Trouble Board Game

Trouble Board GameI've been playing Trouble since I was a kid and it's still fun to play with my brothers and my niece. You push down on the middle part of thegame with the dice in it and the dice will 'pop' and give you a number, telling you how many spaces to move. The first person to get their fourpieces around the board and to their base, wins.If you land on a spacewhere one of your opponent's pieces are already at, they will have to startall over with that piece. For that reason, some kids might get mad if theyhave to start over, but that's the only thing that I see that anyonewouldn't like about Trouble.

Playing Trouble can teach kids some countingskills and maybe even some sportsmanship after you teach them not to getmad because they're not winning everytime.Trouble is a lot of fun and Irecommend anybody to get it.

I think even young children will enjoy this game.My daughter was under 4 when we started, but she loves the counting aspect of the game. It's great for number recognition skills because you make them say the number on the die outloud as they "roll."The only rule I don't like is that you need a "6" to start.Often that makes the beginning a bit slow if no one gets a 6.Once things get going, it's a lot of fun and easy to play. The thing in the middle is harder to push than it looks, so for very young children, they may not be strong enough to push it.3-4 year olds should have no problem though and it makes a satisfying pop.A fun and easy game -avoid if your child still puts small plastic pieces in his mouth though.

"I sat hunkered over the board. Five years old, and a "Trouble" champion. My brother stared me down. At eight years old, he knew how to intimidate. My glass of chocolate milk quivered in my nervous hands..." --me... circa 1971 or 1972

The sheer delight of a simple game will be satisfying as you see your children pop on the plastic bubble to 'toss the dice.' And you'll smile as you know those dice won't be easily lost. Milton Bradley were smart to use such a creative device without losing an ounce of fun.

Easy to learn, keeps a child's attention, and just plain good 'ol fun.

My brother usually beat me. But I went at the game as intensely as Michael Jordan plays basketball.

I fully recommend "Trouble."

I'm a 27 year old mother of 3.I remember loving this game when I was a kid. I was so dissapointed when I opened this game. I couldn't believe how cheesey it is.You can barely 'POP' the dice. And when my kids POP the bubble all the game pieces fly around. Plus the bottom of the game has a pop in piece of cardboard.Shouldn't the bottom be covered with hard plastic??

I also wish there was something to hold all the pieces because my kids (like many others) abuse the box and all of the pieces fall out and get lost.

****Can't the board game makers start making harder cases or Tins so we all don't have a stack of smashed boxes and missing pieces.

The game itself is fun...but I ended up throwing it away because pieces got lost way to fast.

I loved this game when I was younger and ordered it for my children. But... this game is so cheaply made now! A thin cardboard bottom has the graphics (comes seperated not integrated) and rips VERY easily. The popper is of a thin bent metal tension design that doesn't pop reliably. Very frustrating! We ended up buying a vintage game on [auction site] and love it!

Big Top Circus Tent- Indoor/Outdoor Collapsible Play Tent

Big Top Circus Tent- Indoor/Outdoor Collapsible Play TentDo not purchase this tent. It came with only three (not four) loops for the tent sticks, so I had to sew on a fourth one. One of the tent sticks cracked and I had to put black duct tape around it to protect my kids from splinters. Then, all four of the sticks went through the bottom fabric. This was ALL BEFORE my three year old got in it. It's worthless. Don't waste your money.

I bought this tent to replace another round circus tent that we have had for the last 6 years. The first week that we had this new tent, the place where the poles go into the slots on the bottom ripped at the end of every pole!So now the tent is ripped in several places where the poles end. What a piece of junk.It didn't even last a few days.My kids were not even rough with it or anything; it is simply made of defective materials.DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM.You will certainly be disappointed.

This is the same tent that is sold at Ikea for 19.99. The one I own is sturdy and my kids have a blast playing in it. So far they've been pretty gentle with it so no rips, tears or breaks to speak of. We have it set up in a corner with some pillows insideits their reading space and a place to hang out either together or alone. It's a nice tent IMO and am suprised to see so many had problems with it :/

I bought this tent for my son's 1st birthday Circus theme party. I'll mostly use it as the backdrop for pictures and once he's older he will have a blast playing with it (bought plastic balls to fill the inside of the tent.. fun times!). He loves the pictures on the tent, they make him giggle each time I put him in there. Easy to assemble and super fast delivery!!

Swimline Floating Mult-Game Gameboard

Swimline Floating Mult-Game GameboardI LOVE THIS. VERY GOOD QUALITY. WE USE IT IN OUR HOT TUB AND POOL. IT IS MAGNETIC AND WORKS GREAT....EVEN THE DICE FLOAT. I HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR A FLOATING BACKGAMMON BOARD FOR YEARS AND THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE BLOW UP ONE I HAD. I USUALLY DON'T DO THESE REVIEWS, BUT I WANTED TO SHARE THIS .

