Trouble Board Game

Trouble Board GameI've been playing Trouble since I was a kid and it's still fun to play with my brothers and my niece. You push down on the middle part of thegame with the dice in it and the dice will 'pop' and give you a number, telling you how many spaces to move. The first person to get their fourpieces around the board and to their base, wins.If you land on a spacewhere one of your opponent's pieces are already at, they will have to startall over with that piece. For that reason, some kids might get mad if theyhave to start over, but that's the only thing that I see that anyonewouldn't like about Trouble.

Playing Trouble can teach kids some countingskills and maybe even some sportsmanship after you teach them not to getmad because they're not winning everytime.Trouble is a lot of fun and Irecommend anybody to get it.

I think even young children will enjoy this game.My daughter was under 4 when we started, but she loves the counting aspect of the game. It's great for number recognition skills because you make them say the number on the die outloud as they "roll."The only rule I don't like is that you need a "6" to start.Often that makes the beginning a bit slow if no one gets a 6.Once things get going, it's a lot of fun and easy to play. The thing in the middle is harder to push than it looks, so for very young children, they may not be strong enough to push it.3-4 year olds should have no problem though and it makes a satisfying pop.A fun and easy game -avoid if your child still puts small plastic pieces in his mouth though.

"I sat hunkered over the board. Five years old, and a "Trouble" champion. My brother stared me down. At eight years old, he knew how to intimidate. My glass of chocolate milk quivered in my nervous hands..." --me... circa 1971 or 1972

The sheer delight of a simple game will be satisfying as you see your children pop on the plastic bubble to 'toss the dice.' And you'll smile as you know those dice won't be easily lost. Milton Bradley were smart to use such a creative device without losing an ounce of fun.

Easy to learn, keeps a child's attention, and just plain good 'ol fun.

My brother usually beat me. But I went at the game as intensely as Michael Jordan plays basketball.

I fully recommend "Trouble."

I'm a 27 year old mother of 3.I remember loving this game when I was a kid. I was so dissapointed when I opened this game. I couldn't believe how cheesey it is.You can barely 'POP' the dice. And when my kids POP the bubble all the game pieces fly around. Plus the bottom of the game has a pop in piece of cardboard.Shouldn't the bottom be covered with hard plastic??

I also wish there was something to hold all the pieces because my kids (like many others) abuse the box and all of the pieces fall out and get lost.

****Can't the board game makers start making harder cases or Tins so we all don't have a stack of smashed boxes and missing pieces.

The game itself is fun...but I ended up throwing it away because pieces got lost way to fast.

I loved this game when I was younger and ordered it for my children. But... this game is so cheaply made now! A thin cardboard bottom has the graphics (comes seperated not integrated) and rips VERY easily. The popper is of a thin bent metal tension design that doesn't pop reliably. Very frustrating! We ended up buying a vintage game on [auction site] and love it!

I gave two of these to our grandson for the night tables in his new "big-boy bedroom." HE LOVES THEM! They're soft and pliable, making them durable and very hard to break...which is perfect for a little boy's room. They're actually larger than the photograph appears, and they give-off a good amount of light, too, but not too much. We would buy these again... VERY CUTE! :-)

WB Looney Tunes Kid's Inflatable Table & Chair Set - Tweety

WB Looney Tunes Kid's Inflatable Table & Chair Set - TweetyI bought these for my boy/girl twins' 1st birthday. I wanted them to have their own little chairs but didn't want to spend a ton of money like the nicer regular chairs cost. I'm so glad I bought these, they love them. We've had them a year now and the pink chair just now deflated. I definitely got my money's worth, my daughter put a small hole in it recently so it has a slow leak, her fault not the chairs. The blue is still going strong. I might actually buy another set to replace hers.

We have used these chairs indoors and take them outside in the summer (on grass & concrete) and honestly they just love them. They can pick them up and drag them where ever they want, they'll sit together and eat their snacks in them, they're great. They did have a little trouble getting in them when I first bought them they would slide & I'd have to hold the chair sturdy so they could sit down, but hey they were only ONE at the time. I ended up deflating the seats just a bit so it was easier to get in & it worked, now they are fully inflated and have no trouble. The top blows up separately from the bottom, so that is nice. The table is sturdier than you would think for a blow up table, it does have a hard top. The chairs are also a good size, they are 2 now and could easily use them through 4 or 5 I imagine.

I wish they came in other characters, my kids don't know Tweety (they don't care either) BUT if they came in Mickey or Elmo (whom they love) that would be FANTASTIC!

