Miniature Trebuchet Kit - Wooden Desktop Warfare Trebuchet

My son, son-in-law, and grandson love the tv show punkin chunkin, so Uncle bought this for his 9 year old nephew for Christmas. It went together easily but with enough challenge to keep his interest. It works great and has been the most played with gift he received. It hasn't been a week yet but has survived lots of play and handling so seems sturdy enough to last and to be repaired when needed. The adults can't keep their hands off of it either. Great "toy", great gift.

The pieces are simple butt joints assembled with glue.It's OK, but not the strongest joint.The 45 degree supports are almost impossible to clamp in place while the glue is drying.We finally cobbled something together with rubber bands to hold them in place while the glue dried.So far it seems to be holding up.The cardboard weight is OK, but would be hard to add or remove pennies to compare shot distances.The trigger is adequate, but is a bit hard to set and is very touchy.We've seen some better designs out there.We've started working on a bigger one from plans on the internet, so this is a good starter kit to see how the mechanism works.

I have waged many a war with this weapon. Attacking coworkers across the office with a small trebuchet is priceless. It's also a good conversation piece. Easy to assemble and very effective. My only issue is that the counterweight is a thin card paper. My has now ripped and needs repair.

This was a birthday gift that now sits on my child's desk where it's used to send paper balls away. I will be getting some of the other items later on from the maker.
