Could there be a more fun take on an old classic game we all remember from childhood? I remember playing Operation when I was a small boy, over 40 years ago & always recall that it was a blast! My youngest nephew turned six last month & is a monster Sponge Bob fan! Immediately, the light bulb goes off in Uncle Mark's head!
This was THE birthday gift this year. The young lad was totally absorbed & could not have more excited. It's great that is this ultra high-tech world we live in, a toy based on a cherished favorite can still be simple, easy to play & barrells of fun. Highly recommended for kids of all ages!
Original Pocket Farkel Dice Game - Miniature Set - Colors May Vary
The name of the game is Farkel. You could easily confuse it with Farkle, which wouldn't be a major mistake. In fact, you could just as easily confuse it with 10000, 5000, Buzzball, Greed, Hot Dice, Oh Crap, Squelch, Wimp Out, Zilch, or Zonk. And you'd be perfectly entitled, insofar as they are each and all names for basically the same game a dice game, played with six dice, that is most definitely not Yahtzee.However, the subject of this review is not Farkel, but Pocket Farkel, as a matter of fact. (One of my very favorite game names, that I find myself obliged to repeat in rapid succession many times each time I open the game box).
Speaking of boxes, that's perhaps the key to what makes Pocket Farkel so fun-worthy. It's a handy little box, with the dice fitting snugly into their little foam niches, and the scoring rules (which are difficult to remember for the novice Farkeler) so clearly printed on the inside of the lid. And, as you would assume, it fits tidily into your pocket. Yes, all you really need are six dice. But the package here is the product. Its elegance, its accessibility all invite play, making the game into something unique.
The rules of Pocket Farkel are slightly different than those of your regular Farkle simpler, more scoring possibilities, more engaging. On your turn, you first roll all six dice. You then set aside any of dice that score (see the ever-so handy scoring combination chart on the box lid), and then you roll the rest of the dice. But you have to have to score to go on. If you don't score, you Farkel. And to Farkel is to lose all those conceptually hard-earned points you thought you were getting for that round. As in, "O, Farkel!" Which is another way of saying, no matter how disappointed you get, you just can't take it seriously.
And so the game goes, people scoring. People Farkeling. There's laughing. There's muttering. And then there's more laughing. For a family with kids who can keep score and not care too much about it it's something you might want to take with you everywhere.
The Pocket Farkel people make an astounding variety of Farkel sets there's Pirate Farkel and Froggy Farkel and Moose Farkel, Bear Farkel and Equine Farkel and Gator Farkel. There's Glow-in-the-Dark Farkel and Full Contact Farkel, Fat Free Lo Carb Farkel, and no matter what they're called, they're all Farkel. The dice might look different, but the game's the same. Enticing. Engaging. Major FUN.
I first played this game a couple of weeks ago when visiting my cousin in a nursing home.Six of us played and even with physical limitations, my cousin was able to play and have fun.I would recommend this game; taking a chance on one more roll is fun.

We play this with 6 or more and have a "Speed Farkel" version.We can stop and take our points then the remaining dice and current point value transfer to the next player.They can then choose to take a chance and build onto the previous score or start over with all the dice.It's amazing how "into it" everyone gets.We have so much fun!

I'm normally the type of guy who skips skip-bo. I don't yachtzee. I don't get into most of the "trendy" party games. I was a skeptic when a buddy of mine got me to play this game with him.I now own my own set, and ordered this mini set to carry everywhere. The game is that easy to learn, that fun to play. You can honestly learn this game in less than 3 minutes. It can be played with two people, or many. Trust me, this is the game to bring with you to cute boredom, meet people, whatever. It even works well in bars.
I cannot stress this enough. If you want something new to try, and your all Texas Hold'emed out, you need to own a copy of this. Since my buddy taught me, we now play with a group of eight. For hours.
So, in short, try this game, and you'll love it.

