I ordered a set of 3 of these (since I already had 1), and it was expected to be here anytime from the 23rd to the 28th. It ended up arriving on the 19th, just 3 days after I placed the order, in a protective case and in great condition. Giving sorcery'sthe ability to be put on the stack is an interesting effect, one that I think could be a staple when combined with other effects not meant to be played as instants. Although I'm not quite sure how I plan on using it yet, considering it costed less than $1.50 to finish my playset, I was more than willing to do so on the off-chance they increase in price by the time I figure it out.

Anyways, great condition, great seller, great price. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.

Copag 4-Color Poker Size Regular Index Playing Cards - 2 Free Copag Cut Cards IncludedTheseCopag 4 color poker cards have an amazing feel to them and they are very durable.Would have liked the color to be bolder. But, that seems to be an issue on all cards we have seen.

Brought these to my poker club and got poor review. The Green and Blue needed to be lighter and brighter to tell them from the Spades.

Card Quality is what I expected from Copag--Excellent.

Our little poker group gets together ever other Friday night to play some hold'm. We usually wear out a standard deck in just a few weeks. A couple of our older guys aren't good at shuffling and really mess up the corners. It doesn't take long for people to notice what cards you have by the crease or ruffed corner. No more with these cards by Copaq. These are nearly impossible to mark or crease. They are slick to handle and seem to float on a static charge between one another. They are PVC plastic after all. It takes a bit to get use to, but after about an hours play everyone was raving about how nice durable they are. Everyone really like the 4 different colors too. Spades are Black, Hearts are Red, Clubs are Green, and Diamonds are Blue. No more miss calling your hand cause you thought you had a flush. If you are tired of buying a new deck of cards every 3-4 games, get these! I'm very happy with my purchase. Arrived 4 days after ordering from Brybelly via Amazon with no hassle. Thank you!

Fisher-Price Sleepytime Nursery

Fisher-Price Sleepytime NurseryThis nursery set had just want I wanteda basic bed and changing table for dolls. They are pretty small, and would not fit large dolls like American Girl or something (but would probably fit bitty babiesdo they still have those?). We have some little hand me down baby dolls that work just fine. The plastic is not terribly strong or durable, but I don't want to have these toys forever anyway. My daughter uses the set for a couple minute almost everyday to change a baby or put one to sleep. A doll bed is a good prop for encouraging your child's bedtime so that you can have them put their own baby to sleep first.

There really isn't anything special about this set, but it works well for us as simple props forpretend play with dolls. I didn't want to spend a lot of money or get anything else that lit up or made noise in my house so this set is great for that.

I purchased this for Christmas for my 3 year old daughter as she loves taking care of her babies and changing their diapers.I was disappointed at the size. she does not like the change table and never plays with it as it is too low to the ground. I would like to purchase one that she can stand at and change her babies.

I was horrified with this when I opened it.Not at all what I expected.Flimsy, ugly, and way too expensive.I sent it back ASAP.

KidKraft Brighton Chair

KidKraft Brighton Chair - WhiteI am very pleased with the quality of this product.I bought four different colors of the chair, and I love them all.The paint color is true to the picture. The chairs are sturdy and can easily support an adult if you are looking to sit with your child at the table for any period of time.I also thought it was fairly easy to assemble, and that is coming from a mom not a dad :)This product might seem pricier, but compared to similar chairs from Pottery Barn or Land of Nod, it is much more affordable, and just as cute.

Product is fine however it was marketed as a replacement for a chair and desk combo, the chair does NOT fit the desk for which it was marketed, chair is too small.

Buy KidKraft Brighton Chair Now

I ordered this chair for my 7 year old daughter (who is on the small size) for her desk. It states for ages 5-8. NO WAY!! I received the chair today and was in shock to see how small it was!! My 5 year old twins are even to big for it!! Although it seems to be a well made chair, it would ideally fit a child ages 1-4. They should change the age decription so people dont have to go through the problem of returning this item time and time again!

I was looking for a desk and decided on the Reflections Pearl White Student Desk by Thomasville via amazon.com.During the search Amazon recommended this chair to go along with the desk and offered a discount for buying the 2 together. This chair, however, is TOO SHORT to be used at a desk. The seat is 8 to 10 inches too low. When my granddaughter sits in the chair the desk comes to her neck.I would not have chosen the desk if Amazon had not recommended it to compliment the desk.I then had to go and buy another chair.

I bought two for my 5-year old daughter. Shipping is super fast. Chair is in great quality. Match her little table (24") perfectly. Both my daughter and I can comfortably sit in. I think it can last for pretty long time. But if you are buying it to match up a regular desk (adult size), it's way too small.

