I umm and aahh about spending this sort of money on a train table and playboard for my children but after doing my homework I decided this is the one I would buy.

Other train tables I have seen in stores are often wonky and seem quite unstable and this is after they've been played on in the stores. So after seeing poorer quality tables for similar prices I decided to save up for the Thomas branded one and this single sided playboard.

Yes, it's expensive, but as with any "brand", it's the name you are paying for. If you want a Thomas collection of trains and accessories you are going to have to pay. I'm just starting our collection and am buying the "Thomas" trains and buildings, but found a compatible generic track for less than half the price. I was lucky enough to get this playboard at almost half price at a after Christmas sale. It's worth waiting for sales and price comparing.

It's beautifully painted and when used with the table frame is extremely strong (although I wouldn't recommend standing on it).

It's up to you to spend to decide if you want to spend this sort of money but I see this as something I won't ever have to replace and it's something my son can keep for his children. Toys like this will last!

I bought this play board for a train table that I built for my 2 1/2 year old grandson.The play board arrived with multiple scratches and several dents around the edges.The worst problem was that the board was warped approximately 1/2 inch and would not lay flat on the table.I thought that for $60 this would be something more than a laminated scene over press board.I would have returned it but did not want to disappoint my grandson.The cosmetic defects did not bother him.

This playboard is fine.It looks nice, is sturdy and, according to other reviewers, seems to do well over time.Prospective buyers should be aware, however, that the "Product Dimensions" as given on this page are actually the dimensions of the box the playboard is delivered in.The real product dimensions are 48" x 32".Unfortunately, I built a table for the dimensions as given thinking the "product" dimensions were actually the measurements of the "product," i.e., the playboard itself.Nope.Now my sons have a some extra room around the border, which isn't all bad, but I thought you should know.

This is one of the best investments we have made. It cleans up great. Actually last month my son decided to use a pen to this table top and the Mr Clean bar got it out. My son loves this and plays with it w/ everything. Thomas, Matchbox & Lego's. I would recommend it to anyone. Watch for the deal Toys r us has though... when you buy the table, you get the top free. Thats the BEST deal!

This is a nice board with a fun, colorful layout. This can be placed on the ground (my boys crawl on top of it) or it can be placed on a table. We prefer it on the ground so my little boys can reach everything. So far, (9 months of use) it is standing the wear of use. Overall, a nice purchase! I would highly recommend.