I am shocked at the reviews for this product.Nearly every review mentions the fact that the product is "over-priced for the number of blocks you get" or "you may want to skip this product and buy the deluxe duplo set".I totally agree!This was definitely the most disappointing toy under the tree this year.Our little guy was graduating from Mega-Blocks to Legos and we put this on his wish list.Based on the nearly "5-star" reviews we chose this "first set".But 30 blocks doesn't build much folks.That is nearly $1.00 per block if you exclude the bucket they come in.
We are VERY disappointed in the value of this toy.Before you believe the other "5-Star" reviews, read them carefully.Nearly every one of them states "few blocks for the money" and/or "looking to get more blocks".I am not sure why they gave it "5-stars" if they thought the toy was insufficient for the price or play value.
If you need an expensive bucket to hold Lego's, then this product may be just what you need.

A small complaint is that the lid is too hard for my son to open on his own, so we don't usually close it tight.Although, this could be a good feature if you needed to be sure the lid stayed on during travel or other circumstances.

If I'd paid $26 for this small set of Legos, as some reviewers have, I would feel so ripped off. But I paid less than half that, noted the amount of pieces in the box, decided to purchase two boxes at the same time rather than one. There's totally not enough pieces in one box (and there's barely enough in two). After all, I grew up with Legos and remember how lame they can be if you don't have enough pieces. Really, a truly fine Lego Duplo Set needs in excess of 200 pieces, in my opinion. However, I didn't want to just run out and spend 80-something dollars on a huge set only to find that my kids cared nothing for Legos.
Each box in 'My First Set' contains a pretty fun mix of pieces of 33 pieces; a window, a doorway, one of each color of the 'double' length (eight dot) pieces, two of each color of the 'single' length (four dot) pieces. Two pieces with eyes, a couple novel pieces (that can be used to make a bird), a red and blue flower, and one gray cat. Since my days of Legos where the pieces only came in red, blue, green and yellow, three new standard colors have been added; orange, light blue, and spring green. It makes a huge difference aesthetically.
These pieces, while nice, are just not enough. I emphasize the need to buy two sets, which is about what you'd pay for the 71-piece set anyway. Double the pieces, and you actually have enough to make small building facades or a really cool robot, or various small animals. My 4-year old is able to make more complex objects. The 2 year old just likes to put the pieces together and pull them apart in random order and say 'I building!' They both love the cat that comes with it too. Both children seem enthusiastic enough about these two small sets, and are entertained for about 30 minutes at a time before erupting into a huge fight over the pieces. We'll definitely be getting more down the road.
I think two of these sets, bought at a reasonable price, are a fine introduction to the world of Legos for a young child. Maybe somewhat less so for two small children :) 66 pieces is a reasonable amount to start with, but I'd shop around for a fair price it is out there. I would highly recommend this to other parents introducing Legos to their young toddlers and preschoolers.
By the way, this particular set of Legos was made in Hungary, Czech Republic, Germany, & Mexico. Of note is the fact that it was not made in China which I think is a big point in its favor.

We have several sets of these Duplos and they are still loved and played with by kids even when they get older.To be honest, they're wonderful to build huge towers with them, and the older kids also add the smaller legos for bridges, roads, etc.They're just great fun, will last a lifetime and the price here is great on them too.They're still loved in this house highly recommend!

We got this "My First Lego Duplo" set in December 2008 for our twins because our older son loved his starter box of Lego Duplos when he was the same age (about a year and a half old).In 2004, it cost about fyfteen bucks on sale (normally twenty) for a starter box/chest that contained 140 blocks. I have searched high and low, and that same plastic chest with 140 blocks is nowhere to be found.
Instead we got the current version of the starter Duplo box. The blocks themselves are great -the few of them that there are. This rectangular bucket, which is just slightly smaller than the earlier chest, contains just 33 blocks, which don't build very many things and nothing big.
That's a small fraction of the quantity for the same price.
Later I found that the closest thing to our old 140 block chest is the bulk set of 144 blocks without a storage chest for around f0rty bux via online or mail order. DUPLO Bulk Set
So although our children like the Duplos (even my older son still uses them more than four years later) and they never break or wear out, boo to Lego for its stinginess to kids.

