ACME 02030 Winona Twin/Full Bunk Bed with Study Desk, Black Finish

ACME 02030 Winona Twin/Full Bunk Bed with Study Desk, Black FinishPros:

Stylish.

Solid and well built.

Plenty of head room for the lower bunk. Anyone under 6' should be able to situp with no problem.

Top bunk can fit an 8" thick mattress with enough rail room to not worry about "rollout".

No bunky board needed (but I recommend it if you are using memory foam mattresses).

Top bunk appears to be able to support at least 160 pounds with no problem.

Cons:

The dimension is a lie! This bed takes up A LOT of room! This is due to the angle of the lower bed, the length came out to about 90" and the width about 100".

The triangle wood table has no holes in it, so you will have to drill it yourself.I'm sure it's not something your average self do'er will look forward to.

The triangular area that is behind the lower bed (behind the magazine "rack") is a waste of space.

The rods on the ladder is pretty hard on the feet, although my kids said they were fine with them.

** Update on Dec 5th:

We've had this for 3 months now.I feel I need to comment more on this bed.Whenever the person sleeping on the top bunk moves around, you will hear the joins squeak.I tried to oil down a few joins, but it didn't seem to help. The noise level is comparable to a squeaking cabinet. It is not that it feels like it is going to collapse, it is the fact that the squeaking sound can disturb the person sleeping at the bottom. If you have a person that toss around all through the night on the top and the person at the bottom being a light sleeper, this can be a problem.

I am removing another star because of this. Now I really wished I had purchased this other bed that I bought for another room instead.Do a search "Walker Edison Twin over Full Bunk Bed" in amazon, I got it for 199 dollar at the time and it is much better than this bed.I am going to write a review for that bed.

Conclusion:

My kids love this bed, but they probably would like any bunk bed.

It is sturdy and I really like the head clearance for the lower bunk.

I can not say it enough, it takes up way too much space, hence, I can not recommend it.

This thing looks as sharp all put together in the room as it does in the picture. The other reviews here were very helpful prior to placing the order. There are ups and downs to any product, just make sure you know what you are getting. Angling the bottom bunk does leave a space behind the head board, but for me it fits a floor based reading light just perfect. I have an arched one that peeks just over the headboard. The desk is very sturdy too. Look over all the parts before you start putting it together. Depending on your strength, you may need a little bit longer wrench to insure the bolts are torqued; otherwise, the frame will move and squeak when used. Being familiar with the overall construction will help you orient the pieces correctly, I almost made this mistake too (ex. one of the four corner posts has fewer holes than the other 3 since the front rail doesn't screw into it where the ladder is located). The pockets in the head board are a very clever design; especially since I like to read just before bed, they hold paper back books very nicely.

Bought this for our 5 year old! He LOVES it! It is TRUE that it takes up a lot of room and the full size bed comes out at an angle. This allows for our son to have a fort behind it! Extra special! We love the pockets on the headboard to display books, action figures and walkie talkies!!! The table is a great size! We can put together puzzles, play games, eat dinner,or put a computer there and watch movies while in bed! Super fun!! The ladder hurts my sons feet and the top bunkbed wiggles quite a bit (thats why I gave it 4 stars), so I envision we will need to tighten periodically!I'm trying to find somehow to cushion the ladder...But all in all...Our 5 year old LOVES his new bed!!!And we do too!!

My daughters picked out this bed on Amazon as they felt that it would be the best fit for them. They both wanted the top bunk, but then with this design the big one said she would prefer the bigger bed and everyone was happy. The little one also like that the ladder is not directly up and down.

The bed arrived on time in two large boxes. Installation took about an hour and a half with two people, but was surprisingly easy. Don't tighten the screws more than finger tight until the frame is installed. I had to reverse a part or two when I installed it incorrectly. This was easy because the screws were still loose. If you do not have a rubber mallet purchase one before installation. It made the job so much easier when installing the mattress supports.

A previous review stated the bed is large and takes a lot of room. That is accurate. I have space, so that was actually a good thing.
