Fan Shape Free Standing Playing Card Holders - Includes 2 Card Holders

I purchased these card holders so that my mother and I could play cards again. She has severe arthritis in both hands and holding cards over playing time became too painful. She can play for as long as we like now and would not be without them. (I also purchased an automatic shuffling machine, again, as she could not properly shuffle due to arthritis.)

Before purchasing, I had read the review noting the strongly unpleasant odor. Sure enough, when I opened the package, the smell was very strong of petroleum/black tires -enough to give one a headache if exposed for too long. So, I put them outdoors in the sun for two days. The smell evaporated almost entirely and has not returned (over a year now.) So, if the thought of the smell of black rubber tires turns you away, try that and you may be pleasantly surprised. (Someone else suggested to me that putting them in the dryer might also accomplish the odor removal.) For those below who tried various things that didn't work, maybe my luck with the strong sun.Both my mother and I have a really keen sense of smell (my mother particularly who can smell anything, anywhere and frequently develops headaches to odors, so it's not simply that we are more tolerant of odors.)

The product did the job functionally as advertised, however, the strong rubber odor was overwhelming and did not go away.In fact, it also made our cards stink and gave us a headache when we used it.We ended up throwing the product away and buying a different brand of card holders and new playing cards.