Package of 144 Plastic Picnic Ants

Package of 144 Plastic Picnic AntsThis is not a toy.At least not for any child less than 12.Since I didn't get it for that reason, it worked for me.It was a prop for my workplace. However the seller took extreme advantage of the shipping. They lied about the method of shipping and charged me 19.95 for post office shipping of a package weighing a few ounces.I would NEVER use this person again and strongly suggest they review their policies.

We have a potluck at my Church every 5th Sunday and we take turns being in charge and setting the theme.I chose picnic in the park and these little ants were a total hit! scattered them across the tables like they were following the leader and they looked really cute. The children especially loved them!A must for you party planners!

I purchased these ants for picnic themed children's games. They were terrific:small enough to seem real, but large enough to pick up and use. Each of the ants had well-formed legs with crisp edges, no thin plastic "run-over" that poorly made injection molded toys can have. The kids loved them, and I collected enough to use again for other games that meant they were sturdy enough to survive being stepped on, and substantial enough to easily pick up.

Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Magical Musical Mirror

Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Magical Musical MirrorI purchased this toy for my six month old daughter. She is just sitting up by herself. This is a

great toy for her. She loves the lights and the voice that says fun things to her. She chews on the comb.

This is a toy that will grow with her. Love this!

I bought this toy for my friends 1 year old daughter for a birthday gift.I received my package 2 days from ordering instead of the 8-10 I was expecting. This toy is perfect for baby girls all the way up to 3!There is alot to do and to learn from this, and it has adorable features like the little lipstick, "makeup brush", a bracelet and other little fun items. The mirror is a pretty good size for a little face to look at and the lights around the mirror are a great feature. If my 4 year old daughter and my 9 year old sister enjoyed looking at this and testing it out, I know a 1 year old will have a fantastic time playing with this.Lots of fun for everyone :)

I love this bear for my daughter it does everything it says it does. The head moves slightly back and forth while it plays a soft lullaby. It sits up easily and the butt of the bear is flat, where the batteries go, or it can lay down. Fur is ultra soft, and the feet light up too. I would think it would have been more cute if the bear's cheeks light up but ohwell. I saw reviews and some people said the bear didn't work out of the box. Mine didn't either the batteries that they sent with the bear were dead. I simpley put new batteries in and it works fine. This product came within about a week too. VTech - KidiArt Studio

VTech - KidiArt StudioGreat birthday or Christmas present!! Highly recommend this. I bought this for my 5 year old niece for her birthday. Great family time activity, still easy enough that she can create her own photos, or e-cards, to show off to mom. You take photos with a real digital camera, hook the art desk up to a TV, use an art pad to add decorations, stickers and fun backgrounds to photos. It hooks up to the computer, so you can then email and print the photos or whatever else was created.

I had purchased this product for my 6 year old daughter and she has turned it on only 4 times.Although the product is solidly built the issues outweigh the fun making this rather expensive product a bad deal.

From one dad's perspective, here are the issues:

1.The camera is just terrible. My phone takes better pictures and that's no compliment to my phone. With the advancement in technology today, why would a camera take such bad pictures? There's no flash so the room has to be brightly lit.The camera cannot be detached from the arm on the drawing table so the person has to sit directly in front of it.Although the camera does rotate from front to back and auto rotates the perspective, so that's good.

2.The graphics are just horrible. To get a sense, if you have ever purchased one of those video games that come packaged in a joystick and you plug into a tv that's what it looks like. For some this may be acceptable. Here is an example (these graphics are much better):Jakks SpongeBob SquarePants TV Game

3.There is no AC Adapter (power plug). You have to use batteries or purchase the adapter seperately. The console really only requires 4 AA batteries but there is another compartment for backup batteries, which is another 4 AA batteries.I'm assuming the backup power is so that all work created is not deleted when changing the primary batteries.Again, the system can be used with the main batteries BUT you get a notification on screen periodically that there is no backup batteries.

4.There is an option to hook up your drawing table to a computer. We use a laptop to save my daughter's work but honestly, if you have a laptop or computer already, you can download free (open source) kid-friendly drawing software. My coworker told me about tuxpaint (http://www.tuxpaint.org/) which is basically paintshop for kids.I would imagine that if you had a half-way decent camera, you can probably load pictures in this program and have the same basic functionality.Your little ones may not like drawing with a mouse but you can surely purchase a notepad for the computer. Here is an example of one (not yet purchaded or reviewed):Genius MousePen 8 x 6-Inch Graphic Tablet for Home and Office.

