This is a fabulous game!First of all, the game mechanic is so simple, anyone can learn how to play it in less than a minute.So whenever I have friends who aren't into boardgaming over at my house, I pull this one out.

At the beginning of the game, you deal out treasure cards.The aim of the players is to reach the tile on which the treasure is printed.You do this by pushing tiles.As the players push the tiles the layout of the labyrinth changes.You can play this game with two to four players.With two players, it's more strategic since you have to worry about getting your treasures and preventing the other player from getting his.With larger number of players, the game becomes more chaotic and exciting because the labyrinth will be completely different by the time you get your turn again.

Basically, you should get this game.The simple gameplay combined with a high level of replayability makes this a must-have boardgame.

This strategy game is one of the best birthday presents my children ever got. You can play once or several times, and never grow tired of the game, as each set of mazes is different than the last.

Playing is a fabulous way to spend an afternoon or evening with your children. The game requires non-verbal skill and logic, but is fun as heck. Very often, the children do better than the grown-ups.

We love this game.It makes you think, so it keeps us all interested. This is one of the few games that we all enjoy playing together because it is challenging enough for our overachieving 8-year old, and also interesting for our 6-year old.It is difficult to find games that do all that these days, because the 6-year old is refusing to learn how to read well enough to be able to enjoy "older kid" games, and we have all become bored with the "little kid" games.This game requires no reading, which (obviously) is a plus for us right now.

I have never written a review -I don't ever want to take the time to do it, but I simply must give my two cents worth on this one.I am buying a couple for gifts -it is AMAZING.I am a game-a-holic and fortunately I have two boys (ages 7 and 9) who play games with me.This is by far one of our favorites.They like it for the "treasure hunt" factor... I like it for the strategy and the durability.It definitely requires some strategy to find your way to your destination, but my 7 year old can beat me MANY times -and I'm trying my best!I think it is simply brilliant, and I HIGHLY recommend it.The only negative thing I can think of is that because the board folds in half, it is tricky to slide the pieces over the "hump" the fold creates.This is a minor drawback -not worth skipping the purchase.I can't say enough great things about this one.There.I've written a review.

This game deserves all of the 5 star reviews. The concept is simple, the execution is nearly flawless, the possibilities are endless.

Each player's task is to work their way around the board to find treasures. The only problem is, the paths around the board shift on every move. You might be one space from your treasure at the end of your turn, then find yourself on the other side of the board on the next turn. Conversely, there is often a path from one corner of the board to the diagonal opposite corner for a clever player to discover.

With three or more players, cooperation comes into play. "I'll help you if you help me," becomes a strategy to beat another player who has gotten ahead. This can get very interesting, as players can use their move to block other players instead of getting themselves closer to their goal.

Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway - Figure 8 Set Expansion Pack

I purchased this expansion set, along with the Thomas and Friends Water Towr Figure 8 Set, for my 2 year old this past Christmas. The expansion set was an afterthought, prompted in no small part by the manufacturer's promotion running at the time (50% off this set with the purchase of a Figure 8 set).

With the conclusion of many initial hours of intense playtesting (an ongoing process, with no termination in sight), my son agrees that this is an essential choice for any but the most basic (read: boring) wooden railroad layout. This expansion pack comes with switch tracks, and allows little train engineers (and their dads) to reverse directions or explore different parts of the railway. In retrospect, I think that I would have been dissatisfied had I not purchased this set to complement the basic Figure 8 layout, promotional price or not.

As far as the quality, the Learning Curve wooden track is made from hardwood, and is more substantial than many other brands of compatible track (i.e. Maxim, First Learning, etc.). This is a consideration when your child insists on taking the track apart by him/herself to put away. We have already broken a couple of pieces of generic track this way, since the male end of the connectors is a bit weaker than the rest of the track.

Overall, we are quite satisfied with this set, and look forward to many more hours of enjoyment.

