ALEX® Little Hands My Rub Art
This is the most disappointed I've been by a toy resulting in my first review.The kit comes with black and white sticker sheets, paper scenes to apply the stickers to, and plastic "films" with textured patterns for rubbing color onto the stickers.The finished product is very cute but it certainly wasn't made to be a "lasting" toy...and thus, seems like a waste of money.The textured plastic sheets have a knob at each corner that the sticker sheets fit into so that they stay put when rubbing.However, there are only 5 scenes to be made and the plastic sheets are very flimsy.Thinner than a gladware container more like plastic packaging material that toys come encased in.One of the crayons is a "rainbow" of colors very cool in theory but the consistency allows it to melt even with a light touch it is so messy it just melts onto little hands, furniture, clothes, and is so thick when rubbed onto paper that you can't see the texture. I was hoping for something that would be more lasting and durable, providing more open ended play.
Only issues:cheap crayons (we just used our own) and the plastic texture sheets are very small (we had to tape the sticker sheet to the texture sheet).

This was a gift for my 3 year old, but it has been used more by her 5 1/2 yr old sister.It is well beyond my 3 yr olds ability, even with adult help.As others have said, the rainbow crayon melts too easily for it to even be used.The other crayons dont work particularly well either, but we have plenty of crayons.My biggest disappointment is the stickers.They are very thin (which may be nccessary for the pattern portion) and tear easily when they are being removed, at least when the kids do it.The worst part is, once stuck on the scene they can't be repositioned.If they are peeled off and reapplied they constantly curl off the paper.There are 2 sheets of stickers for each little scene, and to fit them all -or even mostis likely to require rearrangement, but don't move them around or they won't stick anymore!
I admit I love projects the kids can do fairly independently, or at least I don't have to feel like I'm constantly correcting them (or taking over), and this is not one of them.

I bought this for my three year old daughter who is into making "crafts." It's a fun activity for us to do together, but it won't last long because there aren't a ton of scenes to decorate. It's a great combination of coloring and stickers, which my daughter loves. I do plan on keeping the rubbing plates even after she's used up all of the stickers for the scenes. I'll just add them in with her other art stuff and she can use them to make designs on plain sheets of paper. The rubbing plates are not super thick, but I think they are pretty comparable to others I have seen. The biggest problem I have with this is the rainbow crayon, which is a joke. It is a really weird consistency and melted/smeared all over our hands when we tried to use it and smeared and made a mess if you touch the sticker that you colored with it....super messy. I purchased this for a gift and just found out that the attachment for the golf handle and one of the table tennis handles were broken and are unusable.What can we do to rectify this?I would like to return this since it seems to be so fragile they broke in shipping, I'm afraid they will all break with normal usage.
The set is very good as a starter set. I got it when I just got the system and it can be used with many games. The quality is ok. Probably not the absolute best, but has lots of variety. It was good for my son, because he has trouble orienting the remote, and these accessories help. Great for younger kids or those who are new to playing.Good items the product was just what I expected and it got here very quickly.Would definitely recommend the vendor to others.
One piece was broken, it was cumbersome to use & install controller and still run programs. It didn't add to the experience.
Harvil Tabletop Pool Table with Accessories
This is a pretty good pool table. It's small enough so that it doesn't take up much room in your home but big enough so that it's not trivially easy to pocket balls.To address another reviewer's concerns: The balls are a little small and this does mean that it's difficult to control english on the ball. Good position play is still possible though. The balls are pretty easy to get out of the pockets except when they're full (a pocket holds 7 balls). If you reach into the pocket with your palms facing the table (instead of away from it, which would be more natural), it's really easy to get the balls out. The reviewer must have had large hands or short fingers (no offense). To address her other concern, the balls aren't supposed to completely fill up the triangle (just like with the full sized pool balls and triangles); if they did, you wouldn't be able to remove the triangle without disturbing all the balls. What you're supposed to do is use your fingers to push the balls toward the front of the triangle and then hold them there gently while lifting away the triangle.
One thing to note is that there is no foot-spot or head-string on the playing surface and no markings on the rails. One more thing I want to mention is that I've had mine for a few weeks now and the felt around the pockets is already looking just a bit worn. I'm not sure if this is normal wear and tear or if we've possibly been scratching the felt with the cue (entirely possible).
Using the "Ghostball Aim" trainer I created and uploaded to Amazon(see customer image) is an easy and free way to improve without spending money on pool books. (You'll have to download the image and print it out to use it.) You can also cut away half (and a small semi-circle) of the object ball side and use it while playing without disturbing the balls.
Update: I forgot to mention that the pockets have a little hole on the bottom so that you can stick your finger in from underneath to push the balls up and make them easier to reach.Also, do yourself a favor if you buy/own this table (or any other mini-pool table) and get full-sized pool cues (sticks).It will feel more like real pool and help with your aim and stroke and ball control / position play.Get one with a smaller tip than the included mini-cues and you'll be able to control the cue ball better.One final word about the triangle: It is just slightly too big; when you push all the balls against the front, not all the balls will touch.I taped two pieces of cardboard (from a two-pack box of cereal) to one side with electrical tape and now it works perfectly.