Definitely recommend these chairs & this set, WELL worth the money.

Inflatable and colorful.Requires some adjusting to get the seats just right so child does not fall forward. My grandson loved the colors and loves having his own little table.Good deal for the price.

Magic: the Gathering - Epic Experiment (159) - Return to Ravnica

Magic: the Gathering - Epic Experiment - Return to RavnicaIt's like an extreme version of Cascade. When you flip two Temporal Mastery and just keep on playing turn after turn, it's a ton of fun.

Mechanic needs a bit of deck construction based around it otherwise it falls flat. But useful for putting a fun bit of randomness into your game that isn't the regular coin flip red all-or-nothing theme.

Can go from epic experiment to epic fail, or anything in between.

Order of The Stick Adventure Game: The Dungeon of Durokan Deluxe Edition

Order of The Stick Adventure Game: The Dungeon of Durokan Deluxe EditionGreat game, guaranteed for hours of fun (added value if you know the comic). When you read the advice to play the game on a large surface head this advice! the game will take up a lot more space then you initially might think

I love the Order of the Stick, the strip. Even a bad idea has its moments in the strip, because there is so much going on and the producer is a clever and funny guy who knows D&D and has thought long and hard about it for a long time. You haven't met "pithy" until you've seen a storyline from this strip.

I dislike this game, though I don't want to. I've tried it several times and it suffers from the fact that the gameplay simply cannot sustain the point or the joke for the length of time the game takes to play.

The designer has spoken on the subject, and seemed to think that the board game should take about the same time as a session of D&D. That design goal was achieved, but it was a mistake to begin with in my opinion.

The joke milieu is fun, but wears thin after a couple of hours. By the third hour most people I've played with are beginning to suggest a game of something else, and finishing much after that is really an exercise in mental stamina in my experience.

The mechanics are card driven and quite innovative in their way: The board is built anew each time from cards that represent rooms and levels in the eponymous dungeon. Players play the characters from the Order of the Stick, represented by card "standees" familiar from the strip, and vie with each other to get the most loot. Loot that a given character "drools over" is worth more to that character than other loot. Loot is represented by cards, and is won by thrashing monsters. The references to the strip are many and the humor content is through the roof.

Monsters are cards played by the other players (and perhaps the phasing player him/her self too), forming a stack in which monsters form alliances to gang up on the phasing player. Monsters in other rooms on the same level may also contribute.

This is where it gets overly complex in my opinion, and constant arguments over what monster is "up" and who can help it were a feature of early games. Also, it isn't hard to end up with piles of monsters that cannot be beaten or driven off or gotten off the board. This is a depressing and unfun feature of the game. If I want to play a game I can't win I'll play Arkham Horror. The mechanism is somewhat like that of Munchkin, except that a munhkin monster that is unbeatable GOES AWAY at the end of the turn. OOTS:DoD Monsters hang around forever.

The cards are sturdy enough, for cards, but there are so many you'll need a component check after a game if the box got dropped. The box can, at least, hold all the components with ease (something that is becoming rare with boxed games once they are unpacked the first time).

The deluxe version of the game has pieces that "shorten" the game. I bought an expansion pack that contained those parts as I was an early adopter. I was very dismayed to read the instructions that came with that expansion.

So here is my method for shortening a game of OOTS:DoD to a reasonable time: Limit the number of floors to three plus the special level. If someone hasn't found a stairwell by the last card in a level, it is in that last room. Only allow gang-ups in the same room (controversial, this, but it does stop the stupid and keep things manageable).

Your mileage my vary of course. People have been claiming on the internet that they enjoyed six hour games of OOTS:DoD. I've never had a game that didn't end after three hours where everyone wasn't voicing the opinion that enough of a good thing was enough.

This is not a game I can get players for in my local friendly game store, and they are board game crazy.

My advice would be to find someone, me maybe (I can be found gaming at a store in Plainview NY most weekends), and play before you pay. I'll wheel it out for anyone willing to give it a go and am always on the lookout for that new player who will show me the point I've missed or the rule I've misinterpreted which will make all I've said above total hogwash.

I love the game, and the shortening rules provide excellent options to speed up and time limit a game that before took way to long.My one disappointment is the really cheap/thin plastic inside the box.The box itself was packaged perfectly by amazon with no marks on it, but inside the plastic separators were all torn up.I will have to find a different container to keep my cards separated in.

