Marvel HeroClix Infinity Challenge Starter Set
What a terrific little game.I'm a happily retired Magic the Gathering gamer who still loves play from time to time. Now that Heroclix is here, my Magic stuff is going to collect lots and lots of dust.If you're a big fan of the Marvel Universe, then hold on to your web shooters! This game simply rocks! It takes minutes to learn straight from the box (the rules can be a bit confusing at times, but you'll have it down pat after a few games). It has collectability, a great design, and limitless stategy. This means big time replay value.
If there's one main gripe, it's the fit and finish of the product. Some of the dials don't "click" easily, and forcing it will lead to breakage. The paint job on some of the characters is also blah. And what's up with the look of some of the characters: Boomerang?Elektra?
Take my advice folks.Put away the Magic cards, the Yugi Oh-No cards, the ridiculously high maintenance "other" miniatures, and run (don't walk), RUN to your nearest game store.Heroclix is THE game to play!
By the way, I gave the educational value a 5.Why?Becuase I feel that ANY game that invloves strategy, mathematics, team work and memory selection is beneficial to anyone who participates.More importantly, is enhances social skills by promoting healthy debate/dialogue.Games, like comic books, are brain food.Let our kids do both!
What could possibly pull a jaded, 20-something gamer, fed up with the money-and-arms race that is Magic and disgusted at Wizards of the Coast and their attempt to turn every RPG into a simplistic, corporate clone, back from the depths of gaming despair?
In a word: HeroClix.
From WizKids, the folks who merged the collectability of Magic with the strategy of miniature gaming like Warhammer in their popular Mage Knight, without the insane price and rules that take years to learn, comes HeroClix, a tabletop strategy/collectable figure game featuring super heroes from the Marvel comics. Each figure has a certain point value, and you build your team based on a set number of maximum points, and then score yourself at the end based on how many figures you have left and how many of your opponents' characters you have KOed.Your "force" can be comprised of over 150 super heroes and super-villains from the Marvel universe, including Spider-Man, Professor X, The Hulk, Ultron, members of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Skrull warriors, to name a few.Want Magneto to fight Juggernaut, assisted by Cyclops?Go for it.Can Kingpin take down Annihilus?Maybe!
The "Infinite Diversity, Infinite Combinations" factor is just one of the things that makes HeroClix so fun.The rules, which are deceptively simple (yet confusing at times), are easy to pick up you can start playing in about a half-hour.For disputes, WizKids offers a major rules errata section on their website.Strategy takes a little longer to develop than the rules of the game, but after a few games a player should be able to come up with some killer combinations and be kicking tail with the best of `em.The super-powers can be a little confusing (thankfully, they are all color-coded and a standup card is included as a guide), but those who are familiar with the characters from the comics should have no problem figuring out who does what.
The Infinity Challenge set is a great start to a great game.Sure, there are some major character omissions Beast, Storm, and the Fantastic Four to name a few but WizKids are already talking expansions. The next set, which will probably be the same size (150 characters), is going to be from the D.C. universe, and will feature The Joker, Batman, and Harley Quinn, among others (those are the figures whose pictures are featured on the website). After that, there will be a smaller "Fantastic Four" expansion, which might have a few more missing Marvel people in it, too. There are also packs of objects to litter around the map (and throw at people), and a gigantic Sentinel enemy to defeat, coming in the next few weeks.
Will HeroClix become a game like Magic and Pokemon?Maybe. Most of the players are, like myself, jaded 20-somethings who are familiar with the comics and maybe that's not such a bad thing. It will keep it from becoming another psychotic arms race for the most expensive characters, and hopefully keep it grounded in the fun, happy-go-lucky spirit of the game, instead of becoming a rules-fest where people cheat and bend rules to win (a la Mage Knight). The only complaints are that the figures are sometimes bent, the paint jobs sometimes shabby, and they are sometimes very difficult to move (you can actually tear legs off if you aren't careful).Otherwise, great game, and it looks like it's going to get better.
Grades:
Fun Factor: A+ (NEVER a dull moment!)
Educational Value: C+ (Strategy)
Durability: C (depends on the figure)
Final Grade: B+

