I'm sure little kids enjoy the placemat, but if you actually want them to be educated (presumably why you are purchasing this), then you may not like the fact that Neptune and Uranus are on the same orbit, that Mars looks like it's undergoing armageddon, that Uranus looks like a cube, and the asteroid belt is in the wrong place, not to mention that absolutely nothing is even close to scale. The good news is that the correct distances between planets is appropriately labeled even if it is not displayed correctly. And it's in vibrant colors! Honestly, apart from the erroneous conception of the solar system, what kids don't want a really cool-looking space placemat?

This placemat is great for those interested in space.It is heavily laminated to clean up easily.It is holding up well to multiple washings.I chose this placemat because, not only was it colorful, but educational too.My 7 year old granddaughter has learned a lot from the placemat already.There are many facts on the reverse side also.The entire placemat is laminated, so washing it off after meals does not diminish the colorful pictures.
Fisher-Price Dora the Explorer: Dress-Up Adventure Dora
My daughter got this doll for Christmas last year, and it's easily her favorite. She adores all things Dora, but this toy is definitely the most played with of all her toys.I think the outfits are a little pricey, but if you shop around and wait for sales like the day after Thanksgiving, you can find them at a reasonable cost. We bought them all in one shot last year, and have been doling them out for special occasions.
I like the fact the basic doll comes with a puppy, as well as Backpack and a storybook. Each outfit has a separate theme (with coordinating book) and they're constantly adding new outfits to her line, so you can pick and choose which you prefer.
My only complaints is getting the shoes and hats to stay on, otherwise my daughter has no problems dressing the doll and getting Dora ready for her adventures.
Overall we're very pleased with this toy purchase and will probably have it for years to come.

I bought this in october for natalie's birthday. She is so thrilled with it! She takes it along EVERYWHERE. The doll is fully poseable and comes with a shirt, pants, shoes and a small book thats sorta hardback(better for younger children). dora looks very pretty. her hair is rooted and her eyes are big and pretty. she also comes with a backpack and map! her backpack can be taken off and things can also be stored in it(like her shoes and signature bracelet). and every child knows that it isnt dora unless there is backpack and map! i think she's a tall 15' or 18' tall(she's pretty tall)! you can also buy add'l clothes for her to wear and they all come with books too! Both my 3-year old daughter and my 5-year old son (to his father's chagrin) love playing with and endlessly dressing Dora. Her outfits are darling and my children enjoy mixing and matching (or not-so-matching in some cases) the clothes, too. We are looking forward to adding new outfits as well as the armoire and bed Dora needs a place to sleep!
Dora is well made and sturdy, and her clothing has even been through the wash and no harm done.
And I have to admit ... I've been known to dress Dora a time or two myself. We have the same problem with the shoes not staying on well, but it doesn't seem to bother my little ones at all.

My two year old received this toy for her birthday, and it's been a favorite ever since.This is a sturdy, well-made doll and I forsee it lasting many years, even with constant play.I agree that one of the only big problems is that the shoes do not stay on.However, the beach outfit does have shoes with elastic that seem to stay on fairly well--except that my daughter cannot put them on her doll by herself.The hats don't stay on either, which can be frustrating.Otherwise, it's easy to dress/undress, and lots of fun for my child.Another word of warning:if your child is like mine, and enjoys taking dolls in the tub or pool...beware that Dora's hair takes DAYS to fully dry.And after that first adventure in the pool, the hair hasn't been the same since!It's nothing major, and my two year old couldn't care less, but an older child may notice the difference.It's also a bit tricky to get all the water out of the body cavity.Just so you know!

The upside is that is ships well packaged and delivers good value for the money (considering that finding a good carrom board in the US is quite challenging). I bought it to play with my kid so the quality was not super important to me.We do have good times!The downside is that for anyone who has played on a good board, this board will feel cheap and flimsy. The surface is not as smooth as it could be (you will still get 2 rebounds).The bumpers are think and the rebounds feel uncontrolled.The striker that comes with it is below par but the coins are decent.
In short, you get what you are paying for.

This train is big and colorful. It is based on the Bachmann Big Hauler series of trains, whose slogan used to be "Any bigger and you'd have to buy a ticket." In spite of the Christmas lettering, the locomotive pulling this train is an accurate model of a Baldwin locomotive that ran on many American railroads between 70 and 140 years ago.
The Bachmann company provides excellent service and a wide range of accessories. This train is also made to run outside if you want, but the track isn't.

