Japanese Riichi Mahjong Set with White Tiles

The pieces are all quite well made and I love the carrying case that it all comes in.The dice could use being bigger, but you could use any old 6 sided dice you have laying around so it isn't a big problem.Thinking about how there is rating for educational value I thought about how you could use the game for teaching some math to children.Let them learn the score keeping and making hands in general is a good exercise in learning to go about objectives.I'd say that's the same with any game though really, but it just depends how you go about teaching your child.Overall I'm pleased with what I bought and it shipped faster than they had put for expected date of arrival by 2 days.

What to say... The product itself is enclosed in a box that appears durable enough to hold the tiles in but may have an issue if you intend to use it as a travelling case. The green "dragon", 発 is so dark that it may actually be black. Same goes for the other bamboo "ソウズ" tiles. The paint job on the other hand is mostly good except for some of the colour screw ups.

Note also that it comes with no instructions so you will have to look around online [or ask a Japanese friend] if you want to learn how to play Japanese Riichi Mahjong. So no Yaku "役" list, scoring table, mat or instructions. Just the tiles.

Yellow Mountain Imports doesn't have too bad a product especially since it costs close to $80 to import a genuine tournament-grade set direct from Japan. I don't have too much qualms against the set however as the customer service was excellent.

This is the standard set for all of your riichi needs.Along with the traditional tiles, it also features four red fives along with the (useless, but still nice) season tiles.Nothing was missing and everything was high quality.The carrying case it comes in isn't exactly a Fendi, but it is quite nice.The only minor problem with this set is that its tiles are entirely devoid of green.The bams and green dragon are painted black.This isn't exactly a flaw (it looks a tad more stylish in my opinion), but that's for you to decide.Other than that it's exactly what you're looking for.

bottom line Riichi mahjong is the best "board" game around. it takes quite a bit of practice to remember all the hands (like poker but much harder) and the constant reshuffling can get tedious, but it's SO worth it. I even built myself a nice table with green felt to play on. haha

This is the first mahjong set I have purchased from yellow mountain mahjong and I must say that I am very impressed.The set comes with everything needed to play a game of mahjong-riichi in a nice easy to carry case.The tiles are all very beautiful with only minor problems with paint that I noticed when very closely examining the tiles and dice.Overall, this set is definitely not the best set of mahjong, but is probably the best one can get for the price.