Heroclix is a heck of a fun game.Quick to learn and lots of action. Though the basic rules are easy to pick up, like chess, there's a lot of strategy you can develop, which characters work best with each other, how to overcome other's player's tough guys. In each box, you get a random selection from 150 different figures from the Marvel Universe (well, sort of. There are really only about 60 characters. Most come in three different "experience levels" representing a weaker, rookie version, a mid-range, and a tough veteran version.) Each character is given a point value based on how powerful they are, and you build a team based on total points. So a 200 point team can be two big point value powerhouses like Juggernaut or the Hulk or 8 or 10 smaller value heroes/villains like Daredevil, Vulture or even a few generic Thugs & Henchmen. No limits to how to build your team, so you can go traditional like all X-Men, or put together any wacky team-up you want. Spider-Man and Annihilus on the same team? Why not? With more expansions to come (the first was just released), you can play a very long time and never play the same game twice.

This game is not only a lot of fun to play, but it's a lot of fun to collect! Being a long time Comic Book fan and player of RPGs (Especially the Super Hero ones.) this game just offers a lot on so many different levels. Easy to learn rules that will take you awhile to master the strategy. Great looking miniatures that also look great sitting on display in your game-room or even your office. The Marvel Comics game is great, it features characters like Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Captain America. In a few months, the DC Comics game will be coming out! Look for Batman and Superman with that set.Want Marvel HeroClix Infinity Challenge Starter Set Discount?
Pretty cool toy.Got this at my local gaming store to try out with my ten year old daughter.Simulates comic book action and super-hero powers very well.Takes a little longer to learn than the box says, and you need a pretty good sized table to use the entire map.I gave it 3 stars for educational value, as one does have to do multiple single and double digit number addition and subtraction, which my ten-year-old found challenging. The pieces seem a little flimsy, and my 5-year-old broke King Pin off his base.
Step2 Art Master Activity Desk
The desk rocks something fierce.I stocked it with art supplies and unveiled it to my 3 year old to many crows of delight. However, the darn thing doesnt have pre-drilled holes. I suppose that's what helps to make it so sturdy, but wow.I'd be a-okay discouraging our pet elephant from perching on it if Step 2 would have drilled some holes for me.Now, perhaps you are lucky enough to live in a house with Tools. But if you're like me and use a shoe as a hammer, good luck.By the time I was done screwing through the thick plastic, my hand was a gnarled, twitching claw.
Otherwise, it's pretty awesome. But just be warned.
The desk is good for organization, and we love that it allows her to practice her creativity and writing skills whenever she wants!

Swimline Floating Mult-Game Gameboard
I LOVE THIS. VERY GOOD QUALITY. WE USE IT IN OUR HOT TUB AND POOL. IT IS MAGNETIC AND WORKS GREAT....EVEN THE DICE FLOAT. I HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR A FLOATING BACKGAMMON BOARD FOR YEARS AND THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE BLOW UP ONE I HAD. I USUALLY DON'T DO THESE REVIEWS, BUT I WANTED TO SHARE THIS .IF YOU BUY THIS YOU WILL CERTAINLY BE GLAD YOU DID.
But then I found THIS.
Up until now, sharing a body of water with my girlfriend has been TOTALLY BORING. I mean, what on earth can a guy and a girl even DO in a Jacuzzi? But with this set, FUN MOVES FIRST.
Only problem I've had with this set is when other people are in the pool, or jacuzzi bubbles are turned on. It can be really tough to move your knights in the early game when other people are pretending to have fun around you.
2 Drawer Nightstand--Cappuccino Finish
If you are not expecting this to be really nice furniture, this is OK.You have to put it all together, so it's similar to funiture you might get at Target or Wal-Mart with all the challenges that doing it yourself represents like drawers not fitting exactly once it's together. The quality is a little better as it's not pressed wood, it's actual wood, but only a small step better. The instructions are pretty simple.Overall, it depends what you are looking to get.I am guessing this will last my eight year old through high school where most cheaper products might not.Just don't expect really nice furniture that you might get at a funiture store.
Barbie My House Table Set
Bought this to go with the house noteven sure what I was getting and I was shocked in a good way! My 5 yr old had a little people doll house but it was time for an upgrade and since we don't have a lot of space this My House set is perfect! We did purchase a plastic bin for the acessories. The table is really cool it can be round or rectangular if she wants and comes with 2 chairs and little accessories for the top of the table. What fun she is having being able to play with Barbies in a doll house! Great product!