I bought this for my six year old grandsons' birthday. I was very impressed with how durable and sturdy this product was. The only thing I didn't like was that there is only one pool cue and the picture shows two, other than that, it is a hit! He loves it and plays with it every day. Like another reviewer noted, I didn't like the rack because it was too large, but that is minor and it still works well. I recommend this for ages 5 and up. Fun for adults too.

Bought this nine months ago for my 9 year old daughter with her quantum pad.She wasn't too crazy about the quantum pad we got her for Christmas last year until I bought her this book for it.She loves it!It is the hit of the car whenever I take her friends somewhere.Although it may not be as "educational" as other books for the Quantum Pad, it still makes her think fast and answer quick problem-solving.I MUCH prefer my kids to play this over Gameboy mind numbing games for the car.

There are times when a little risk is worth saving a few bucks. On low-cost items you can find some true gems.An item like this is not worth that risk.
I'll be up front about this. I own a science toy store. I do not sell on Amazon, but I have seen this product offered by several sources. I am sorry to say that too many of them are fly-by-night operations with more than one name on Amazon. All of the discounters have one thing in common: They really don't know what they are doing with these engines and, more critically, they don't really care.
This is one place where you do not want to cut corners. A Stirling engine sent untested, by a company that cannot supply repairs & spare parts is not where you want to save money. You might save $10-20 and end up with a $80 paperweight.
The box they use say it is there own brand yet This is a product of another brand not there brand. (it looks to be the same) Would you buy a product that on the box says its product "A" only to find out it is product "B"? Why would you put your name on a product you are selling when it is clearly not your own brand?
There box does not even have the country of Manufcature (a legal requirement in USA) yet the product itself has Chinese characters on it so I assume it is made in China.
Dancing gears does not offer spare parts (as far as I can tell, they have no website and no mention or parts), no real instructions on how to operate the engine, It uses hot water than may burn people yet does not warn people that they can burn themselves, (yes this sounds dumb but if you buy an item in the toy category it is meant for children and safety is important),warranty is just a replacement (a waste) not a replacement of broken parts, (they do say a one year warrantyin their amazon store but I assume they just have you throw it away and they send you a new one?) emailed seller with questions about the item before I purchased it and Dancing gears never responded, no phone number of customer support, in general no pre and after sales support.
Their is glass in this engine that may break (needing replacement) as glass is fragile, the power piston can wear out (or get dirty) and need replacing, the screw holding the pieces together need to make sure they stay tight but not to tight, etc....
This item comes with a Allen wrench that is meant to adjust the engine if it needs adjustment yet the seller did not put in "his own special box" what the Allen wrench is for and how to adjust the engine if it comes out of adjustment. The one I bought squeaked when used and needed to be adjusted. Mechanical items by nature need maintenance.
when it comes to items that are scientific, for education, are mechanical in nature, quality control and assurance is as important as the product itself.
Why buy a scientific teaching tool that is sold as a toy that if it breaks you just throw it away? When you can get the real thing from business that knows the science behind what they are selling. (that you can call up or email and ask them to explain how to operate, adjust, and are knowledgeable about this engine)

Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Water Tower
My son had been asking for the Water Tower for quite some time, so we finally got it for him.The plastic that encases the liquid is very, very sturdy--and it has never leaked. (Believe me...my son puts his Thomas accessories through the paces!) It's quite heavy, and fits right onto the wooden railway. By moving the black spout up and down, the blue liquid appears to empty and re-fill.
Kids seem to be fascinated with it, including my son. I definitely recommend the Water Tower as a neat accessory to any wooden railway system.

