let's rephrase that.
it's a vacuum. it looks like a robot.
bottom line? it's a vacuum that looks like a robot. if you're thinking it's a mini-roomba... think again. it's not. you manually push it around to vacuum crumbs.
it looks nice, it looks cool, it cleans.... plus it looks like a friggin' robot. You have to read the add carefully, and not go by the picture. The actual product is black and white, not red as is pictured. It is a low-powered vacuum in the shape of a robot, not a robot that can move by itself. It does not have wheels just two molded areas that sort of look like wheels, but are just part of the molded base.
The access to install/replace batteries will probably drive parents nuts. Have your 6 year old replace them for you. You have to give the top a slight counter-clockwise twist, and then remove it. You then have to do the same with the motor housing. It requires a bit more of a twist the the top. At this point, you need a phillips screwdriver to remove the screw in the battery compartment cover door. You have to completely remove the screw. Then you can slid the door up and remove it. This exposes the battery compartment. Now, the AA batteries go in, one on each side of the motor. They are a snug fit that makes removing then a problem. Once you install the batteries, you have to slide the door back in place. You may have to push the batteries in against their springs to get the door to close. The door has a connector plate the connects the two batteries in series. You can then re-install the motor housing, making sure the arrows on the two tabs line up with the arrows on the inside of the base.
On second thought, you may want to skip installing batteries. The vacuum system is not too practical. There is an impeller that sucks air up from the center of the base, and blows it through screens around the outside of the impeller housing, through small grills on the front and back of the robot. When you turn it off, the stuff stuck on the screens is supposed to fall into a compartment at the bottom of the robot. Emptying it requires removing the top and motor housing. But with the limited suction, you will not have to empty to very often.
I think the one I purchased is going to sit on a shelf somewhere gathering dust...I bought this to use in my office to clean my desk. This vacuum is really good. It is quiet too (I also bought an elephant vacuum and it is really loud) I received the red one which it cool, it looks so cute on my desk! I tested it as soon as I put batteries in. It picked up eraser stuff, pencil shavings, papers holes, even staples. (I didn't mean to pick up the staple but it sucked it up!)My Husband wants one now too. This little vacuum is very functional and really does suck up crumbs, as long as the crumbs are on a flat, hard surface like wood. It doesn't work very well on most types of fabric but i don't think it was made for that anyway. The only con to this purchase was that I couldn't choose the color of the robot. It just sent whatever color it felt like. Nonetheless it is a neat little toy and i would recommend it.Just don't works, poor quality on wires, I had to open to connect the loose wires, the electric motor have not power enough