Hope this helps.

I bought this toy for my 5 year old daughter. The first one came broken. The second one came and I put batteries in the main compartment and in the backup compartment. There is no wall charger, you have to buy that seperate. The batteries do not last very long. Before, she was finished playing with it for the first time her batteries died, even the back up ones. You would litterally have to have hundreds of batteries to play this.A wall charger is a must!

I bought this toy for my then 5 yr. old son for Christmas last year. My son is very creative and previously received the kids digital camera for his b-day, so I thought he might enjoy this. However, the material is cheap and very poor quality. The digital camera didn't function correctly and after one use, the desk fell apart. Although, there is a separate function that allows you to connectthe camera and art studio to the computer, it also didn't function correctly. I paid $60 for a piece of junk! Don't waste your money.

We got this for our two girls (5 and 3) and it's probably a bit too hard for them to use.But if you get it for older children it could be too boring.

The idea is very cool and there are some neat things you can do..if you can move the pen correctly and click where you need to.There are so many things you can do but it's too complicated for younger children. My 5 year old has mostly just taken her picture with the camera and my 3 year old did take her picture and color on it once.

The problem really is that you click with the pen but if you press too hard it clicks when you don't want it to hence why there are 50 pictures of my 5 year old when we keep telling her to cancel!

X-Acto heavy Duty Wood Trimmer 15" Boxed (26315)

X-Acto heavy Duty Wood Trimmer 15' Boxed
  • Heavy Duty
  • Inch and Metric Scales
  • X-ACTO Hardened steel blade
  • Safety lock secures blade when not in use
  • sold as 1 each

Since this is a brand named cutter, I expected quality. There is a small gap between the blade and base where cutting begins. To cut paper you need to press the blade against the base. After the blade is down a few inches it connects with the base as expected. The cutting arm is connected to the base with plastic making it very flimsy.I would not recommend this cutter for an office environment.

I love my cutter. It saves me a lot of time. I make wedding invitations with it. The only complaint I have with it is that the measuring guide is stationary and very difficult to move from one position to another. They should have made it slide and lock only when you want it to. Good that it is tight and stays still while you cut but a pain if you have many different sizes to cut. Otherwise. I love it.

Excellent paper trimmer. I've used many paper trimmers, and this is the best. Smooth, easy, sharp cut. Excellent value.

Want X-Acto heavy Duty Wood Trimmer 15" Boxed (26315) Discount?

I bought this trimmer because I needed a guide to keep my medium weight cardboard from shifting while I cut.Well, it still shifts. When I began to cut it felt like the plastic handle was going to break and I fear it eventually will break since I will be using it quite a bit. I was not expecting plastic on a trimmer with heavy duty in its name, especially on the handle. The guide is great, but I feel it should be a little friendlier, like being able to be moved easier and locked easier when changing sizes.Unfortunately I have to take the guide out of the opening and move it each time. The guide is attached really well once in place though, but is a pain to take out and reposition. Also, I tried to cut like 3 pieces of 110 lb cardstock, but it shifted while cutting. It can cut 2 pieces without shifting.I expected it to cut at least 3 pieces since the 3 cardstock pieces are not even as thick as the medium weight cardboard. All in all, I would not recommend it because of the plastic handle.I feel that it can become hazardous and it will eventually break off and become unusable.

Little Tikes Swing Along Castle

Little Tikes Swing Along CastleThis was a gift to my daughter from the Grandparents for her 1st birthday. Her enjoyment in it was enthusiastic to start with, but very short lived. At the time, she was a new walker and although the steps up to the slide were short, they were a challenge for her to climb. As another reviewer said, by the time she had the hang of climbing and sliding within the next couple of months, the slide was way too short to hold her interest for very long.

The swing on this thing has very little range of motion.Instead of being suspended by a flexible rope or chain, the swing is attached with rigid bars, which stop the swing from going too far forward or backwards. While this is a sensible safety feature on paper, it doesn't translate to a very comfortable ride for the child being pushed by a parent.

I assume that the swing was designed for kids to use by themselves safely. However, most children in this age bracket aren't going to understand how to pump their legs to swing, they can't get themselves in and out of the straps with buckles, and if their legs are long enough to push themselves, they're too big for the swing.

I also feel that the entire unit becomes wobbly too quickly.Even after tighteing all of the fasteners several times, I always feel like it's a bit unstable and fear that it might collapse. It hasn't yet and I'm probably being overly paranoid.