IF YOU BUY THIS YOU WILL CERTAINLY BE GLAD YOU DID.

I'm always looking for new and exciting methods for playing chess, and my attempts at skydiving chess have, so far, proved catastrophic.

But then I found THIS.

Up until now, sharing a body of water with my girlfriend has been TOTALLY BORING. I mean, what on earth can a guy and a girl even DO in a Jacuzzi? But with this set, FUN MOVES FIRST.

Only problem I've had with this set is when other people are in the pool, or jacuzzi bubbles are turned on. It can be really tough to move your knights in the early game when other people are pretending to have fun around you.

Barbie 3-Story Dream Townhouse

Barbie 3-Story Dream TownhouseSo I've become a pro at assembling this product because the first one was damaged & I had to ship it back for another one. Amazon was great at exchanging the product! My recommendation, which SHOULD be in the assembly directions as item #1...put the batteries in to make sure all the gadgets work before you assemble any of it...that would have saved me a headache!!If you follow the stupid directions, you wont be advised to put batteries in until the end, which could be too late, like in my case. Oh yeah, this product cannot be disassembled without breaking it apart, just in case you think you can take it apart to store it, not gonna happen.

The best news, my Girls love it!They think it's the coolest thing ever.I have to admit, it's quite grand in size; neither one has to compete for space when playing with it.If you're thinking of buying it, do it, especially while there's free shipping...but remember...Batteries go in first!

I start this review by saying I am a loyal and loving Amazon fan and have never had a bad experience.I also say that while dissappointing, this experience won't change my loyalty to Amazon. The only purpose of my review is to help other parents that may be considering ordering this toy from Amazon as a Christmas gift.

I ordered this item this past week for my daughter for Christmas. As always, it arrived right on time. The only trouble was the toy wasn't contained in the standard Amazon shipping box.So, my wife/daughter pull in from work/school and there is a beautiful Barbie Dreamhouse sitting on my front porch for all to see.

Reason I felt like sharing this info:

1) Had my wife not been witty and distracted my daughter, it would have blown the biggest Christmas surprise we plan on getting her.

2) The fact that it was exposed on my front porch (it is a large, bright, Barbie box) makes me feel lucky it wasn't stolen. All it would have taken was for the wrong person to ride by and it could have been easily taken.

Perhaps I am in the wrong for assuming the product would be covered by Amazon packaging.Either way, my advice to parents considering buying for Christmas, have it shipped to work or somewhere you can guarantee your child won't see and it won't be stolen.

Amazon, I still love you.Just want to keep others from making the poor assumption I made.

()Overall review:

The Dream Townhouse is roomy, spacious, has beautiful color options beyond pink and white (a nice blue hottub and middle section, for example), takes up little floor space by climbing the wall and has the dealbreaker for most kids: the working elevator. But assemblers are advised to put in batteries and test all electronics (flushing toilet, crackling fireplace, etc.) before assembling. That is, sadly, a necessity for ALL modern Barbie electronic toys since quality does vary greatly.

Deciding on a new home for Barbie:

The Townhouse, Malibu Dreamhouse, Beach House, Glam Vacation House, Pink World House, Fashion Fairytale Palace, Lightup Castle, etc. all offer something different for Barbie. In particular, the Townhouse is a much better deal when compared to the Malibu Dreamhouse for about 25% more, Barbie gets an elevator, a lot more furniture, and a house that takes up more wall space than floor space. As well, the Townhouse suits Barbie scale much better than the Malibu Dreamhouse, which can feel a bit crowded. The Glam Vacation House and Pink World house don't have much in the way of ceilings or floors (mostly just walls), so girls don't really feel like they have a 'house'.My 9 year old never really liked the Pink House it took up too much room in her floor and since it didn't have much of a floor, furniture fell over constantly on carpet. As for the fairytale DVD movie houses, they are built specifically for a character and regular Barbies may seem/feel very out of place. The Dream Townhouse gives plenty of roominess for a variety of the more inexpensive Barbies such as the fashionistas, whose articulated arms and legs go well with the Townhouse.

Assembling The Dream Townhouse

As noted above, install batteries and check all electronics before assembling.Mattel does have an assembly video that you can access as well(2011 version Dream Townhouse) to get an idea of how to put it together. But honestly, it wasn't that hard.Mattel has been smart and designed it such that you match up shapes to pieces (and pieces all come in different widths so they won't snap into the wrong place). This was the same case with the Monster High School Playset and made sure that you assembled once and were done (IKEA has also gone this route, thankfully!).Assembly ideally takes 20-30 minutes at most, including taking out of the package. The graphics are set/already there, thankfully, so no annoying stickers to put together.

