but not like the real one, he would really be perfect if they could make his fur shaggier and evidently make the fabric in his mouth tougher. First time buying a Foosball table.Picture looked good and thought kids would like the Steelers theme.However, this is NOT for serious players.Probably only good for little kids.Very light, made of particle board and cheap material.Guess, this would be around $100 if not for the NFL theme.Anyone close to serious should consider tables that are at least 130lbs or more.Hard part of these kind of items is the pain of returning it.So think before you buy!

I just opened this chess set as it is going to be a birthday present for a friend and I wanted to put all the pieces on the magnetic strip.I have no idea where these other reviews came from.For the price I paid ($90) for this item, the quality stinks.The bamboo board has scratches all over it.The wood is not sealed in any way to protect from future damage.The entire product screams CHEAP.
The "hand carved" pieces look like they were carved using slave labor in India. I am returning this item.

I posted my first review of this set about a year and a half ago, making a point to mention flaws in the carving of the pieces and the way they stuck to the board. However, Mr. Holden recently contacted me far beyond the limit of the return policy and offered to send an entire set of new pieces free of charge. Naturally, I accepted, and I am far from disappointed.The new and improved pieces not only stick to the board more reliably, they are slightly redesigned to look even prettier, and the quality of the carving has improved. There are unsightly errors on two of the pieces, but I intend to ask for replacements.
I highly recommend this set. If there any problems with the one you order, Mr. Holden seems determined to ensure that everything is set right.

First, let me qualify this review. I have been playing chess for well over 40 years. In all that time I have purchased many chess sets. This is, by far, the best overall design for a portable set that I have come across. I study chess several hours a day and need a portable set that is easy to set up and take down. What I most disliked with all the other sets I have been using was there was nowhere good to put the captured pieces. I would often drop or misplace the captured piece or even lose them. This set changes everything! There is a built in magnetic shelf that holds each piece. The magnets are extremely strong. The bamboo board looks indestructable and should last a long time even if abused. It's heavy and sturdy.I will say that I am not crazy about the overall length of the pieces. They are too tall and take a while to get used to. Also the set would look much better if the stain used for the black (brown) pieces was solid versus the tiger-striped stain used. I think it cheapens the overall look of the set.
These two complaints are minor. I use this set everyday and have received many compliments for the unique design.
I have not seen anything like this set before and this very reasonable price. It is indeed unique and a best buy if you are looking for an extremely useable set and conversation piece all in one.

We received our chess board on time, and we are very happy with it. We are impressed by the craftsmanship and the exclusive patented design. Finding Nemo Game
My four-year-old son received this game as a gift.He is a huge Nemo fan.At first, we thought the game might be too complicated for him, but after a few run-throughs, he got the hang of it.After a couple of weeks of playing the game every day, he wins most of the time.This game teaches children to think strategy.It's terrific and I highly recommend it.(Hard to admit, but the other night, my husband and I played after the kids went to bed!!!Ha, ha, ha!)

The goal is to help Nemo find a path through the sewer pipes to the ocean.You have a bank of pipe pieces and are trying to create a path to the "ocean".You roll dice to determine 1) if you get to lay or remove any pipe(path) pieces and 2) how many spaces you are allowed to move.It is a strategy game that is fun for many ages (if you can overlook the Nemo characters.)
My daughter loved this when she was 4.We played a very friendly everyone-tries-to-get-to-the-ocean-and-doesn't-worry-about-anyone-else type game where it focused on planning ahead for multiple possible paths.As she mastered that, we started playing increasingly cutthroat games where we planned ahead not only for our own possible paths, but also visualizing the possible paths of other players requiring the use of defensive and offensive strategies.Now she is 8, still loves this game, and relishes the strategy challenge it presents.

Very cool!! Even though I hardly ever play it, stragety is the name of this game. Try and be the first player to get Nemo back home to his anemone. This kinda reminds me of an old Pocahontas game I have. Overall, it's very cute, fun, and educational.

Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway - Water Tower Figure 8 Set
This is by far the best deal I've seen on a Thomas set. The water tower retails alone for $24.00 and the bridge for $18! My son is absolutely wild about Thomas and the water tower and bridge are the two things he plays with the most. I am thrilled that they have combined them into a set along with track, and plan to give this as a gift to my nephew.The water tower contains liquid that appears to "drain" when you lower the spout (this alone is worth hours of entertainment for a toddler). The bridge has 3 parts and is very easy for young hands to assemble. It's reasonably stable, although the top piece is not held in place with anything other than gravity and can be knocked over accidentally. There is plenty of room underneath for trains and track. Some cheaper sets have bridges that are so low that the trains don't fit underneath.
Thomas brand track is excellent quality and features indented "ties," unlike less expensive versions. However, it's fully compatible with Brio, Imaginarium, and several generic brands on the market. This set also includes a Thomas train and cargo car to start your Thomas collection (Watch out! It's addicting). These would retail for about $10 apiece if you bought them separately. If your child already has a Thomas train, don't worry. To a 2 or 3 year old, two identical trains are more fun than one.
A simple figure-8 track layout is best for young children who are being introduced to wooden train sets for the first time. You can also rearrange the pieces to make a loop or simple circle. I highly recommend this set as a first train set for any boy or girl age 2 and up! A great companion is Thomas Wacky Track, which allows for a wider range of curve diameters, and reduces the frustration level of beginning engineers.
I purchased this set and the Figure 8 Expansion Set for my son for Christmas 2005. He is just over 2 years old, and he loves Thomas the Tank Engine in particular, and all things train related in general, so this was a very easy decision to make. The quality of Learning Curve's wooden track is very good; the pieces are made from hardwood, and are quite sturdy. While we have expanded using other generic tracks which are compatible with Brio/Thomas track, there is a noticeable difference in the quality.
I would offer one caveat. This set is very similar to the Conductor's Figure 8 Set, which is typically offered for the same price. While the water tower that comes with this set is a pretty neat accessory, I think that the Conductor's set offers a bit better value, as it comes with Thomas and two cars (Water Tower set only comes with one engine and one car), as well as an additional switch track and a conversion ramp. These offer a bit more flexibility in layout and play, especially since my son is not terribly interested in the water tower right now (though this may change when he gets older).

Tons of stuff come in this set, for a super price: a Thomas, cargo train with cargo piece, a tree, a Sir Topham Hat figure, two signs, a 3 section bridge, a water tower, and tracks that form a figure 8.
If you add up the price of the red water tower, one train with attached cargo train, a bridge, and several track sets and accessories, you would be at a price 50-75% more than the cost of this excellent Thomas starter set.This set is even worth it if you already have other pieces in the line.My son wanted a water tower, and I figured why pay the price of a single one, when for a few dollars more, you get 2 trains, a bridge, signs, a figure, a tree, and tons of track.While some of the larger Thomas sets don't really save you cash and can be very pricey, this one is probably the best value out there.
One other note, the differences between the red and yellow tower are not just the color.The red one, sold by itself, has the train track piece attached to it as one unit.The yellow one in this set does not have a track attached, but comes with two little magnets in front, and there is one straight track piece that has the two magnets on the side, so you can make it stay put.It may take a few minutes when you disassemble it, to find the right track piece with the magnet, and if you have a lot of track like we do, it can take several minutes!! In a way, it's better than the red one, in that you can place it where you want, even around a curve, by just using it alone.On the downside, if you lose that magnetic piece of track, you won't get it to attach to anything anymore.

This is a great starter set that I bought for my children.The water tower is a big hit--it looks like the water runs out when you move the handle down.
The set up: younger kids will need help putting it together.
Adults will want to find a safe place to keep the paper that tells you exactly how to set it up.It is a figure 8 shape and if you don't put the right pieces in the right place it won't make it all the way around.
FYI: I also did not know that the Thomas the Train pieces you buy at Target do not fit all Thomas tracks.

I bought this for my grandson for his birthday and he loves it!He had another Thomas set that had grey plastic track which is horrible.The track will not stay together and he was very frustrated.I think the carnival set is that same track so beware.This set has sturdy durable wooden tracks and he plays with it EVERY day!He has fun moving the track in different designs and is mystified with the water "disappearing" from the water tower.This is the best Thomas set to start off with and it appears additional extension sets are very reasonably priced.I recommend this highly and suggest you stay away from the grey plastic track Thomas sets.