First let me say that we haven't actualy given them to our grand daughters and grand son yet, as they are christmas presents. i will say that we have played with them for several hours so far and find it to be pretty cool. it works as its supposed to regarding the different funtions. the music player works with MP3's and it sounds great. you will be surprised at the quality of sound the speaker puts out. Its not a bosse but its pretty darn good for the size of speaker. the video player works good.i installed a movie onto the SD card (AVI) and its picture quality is dammed good for being a toy as well as the sound. i will ad that there are no controls for the video player. meaning when you start a movie your only choices are exit or watch till end, theres no pause, FF, RW, Stop, and if you want to stop it you have to go back home and when you return to the movie you will have to start watching from the begining. with the Vtech website you can buy more games and books and they are basicly free because you can use "V-COINS" that your child earns from playing. but they also give you 7 v-coins when you get a new innotab. the ebooks are very good, the only thing i didn't like was that only certain words can be chosen to click on to get the meaning, only the ones that are highlighted. it has a datebook/calender that you can ad notes / appointments to, this seems good for helping a young child to develope skills on taking responsability for appointments and being on time. and it has a calculator, the pictures also look pretty good. and the slide show feture works well. so far i have installed onto the 16GIG SD card 3 movies, 6 ebooks, downloaded 9 games from vtech, 30 songs, about 20 pictures and we still have plenty of space on each card. the game cartridges don't actualy take space on the card so that leaves you plenty of space for music or videos.how to install music on your innotab?
when you get your innotab and SD card you will need to install the card, turn on the system, click on the icon for music. there will be one free song in there, do the same for the video icon. you need the innotab to create the folder you will use later. once you have clicked on music and video and backed out. turn off the Innotab, NOW your card is ready for receiving the files,you can install files by using the USB wire or remove the SD card from the Innotab and install it into your PC SD card reader. (the later is faster)
if your using the USB wire connect it to your PC, go to the Vtech website and download the Vtech Learning Lodge, and install it onto your PC, open that program and click on file manager, there you will see the Tabs for Music, Movies and Pictures. the music and pictures install simple, but you wil notice that the movies feture doesn't work. to install movies just use windows to install the movie file into the folder thats Marked "MOVIE"...open my computer, then look for removeable drive, then LLT, then open the folder that says Movies and just paste your movie in, eject and your done.
let me also say that the batteries die pretty fast so i recomend getting the AC adaptor. i feel that considering the Price Vtech should have included one for free. also the pouch is pretty well made. its a neopreen so it offers a little padding.
oh also i want to note that the touch screen doesn't work that good. when your try and swipe the screen it sometimes eccedently chooses an item rather then moving the screen. i'm not all that sure if thats me or the screen. but the pencil seems to work better then a finger.

I'm pretty sure, despite the few "less than perfect" reviews, that the LeapPad does not have expandable memory.....which is why I went with the Vtech Innotab in the first place.From what I've seen, the Leappad only has 2 GB, and does not have expandable memory.I put a 16 GB SD card in both of my daughter's tablets and modified the specs so that I could put some kid movies on it.It looks like I can put about 5 or 6 movies on it (leaving room for the educational stuff, of course).The picture quality is great.I'm giving these as Xmas gifts, so I'm working with the tablets at the moment and getting them set-up with movies, etc.So far, I'm impressed.My only concern is the screen.....I'm considering putting a screen protector on them just so that my littles don't end up scratching them, some how.I put screen protectors on everything so that they last.My goal is that they'll leave my iPod alone.:)

The Vtech is "faster".By that I mean it powers on and off more quickly.Also, games seem to start more quickly.
Voice prompts. They are about equal.I think the same guy recorded the lexicons for both machines.
Clarity of instructions.Both machines are very good.
Screen responsiveness.From my experiences the LeapPad is better.There are some times when the Vtech just doesn't respond.
Styli.The LeapPad comes with a soft tipped stylus to protect the screen.It broke right away.However, by daughter manages just fine with her finger.The Vtech comes with a hard tipped stylus and is not likely to break.That's good because with the Vtech there are times when you need a stylus.That's bad because I can see the screen getting damaged.
Durability. The LeapPad feels more durable.
Sharing.The LeapPad supports four named accounts and a guest.The Vtech only one named account and a guest.
Ability to take pictures and videos.The LeapPad is the clear winner since it has a camera and the Vtech doesn't.
Ability to transfer pictures and videos.The Vtech is a clear winner.After putting in an SD card I connect the device via USB, it shows up as a drive, and I drag/drop .JPGs and .AVIs from my camera to it.I still haven't figured out a proper combination of parameters to get ripped DVDs to be recognized.(The ones in the manual are both non-stadard and don't work.)
"Funness" of games.For the games I've tried that are similar on both devices the LeapPad version tends to be more interesting and fun to play.At least judging from my daughter's reactions.
Educational value of games.For the games I've tried that are similar on both devices the LeapPad version tends to offer more educational content.
Bottom Line:For even money I believe the LeapPad is the better choice.At current prices (except, apparently on Amazon) where the LeapPad is about 20% more I would still got with it.However, there are things that speak for both devices and neither would be a bad choice as a gift for this holiday season.

I was very excited when I found this product, especially for its capability to load videos. However, when I received the product I was disappointed.....it has no memory whatsoever (so you will need to purchase a separate memory card if you decide to purchase this).
The touch screen is not as responsive as I would have hoped for ( I understand it is a child's toy and not an iPad, but I expected something a little better than this)
The biggest disappoint I had(even though I am very good with computers) was that it was very difficult to upload videos. I think its video upload capability was referring to uploading home videos vs movies, which the preview of this product mislead you to think with the Cars 2 preview.
In all it is not a horrible product. My girls do enjoy playing with it. My expectations were too high for it I guess.