I wanted to do a review for this game, because my opinion differs quite a bit on this game from the person below me. True, I began playing this game not really expecting it to be that great after awhile. In fact, it felt like there were certain things that felt suspiciously similar to games like Munchkin.

After giving it a real go, however, I had a very enjoyable time, and before I knew it, 3 hours had gone by. This is one of those games that is hard to recommend to certain people. I'm a pretty hardcore gamer, and I had fun with this, but I don't think it's for everybody. If you like RPG parodies like Munchkin, this will probably be up your alley. The only major difference is that you play as a specific character who gets specific items each game. It isn't as random.

But while this game is meant to be light-hearted and fun, it can sometimes be very punishing in difficulty. Yes, sometimes it's the luck of the draw (most results will be based on a 1-12 die roll), but you can also get help from your friends on defeating monsters. That is, if they don't stab you in the back while they're at it.

Sure, this game may never be nominated for any game of the year awards, but I feel it does a good job of trying to accomplish what it sets out to do. It's just that there may be games more suited for people who want to play games of this genre. The one thing I will say that I loved about this game though is that it gave me enough freedom to choose from fighting monsters, stealing items from other players, exploring the dungeon, searching for loot, teaming up against other players, and laughing at all the silliness that was going on. So if you don't take your games too seriously, and want something a little more light-hearted, I would recommend picking this one up. Below I'll list some pros and cons I found from playing this:

Pros:

+ Light-hearted fun for gamers of all experience levels.

+ Lots of ridiculous humor specific to each character. They all feel fully fleshed-out.

+ The game is different every time you play.

+ Expansion pack adds some nice cards, including a variation that makes the game much shorter.

+ There is really no way for anyone to "die" or "lose." Everyone is in the game the entire time without any significant penalties if you DO lose all your HP.

+ "Backstabbing" other players never feels like anyone is out to get you. That is, unless you do it to others too much...

+ One of the few games that is appealing to the non-gamer girlfriend crowd.

Cons:

A lot is left up to chance.

Can amount to a pretty long game, even with just two players.

Appeals to a certain niche of gamers. Not every hardcore or casual gamer will probably enjoy this.

Certain rules can be a little difficult to grasp at first

Some monsters are far too common. The idea is that monsters of the same type give each other bonuses, but I would have preferred more variety.

The Order of the Stick comic is quite funny, if you have the right background with RPGs so you can catch all the inside jokes. This "board game" variation also has a lot of humor to it. I say board game in quotes because you build the dungeon room by room by laying cards down on the table. The graphic design is excellent.

You play one of the characters from the comic, such as Durkon the Dwarven Cleric or Haley the Rogue Archer. Each Player has a set of Schtick cards that represent his or her special abilities. You start out with three of these cards and can add more in play. Acquiring duplicates of these cards gives you Boosts to their listed abilities.

You move from room to room in the dungeon, trying to make your way down to Xykon's lair for the final confrontation with the big bad, battling monsters along the way. Upon entering a new room, you are given one or more monsters to fight by the other players. These monsters have funny illustrations and dialogue taken from the comic, and may have special abilities of their own. You roll a twelve-sided die, add up all relevant modifiers, and try to defeat the monster's attack or defense values, depending on the circumstances. When you defeat them, you get Loot cards. Defeat enough monsters and you can trade them in for more Schticks. When battling monsters, you can also trade the Loot cards you have accumulated to other Players, provided the Loot card has one or more symbols that match the character whose aid you are seeking. This aid boosts your attacks and is often the only way to defeat certain monsters.

There are a lot of other elements to the game, which I don't have the time or patience to list here, except for one of the deal-breakers for me: Players are actively encouraged by the winning conditions and the Schticks in the game to backstab each other. Yet you have to cooperate with each other to have a chance of winning. The result is a game with a really schizophrenic feel. Are you competing or cooperating? Aiding or sabotaging? Combine this with the need to account for all the niggly little ability modifiers that crop up on various cards and which may or may not stack with other monster modifiers and room modifiers and adjustments caused by special Screw This cards that you or OTHER Players may throw into your battles to help or hinder you, and the game play is SLOW.

Moreover, the sheer randomness of the monsters you will face and WHEN you will face them is aggravating. It's entirely possible to be facing extremely tough enemies on the first level that you have no real chance of beating, depending upon how cruel the other Players are. There's no strategy that will help you with this. Certain Player characters are simply completely helpless when encountering certain types of monsters that negate all of their significant Schticks. In addition, the Players themselves are woefully unbalanced. Haley is clearly the most powerful, with Roy probably coming in second, while Belkar and Vaarsuvius are one-trick ponies at a consistent disadvantage.