My daughter is now 22 months old and the weather is warm enough for her to be outside again. She climbs up and over the unit, but not much else.We have purchased a very basic swingset for her with 2 belt swings, a toddler swing, glider swing, and slide for under $200 ... a far better investment, in my opinion. She will be able to enjoy this for years to come!

We purchased this playset for my son's first birthday, and we're very pleased!Although he's too young yet to climb ON the toy, he has a great time crawling through the castle and around and under the swing. We can also help him go down the slide, which he loves! He will definitely grow into this adorable and durable playset and it will get more and more fun as he gets older.

We have it in his indoor playroom, which it is sized perfectly for.It would also work well outdoors. The swing is a bit of a clunker, however. It doesn't swing very high, and only keeps his attention for a few minutes. That would NOT influence my decision, though, and I would purchase this set again if I had the chance!

Buy Little Tikes Swing Along Castle Now

We've had this set for a few months now and while it was initially a hit, it lost it's luster very quickly with my son. When we first got it (when he was 9 mos) he loved the swing, but was still too young to use the slide. Now, at 14 months, he no longer cares for the swing, and the slide is too short to really amuse him for long.

The swing is very stiff...it doesn't swing freely back and fourth. The way it's bolted onto the unit doesn't allow for it to go very far in either direction. My son is average in height, and when he sits at the top of the slide, it's almost as long as he is with his legs stretched out. As far as assembly, it wasn't too bad. I put it together myself in about an hour, but the slide was a thorn in my side. It (mine at least) wouldn't connect completely with the base, so there's a small gap between the slide and the top platform.

Overall, it wasn't a terrible purchase, but if given the choice again, I'd pass. It's something that becan only enjoyed for such a short time...I'd rather have taken the $140 and put it towards a larger, sturdier swing set that he can use as he continues to grow.

This is not worth ordering considering how short slide is. It is as long as my kid so he gets no enjoyment out of it. The swing doesn't do much either. He has been on this item 2 times for less than 1 min each. Not worth the price.

Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Seaside Sidekicks Sand Cupcake Set

Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Seaside Sidekicks Sand Cupcake SetI bought this Melissa and Doug sand toy (Cupcake Maker) along with two others by Melissa and Doug, the Cookie Maker and the Ice Cream Cone Maker, for my daughter's 4th birthday. These sand toys are awesome!I bought a sand/water table by Little Tykes (the one with the green umbrella) and filled both sides, the sand and water side, with sand.I added just the right amount of water to make perfect sand for building.I put four little chairs around the sand table and my 4 children, ages 4, 7, 10, and 12 all love playing in this sand "box" (table actually).I tried out the sand toys myself and found so many different and creative ways to use them.I highly recommend this sand toy along with the other ones by Melissa and Doug. For those of you who are confused as to the purpose of the little icing utensil, it is used to "decorate" the cupcakes. The pointed end pokes little holes, and the jagged end makes jagged marks... all of which is FUN for kids (and adults lol).Buy this... you won't regret it!

I purchased the Sunny Patch cupcake, cookie and ice cream sets for a recent beach vacation. My 3 and 5 year old daughters loved them! Each set has some great playthings and some that didn't get much use.

In the cupcake set, one daughter used the four cupcake molds to serve as "cups" for the scoops of ice cream she created from the ice cream set (though she also offered cones as an option for her customers). My younger daughter used the cupcake "tin" to create four cakes which she then turned out onto the cookie sheet from the cookie set.The sprinkle can (that came with the cookie set and the ice cream set) was a hit with both girls and I was glad to have two! These toys are well made and durable and will be enjoyed by my girls for many years.

I purchased this for my three year old granddaughter to take on a beach vacation. She played for hours with this set.She made "cupcakes" for everyone decorated with shells, seaweed, little sticks and stones and served them on large seashells.I agree with another reviewer that the icing tool has little use as it is flat, but my granddaughter used it as a little knife to cut our cupcakes. The pieces are sturdy and colorful. We even used the molds to make little houses when we made a sand village. This was well worth the money!

My son received this as a third birthday gift.He has played with it in our backyard sandbox. It is a cute product, but a bit too advanced for him.I think that this would be most effective as a beach toy or perhaps with a water table -somewhere where you have access to wet sand, which sets the cupcakes in the molds better.Overall, very cute, but not good if you only have "dry" sandbox sand.

