Scrabble Platinum Edition with Rotating Board

Scrabble is, well, Scrabble. Enough reviews have been written about Scrabble that I'll try to avoid duplication.

This particular set is reasonably well made. The board is sturdy, although plastic, and the recessed squares for letters are invaluable on a tossing boat, they'd also be usefull for tremors as one in our location has.

The holders, letters and pedestal all are substantial it's now almost three months into ownership and its still intact the box is sturdy, if large, and its easy to re-pack.

It was expensive for a game [personal and relative opinion], more than we've ever paid before, but this one really appears to be a case of you get what you pay for.

If you want a very functional Scrabble game that looks set to last years with evenminimal amount of care, then this could be ideal. If you need to show and display try the Onyx or Franklin Mint versions.

Everything you need to play Scrabble including a timer and score sheets. Of course you don't have to use the timer. Nice set, I wish the board had a layer of plastic over it to protect the cardboard like my Mom's old board. They don't make them like they use to... but this is probably the best of the newer boards. Most important, this one rotates unlike some of the cheap sets.

It should be a little less heavy. Nevertheless, I love it. I bought the standard game weeks before but had to put it away; the tiles moved all over when playing; this was distracting & very annoying. Some of them were smaller than the others in the same set. Too bad for the expense and the expectations. That's why I bought the platinum version afterwards.

Scrabble in the house is a must. This particular item is a bit too large and sadly, not well designed. I should reword that, too much design. The trim on the board is cumbersome, even unnecessary and the lazy Susan height is way too low. To resolve the issue, I placed a large book under it and that works well. The letters and bag are impressive but the letter holders are made of very cheap plastic which downgrades this product immensely. If they would get rid of the ~ one inch trim, raise the lazy Susan a couple inches and replace the holder with decent ones, I'd declare this version almost perfect. Also, many have mentioned the size which is a bit too much. You have to consider the weight a bit heavy. Storage is a problem due to its size but overall it works. The instructions are very well written with even a section for helping with strategy. I thought I knew how to play a decent game but the strategy section was enlightening. Recommend for a die-hard player but I'd be a bit leery to recommend this to a now-and-then player. Due to the hassle of setting it up, it may deter anyone from using it as often.