Butterfly 401 Shakehand Table Tennis Racket
I have several Butterfly rackets (Senshu, Carlos Chiu, Kodo, Kioshi, Naifu) so I have used a decent variety of paddle to comnpare the 401 Yuki to. I was actually looding to buy the Kenji to add to my collection, but I came across this paddle and decided to chyeck it out as it was $12 cheaper than the Kenji. Of the paddles I own, the Senshu is my favorite and it was not cheap at arounf $70. When I found this racket I was skeptical of it because of the cheap price ($35), but I decided to take a chance and order it and worst case I can use it a practice racket so I don't ding up my Senshu too bad.The racket came in a day earlier than expected and I was pleasantly surprised. The racket uses Butterfly Yuki rubber onboth sides. My Senshu racket uses Flextra rubber and the Yuki rubber on this racket feels as sticky, though not quite a powerful as the flextra. The tape on the side of the racket is a very nicenylon ribbon material and it gives the racket a classy look. In play, the racket is ver well balanced with great spin and control, making this an ideal racket for the intermediate player. It also has 2.1 mm rubber which gives it a little extra "oomph" on slams.
Overall, I am very hapy with this racket, while not as fast as my Senshu, it is half the price of that racket and has 9/10's the performance.

This is the first paddle costing more than about $10 that I've ever bought.Many of my coworkers who I play with like Butterfly paddles, so I figured I would go for one of these.The well-made soft carrying case that comes with it is a nice bonus for me.
It's a very nice paddle.Significantly heavier than a cheap lightweight one, which I find helps me control it.The rubber is very sticky and soft, which gives me an amazing amount of spin and control.In particular, I am able to return smashes and execute loopy top-spin shots far better than I have ever been able to before.However, this paddle also deadens the ball in terms of speed.I really have to smash it hard to get much speed out of the ball.For me this is a good thing, since I have a lot of trouble with control with harder paddles, but some players might not like it.
Overall, I'm very happy with this paddle, but as I said I don't have a lot of experience to make good comparisons with other products.I think just about any beginner or intermediate player would be very happy with it.

I've used it several times and it performs above expectations.Case is handy, and rarely is one included at this price.
This is one Chinese import I do recommend buying.Just make sure you also get some liquid surface cleaner, as you would with any other paddle that has "stickiness."

Slightly disappointed with performance of this paddle; noticably heavier than several other paddles I have, but rubber is very tacky as advertised. Nice carying case included, which is nice. Handle felt shorter than I would like, but is same length as other "shake hand" styles; must be contour of the handle. It took some getting used to, but it's actually not a bad paddle. I can feel more strain on my wrist from the weight of the paddle while playing a lot of spin. This is my 5th paddle and no where near finding my ideal one yet. I'm more of a speed player than spins and this slows me down just a smidgen. I prefer very light paddles that can generate more speed than spin.

This table and chair are durable, classic, sturdy, and "ergonomically correct." Best, there is NO ASSEMBLY required! The chair came as is right out of the box, and the table only required me to screw the legs in by hand. It took two minutes. My daughter loves the "cut out" for her tummy as well as the high back to the chair [plus the easy-to-carry feature]. She enjoys drawing, having tea parties with her dolls, and snacking at this table; and so far it has resisted all her climbing and moving. I heartily recommend this product.
It is nicely made, but I will have to buy another table and chair pretty soon. If it is too short for 1.5 years old, it is definitely too short for the recommended 2-3 year old.Our three year old loves her desk and chair.They are very sturdy and seem well built.They came right out of the box, almost no assembly required.The finish and construction is really nice and she seems very comfortable drawing and playing.Overall very pleased.

I've been looking for a table this size since our son was 9 months old.We finally found this table just after his first birthday.We ordered it for him to eat his meals at instead of strapping him into a high chair.It was very easy to put together, you only have to screw the legs in.But we noticed a significant chip on the top edge of the table and wanted to exchange it for a new one.I've emailed twice with absolutely no response.Kind of disappointing.Beside that we all love it especially our now 14 month old.He loves to sit in the chair and pull the table in for himself.It has helped with his independence and confidence.It's the perfect size (he's 24 lbs.)We hope he will also like to use it some time in the future for coloring or other small art projects.

My daughter was SO excited when we brought out her special table and chair and plays with it daily.It's become the spot for doing puzzles, coloring, feeding her babies and general PLAY.
It's small enough that she can move the chair and table around herself, but sturdy enough that she can't do a lot of damage to it either.
All in all, we are very pleased with this set!