Most Thomas sets are constructed in such a way that require you to buy additional dual ended pieces in order to be able to connect them to other sets and this expansion set was the only thing I found that included a couple of these extra linking pieces.Not only does my 3 year old son have endless hours of fun putting the tracks together, but my husband and I also really enjoy putting them together in a variety of ways.These tracks act like a puzzle that grows with your child as he develops.Our son started learning to connect them end to end, then he began connecting them in circles and ovals, and he is beginning to experiment with layering in figure eights and using bridges.I highly recommend this set to anyone who wishes to make Thomas track building easier while enhancing their child's ability to learn through building.

My grandson was obsessed with Thomas for a full three years, and he got just about every Thomas Train and accessory available. These are wonderful toys, well-made and he played with them for hours. However, when the train phase is over, it is over. You don't need to pay the rather high prices for new Thomas stuff there must be another child who has just outgrown his and you can get it used. It will still be in terrific condtion and just as much fun to play with.

We ordered the track expansion set and were very excited.We have been using the brand Thomas the Train tracks by Learning Curve for three years and we have never broken a track.The new pieces we received seem as though they are made from different wood.I noticed when we opened them they were different, but I thought maybe it was b/c it had been awhile since we added to our collection.Not even one week of play (and really not hard play as they occasionally run a train on it!) and one of the straightaway pieces developed a crack and splintered off!What??I know. I looked at the off brand track when I ordered and thought 'No I will pay more because I want this track to last.'I do like the switches and the T track, but for the cost vs. quality it does not add up.Buy the off brand and save your money.What a disappointment.

We got this for our 20 month old son when his train collection got to big for his figure of 8 track set and when you showed an interest in putting track together by himself. The item came with all the pieces in the photo description. This set goes well with a standard figure 8 track set (or bigger) and there is manual inside that has track set up suggestions for combinations of certain track sets. I would not recommend getting this set unless you have other track sets. It is not good as a stand alone set, but as I mentioned it is great to expand even a simple figure 8 track set.

Bruin Mini Work Bench

This toy is indeed quite loud. However, I would love a power switch even more than a volume switch. If this toy gets stuffed into a toy box after clean-up time, or even knocked over during playtime, it is prone to being pushed up against neighboring toys that will make the workbench go off. There is no auto-off either, so you have to dig it out to solve the problem. I'm surprised that the batteries have been going strong on our workbench for over a year now.

All complaints aside, my son (now about 2 1/2) does like this toy. He also likes to use the included hammer and screwdriver to "fix" his other toys.

My 7-month-old son loves, and I mean LOVES, this tool bench.It's very sturdy; he's constantly tipping it over, and obviously, given the fact that it comes with a hammer, it's meant to be whacked.He's also teething, and the various pieces have stood up to the abuse of his sharp little choppers.I like that the tools are quasi-realistic (I mean, as much as they can be for a kid's toy) -the circular saw really spins, the drill presses down when you pull the lever, and the sounds actually sound like real tools.

I'm docking a star because the sounds are VERY loud and there's no volume or on/off switch, though I remedied the volume issue by putting a bit of clear packing tape over the speaker.The other thing I don't like is that on our unit, it takes quite a bit of force to whack the "nails" so that they'll trigger the sounds -more than even my 2-year-old daughter could muster.

Overall, it's a solid toy.I'd recommend it.

My 18 month old got this as a Christmas gift and she loves dancing to the music it plays when you pull down on the saw and drill.Overall the quality of the bench and tools is good so no complaints there.The issue we have with the toy, like so many toys built for kids, is the volume is set way too loud and there is no way to turn it down.So I took matters into my own hands I pulled all the screws out of the bottom and pulled it apart.The speaker is very easy to find and just takes two screws to take out.Once the speaker was out I just put some small pieces of tape over it and a few pieces over the holes in the bench where the sound comes out (I put the tape on the underside so it is not visible from the top of the bench).When it was all back together we had a work bench that the little one can enjoy and my wife and I no longer want to hit it with a real hammer.

