I'm sure little kids enjoy the placemat, but if you actually want them to be educated (presumably why you are purchasing this), then you may not like the fact that Neptune and Uranus are on the same orbit, that Mars looks like it's undergoing armageddon, that Uranus looks like a cube, and the asteroid belt is in the wrong place, not to mention that absolutely nothing is even close to scale. The good news is that the correct distances between planets is appropriately labeled even if it is not displayed correctly. And it's in vibrant colors! Honestly, apart from the erroneous conception of the solar system, what kids don't want a really cool-looking space placemat?

Our 2.5 years old son loves space and he loves this mat.He loves all the pictures but he will like it even more when he will start understand the concept.I am looking at the other mats they have,maps.

I chose this placemat because, not only was it colorful, but educational too.My 7 year old granddaughter has learned a lot from the placemat already.There are many facts on the reverse side also.The entire placemat is laminated, so washing it off after meals does not diminish the colorful pictures.