This leads to a game in which it is difficult to plan, that requires you to add up a lot of different modifiers and keep track of special abilities even though dumb luck is often going to screw you or pull you through, and where defeating the most monsters is no real guarantee of victory in the end if you get back stabbed.

We've played the game half a dozen times, because I want to like it, but my experience has been that it routinely brings out the worst in people, encouraging arguments over the rules, petty bickering over things like "why didn't you heal or aid me last turn?" and backstabbing that can bring progress to a crawl just when momentum was being built. In other words, it encapsulates the things I like least about role playing games and compresses them into a brightly colored, visually attractive package. If it wasn't for the humor on the cards I would give this game a "1" for actual play experience. It's funny, but I don't see the point in spending four to five hours of often dull play punctuated by arguments and resolving rules disputes just so that someone can cherry-pick a victory.

Miniature Trebuchet Kit - Wooden Desktop Warfare Trebuchet

Miniature Trebuchet Kit - Wooden Desktop Warfare TrebuchetMy son, son-in-law, and grandson love the tv show punkin chunkin, so Uncle bought this for his 9 year old nephew for Christmas. It went together easily but with enough challenge to keep his interest. It works great and has been the most played with gift he received. It hasn't been a week yet but has survived lots of play and handling so seems sturdy enough to last and to be repaired when needed. The adults can't keep their hands off of it either. Great "toy", great gift.

The pieces are simple butt joints assembled with glue. It's OK, but not the strongest joint. The 45 degree supports are almost impossible to clamp in place while the glue is drying. We finally cobbled something together with rubber bands to hold them in place while the glue dried. So far it seems to be holding up.The cardboard weight is OK, but would be hard to add or remove pennies to compare shot distances. The trigger is adequate, but is a bit hard to set and is very touchy. We've seen some better designs out there. We've started working on a bigger one from plans on the internet, so this is a good starter kit to see how the mechanism works.

Sand and Water Play Set

Sand and Water Play SetI bought this toy at Target for $10 last Spring. My kids are now 6 1/2 and 5 1/2. This toy has stayed out in all weather and been exposed to direct sun for extended hot periods. My kids and their friends all gravitate to this toy. I fill mine with both sand and water. Because of it's size it's incredibly easy to clean-just dump, spray off, and start new! There is lots of fun activities to explore: crane, boats, dry areas, blockades, and paddle wheels which control water flow direction and speed. My kids play with this on the grass, the driveway, or sometimes on a small table. It has been such a great hit that this Spring I bought the freestanding Step 2 Sand and Water table with the umbrella and secure lid. What a fabulous activity toy!!! Bring it into the garage or basement during foul weather and fill with dry pasta, beans, rice, or even pea gravel! As far as the assembly-big deal! What a bunch of winers. Look at the price for heavens sake! All the pieces break off the plastic grid and simply snap together. I didn't think it was laborsome at all, and I didn't have any sharp tag edges.

Cute toy...but be prepared to spend up to 45 minutes to put it all together. There are tons of little pieces to assemble, but it is simple and easy to do...with clear instructions.

It is a great little water toy, well worth the $9.99 I spent.

Ping Pong Balls

Ping Pong BallsThey do bounce but not at all like ping pong balls. I ordered them for my cats and now have ordered real ping pong balls because they like the lighter weight and higher bounce of real ones. you would not want any kid who puts things in their mouths to have these balls. They are a choking hazard for them and for dogs too. My cats have been playing with these especially the young cat and i don't know what else they would ever be good for.

I bought these as they seemed like a bargain, however, buyer beware! These are simply hard plastic balls with absolutely zero bounce. They are smaller than a regular Ping Pong ball, yet about twice as heavy. They are useless for Ping Pong, but would work well for anybody who needs hard plastic balls that do not bounce... don't know why anyone would want that, but if you are looking for regulation PING PONG BALLS, keep looking, these are not them.