P'kolino Toddler Bed and Chair, White
Some of these complaints are silly. The guard rails are in the middle of the bed? Of course they arethey're there to keep the body of your toddler from falling out. The packaging was messy and some vacuuming occurred? You spend an hour trying to take apart any packaging from Fisher-Price, and then talk to me about the downsides of P'kolinos packaging.Would you like a modern toddler bed, that is made of solid wood, with sound construction, that arrives in one piece, that fits pretty much every toddler mattress, and when you're DONE with this whole silly toddler bed nonsense, it's still a viable piece of furniture? Yes? Well friends. Look no further. I am a hefty mama, and I can attest to the fact that I can lay on that bed, during rough nights, and rub a toddler back. I can attest to the paint not coming off, even during rabid teething sessions. I can tell you how sharp it looks in a room. I can tell you how wonderfully simple the directions to put it together were. And you, my friend, can buy this bed and enjoy. Wahoo!
I recently bought this bed for my 2 1/2 yr old son who figured out how to climb out of his crib. It took my husband and I less than an hour to put together. If you've ever put together an Ikea bookcase or dresser, this is along the same lines. Takes some concentration, but not difficult at all. My son loves it and it looks very cute in his room. My only complaint is that it is sold as easy to convert to a chair and back to a bed when you have to actually remove screws and use your tools to do so. When he grows out of it we won't be quickly converting it to a bed again for sleepovers. But overall we are very happy with our purchase.
Buy P'kolino Toddler Bed and Chair, White Now
We bought this bed for our daughter, who was a little over 2 and ready to move out of her crib.
PROS:
Attractive design: modern and fun but still kid-appropriate
Solid construction: shake it and it doesn't move easily
Decent price: not the cheapest bed out there, but far from the most expensive
Easy to assemble: takes about an hour, all tools included, reasonably clear instructions
Converts to a chair:we haven't done this yet, but it seems easy enough to do when the time is right, and it comes with the necessary cushions
Rollout proof (absent lots of contortions, which our daughter sometimes does)
CONS:
Not the most intuitive layout:because the sideboards are right in the middle of the bed, the spaces to crawl in and out are a little tight; it's not a big deal once the child gets used to it, but it's not obvious at first what the best way in/out is.
Low headboard:as others have pointed out, it's pretty easy for little heads to get bonked on it when first getting used to the bed. We covered the headboard with a quilt and that solved the problem during the transition.
Overall, it's a solid and attractive bed.Just be careful of the headboard!

I purchased this Toddler Bed for my son, he just turned 3. It is a solid piece with the great added functionality that it turns into a chair. I found the headboard to be similar to other toddler beds and with its rounded corners I found no problem with it. Looks great and is not that expensive. I would recommend!
Want P'kolino Toddler Bed and Chair, White Discount?
This Toddler bed suffers from a low headboard.Kids who aren't used to sleeping in beds and are used to flopping around in the crib tend to whack their head on the top corner of the headboard. I installed a little padding on top of it and it's much safer, if not quite as attractive as it was.
It was rather easy to assemble, it took me about 20-30 minutes. Mattress from the crib (large foam) fit in there nicely. It comes with a thin pad for the chair configuration, which we haven't tried yet.Looks nice, solid.
Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Screen Laptop
My 14-month-old grandson is obsessed with our real laptops. Loves to bang on a real keyboard and see images on the screen. The FP Smart Screen Laptop was worth the money; he loves to open and close it and hit all the keys, while enjoying the music. He's too young to really be learning anything. Teaches numbers in Spanish as well, which is a bonus. Works fine after being dropped many times. He still prefers our real laptops, but this gives him a chuckle for a few minutes.

