I spent a lot of time researching air hockey tables and found limited information.I purchased this table using the scant information avaiable.I put it together and within 30 minutes determined that I need to take it apart and return it.This is a decent table, but not for anywhere close to the price ($700+).The reasons I concluded it is extermely over-priced are:1.The table has dead spots all down the side that has the scoring unit and extending out in places to four of five inches. This is the reason I am going to return it.
2. Cheap quality materials for the price. The table is made of particle board with a black lamenant surface. The lamenant is not done well.It was pealing, split and had dings in it right out of the box.The leveling legs look like the are made of metal in the picture, but they are actually a very cheap and flimsy looking plastic. They dont look like they will hold up for the long haul at all.If I were keeping the table, I would go out and buy some better quality footings.
3. The paddles that come with the table are as cheap and poorly designed as I can imagine. They are hollow plactic forms that you stick felt to.However, the felt adhesive is not nearly strong enough to hold on to the paddle. In 10 mins of testing with the kids, the felt came off of 3 of the 4 paddles in no time.If I were going to keep the table, I would have to buy some better paddles.
All around, this table is disappointing and Fat Cat should be embarrassed to sell such a product at least at the price.I certainly would not expect this to hold up well for any time. The assembly was easy, it took less then a half hour.We have a problem with adjusting the electric eye's at both goal ends to track the scoring. So far we have not been able to adjust it properly, but should be able to correct the issue according to tech support.