Durability:

The houses of the past tended to be put together in room-sized pieces and so broke down fairly easily due to lack of a solid base. The Dream Townhouse comes with one solid 2 floor wall piece with folding, permanently attached floors. This gives some durability to the house.Once the floors are dropped, it is held together by the thick columns on each level. The penthouse level then fits onto the second floor top.The elevator has a track and fortunately the new design means that sagging parts don't cause it to fall out as easily. The newer 'softer' less brittle plastics of today often mean that the floors 'give' a bit and this does cause the elevator to be a bit creaky and stiff (especially compared to the Dream houses with elevators from the 1970s). The softer plastics also seem to contribute to the variations in track sizes for the elevators often requiring a bit of 'modification' if your elevator doesn't work well or as designed. But that said, this is MUCH better quality than the previous Dream Townhouse.

Aesthetics:

It's great to see barbie adding in more colors than Pink or white (though there was an odd yellow fold out house in the 1990s).This townhouse has blue flooring in the middle and a large blue tub on top, and there are some purples thrown in for variety (plus, many shades of pinks dark to light add interest).Note that the color isn't as saturated as in the images on Amazon so it isn't as eye wincingly bright. The house is a good scale for Barbie and the dolls don't feel crowded (though Ken might be a bit tall for the middle level). As well, it makes a beautiful display for Barbies when not in play.

Alternatives:

This is the top of the line Barbie house and is priced accordingly.Keep in mind that there are other alternatives if you don't want/need the Barbie branding or would like a house not made of plastic.KidCraft has an excellent line of full wood with full color graphics doll houses that are priced comparably to this house. Those doll houses are also Barbie-scale and ideal for a larger doll collection that may include Moxie, Bratz, etc.

Summary:

In all, this is an improvement and provides more value for money than the other Barbie houses.Quality variation issues keep this from being a 5 star product (as well as the hefty price) the elevator doesn't always work well and the electronics especially may not all work.

My daughter wanted this toy for her 4th birthday. She loves it and plays with it daily! It does come in the huge dream house box and was hard to hide from her. The elevator was tricky to put together because the pieces weren't made properly. My husband had so shave off some of the plastic and use super glue to get the elevator together. So far, its held up.Also, one of the chandeliers was missing.Overall good toy, but overpriced!

Kids Only Disney's Cars 2 Activity Table Set

Kids Only Disney's Cars 2 Activity Table SetBought this for Christmas for our one year old, because he absolutely loves feeling like a big boy and sitting in his own chairs at tables. The colors are bright and the assembly was fine, but we still to this day cannot figure out how to fold the legs on either the table or the chairs. It is not a folding table style like we are used to for extra party chairs and tables. Their are stoppers and pegs that lock everything in place, but they are impossible to unlock. We checked the instructions, and it never instructs on how to fold and store, just assemble. BIGGEST NEGATIVE--is the vinyl used on the seat cushions is very thin--even thinner than the decorative panels on the top of the table and chair backs. It rips EASILY. The first time my daughter sat on it with buttons or decor on the back of her jeans, it tore and dimpled. We will have to re-upholster it ourselves. We had returned a previous version of a stackable tire cars set because it tipped and was very unstable. This one does better for young kids. The only time my toddler tips out of the chairs is if he tried to climb up with one hand supporting his weight on the the back of the chair. Not the chairs fault. :) SECOND NEGATIVE: the little plastic caps on the bottoms of all the legs cracked and fell off the first day or two--so it would damage a wood floor, with just a metal pipe leg. Would work fine on carpet or tile, I suppose. We have moved it inside our son's room for that reason, and cannot bring it onto our wood floors without denting the floors, unless we use a furniture pad underneath every leg of the chairs and the table, which is impossible, cause the kids move the chairs around so much. It would also puncture those foam mats, so that didn't work either. Other than that, it's ok. We wouldn't buy it again--due to not usable on our wood floors and the seats rip and look tacky with normal use, and require re-upholstery to a thicker vinyl.

Great build and quality that holds up well to kids and their abuse. I have had this for several weeks and have no regrets in purchase. My son loves it and provides a great place for him to do his homework.

I'm disappointed with the quality of this chess set.The description says it's "inlaid", but what it is really just a glued surface!I had to return the set because the surface was warped because it's not glued properly.

This chess set was given as a birthday gift to our grandson. He told me just yesterday that it

has become his favorite chess set.He especially enjoys taking it with him wherever he goes.

He especially likes the pull out drawers where the pieces are stored. At this point I cannot

evaluate the endurance of the set because of its newness, but it seems to be doing well after

a couple of weeks of continued use.

This a great little chess set.The pieces are sturdy natural wood. The magnetic board makes it jostle-resistent.My kids have had hours of great matches with it.

Both drawers are connected so that they must be pulled out together. There's enough resistance when you pull that I could imagine the drawers wearing out if you or a child were rough with it.If you're gentle, I think it would last for many years.

Strawberry Shortcake Playset - Berry Cafe

Strawberry Shortcake Playset - Berry CafeMy 4 year old DD had to earn this toy by not sucking her thumb. I had it in the closet for awhile, but finally came the time to open it, so I did it after she went to bed so I wouldn't have her hovering around while I try to pull all the tiny pieces out. The pieces are very tiny, but are comparable to Polly pocket size, so I don't recommend this to any child who still puts things in their mouth.