The chair works well enough for what it is.My son has been using this chair for about two years.The wooden back started cracking right way, but never actually broke.The plastic cushion that it comes with fell apart after about a year.So the quality is not great, but for the price, it's hard to complain.I'll probably get another one when my daughter is old enough.

perfect chair for eating and doing homework at the dining room table. My 3 and 5 yr old use these chairs constantly and so far (5 months in) they've held up fine. I am from Germany and chairs such as these are very common there. I was very pleased to have found some at a reasonable price. It was easy to put the two chairs I bought together and they are sturdy enough. The cushion is a bit thin and covered in plastic that probably won't stand the test of time but the chair itself is great. Makes for much better posture for my little guys and less fidgeting at the table. Homework looks better now too :-)

This was purchased to entertain my 3 year old granddaughter under a small artificial Christmas Tree. My son just got this train for Christmas. He is 5. While it may be difficult for him to set up alone it is a great way for some father/grandfather bonding. The detail is impressive on the trains. The track snaps together easily and functions well on uneven surfaces (no problem navigating my wrinkled tree skirt) the engines movement is well controlled. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't find the smoke solution in my packaging but that doesn't take away from the product. I have to play with it some more but believe it may be 5 star material. Definitely a good buy.

We got this train set as part of our new family tradition. We began setting this up each and every Christmas. The product itself is heavy duty although some parts are fragile. I would be careful with kids around as they may be able to break some of the smaller parts. Other then that, this will be in our family for many years to come.

This is great game... but it is not unlike the original Pressman Wheel of Fortune games from around 1985.It has updated colors and a new wheel, and is very fun for anyone who like Wheel of Fortune!
About every few years come a new edition of this game show standard. It's been around so long now, that the rights have gone back to Pressman who put out a decent version in the mid-80s. This basically mirrors that version in every way. Beyond the updated graphics, it's the same game.
There is nothing here that you don't already have in another version. But, if you don't already have it, it's a fun group game.

I recently(re)started playing table tennis afterlong hiatus, and straightaway searched for butterfly rackets, since this is what we used when I was young. This particular one is well balanced for speed and spin, although it's neither the quickest nor the spinny-est, compared to some other higher quality (and price!) rackets I've used in the past. But as I said, it's well balanced, providing fairly high amount of speed, spin and control. Definitely glad it comes with the cover, since the sticky surfaces attract dust, reducing their spin.This is not the best racket you can buy, but as a first or basic table tennis racket, it is 5* & highly recommended.

Before this I was using a stiga vantage paddle for the same price which i thought worked pretty well but when i started using this paddle, it was a big step up from the vantage because because the control with this paddle is amazing even at high speeds.The rubber is so tacky that the ball actually almost sticks to the paddle which allows for some extreme spin.The handle is also very comfortable and it even comes with a case that would originally be more than ten dollars.Save 20% Off
Front Porch Classics Skittle Pool Pendulum Cue Skill Game
I did not purchase this through Amazon; it was through Back to Basics Toys. It was a Christmas gift for our 7 year old son. Granted the age on this toy is 5+, but our son is interested in regular pool, so we figured it would be neat to get this so he could get the idea of what it was all about. Yes, it's a fun game...if you can get through it without any pieces falling off and/or breaking! Just received our replacement Skittle Pool in the mail today and, already, it is broken. It truly is a piece of garbage as far as quality goes. It's all plastic...the "A" frames (two are included) are warped, making for total inaccuracy when "shooting" the cue ball. The plastic piece that sticks up out of the swivel arm (which a stationery cue ball sort of gets inserted on) snapped off ~ one of the reasons we needed a replacement game...and then one snapped off the replacement!! For the price, I would think they could invest a little bit more money and make this game a bit more sturdy.
Table under felt is plastic, not wood and therefore not very flat.This is mitigated by the fact that the balls don't have to travel far, but obviously a flat surface is the most important quality aspect of this game.
The swivel "aimers" are not constructed with precision.One is very tight and sticky, which is very annoying, and the other loose, which is less annoying.
Still my 4yo is having decent fun and probably improving his coordination.