This is great for the Christmas tree.Quality is good, very sturdy.I run it around the Christmas tree in the Winter, and it never gets stuck on pine Needles (it doesn't pick them up at all).Easy to set up, and able to withstand my two year old poking it in excitement, or driving it stop/go/stop style.I like the looks.Would recommend to anybody looking for a big train to use at Christmas time.Size is perfect.It could use a couple of extra straight track pieces, but you can buy them on Amazon for a minimal price.

The plastic housing is very strong-I think you could drop it on carpeted flooring and it would be fine, though I'm not going to test this theory. The sound effects rival that of the full-size pinball machines you find in arcades! The lights are in the five bumpers, and the flash on and off together when you hit any one of them.Important Note: These bumpers are NOT the mechanical kind you see on big machines; they are metal springs that register 10 points when touched, and they bounce the ball back if they're hit hard enough. They DO NOT force the ball back with mechanical action. But, I wouldn't expect that from an inexpensive toy.
I'm an adult, by the way. I bought this for myself, and I love it! It's a very cheap (depending on where you buy it) way to get a quick pinball fix!
Guesstures Game
This game is basically a twist on the traditional game of charades.Players take turns choosing four cards, each of which have two words onthem -an easier one and a tougher one (for less and more pointsrespectively).They then place those cards in a card holder that has awind up timer in it.When the timer starts the person has to do things toget their team to say the word on the card.When they do so, the playergrabs the card and pulls it out of the timer unit.If it takes too longfor the team to guess the word the card drops down into the timer unit andthose points are lost to the team. It's a gas to watch people grabbingfor falling cards and seeing their faces as they see the card slip out ofsight!
My family and I love to play this game.It works well forplayers of many ages (including children).The range of questions makesthis game workable for children from about age 8 or so on up.It alsoworks well as a party game for older folks.
Great stuff, great fun, butdoesn't really teach you all that much -oh well, not every game has to dothat!

This is one of those games that's great in a large group and only fun the first few times you play.
I give it a recommendation, because at the right time and place it's a perfect game, but do point out that it's not a classic any time any place game, and it's definately not one that two or three can play by themselves.

Guesstures is hilariously fun!My husband and I often invite new people from our church over for dinner, and this is a great ice-breaker game.It prevents those akward moments when no one has anything to say, and it opens up the lines of communications.It is also a great tool to learn about people it's fun to watch the guys try to come up with stuff for each card, and it has sparked some wild discussions in our home.I've never had a guest come back and say they had a terrible time playing "Guesstures" with us in fact, we've developed a reputation within our circle of friends for a fun night out because of this game.I would also recommend this for kids and teens our 9yo loves this game and asks to play it often.
Sassy Sensation Station Suction Toy
I bought this on impulse when I decided that my daughter needed a suction cup toy so that she didn't constantly try to squirm out of the bumbo tray as soon as she chucked her toys behind her back.I really wish I didn't.pros:
in theory, you can attach to a high chair or bumbo tray and your baby won't be able to knock or throw the toy away
the bright, contrasting colors attract and stimulate your baby
quality construction my daughter can slam it onto a table and it won't break or crack
cons:
in practice, toy detaches very easily from suction cup.Also, my daughter at 4 months was pretty strong and was able to tear the suction cup off of the bumbo tray (one of the most suction-cup friendly surfaces around very smooth).Ruins the entire point of a suction cup toy.She does enjoy chewing the suction cup, I guess maybe that's another pro?
this plays annoying music and tones that you ***cannot*** turn off (you can't even remove the batteries, it's buried somewhere in one of the components).I was originally hoping to use this in a pizzeria or other casual restaurant to help keep my daughter happy while sitting in one spot, but not with this music
there isn't even a volume control.It is SO LOUD.
We haven't had the heart to get rid of this toy, because my daughter does like it.However, we do hide it.We curse whenever we accidentally bump it and get it going feels like we just teleported to a circus.
A friend of ours gave us a suction cup toy for my son who just turned three months old.After attaching it to his high chair and seeing how excited he was to play with something while sitting up, I went to find some similar toys.I found this one at Target and figured I'd give it a try even though it said 6+ months on it.He LOVES it.It spins and plays sounds and music with every bat of the hand, it has really started to improve his ability to grasp objects as well.The suction cup works very well on both the high chair tray and the small tray that attaches to his swing.I'm looking forward to buying him several of these types of toys so we can rotate them and keep him entertained.