We bought this for our grandchild when he stays the weekend with us. He was 10 mos. when we purchased it, he is now one and still loves it. He was always coming over and hitting the keys on our laptop and also on his daddy's lap top who works from home. Now he has his own laptop and he does the same thing, but the laptop responds back to him depending on the key or keys hit and so he plays with it for 30 minutes or more. He loves to open and close it to hear the all the different responses. Quite often he will play with it in bed at night until he falls asleep. I think this is a great toy for mimicking our daily lifestyle since we must use the computer for work at home. He thinks he is doing the same thing and leaves our laptops and us alone for a good amount of time so that we can work from home with less interruptions. I highly recommend this toy, it stimulates the child for a longer then normal amount of time and it is very educational at the same time.

I like the bugs, they are extremely cute.My only complaint is that I d like one day to find this kind of bath toys but not squirters. Where we live, there is always mold (no matter how often you clean your shower, does not change the problem) and mold has the bad tendency to sneak INTO any squirter and I end up throwing them away. But that s no flaw of these particular ones. I like these because they are cute and not too expensive so I can throw them away after a couple of months without remorses.

I'm not a avid table tennis player, but if you're looking for a paddle to replace those garbage sportcraft paddles that you might have, this one is worth a look at.
Being in the military, table tennis, is a great way to pass the time when you have nothing else to do. Most places end up having cheapo paddles. I bought this to have a chance against the avid players I've come across in my years of being in. But I'm not going to spend more than $30 for a paddle that I will use once in a while.
The price is right, and the quality is great. It creates great spin on the ball, just like the $50+ paddles out there.
No complaints here.

Ryan's Room Let's Eat Dining Room
After ordering both, I'm returning the RR sets for Plan Toys sets.RR sets are made in China, the wood isn't as soft and has that chemically treated smell (not super strong, but the PT sets have no odor whatsoever). You can see the glue, too.Plan Toys are just better all around. They don't farm out their labor and they are a very green company. Although I must admit, you can't beat how many pieces you get in a RR set and they are faaaaaaaar better than anything plastic! Also, incase you were wondering like me, the woods with both brands are so similar in color that they mix well.:)
This set is great!I bought it for my daughter's kindergarten class and they love it.It has been in the classroom for about 2 months now and it has held up to constant play without any problems.Plus it was a great price. It is not "pretty" if you're building a model dollhouse but if you want something kids can play with constantly without breaking, this is the set for you.

Not as easy to put together as it says. the wrapping for shipping was horrible. I almost did not accept it from UPS but it was a xmas present. Killerspin 604-01 Table Tennis Table Cover
Made of good material, zippers are convenient. For my particular table, cover didn't reach all the way to the ground as shown in the photo.
Pro: dust protection is great (we've got a lot from pollen, etc), and it's very convenient to have an always clean table under the cover
Neutral: rain protection is not really needed: rains happen very infrequently, and the aluminum table would be able to handle them just as well without the cover
Con: intense sunshine promises to ruin the cover in a year or so... table itself promises to be much more resistant to sun than it's protective cover
Recommendation: buy this cover if you have winter with ice/snow that could damage the table and would be repelled by the cover. Otherwise, go without a cover.

For 60.00, I would at least expect the cover to be waterproof after a very light rainit wasn't! Don't waste your money!! Sorry, but this cover did not do what we expected. We wanted a cover that would be waterproof and last a long time. We live in an area with high humidity and if it rains water goes through and sits on our table until we take the cover off and let it air dry. Also, it ripped very easily when it got caught on the net, twice from gentle pulling. Hope this helps.