Tile Lock Scrabble
I know that my love for the game of scrabble may be jading my true opinion of this product. This is my very first scrabble board game. It was a wonderful "just because I love you" gift from my husband. This is not the board that I would have chosen but I don't think he knew which one to get. He thought that it would be nice because the tiles are supposed to stay in place. Well I have no idea why the call it tile lock because the tiles don't lock. In fact they can move around quite a bit. Plus the board does it cheaply made. If you want a cheaper Scrabble board then this one will do. But I would recommend spending a little more and getting one that folds up or one with the original wooden tiles.

I purchased this item along with 2 other toys. Unfortunately this is the only item I am dissappointed with from the purchase. The picture definitely makes it look better than it truly is. The concept of the locking tiles sounds like a good idea, but the tiles are hard to place on the board as they tend to flip and not fit well. You have to struggle to get the word on the board and heaven forbid if you have to lift a letter to see what score box you are on all of the adjoining letters will flip out needless to say it takes the fun out of it. We had a set that had wooden tiles for 27 years and ended up losing letters (and some of the letters were so worn that they were partially deteriorated). Butterfly TR26B Playback Rollaway Table Tennis Table (Blue)
For some reason I thought I was getting a 3/4" wood top table, but was a little surprised to get some sort of plastic top. Apparently this is an outdoor table. With several young children I decided that it wasn't all bad especially since I was 2 hours into a 3 hour assembly process. There isn't quite the same soft tapping there is with a wood table, but it is considerably lighter and cups left on the table won't raise wood rings.The undercarriage is as solid as I can imagine a 190 lb. table can provide, but the table sways when 5-year old children lean against it. While I wouldn't want to repeat the assembly process, the end result was worth it and our whole family played (or began learning to play). The paddle and ball holders in the center are really handy.

When we were looking for these types of furniture for my daughter, we were not so sure about spending a lot of money since we do move often and things usually don't survive the move.So we looked for something within our price range but figured it wouldn't be really sturdy.Surprisingly, this one is quite sturdy for the price.It is made of compressed woods but the little support pieces here and there are solid wood and the white paint finish is nice, and the legs for the stool is angled out so it doesn't topple over easily.the mirror is plexy glass so it has slightly warped effect when you look at it, but it's good enough for my daughter (1.5 yr old).She loves to sit on it and comb her hair and put all her hair stuff in the drawer.The drawer is built so that it doesn't just fall out and drop on the floor whoever designed this actually put some thought into it.Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase.Being white color also makes it easy to change colors if I ever wanted to paint it or something.I anticipate that my daughter will be able to use this at least till 4 year old without a problem, not sure how tall she'd be, so I'm not sure if she can use it past four years old or not yet.
Shipping was pretty fast, it arrived within a week of ordering and we don't live in 48 continental U.S., so that was pretty fast.

Care Bears 13" Plush w/ DVD Cheer
It was a super good deal and my daughter loves it! We've watched the DVD several times. My only complaint is that the DVD is so very short and in just a few minutes I'm replaying it again. Other than that the bear is adorable and she loves toting it around the house.

Stress Buster
I hesitated at first. I mean, would it really stay on the table when hit? However, not one coworker has been able to knock it off (after it is stuck on). If I take a whack at it on Monday morning after its been sitting all weekend, that's a different story. It really needs to be re-stuck every once and a while. I got this as a way for my mom and I to de-stress from work. It's awesome. It comes with a pump and instructions, so it is easy to assemble. And the best part is that because of the suction cup base, you can hit it pretty hard and it won't knock over.I got this for my boyfriend and he got such a kick out of it but the only thing was that when you inflate, it can deflate even though you don't hit it. Other then that, it was fun gift!