While I was putting it together, I got a close look at all the pieces and I was amazed by the quality! All the furniture is well painted and even though the pieces are small, they all are made well. There is nothing more annoying than when you have a table that is not quite level or sturdy and then the cups fall over when you set the table! With this toy, that doesn't happen.

Another thing that I like about this toy is that the staircase swivels. Moreover, you can take off SSC's dress and change her clothes (if you purchase another set, like the wardrobe). The window shutters open and close as does the door. The bird ride is pretty cool too, although your little one may need help putting SSC on the bird until they get the hang of it. Plus, who doesn't love things that smell like strawberries?! We've had ours for over 3 months and it still smells great! At first, I was worried that the fragrance would irritate my DD's eczema (she has it really bad on her hands), but it hasn't so far, which is yet another positive IMO.

The only thing my DD was dissapointed about was that it didn't come with SSC's pets, Pupcake and Custard. You have to buy them separately (in 2 diff. sets).

If you have/know a little one who loves SSC as well as playsets like Polly Pocket or Ponyville, then this set is for you! Keep your eyes open for sales if you want to save a little money. I got mine for $10 cheaper during an Amazon sale. I have also seen it sold as a combo deal at Wally World with other sets for an extremely good price.

First I would like to say that my DD loves Strawberry Shortcake (SS) and I spent a lot of time choosing which sets to purchase for her birthday.

My DD loved the way the box looked in the store (the presentation in the box is very "attention grabbing") however, after I bought it for her birthday and opened it I was immediately disappointed.

Waaaay to expensive for what it is. Half the pieces were gone before we even finished the party and it is pretty much a "shell of a house". It doesn't even close to hold those tiny pieces...so...no chance of keeping them anyway.

There is no handle so my DD could not transport it around the house as she likes so I have to move it for her....It's not heavy, just bulky for my DD.

It should have included at least one of SS "friends" so my DD could actually pretend she was having a tea party as the set-up seems to suggest.

Also, I tried to find a few "friends" and discovered that you have to buy other play-sets to get even one that is the same type.

The SS you get in the package has plastic hair and is a different size than the individually sold characters you can find next to the play-set at the store.

When you buy sets that have the friends, they also contain SS so I end up with 3-4 SS's and 1 of each friend.

More money and frustrating...

Meanwhile....My DD has started to use her SS dolls to play in her regular dollhouse she received last Christmas. More frustration....maybe I should have just bought the dolls...oh, wait you can't.

All in all, I found this particular set to be a complete waste of money...and the entire line to be uncoordinated. The house should have been more substantial and the characters should be able to be bought individually or as a "friend" set.

Buy Strawberry Shortcake Playset - Berry Cafe Now

To a "marketing mom" such as myself, I have to sit back and wonder how many focus groups and/or research and development this toy went through. It is not very well thought out or put together. My main complaint is everything is too small making it difficult to use.The bed is too small for the dolls to lie on.The car is too small making it hard to get Strawberry Shortcake in it.Then the seatbelt is too short to fasten easily. The house is too small, especially the bottom floor, to easily put the kitchen pieces in and play with.Only the tiniest of hands could possibly play in there! The accessories such as the basket and cups do not fit on Strawberry Shortcake's hand. The hat is too small and does not fit on Strawberry Shortcake's head.I could go on and on...My three year old is very frustrated with this toy, but it was a Christmas present so I can't give it away.

The only thing I like about this toy is the strawberry smell that takes me back in time.Hopefully, the designer will read this and go back to the drawing board!!!

This set looks very attractive, and I had already purchased some of the other smaller playsets, so I deliberated on whether to purchase this or not. My daughter loves Strawberry Shortcake and her friends and would make a bee-line for this toy every time we went to the store. During one of my daughter's playdates, her friend had this set and after observing them at play and also after handling these toys for a while, I decided against buying it. The main reason is the tiny accessories that comes with this playset the food items etc are miniscule and can be easily misplaced (my common complaint with the accessories in the Strawberry Shortcake playsets). I can foresee this being a problem in households where there are younger siblings, below the age of three (as they could be a potential choking hazard). Also, the Berry Cafe is not very substantial for the price there is no back cover. It would have been more attractive and practical if it were the kind of building that could open and close, and perhaps have a little handle on top to make for easy carrying. All in all, I found this playset overpriced and not practical.

Want Strawberry Shortcake Playset - Berry Cafe Discount?