Step2 Fort Slide Away

The slide is nice because it is very tall and even our 4 year old has fun on it. Our two year old loves it. The tent is a nice feature and the kids like to hide in it and play. So, as far as slides go, this is very nice and the kids have fun. However, as a parent, it makes me nervous. It seems a little on the flimsy side and when our 4-year old climbs to the top I find myself cringing because I can see the entire thing sway and it wouldn't take much for her to topple it. It is held together by snap-fit pieces that you screw into eachother. However, the screws are small and short and I have no confidence that this thing won't collapse one day. Also, I am a very handy person and good with tools and building things, and the assembly of this was on the difficult side. The slide itself was easy enough, but the tent was frustrating to assemble. The directions are very poor and the pictures so small it is hard to see what they are asking you to do.

Bottom Line: Good slide for younger, skinnier kids. If your kid is 2 or 3 and on the lighter side, this is an excellent slide. For kids over 3 or who weigh 40 or more pounds, you will cringe every time they climb the later and the thing sways like it is going to collapse. I really wish it we not quite so flimsy.

We bought this slide for our son on his 2nd birthday. As other reviewers have stated -assembling the tent is a pain. Also, the long pole that goes along the bottom and connects the slide to the ladder was broken and we had to get a replacement from Step2. Their customer service was excellent, though. :)

The thing I dislike most about this slide is that darn pole going along the bottom of the tent. It is about an inch thick and runs the whole length of the tent floor. This makes playing in the tent less comfortable because you always have to maneuver around the pole so you don't sit on it. My boys wanted to put a sleeping bag in there and "camp" -but there is no way you could lay down comfortably without putting some pillows or cushions to protect you from the pole!

Another word of caution -we originally assembled the slide inside with the intention of keeping it indoors. We came to our senses the next day when we realized that if the slide is indoors, our toddler will climb it ALL DAY. This means that we would have to be there to catch him ALL DAY since he was brand new to the whole slide concept. So -outside it went. Or so we thought. The wide base on the back of the slide would not fit through our sliding glass doors. :/ We had to take the back end apart in order to get it outside.

Overall, we like the slide... but if I had it to do over again, I think I would've gone with the plain version. Or better yet -the one that folds up for easy storage. I bet that one can fit through a doorway without having to be taken apart!

We purchased this slide for our two boys as a birthday gift.The idea is really great its supposed to be a slide and playhouse in one, multipurpose, double duty and space saving if you will.However the concept was not carried out well and as other reviewers have mentioned it is a pain to put together but even with it completely put together there are not enough screws to hold the playhouse tent up underneath the slide. There are areas where the tent sags and there are no grommets for screws to hold it up.Not sure how something like this could be overlooked but it is. Not only does this make the tent difficult to play in it makes the unit more prone to falling and tearing because it is not supported properly to begin with.As for the stability of the slide that another reviewer mentioned, my slide is stable it does not move or appear to be wobbly and we use it indoors so we didn't even stake it to the ground as the product indicated. However I would not recommend this product due to poor engineering and concept execution.The product is good quality as far as materials and colors etc, but it doesn't come together so its a no-go for me. This is the first product I have ever had something negative to say but I think it merits a review to warn other potential buyers.Especially because this item is so big it cannot be easily returned. So unless it is free I wouldn't waste time or money on it. Sorry Step2 this was a miss.

I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old. It is pretty fast which is fun for my boys. Sturdy. Good quality. There is a place for them to grip their hands all the way up the ladder. My 1 year old climbs this no problem. Of coarse I do have to stand behind him at the top to make sure he sits far enough from the edge, but like I said, he's 1 (just turned). When I look for a slide I always make sure that at the top of the slide there is enough room for them to move around up top so they can easily sit down. This slide is great. I will post a picture looking down at the slide so you can see.

Like other reviews our BIG complaint is the assembly. My husband created his own holes to make the tent fit. he kept saying that the company shorted us on material. VERY poor instructions.