The music is activated by movement/vibrations, and there's no on/off button or any way to remove the battery. Sorry for yelling, but it is the most annoying toy ever made. You cannot turn off the sounds, and it is really loud, and it plays following every tiny movement it starts paying even if you so much as walk in the vicinity of the toy. When you give it to your baby, every movement makes it go, so it plays non-stop until you get it from him. There is no cause and effect learning, because the thing never stops. If you make a mistake of giving it to your child in the car or in stroller, be ready to listen to annoying two tunes and two sounds non-stop your entire trip.

Little Tikes Picnic N Playhouse
I just received the playhouse and set it up that afternoon.Be forewarned, like everyone else said, it can take a few hours to assemble.Generally speaking, assembly should have been easy -the instructions are clear enough, but man, those plastic pieces don't always play well with each other.There are a ton of screws, arm yourself with a drill or powered screwdriver (and maybe a backup battery).The slide and rock wall were an absolute nightmare to attach.I finally got the slide to attach after a lot of kicking, screaming and hitting with a rubber mallet.Ultimately, I think my tears lubricated the pieces to allow them to join.I'm going to try to tackle the climbing portion this weekend.It's just difficult to gain leverage because the unit itself is very light (it's plastic after all) and incredibly bulky.It's too early to say how durable this will be.I'm in Arizona and I imagine that when the summer hits, this thing will probably melt or warp, who knows!?For now though, it seems very sturdy and I'd have no problem letting my daughter abuse it.The toy phone is pretty cheap and lightweight, but she seemed to like it -the countdown has begun though to see how long before it's lost in the backyard.
I love the little lamp on the outside of the house and the table and chairs seem like they'll be great for her to enjoy with friends.
One final note, when you do assemble the house, remember that the wall with the slide portion attached DOES swivel open -you don't have to worry about getting trapped in the house during assembly -yes, I had a brain fart and wasn't paying enough attention to realize that for the 10 seconds I sat to catch my breath and plan an escape.It was late at night when I was finishing up after a long day at work, cut me some slack.
My overall rating is "good by not great". Playing in the house is definitely fun for him and his friends (ages 2 to 4). The house is lightweight but looks quite durable. So, it is a "good" purchase (also considering the price).
However, I must give several words of caution for those thinking of purchasing it.
1. My son's physical development is typical for a two-year-old boy. Yet, he is almost able to climb to the roof of the house or to lean over a red horizontal bar (which would be extremely dangerous). So, he has to be closely supervised while being there. This may not be what you expect from a toy for small children.
2. Many reviewers complained about a house assembly. I find instructions clear enough. However, the assembly did require two adult men, and physical force at some stages. Overall the assembly took couple of hours.
3. The house is somewhat dull inside (gray plastic walls without decoration). It could have easily been made more jolly by "Little Tikes".

I bought this playhouse on Toysrus Canadian website when they at a sale for $220. Really great value for a start!I've chosen this one because we plan to move house and once we settled we will get a proper wooden playhouse/tree house. At the mean time I wanted something not so big but with some actions (slide and climber) for my son with developmental delay, which will encourage his gross motor skill.
I have read a lot reviews re how hard it is to put together. Honestly it's not that hard at all! I'm not a handy person and I thought I just take my time, only used a screw driver and hammer. You don't need all the holes drilled, you can just screw pieces together. The tricky bit is the climber, took my husband a few punches and kicks to force it in to place. It is pretty easy in general.
The only downfall, which can be improved is the interior. A little bit boring, would be nice to have some more details and colours and definitely need some accessories to go with it, like a kitchen etc to make it more fun for imaginary play.

The unit overall is fun and entertaining for the kids.With that said, and like the hundreds of other reviews, assembly takes hours and the slide and climbing wall are extremely difficult to install.I am not the most handy of dads, but I have installed closet shelves and even replaced a garbage disposal...this by far is the most frustrating and pain in the ass unit I have dealt with.The instructions and the screws were not so much of a hassle, it was the SLIDE AND THE CLIMBING WALL that took the longest to install.It's amazing that the manufacturer doesn't have an easier way to install these 2 parts after all the complaining people do. You can't knock the parts into place, you have to push and shove and lift the pieces into place and even then, one side will pop out and you have to start all over again.Just make sure you have a towel ready to wipe off all the sweat you're about to expend on this mini-workout.

My 20 month old daughter loves it!The slide was a litttle challenging to get in place (stomp on it, it'll go in#, instructions were pretty good. It looks great and it's like having two things. I do not have the climb-up step installed properly but it works. My daughter loves to talk on the telephone #which I did not know was included).I would recommend this toy.
