The set is very cute. An updated and nicely-scented Strawberry Shortcake presides over the little market that could also double as a bake shop. The set includes is a cash register and a small table and chairs, sized to fit additional figures of Strawberry Shortcake's friends (not included). The cash register has a little drawer that opens with a "ding" and Strawberry's voice speaks cheerily to the customer. There is also a shopping cart, a couple of molded plastic shopping bags that fit neatly into the cart, and a variety of tiny play food (mainly fruits and sweets), as well as some pieces of tiny paper money. The shop also has a window and counter facing the outside so customers can order items "to go." The food included a few pastries, and there is a little oven which opens and a removable cake which "rises" when you open the oven. That was a fun touch. There is a second floor to the set.
Another reviewer mentioned how well-designed the set is, and I agree for the most part. The doll is very durable, and the set is less flimsy than some other plastic playsets. However, like many playsets, it has a few flaws which diminish the play value.
The first is, it includes only one figure. Clearly the manufacturer's plan is to get customers to buy those figures separately. But, c'mon, the manufacture could have included just ONE doll "customer" and made this a lot more fun; Strawberry has no one to sell to until you buy more figures or fish some other little doll out of the toy box.
Second, while there ARE a large number of pieces, those are mainly the small food items, little pieces of money, etc. In fact, they don't add up to much, in terms of volume or play value. It would have been nice if some furniture for the upstairs was included. Or a car for a shopper to drive up in...
As with many playsets, there is nothing to store the small parts in. And the set does not fully close up; it has one hinged half-door, but otherwise the set remains entirely open. This reduces its portability. It also means the small parts WILL get lost unless you find something-quick-to store them in. I wish the designers took these problems to heart when creating these sets. Doors that closed the set completely, a carrying handle, and a container for the small items that can be stashed inside the set would have been helpful touches.
Final complaint: the price tag of almost $40 seems a bit high. I think $25 might have been closer to the real value of the set. Throw in another doll and some extra furniture and it might be a different story.
That said, my daughter is enjoying the set and has been playing with it for almost an hour now.The Strawberry Shortcake Berry Bitty Playset has wonderful detail with itty bitty pieces!! I had bought this for my daughter for Christmas and I know this will be a great addition to her little collection. This is so much better than the last Berry playset they had come out with and has better improvements and little additions. There are so many things in this little Playset to do I love how, the drawers open and plays Strawberry's voice when you push the button. The price is worth if when you catch it at the right moment. The retail price is a little pricey but I had found it on a lightning deal!!! Love Amazon :)
Overall this product was a great purchase, it stimulates great imagination and hours of fun!

()My 5-year old is a huge Strawberry Shortcake fan, and has really, really enjoyed Strawberry's Berry Bitty Market. The market building itself is so-so as a playset there's not much to do other than pop cakes in and out of the oven or serve food through the to-go window but the many, many fantastically detailed little food pieces, the shopping cart and grocery bags, and the cash register with tiny money and credit card have been played with a lot! We already own Blueberry Muffin and Raspberry Tart figures, and our new Strawberry and her friends have had lots of fun shopping at the market, having birthday parties with cake and strawberry milk, and packing up food to go on picnics. It's a really nice set for old-fashioned pretend play.
Though we like this set overall, I think it's ridiculous that it comes with only one figure. I'm sure that my daughter wouldn't be having nearly as much fun with it if we had only Strawberry Shortcake to play with. So, while I would definitely recommend this set for those who already have a big family of Strawberry Shortcake characters, I wouldn't necessarily suggest it as a stand-alone item. Buy only if you are prepared to spend some more money on extra figures!

()For the price it isn't nearly as much plastic as something from Littlest Pet Shop of other small toys, but it does pack in just as much fun and surprises. It was easy to unpack and setup, the shop has a second floor and the little food items and money from the cash register were both highly prized by both my 5yr old daughter and 3yr old son. The pieces are small, but for the most part my kids are past that stage and most of the items are so small that they strike me as something that would pass through rather than be chocking hazard. It gets regular play around our house so if you your child loves Strawberry Shortcake as much as my daughter does, I'm sure it will be a hit around your house as well. If you're just shopping for a generic girls toy around $40, it's not a bad choice but you may get bigger "curb appeal" from a franchise like LPS or Polly Pocket.
Want Strawberry Shortcake Berry Bitty Market Playset Discount?
()I have little girls who for some reason go nuts over these little play sets that come with lots of itty bitty pieces. This Strawberry Shortcake market playset is cute but, I feel it's over priced for what you get.The set comes with one doll, which means you'll have to buy more dolls if you want Strawberry to have someone to shop in her store, loads of little food and money pieces, some furniture, an oven and a register.
The set is cute and little girls will certainly delight in playing with it, but I don't see it being a very durable product.Like most playsets geared to girls that are made by Habro, the construction isn't anything spectacular, and it's only a matter of time before the toy starts falling apart and frustrating your child while she plays. In short, the quality of the product is not worth the price. If the toy was priced in the $20 range I'd say it would be a better value for what you are getting.
