Train was bought to go around Christmas tree, very happy with train size and looks. Would buy again. It reccomends 3-5 drops of fluid for the creation of smoke, the smoke last less than 1-2 minutes. Problems with line from speed control to track, Bachmann sent replacement in time for Christmas. They need to beef up line from speed control to track and the connecter to the track. Buy lubricant when you buy train.

This train is big and colorful. It is based on the Bachmann Big Hauler series of trains, whose slogan used to be "Any bigger and you'd have to buy a ticket." In spite of the Christmas lettering, the locomotive pulling this train is an accurate model of a Baldwin locomotive that ran on many American railroads between 70 and 140 years ago.

The Bachmann company provides excellent service and a wide range of accessories. This train is also made to run outside if you want, but the track isn't.

We bought this train as an upgrade for around the tree.Wire connector to track to power train defective.After 17 phone calls, two separate faxing of recent receipt, once sending the same defective part, and getting interrogated as if I was guilty of something, we finally received the correct 50 cent piece a few days before Christmas.He said "we have to interrogate you like that" and he did it on two separate days.Took four weeks of negativism from Billy and Cynthia to finally get train going only to find that it has trouble staying on the track.This is the first time I have ever reviewed a product despite years of buying items online.

This is great for the Christmas tree.Quality is good, very sturdy.I run it around the Christmas tree in the Winter, and it never gets stuck on pine Needles (it doesn't pick them up at all).Easy to set up, and able to withstand my two year old poking it in excitement, or driving it stop/go/stop style.I like the looks.Would recommend to anybody looking for a big train to use at Christmas time.Size is perfect.

It could use a couple of extra straight track pieces, but you can buy them on Amazon for a minimal price.

This train is great, works great and the track is easy to work with and the set is large enough for old eyes to see. Would have been great if it had a whistle...but it looks neat coming out from under the tree.
