The globe would have been decorative although the 12" is small for practical use.However, it arrived damaged with parts missing.It had been already returned by someone else and shipped to me "as is"; in fact it still had the return label on it from the other person.Bad experience from Amazon; not like other items I have previously ordered.
I bought this globe as a gift for my son.He had seen one in a store and said it was a beautiful globe, and finely detailed as well.He wanted this for his birthday before he headed to Baghdad for his first deployment as a 2nd Lt. It arrived promptly and in excellent condition.