Kikkerland Awika! Windup Colors May Vary

Awika is my husband's favorite Kikkerland toy, and it's easy to see why.Awika has a huge wind up gear, he can crawl over lots of stuff, and his rear end shoots sparks as his little rubber feet race along the ground! Very cool, and so different from today's concept of "toys."Oh, and they're not just for adults please see my note on kids using these (below).

These little gear box wind-up toys are soooo much fun (you can watch all of the action take place the toy has an "open" build). My son and I found these toys by Kikkerland while on vacation, and I decided to purchase them from Amazon.Cosmojetz is the most active of all the Kikkerland gearbox toys, but Awika may be the most exciting to watch because it has so many feet, walks over most things, and shoots very small sparks out its rear!

Don't set any of these toys near the end of a table or desk, or they may fall off and break.All of the keys and feet differ between the Kikkerland gear box toys, so you never know what you'll get.Almost entirely metal parts, these toys will last forever if you/your child do not abuse them (e.g., drop, smash, etc.)

I bought a "Cranky" for my own desk and the Cosmojetz and the Awika for my 8 y.o. son, and they've been a big success!I only recommend these toys for responsible children who do not beat up or abuse their toys.These are not Mattel or Playskool toys, but are they cool and fun?Yep, way more unusual and cool than your average toy. Recommended!

I found this via the Kikkerland site a few years ago, and finally got one for my 5-yr-old daughter this Christmas. She loves it it's silly, and it cracks her up (would not recommend it for a younger kid, though, because of the winding you don't want to overwind, or wind backwards!). It was smaller than expected, and it does get gummed up from time to time (pet hair, etc.), but overall this is a cool little doo-dad. I'd love to have the whole set, if they were less expensive. I have purchased Awika, along with an assortment of the other wind-up toys from this line on several occassions, and I find myself looking for opportunities to give one of these fun toys to someone new.They are cleverly built and funny to watch -especially when you get more than one of them going at a time!One year, I gave them to all of my coworkers (a bunch of computer geeks), and they were a big hit.The next year, I wrapped up a bunch for my family and they each got to pick from the pile.Oddly enough, each person seemed to pick a toy that somehow matched his/her personality!

Also, if you're into "green" gift-giving, I believe at least of portion of the proceeds from the purchase of one of Chico Bicalho's designs goes toward conservation of the rain forests in South America.

This looks cool and that is pretty much it. Wanted a wind up toy to let kids play with and understand a bit of mechanics. But the gears always jam and this needs to be nudged to get it moving. We played for perhaps 10 times. Then while winding up, some tiny plastic pieces broke off and the metal strip sprang out. Luckily no injuries except for Awika. Since I had kept in the box for few months before giving it to the kids it was too late to return and Awika had go to the trash can. I think the design is poor. The gears that are not connected to both sides tilt away from the plane of rotation and hence they jam. Also a stronger plastic for the gear wheels would help.

My son received the Awika as a Christmas present from a dear family friend and we were all delighted. We had other Kikkerland wind-up creatures and had enjoyed them for years. This one moves in amazing ways and the sparks amazed us. Unfortunately, the Awika broke within an hour of opening it. The gears slipped making it impossible to wind.

No problem, we thought, we'll just call the company. A ten minute conversation with a customer service representative was entirely unsatisfactory. The company was not willing to replace or repair the toy. They, in fact, would take no action because we did not have the receipt. The Kikkerland representative said that they had no way of knowing how long we had had the product--the warranty only lasts 90 days. We explained that it had been a gift, and it would be quite awkward to ask the giver for a receipt (if she had in fact retained it). We explained that it was a Christmas gift and we were calling them on December 28. We know, like several other reviewers, have a very cool looking, but non-functioning toy. We are also disappointed in a company whose products we have enjoyed in the past.

The short of it: Expect this toy to break. Do not give it as a gift without enclosing the receipt.