My daughter loves this toy, and plays with it every day. Yes, there are a lot of small pieces, but we just have a pencil box that we store all the little pieces in, and we have not yet lost anything in a couple of months. The pieces are well made, very detailed painting, and made of thicker more durable plastic. Some pieces have actual screws in them, instead of glue. The bird on top that the dolls can ride in is really fun and easy to work, just push the bird down, and it spins around as it slowly pops back up. It is a little overpriced at some stores, but if you watch sales you can get it for cheaper, I got a deluxe set with Plum Pudding and the roadster included with the cafe at a large chain retail store based out of Arkansas for one Jackson and four Washingtons. Overall a great toy, obviously not very educational, but great for the imagination.

Fisher-Price Interactive Baby Grand Piano

Fisher-Price Interactive Baby Grand PianoMy daughter just received this baby grand piano from her grandparents as a baptism present. She is 10 months old and really seems to like it.The piano does so many things and I forsee her having a lot of fun with it and am happy that I suggested it for a present. The reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is that my daughter, who is just learning to stand and cruise, stood up with the piano and she must of put to much weight towards the middle of the piano, while I was reaching for the camera, because the piano tobbled end over end with her following it.The piano started to do the same thing right after that when she tried to stand. She wasn't hurt, more scared then anything, but I would have thought it would be sturdy enough to handle her putting a little weight in the middle of it.I still recommend the piano, but stay within hands reach if your baby can't walk and keep themselves fairly steady on their own.

We got this toy as a gift for my daughter's first birthday. The piano is great except for one thing.Little hands get stuck in the slot the sun moves in.The sun moves from side to side during certain songs, and my daughter and her friends love to grab at it when it starts doing this.Inevitably, someone's hand always gets pinched and makes them start crying/screaming.If Fisher Price ever redesigns this toy, I would recommend removing the sun from the toy or making it where it's immobile.I know this will probably not make the toy as fun, but safety comes first in my book.I give it three stars because of this hazard.

Buy Fisher-Price Interactive Baby Grand Piano Now

This is one of the best toys I've ever seen.I don't care for most of the newfangled plastic, electronic toys...most of them are junk. This one, however, is well-designed and will entertain a baby as well as even a 5 or 6 year old, in my opinion.I used to teach music at the elementary school level, and I think my kindergarteners and first-graders would have loved it.

The controls are all easy enough to operate that even a 9-month-old (the suggested earliest age) can operate them easily...none of them require too much strength or dexterity, for instance.

It teaches real musical concepts (high vs low, fast vs slow, etc) and has an actual, properly-working piano keyboard. The keys work like a real piano's does; if I press down 2 or 3 or 4 keys, they will all sound together, and the sound quality is like an actual piano, not a buzzy toy. There are so many different modes (there are three main modes, but when you turn the music "page" it brings up different sub-modes) so there are many different ways to play with this toy.My kid has played with this for 2 months, and I'm still discovering new functions on it.

I like the piano so well that I am pretty vigilant about not letting my baby "pull up" on it...I want the toy still working when he's 3 or 4.:)If you are assembling this for a baby, I would recommend waiting to install the legs until your child is through with the "pulling-up" phase.Durability may be the only weakness of this toy; nothing has broken on mine, but I could see where if an aggressive toddler say, tipped it over and stepped on the music stand part, that might break off or something.

On the whole, though, I LOVE this toy!Music teacher approved!

We just purchased this for our 9 month old's first Christmas gift.I'm glad we got it out and tried it out before Christmas eve, because we received one that the last 3 keys on it didn't work. But Amazon quickly got another one right out to us and provided a great no hassle return for the other.

Our little girl loves this piano!!She is in the pulling up/standing stage right now, and it provides great activity for that as well as she can stand up to it and walk around it with lots of fun things to do!

As a pianist and musician myself, I am very impressed with the variey of activities it offers and concepts being taught that they child won't even realize she is being "taught"!-such as tempo, pitch, etc.

My 14 year old son even likes to sit and play with it!

I could go on and on about it; so I'll just conclude with saying how much we like this product and are so glad we got it.We only learned of it after seeing it in a Fisher Price brochure; I have not seen it in a store, so knew I could count on Amazon to have it!

Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Wooden Railway Play Table

Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Wooden Railway Play Table ()I really wanted to like this train table. We have had Step2 Deluxe Canyon Road Train & Track Table for years. We thought a nicer wooden table would be a great upgrade for the kids. And they all love Thomas. (I don't know that I've even met a kid who didn't like Thomas.) But this table just failed to live up to my expectations.

First, it was really easy to put the table together. Only a phillips head screwdriver was needed. Even with little hands "helping", the table was together in 10 minutes.

I like the train storage on the underside of the side of the table. That is a very clever use of space. It also encouraged my kids to put their trains away.

That is where my positives end.

This table, while expensive, comes with no trains or tracks. You must purchase those things separately. I very much wish it came with a basic track and a train or two.

The top of this table just sets into the base. It is in two pieces and they are not bolted down or held down in any way. This is very problematic for my household. Also, the top of the table isn't very sturdy. It will hold essentially no weight, so hopefully your little conductor will not get too enthusiastic and climb on top of the table. It just won't take much wear and tear for such an expensive item. I'd expect much better quality and construction.

