I ordered a slant board back in October and still have not received (1/26/10) after e-mails saying it had been shipped, processed, etc. and several attempts on my part to contact the company.I give up and cannot say how the product rates, but would not recommend this company!
I can't speak to the customer service of this seller because we got our board from my daughter's OT. What I can tell you is that this slant board is FANTASTIC!
Developmentally it is a natural progression for kids to begin writing, painting, drawing, etc. upright like on an easel or chalkboard. Over time they progress to a flat surface and you don't even think twice about it. However, with a lot of kids who have developmental delays or other special needs this is not a natural progression. A slant board is a great way to improve their visual field which makes everything easier to see and in turn easier to do.
Our daughter has sensory processing issues which include fine motor challenges and vision convergence problems. Before we started using the slant board her ability to write and the quality of her work suffered tremendously. Homework time became an exercise in futility. We were frustrated, she was frustrated, it was just a lose-lose situation for all of us. Now, her school provides a slant board for her there and then we use one at home. The results are like night and day.
This board is especially great because being see-through it doesn't cause any distraction due to the color or texture differing from that of the table. It also avoids problems with depth-perception.
Anyway, it's a great board. Great for home, school and therapy. Get one!

Product was packaged well with styrofoam peanuts and styrofoam corners.Had a large jagged crack at the bottom.I contacted customer service through amazon on a Friday afternoon and on Monday morning was contacted by the seller and was told to keep and discard the slant board and they would issue a full refund.I was very pleased with their prompt customer service on this matter. This was the beginning of February.I have still yet to receive the refund to my credit card.I have again contacted customer service, directly through the company, about the refund.Obviously, I am not so happy that it has taken this long for a refund.I hope that this matter will be satisfactorily resolved soon.I will update my review as soon as the refund comes through.*UPDATE on 3/12**Email from company was answered with a "contact Amazon, refund has been processed."Amazon had originally said to contact the company since it was a third party seller.Anyway, after contacting Amazon and waiting for their accounting department to email me, all refunds have now been processed.****
The product itself would be very useful for an adult.We bought it for a 4 year old with fine motor issues, and I think it is a little too high off the table for his little arms to reach comfortably.This is because of the storage space underneath the board.So the bottom of the board is not flush with the table, it stands about 2 inches from the table top.
Also, at the bottom of the board, where the bottom and top pieces connect, (it looks like a pencil rest in the pictures) it is quite thick and uncomfortable for you forearm to rest on when writing.Again, probably not much of an issue for most adults, but my little one with sensory issues would never be able to tolerate this.
It is a good size, clip seems sturdy.Definitely not easily portable.There is a piece at the back that looks like it needs a lock or something to go through it, otherwise when you lift up the front to access the storage underneath, the entire device comes apart.Nothing provided to put through this hole to keep both top and bottom pieces securely together. They molded this to fit a small lock, I don't know why it didn't come with one.
So, bottom line.This product would not suite my child's needs, just based on size.I think the product, in general, is decent and will serve it's purpose for others.I also don't know why this product is labeled as a toy.Hard to give stars when asked how fun it is?How educational?It's not a toy but a therapeutic writing device.It's not supposed to be fun!lolSo I'm giving it a higher educational value, though not educational, for adults it will give a therapeutic value.This slant board is solid and sturdy. It would clearly withstand a lot of use and would not move even if the child or adult writing put a lot of pressure on it. We decided that it was too large and heavy to carry in a book bag and even heavy for a child to move about the room, so we have returned it. Sensory University provided an excellent customer service experience with the return. They responded promptly and with a personalized message aimed at helping us find the right accessories for carrying the board if we so desired. This was not the slant board for us, but I highly recommend the vendor.