The Bridge Direct Hobbit 4" Collector Figure: Bilbo Baggins - Wave 1

I got both the 3.75" and the 6" versions of thisfigure. While the 3.75" doesn't look too bad, the 6" figure looks pretty good. The face sculpt resembles the actor Martin Freeman playing Bilbo, pretty well. Maybe not as good as a likeness that Neca did with his Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy figure, but still pretty good. The accessories have a decent amount of detail as well as the clothing and while I leave my figures blistered to the card, it looks like this figure has decent articulation. The card itself looks pretty good, it's colorful and has a good shape. These figures are selling out fast everywhere, if you collect action figures or are collecting things for the upcoming Hobbit movie, you should get these affordable and good looking figures while you can.

While, I would love to say this figure is as good as the hobbits Toy Biz did for Lord of the Rings, it's just not so. The head sculpt looks enough like Martin Freeman, but the articulation is limited and the joints are places awkwardly. There's even a problem with Bilbo's coat jacket on my figure. Not very satisfied, but it's still neat. Good for playing with, but not great for long term collectors.

Playskool Clipo Basic Blocks Set

I saw these in the store and thought they looked interesting for my toddler.Easier than bristle blocks, bigger than legos my son happens to be a little behind in his motor skills so he doesn't stack things easily, and these blocks stayed on top of each other better than smooth blocks.He also likes to stack the flat shapes again, easier than regular blocks.

I've seen some bad reviews of these so thought I would put my 2 cents in, since I liked them.Maybe Playskool has the age a little high?Maybe they would be good for 9-24 months instead of 18 months and up?I can see little ones liking the nubs for chewing.The pieces aren't flexible or soft, but they don't have any hard corners, either.

Colors are bright, and I like that each shape has its own color... what I don't like is that I don't think I've seen a bigger set that includes blocks.This is the only one with cube-shaped blocks.The others all seem focused on vehicles and people.Also, I couldn't find them in my store recently when I went to buy more, so if the product dies out quickly, those of us with just a few pieces might be out of luck.

We received this as a gift for our three year old who has been using Megablocks, Duplo blocks, and Bristle blocks for over a year. All of those products are better than the Clipo. The Clipo pieces are difficult to put together correctly and don't stay put together except when stackedside-to-side. Bristle blocks are much easier to use and provide a broader range of options, even for older kids.

The only reason i gave it 4 starts instead of 5 is because some times the pieces can be very hard to get to stay together. Other then that, its great.

I was excited when these cute blocks came out.I loved bristle blocks as a kid, and these seemed similar but brighter and more durable.I was disappointed to see that cute is really all they are since they barely stick together.Anything you try to make with them falls apart.This frustrates my toddler to know end.

These are bright and durable, visually appealing to a young toddler, but IMO the age recommendation at 18m+ is too young. The pieces have to be rotated and lined up correctly to fit together, and are also quite hard to push together. If you don't push them all the way in with each other they fall apart easily. All this together is probably beyond many 18 monthers' abilities and could be very frustrating for a child it certainly was for mine. I ended up putting them away for later and replacing them with Krinklies, which are not quite so aesthetically pleasing but are physically much easier to deal with.

These are quality construction "tv dinner" tray tables.I would recommend staying away from the cheap $40-75 sets and look seriously at this item.These are not flimsy and hold up nicely.My only wish was that they also came in a Cherry wood and/or stain.

Kid Tough Fp3 Player Speakers

This is a great idea for a great marketing group . . . little kids who want to listen to music "just like the big kids." The FP3 has a few issues of it own, but the speakers were disappointing. The sound quality is not good. Even with the volume turned up it is difficult to hear. Another huge down fall is that a power cord is not available . . . so you can end up going through batteries pretty fast. To top it all off, my son has difficulty getting the FP3 correctly mounted into the speaker unit on his own. Overall we were very disappointed with this accessory.

I wish I had used this more with my older son (now 4) when we got the player.We were trying to get him to use it with just the headphones and for whatever reason, Fisher Price didn't think it would be a good idea to display either play or pause on the screen... so a parent can't tell if the music has started without taking the headphones away from the child, and well basically he would start crying and/or turn it off again before it started and we didn't use it much.