So now, I have to constantly monitor train table usage to make sure no one is being too rough with the table and no one is climbing under the table and bumping the table top. It is just a hassle. Perhaps the makers of Thomas the Train do not expect 3 rough little boys to be playing with their table. Not sure what these guys had in mind with this design.

Honestly, I like the cheap Step 2 table more. My boys can be more free with it and have less controlled play.

()My daughter is a huge Thomas and Friends fan. I built her an 80" x 32" train table with fixed track for Christmas, but after a recent birthday, she's already run out of room. I got this as a secondary table for her extra sets and as an area for her to make up her own layouts.

The table is very well constructed... the structure includes enough supports under the playboard that I doubt there will be any sagging, even though the board itself is only 1/4" MDF. Assembled, it's quite sturdy and includes some pretty thick metal brackets to hold everything together. It's much larger then I was expecting, with the play area measuring 48" x 32". There's also a 32" stretch of track between two legs on one end that can be incorporated into a set built on the floor, or it can be used to store trains... it even has a ledge behind the track to keep the trains from being knocked off. This 'ledge' is not show in the photos above, so it must have been a late addition (and a smart one).

A few complaints though... first, the playboard is two panels that are 48" x 16" each. This leaves a bit of a bump along the centerline, down the middle where the panels meet. I didn't have any expectations of disassembling the table, so I glued the panels down to the support underneath. It probably would have settled flat over time, but I still think it's a bad design, since it initially causes a problem with laying track across the seam.

Second, a minor complaint, is that there is so much room under the table that's wasted. For the price, they should definitely included a couple of draws.

Third, the playboard itself includes a lot of useless object drawn in. The landscape is nice and includes plenty of different terrain, but I think it's ridiculous to include trees and buildings that are flat. The actual 'trees' they offer for the Thomas sets are simple painted wood cut-outs. Skip the buildings, and include a half dozen actual tree pieces... that would have given this table a 3D element to it, and would have distinguished it from all the other train tables out there. I have a couple of friends with Thomas-style train tables and there's two similar tables at a nearby child play center... I have never seen any child pay any attention to these flat drawn buildings.

Aside from my opinions of it, my daughter does enjoy it quite a bit. Overall, this is an excellent train table, with a hefty price. I do think they could have done more with it for what it costs, especially from a line of toys that has been so creative in the past.

()I have 3 children who are all interested in trains. We often deal with arguments because one train table was not quite enough for 3 of them to share well and still have room to move around the tracks and play freely.

So when we were offered a second table, I jumped at the chance. I'm so glad that we did.

We had owned the Kidcraft table for more than a year before getting this one. The Kidcraft has held up ok, but I'm very unimpressed with the construction quality.

To compare:

The Kidcraft table cost around $120. This one was $220.

The Kidcraft table is about 6" shorter which is fine for toddlers, but awkward for 4 and up. This is tall enough that my 5 year old can stand at the table and play, which she really likes.

The Kidcraft topper is basically thick cardboard that sits on the inner rims of the table. It's popped out on us more than once, leaving tracks all over the floor. This one is also thick cardboard, but a little better quality and has 3 cross supports to keep it from popping or falling through.

The Kidcraft is a neutral wood and also included a set of tracks and play trains. This one had no accessories.

On the pros/cons list, I have to say that the Kidcraft table is a better value for a starter set. You get more for $100 less, but it won't necessarily last as long.

The wooden tracks with the Kidcraft set are the same tracks that come with the Thomas wooden railway sets. They can be used interchangeably.

For kids older than 2 or 3, this set is really better designed. The kids have a tendency to lean on the table while they are playing, and the Kidcraft just couldn't handle the weight.

My only 2 disappointments with this table is that the layout on the surface is not made to look anything like Sodor Island. It's just a general aerial view of land and water. Since it's a Thomas-themed table, I fully expected it to have more in common with the brand product that the color of blue painted on the legs.My other disappointment is that for the additional $100+ they really could have included $10 worth of tracks or accessories. That's one aspect where I feel like they are charging too much for the same of a name brand.

Overall, though, my kids are absolutely thrilled with the table AND the blue coloring. The other one has been long since forgotten except by my 3 year old.

()My son has lots of Thomas trains and track so it only made sense that we would want a table to put everything on. When we got the package, it was HUGE and my son was dancing with anticipation.

Installation was quick; it took my husband and I less than 30 minutes to assemble. I noted that there were instances where I would have to hold two pieces together while my husband used the screwdriver to attach them. A single person could assemble it (for those who are single parents) but you would need props and creative use of the floor. My husband noticed that the pieces that came pre-assembled had to be tightened up as well. There were some spots where following your intuition was better than following the directions but otherwise, there were no issues. In the end, the table was sturdy and felt well made.