Sam Ayers Pulp Investigator Chronoscope Series Miniatures

Sam Ayers Pulp Investigator Chronoscope Series MiniaturesSam Ayers Pulp Investigator easily fits into any modern setting RPG or horror themed board game you may be playing. Excellent for Arkham Horror or Last Night on Earth as a hero or investigator. Suitable for use as a variant hero or investigator as well. The flash light seems redundant since he has a more rudimentary torch in his left hand (cant change the left hand). Gund Peek A Boo Bear-Animated With Voice

Gund Peek A Boo Bear-Animated With VoiceThis Gund "Peek A Boo Bear" is fabulous! It plays peek-a-boo by pulling the blanket up over its face and down again, while saying the cutest things like, "Pick A Boo, Baby" "Hmmmmm! Where did you go"? "Again, again; Let's play again!" And the bear has the cutest realistic giggle. I am waiting to give it to my grand-daughter when she gets a little older. She just turned two and there are mechanical parts (inside the bear). I think the recommended age for this bear is 3yrs. There are no small removeable parts that a baby could choke on but a younger child might try to bend the arms or pull on the "peek a boo" blanket, which could break the toy.

Super Scrabble Deluxe Edition

Super Scrabble Deluxe EditionMy wife and I play scrabble regularly. We started using Super Scrabble instead of the standard game a couple of years ago and reallly love it.The only problem was that since the game is twice the size of the original scrabble, it took us more than one sitting to finish a game. The standard flat board was easily bumped and often our games were ruined by someone bumping the board.I even contacted the Scrabble people to see if I could get a deluxe board (with the rails) 2 years ago and was told that it was not being made...

and NOW here it is.no more ruined games from someone bumping the board!

We love the Deluxe game.

Only (minor) problem is the seam where the board folds does not always lie flat so the letters in that column can move around.

all in all, a wonderful addition to the scrabble game.

If you like scrabble you will LOVE Super Scrabble.More tiles and larger game board allows you to spell bigger words for bigger points! Please note however that the game takes twice as long because of the 200 letter tiles as opposed to the 100.The deluxe edition features a rotating board but it is not on a turntable. It is set with ball bearings allowing it to turn on a stable hard surface.Just don't set on anything you don't want to have scratched. Highly recommend.

I gave this to my mother as a gift. After she took it on a trip to my sister's, they recommended I return it.The board folds in half, unlike the Deluxe Edition of the regular Scrabble game. The board is flimsy and didn't lay flat along the fold line, so the letters wouldn't lie flat.I was disappointed, to say the least. We love playing Scrabble, so my gripe is only about the board quality.

I played this game while visiting my Aunt and Uncle in FL and we had so muchfun that I had to buy it when I got back to NY. The only problem I had was that the fold on the board doesn't allow the letters there to lay flat.

This Super Scrabble with its extra letters (total 200) add a lot of extra fun to this game. The base which is a turntable is a little disappointing and I usually use another turntable under it.Otherwise it is quite entertaining and more exciting than scrabble with the usual number of letters.

Plan Toys Plancity Track Expansion Pack

Plan Toys Plancity Track Expansion PackThere is not much to say as this is just an set of extra train track. Our son has a full train set by Plan Toys and it is great fun.Their products are durable, fun, and environmentally friendly. This track will help allow my son to make larger, more complex designs.I would suggest this product to anyone looking to add track to their wooden train set.

Great Addition to the original set I purchased!!!This allows my grandsons mind to make new designs with the track.

I already have the Gordon Express train set, which came with Gordon and two coaches. But, as you often see on the TV show, he is always pulling at least 3 and sometimes 4 of these coaches.Afterall, he is the strongest and fastest engine, so he has to look the part. Our HO train looks great pulling this additional coach along. It is very sturdy construction, and negotiates tight 18" radius curves no problem.WELL worth the money!

These coaches fit right on the track and connect just by being pushed together. They stay on the track at high speed. They are highly detailed and look just as good, if not better than those on the show. They are well made, sturdy and make a great edition to anyone's Bachmann collection.

Creative Converting Sweet at One Girls Plastic Banquet Table Cover

Creative Converting Sweet at One Girls Plastic Banquet Table CoverIf you're doing the Sweet Safari theme for your baby's birthday you should definitely order this table cloth. A solid pink table cloth comes if you order the pack but this one is a must. The size is very large/long and would fit any table size.

For my little girl's first birthday I had really only one rule as far as decorations go. NO LICENSED CHARACTERS! There is plenty of time for that later, but as an adult I'm not into paying companies to advertise for them, and I don't want my daughter to get sucked into that lifestyle either. (Easier said than done, I know)But she doesn't know about Fairies or Disney Princesses yet, and I want to keep it way for a while. Even among the unlicensed decorations there was an abundance of princess themed items. So when I found the Safari (even though it does have pink) I ordered every product I could find in that theme. I mean EVERY PRODUCT. This review is for the table covers and they are cute and a decent size , but I will probably just use the same review for all of the products until the last sentence.