But, my younger son (just turned 2) discovered these speakers and the player sitting unused in the corner and has adopted it as his very own favorite thing.He has to have it everywhere, even in bed and at daycare.He can play the songs himself and navigate the menu, and since it has the speakers we can all tell if it's not playing and help him when/if he requires it (with the headphones its still another story... nobody likes the player with the headphones.)

So, for us the speakers are a must have.But there's another thing that prompted my review today:

I left this as a comment to someone else's review, but I thought it might be more useful here. We've had our player/speakers for over a year and it just started making this high pitched squealing noise within the last month.

I called fisher price today and they said this was a common problem. Even though the unit is a year old, and I have no longer got the receipt, they are mailing me a voucher for a new set of speakers.

They asked me to check the batteries in both units, and make sure the player was set correctly in the speakers. Our batteries were just replaced, and the unit works fine if you set it "just so" in the speakers but if you move it at all the squealing starts again.

Their number is 1-800-332-3457 press # for language (English is 1, French 2, and Spanish 3), and then they have an option for kids tough products (1) but it just kept telling me the line was busy and hanging up on me (!). So, after multiple attempts, I pressed (2) for "everything else" and got put on hold and actually helped.

Hope this helps someone...

Edit: I did purchase new speakers with the voucher from FP.The new speakers did not fix the problem.I purchased a new player to test the new speakers and it works fine with both sets of speakers (Old and new), so if you are having this squeeling problem, note that it may be the player itself.

FYI-The voucher must be used in an actual store, and not in an online store, not even FP's online store will accept it... and you can not return something bought with the voucher, only exchange, it shows up as being couponed off to zero. But the voucher is good for ANY FP or Matel toy, except for a few specific named toys.

My daughter loves her speaker and listens/dances to her "ipod" with it every day.When moved around (which is all the time) it makes a high pitched noise.We change the batteries, try to adjust the FP3 player in the speaker, turn the vloume down and nothing helps too much.So while the background noise is irritating, my daughter loves it so much that we live with it!

My son got the FP3 player for Christmas from Santa, and his grandparents got him the speakers.Just over the past week and a half we have had so much fun listening to all his favorite music together.He loves using the headphones, but the speakers are great when we all want to listen together.They're very lightweight, and the name Kid Tough is definitely appropriate. He loves to carry it around the house with him, and it can definitely handle the lumps and bumps that come with being toted around by a 3 year old.We really are all very pleased with this product. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who is purchasing the FP3 player.

I bought this for my daughters--now 4 and 6 yrs two years ago.It is still a well used item for them.The volume is good, it has been dropped and swung around many times and still works great. They have used it indoors and outdoors on camping trips, in the car and at home. The controls are easy for them to use on their own.I recommend this for everyone who buys the fp3 player--especially if you have more than one child.I haven't found that we need to replace the batteries too often--the speakers shut off themselves if it goes a while without being used.

PlanToys Preschool Foosball Soccer Game

I bought this as a gift to a family that has a 3 year old and a 5 year old both girls.Everybody had a lot of fun playing this, both adults and children.The product seems well made.It was fun to play 2 v 2.I had the feeling that it is a solid well made game.However, I would like to point out the following problems I had with the product:

There are a number of dead spots, and you need to give the ball a slight push.

There is no hole to launch the ball you just need to put it in the middle of the playing area.

When I rotate my offensive row so that I want the ball to pass underneath them, gravity causes the players to rotate back and block the ball.

It is very easy for the ball to get stuck under a player and prevent the player from hitting the ball forward.

The playing area did not seem level.When I tried to pass the ball between players in the same row, the ball would often tend to move forward or back.

We've had this toy for over a year, and have had people ranging from age 1-70 enjoy playing with it. Granted, the 1-year-old mostly just rolls the ball by hand, but it's intriguing to him. The table has a limited range of motion compared to a full-sized foosball table (tiny hand-grips for an adult), but it's part of the charm. I think it helps level the playing field a bit when adults play with kids on this since it's hard to get much speed going. It's small enough to stow under the couch for a quick game, and has held up well with some agressive play amongst the preschool set in our house.
