Alex Rider 6" Figure - Alex Rider Variant

Alex Rider 6' Figure - Alex Rider VariantIt's hard to make a really good plastic action figure based on a living actor. I'm just amazed that people actually collect STAR TREK and STAR WARS figures based on living actors (without heavy costuming, that is). Action figures seem to look and work better when based on animals, or else on animated characters or artwork (Western comic strips and animation, Japanese manga and anime, etc.).

I think the makers of this toy should've taken a cue from the superb manga-based artwork of the Alex Rider graphic novels. As it is, the body proportions, face and hair fit a person who is at least three years too old (seventeen and upward, maybe even very young adult). Also, the joints are surprisingly stiff. However, the toy is very durable and well-wrought, and if one can imagine Alex having had three years and a considerable growth spurt come upon him, then a child (or a collector like me) could use this as a type of his final and committed (however initially reluctant) acceptance of his role as a spy.