My son fell to playing with it immediately. He loved the rack on the side where you can store your engines, but the best part was you could attach tracks and risers to it and extend the existing track configuration he's made on the floor. And it's after several days of playing with it that I noticed something: the train table is being used more for keeping junk off the floor.

The problem is the tracks we make often need more room than the table allows. My son's gotten accustomed to making track configurations of various dimensions and being limited by the table is frustrating. The designs on the table and board are very attractive and he's tickled that it's exactly like the ones we see in the toy stores, but actual play with the table is minimal since we don't glue down the track pieces. I think those who glue down their pieces would find more benefit to this, but then you lose the endless possibilities of different track configurations.

In all, I'm glad we got it because he seems to like it but it's not often used as it's intended.

I was shopping for a train table for a long time. At last my choices were this one by Fisher Price and the one by Learning curve with a drawer in the middle, that is sold on Baby R us for 199. But after thinking for a while I still went with this one, even I like the idea of having a drawer, it seams like it is a very flimsy one, that can be pulled out all the way and can hurt your child, also it's still not big enough for all the train and tracks we have. I saw bough of them in local Barns and Nobles, my kid loved to play with this one maybe because of perfect size. Received it very fast, box was in perfect condition, instructions are pretty clear and took me only 20 minutes to put together. So far very happy with it, looks and feels very sturdy. My kid is also very careful baby, he does not walk around with wet cups that he will put on top of the table, so had not problems with paining going of. Really suggest to give it a try! Oh, And i was lucky enough to get it on sale for $179.

Educo Ocean Adventure Table - Kneehigh (ED2020)

Educo Ocean Adventure Table - KneehighI bought this for my niece for her 1st birthday.I was keen to get something that would simulate her and be more than a passing fad.She already had a bunch of "educational" toys but they all were electronic and after visiting for a week they were driving me nuts!I like the old school style of toys that allow kids to use their imagination rather than press a button and watch the flashing lights.Overall A+

Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Musical Activity Walker

Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Musical Activity WalkerThis is a fun toy. There are a handful of musical instruments represented on the front of the walker piano, guitar, saxophone, etc. Each one, when activated, plays cute, upbeat music that makes babies happy. There's a volume switch to make mommy/daddy happy, too. We received this as a gift when my son was about 6 months old, and he loved sitting in front of it and activating the songs and sounds. When he began cruising, we merely propped it against an end table for extra support and left it out for him to cruise around and continue to play with. Great.

Until he began wanting to walk independently, but needed a little support from a walker. That's the point of this, right? Umm, not quite. We quickly realized that this is a fun toy, but NOT a good walker. It's very lightweight, and easily pushes away/tips when a newly-walking-toddler leans into it. It also can easily tip back when a toddler sits down, too, coming down on his head. After my son suffered a few painful faceplants and head bumps trying to use this walker, we took it away for his safety.

As a musical activity toy for a sitting/crawling/cruising baby, this is quite cute. As a walker for new toddlers, this doesn't do the trick. I'd recommend looking for something more sturdy.

We bought this item after reading a lot of reviews and doing research. At the end of the day, my goal was to have something for my 12 month old to practice walking with (so far she cruises along furniture... but I don't want her only walking sideways!) When we put it together and gave it to her, I have never seen her so happy!!! She walks back and forth across our carpeted room like she has a new found freedom! We got nervous when she went near our tile floor, but she did just fine. The ONLY time it might tip is when she runs up against furniture and tries to keep on going. However, we are usually right there (as responsible parents) and turn her around facing her in another direction. She has flipped it on herself twice (or, rather, flipped herself over it) but neither time was she hurt or even phased by the fall. I can't stress enough how perfect this was for us. I don't think it is cheaply made at all. She can pull herself up on either side, loves the buttons, loves the music... it's great!!!! BUY IT!!!

This item offers absolutely no resistance against the wheels. If you don't hover over your child while they are walking, eventually you'll end up with some busted teeth or a bloody lip.If your child runs into anything with it, they will go over the top of it(as if over the handlebars on a bicycle). The plastic bends and the screw tips 'almost' pop through the plastic. It is very light so if your child is learning to walk... get them something else...Amazon customer support was willing to allow me a return, but we kept it as it does entertain my son.We have removed the wheels and the unit now sits stationary.

Was wearing after reading other reviews but my goodness they made it seem like I was purchasing the start of a horror movie for my child. Purchased it for my daughter before xmas so she was about to turn 10 months. She's almost 11 months now and is doing better with it than when she first got it. From the help of her 1 month older cousin she picked up how to properly start using a walker. Unfortunately my child does want to PLAY with the front WHILE WALKING BEHIND. Hilarious to watch. She always uses it backwards. A bit easier for her to play and walk.

