Thomas & Friends Take N Play Talking Percy Train Engine

Thomas & Friends Take N Play Talking Percy Train EngineDefinitely recommend investing in the talking line of Take-n-Play for your little one!Percy says, "(Toot Toot) Hello, I'm Percy!", "I'm the #6 green engine!", "(Toot Toot)", "It's my job to deliver the mail!", "(Toot)", and "I am a really useful engine!"Percy is one of the 8 members of the "Steam Team" (including Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Toby & Emily), and is Thomas' best friend!Accident-prone Percy is a NWR (North Western Railway) green saddletank engine with red lining and a yellow number "6" on his bunker sides, and 4 matching green wheels.Talking Percy first appeared on the original (Spring 2010) Take-n-Play Collector Checklist... Fisher-Price's October 2012 MSRP is $10 (well worth the $8.99 I paid for my grandson's!)There are 19 items in the line as of August 2012, and my grandson really enjoys lining up all of his "talkies", dimming the lights, and enjoying the special effects as his engines chug around!(11/21/12 update:Someone recently commented to me that the talking engines they'd purchased didn't make the chugging sounds anymore in addition to talking.Apparently, Fisher-Price discontinued the chugging sounds with the three latest trains Salty, Diesel 10 & Charlie as well as new productions of the older talking trains.I assume this was done as a cost cutting measure and this is truly a shame, since not only did the chugging sound add to their charm, but F-P also raised the MSRPs... a double whammie!)

If you're interested in starting a "talkies" collection of your own, they are (in order of introduction):Thomas, Percy, James, Gordon, Spencer, Rosie, Henry, Edward, Diesel, Toby, Sir Topham Hatt's Musical Caboose, Emily, Flynn, Troublesome Trucks (only 1 talks), Percy at the Dieselworks, Thomas & Percy Hard at Work (a Kmart exclusive), Salty, Diesel 10, and new for 2012! Charlie.

A little of our own "Thomas" history... As first time grandparents, my husband and I wanted to start some type of collection for our grandson that he could possibly pass along to his own kids one day.Our grandson was 2 1/2 at the time, and had been talking a lot about a certain train named Thomas (a little fella whom now seems hard to believe! we'd never heard of.)After doing some research, it seemed the Take-n-Play line might be the perfect investment to engage and encourage his active imagination, as well as provide a fun way for us to interact with him. What a rewarding decision... we've had SO much fun together with this quality line of trains, vehicles and playsets! He's now 4, and a large portion of our basement has become a wonderful Sodor land of make believe that we all enjoy visiting and continues to hold his interest, which is quite a feat given the tendency at that age to move in and out of toy phases so quickly!

I bought this for my 5 year old daughter who loves thomas and friends for christmas & she was super excited when she got it .she has the tidmouth sheds just with thomas and needed a friend for thomas. Very happy with the toy!

This is a very durable, wonderful colored, attractive little toy. For Thomas fans, this is a must. It chuffs great. The whistle and the light will amaze the little train enthusiasts. However, Percy does not talk about the mail anymore; now he talks lines from the movie, Day of the Diesels. Maybe the Percy that talks about mail will be a collector's item in the future.

The kid wanted a talking Percy train, and he got one.But the train we received from this shipper is not as pictured in the product listing. It's a "special" talking Diesel Works Percy train. So it looks the same as the regular talking Percy, but says rather boring things about the Diesel Works (not the usual "bust my buffers" etc. that these talking trains do).I would have preferred the train shown in the picture which is the regular talking Percy. It will now be a gift for another boy who won't care that it's not the regular Percy, but I would have probably returned/exchanged it if it was for my somewhat pickier son.

I searched for days for this toy.My 17 month old son has recently developed a love of Thomas and his favorite character is Percy".He had received the Take N Play talking "James" for Christmas and really liked playing with it, so I decided to try and find a "Percy".He has had the toy for three days now and hardly ever puts it down.We have actually had to tell him that "Percy" is tired and has to go to sleep in order to get him to go to bed at night and naptime! This train has bumped, crashed, gone down the racetrack, substituted as a drumstick, and otherwise been thoroughly played with by an energetic little boy for the past three days and looks great! The only complaint I have is that it was very hard to find and when I did it cost $8.00 more than the other trains I purchased at the same time (and was the smallest of them all).Great toy!
