KidKraft Farm Train Set

My 5 and 2 year old love playing with this train set. I have fun helping them put it together too. We actually bought this so we would have extra pieces to go with the table set we purchased from Costco. If it's in your budget, I recommend a table so the kids aren't playing on the floor and if the table has storage is best. There are many to choose from.

PROS:

-Sturdy pieces

-Generous variety of pieces/ Many configurations/ Good replay value

-Encourages problem solving

-Fun for 1 kid or more

-Encourages sharing and playing together

-Encourages imagination (For extra fun, someone can use any monster toy and be like Godzilla destroying everything :-)

CONS:

-Pieces can get lost because there are so many. Just plan for storage and make kids clean up after themselves.

This set is adorable. The farm pieces and the whole thing set up is very cute. It's also very inexpensive compared to Thomas and other train sets. Unfortunately, the trains don't move along the track very easily. I was a little disappointed. My son still plays with it, though, so I'll give it three stars.

I bought this set for my toddler.She really enjoys it.However, I am really disappointed with the train cars.The magnets are really weak so the train comes apart going up the hills.Also, there is too much resistance against the wheels so the cars have problems on the track.I used other brand train cars on the track and had no problems.I am really disappointed because now I need to buy more cars.

This toy holds my 21-month-old's attention. But the trains dont stay on the track and the track doesnt fit together very well. The directions were also wrong, which made it a challenge to put together.

Compared to Brio sets this is an unbelievable price and it is completely compatible with Brio trains and add on play sets.Just a note to save you my embarassment, many of the pieces are reversible...they can be used on both sides.I thought that they had sent the wrong pieces until my husband pointed out that I could just flip some of them over.We have added additional Brio sets and the Thomas trains as well and they work perfectly with the tracks.Great quality too!