I believe this toy works better on none shag-ish carpet (idk what to call it exactly). The carpet in our upstairs portion of the house it does not allow the wheels to roll she gets frustrated and stops playing with it. Kitchen tile can you say WEEEEEE*faceplant* .... ok lesson learned, don't allow child to use in kitchen Didn't really think of using quite there ANYWAYS. Downstairs carpet ok cool, she uses it great. She crawls over and plays with just the front as well (we do have to have wheel stoppers of some form behind to back wheels while just playing with the front part otherwise it rolls away when she slams the piano keys haha)

Music is very short (does not play forever and ever and ever). Nice sounds actually 3 settings for sound. OFF, LOW, HIGH. High really isn't that bad, just helps her hear if there is something like the TV playing or other family members having fun elsewhere in the same room.

Yes the sounds do make noise when child isn't play a quick piano roll, or guitar sound TO GET THE CHILD TO COME BACK AND PLAY. This shouldn't be the ONLY toy to show cause and effect my child will play for with it knows the sound will go off in a few moments when she stops , waits for it to do the sound on it's own, laugh like there is no other joke told like this one, and get more into playing with it. The child will read it as an interactive game with them not confuse them completely on the short bit they learned on cause an effect. They still are getting that here AND hopefully else where if you're teaching them properly. /rant

You may need to be close by while they are learning to walk just like you would if they were learning to walk without the toy. Once they start cruising and are walking like a crab by going side to side steps, this toy will really help them cruise and learn the proper movement of the steps moving forward and back.

Falls may happen in life anyways will or without toys. Realize your child's milestone capabilities and follow proper parenting actions as it suits. Don't diss a product because your child may not be completely ready for all the aspects they are really really wanting to have.

We received this toy as a gift for our 3rd daughter. We have gone through several walkers before, so I have others to compare this one to. Our little one was not yet pulling up when we received this.

Pros:

Assembly: there are only a couple screws(2 on each side I think?)to attach the "legs" to the top piece. It took me 2 minutes

The front part of the toy is actually really neat. They should have stopped there. There are several different activities requiring different types of actions from baby. The music played for each is cute and not annoying like other toys we have had.

Cons:

Once my baby tried to pull up on this toy things went downhill. When pulling up to a stand from either the front or back, the entire toy falls over. More than once it bonked her in the head and once it gave her a good bruise. She was actually DISCOURAGED from pulling up after that! Then, once we convinced her to try to use the toy from a standing she got going way to fast, the wheels caught on the carpet and she fell face-first into the toy.

We ended up taking the "legs" off of the toy after that. She played with it propped up on the table on a regular basis. it was constantly falling over, however, since this isn't what it was meant for...

Overall, I would not recommend this toy at all, and it's just not worth the price to not use the legs and just play with it on it's own.

Jungle Speed

Jungle SpeedJungle Speed is a great game to liven up your Friday night.Basically the game consists of a totem that sits in the middle of the table. As the players flip their cards sequentially, matches occur and trigger a mad grab for the totem.

I owned the original version of the game that included a fine quality heavy wooden totem, which in theory is a nice perk.In practice and by practice, I mean several beers into the evening, the smaller wooden totem was not as "kid" friendly (or drunk friendly) as the new version, which includes the plastic yellow totem.

The game always starts out only as civil as a British tea party, but two rounds in erupts into a shout out at the ok corral. I love this game.

My nieces and nephews also love this game. They learned the rules quickly (faster than the adults did) and they love to play. Now, its usually hard to pry them off from their game box and its simply great to see them enjoying a game that does not plug into the wall.

This is my favorite new game. Playing it results in a lot of laughter, so don't buy it if you don't like laughing. This is a card matching game that's enjoyable for anyone from the kids to grandma. The rules are complex and the cards are easy to confuse because the game is played at warp speed and you must make decisions quickly. Sometimes you win a play by hesitating, but the usual route to victory is quick reflexes. As the Jungle Speed folks claim, "It's tense, it's manic and it's a bucketful of laughs".

Jungle Speed is a fast paced game requiring eye-hand coordination, and is hilarious in a group setting. Each person is dealt cards with geometric images on them, which are turned over one by one at each person's turn. There is a wooden "handle" in the center of the table, which must be grabbed speedily if an image card matches anyone else's card out on the table. It is a great game with lots of laughter and good competition. After playing it at our house, many friends have bought it, too.

We love this game. Everyone can test their reflexes and concentration. To compete over the ability to recognize simple shapes and colors faster let's kids get an advantage over their parents. The game is easy to master (2-3 rounds), each round is only a few minutes long, so it lets you invite your guests during a party as well.

The cards will look a bit worn out after a while, but this will not influence the game at all.

We may have to force people to try it, but once they sit at that table we have to force them out the door sometime after 3 am.

This game is fabulous for the kids: it teaches observation and hand and eye control

For the adults its a great test of speed and observation as well. We never have a game where we aren't laughing and having a blast.

It is very creative and one of the hits of the party when people come over or the kids want to play with Mom & Dad.

We sent this out to family for Christmas presents last year and plan to hit friends with the same gift this year!

Give it a shot, your groupwhether family or friends will enjoy it!