Risk

RiskI used to hate Risk. A couple of my friends back in high school tried to get me to play a few times and I absolutely hated it. Seriously... playing with little tiny men, cannons, and horses; rolling dice to take over the world? NO thanks! But a funny thing happened. Fast forward 20 years and someone breaks out Risk at a small gathering. Begrudgingly I accept the offer to play, and wonder of wonders, I had a great time! After that night, a small group of Risk fans began to gather once a week to play Risk together. During one of our sessions, we discovered some rule variations in the back of the instruction manual, things like "Commander Roll" and "Capital Conquest" mode. We incorporated these rules and a few others and Risk only got better!

We were all quite excited when we recently saw a commercial on TV for a new version of Risk. It had a fresh new look to it and had new rules for playing that promised to speed up the game. So I bought it. Some of the new rules are the same as the rule variations from original Risk. The new guide book doesn't mention anything about "Commander Roll" but it does have new objectives and a very unique reward system that compliments the objectives. Rewards range from an extra attack dice, extra defense dice, an airfield, a guaranteed country card at the end of your turn, extra strategic maneuver at the end of your turn, and my personal favorite, an extra strategic maneuver at the START of your turn (can you say surprise attack!?).

Visually, the new game board is dramatic. Everything is a little darker but very bold. Gone are thesoothing blue oceans and seas. They're now blood red with subtle stripes radiating from the bottom corner. Most of the countries have remained the same but a few names have changed. There also appears to be a few extra land bridges connecting some territories, which is helpful (unless you reside in that territory!). The playing pieces have changed. Gone are the diminutive soldiers, cannons, and horses. They are replaced with simple flat arrows, a short one indicating one troop and a longer one with three stripes on it indicating, that's rightthree troops. They're roughly the same color as earlier versions of Risk but they are a lot harder to pluck up off the board during skirmishes and I don't think there's enough of a difference between the two arrows. This new version of Risk also has cities that are randomly placed about the board at the start of the game. If you control a territory with a city in it, you get to add a "+1" to your territory count before you divide by 3 to see how many troops you draft at the start of your turn.

Another change I really like is the country cards you receive at the end of your turn (if you defeated a neighboring territory). They no longer have soldiers, horses, or cannons on them. Instead they have either one or two stars. When you have at least two stars you can turn them in for troops. You can also collect as many cards as you want and turn in a larger number of stars for exponentially more troops. (2-stars=2 troops, 3-stars=4 troops, 4-stars=7 troops, etc).

There's a few other minor differences, but overall we all loved the new and improved Risk. I can't say that the game went any faster. It still took 4 of us over 2 hours to finish a game. Granted it was our first time playing this version and it will probably go faster next time. I think that next time we'll add some of our older rules to the mix which will help speed things up. Here's one of our favorites--the Country Card Re-Roll: when you receive a country card for winning a territory, if you later attack the country on the back of one of your country cards, you are allowed to re-roll one of your attack dice on each roll. It doesn't work when defending, but it can really help you overcome the defender advantage. And in case you don't have original Risk and have never heard of the Commander Roll, you must try it at least once! Once PER TURN (not per attack) you are allowed to change one of your attack dice to a six. This is kinda symbolic of your commander being present at that particular battle and helping deliver a more decisive defeat. It's great when you just wanna pop over to a neighboring continent and take one of your opponent's territory so they don't get the continent bonus at the beginning of their turn!

For more info on this new version of Risk, be sure to click on the "Watch it in action" link at the top of this page to see a great Flash overview.

UPDATE: Having played this new version of Risk many times since I wrote this review, I have to say I'm still a big fan! The game does go a lot faster (especially using our rule variations described above) and it's a lot more fun. Still don't like the little arrow pieces presenting soldiers. We still pull out an old version of Risk and use the soldiers, horses, and cannons from it. Parker Brothers: please change the army pieces!

Note: 1. Though I had the opportunity to playtest the prototype version of this game, the following is based on plays of the finished product alone.

2. The prototype version was known as Black Ops. This is the same game with different colors.

Relative to the enormous number of games that have been published, there are a rare few that have enjoyed popularity for fifty years. Risk is one of the rarities. Originally introduced in 1957 (in France) it was published in the United States, by Parker Brothers, in 1959. Since its inception, the game has grown in popularity and is now published around the globe in more than 20 languages. There have been several computer and console renditions as well as a variety of play-by-mail or play by email groups. There are Risk clubs and leagues and even a World Championship held in October of each year.

From 1959 to 1999 the only variation to the classic version of Risk was Castle Risk introduced in 1982. Beginning with Risk Napoleon in 1999 there has been a new variant introduced almost every year. (These include: 2210, Godstorm, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Star Wars the Trilogy Edition, Warriors (the card version), Narnia, Transformers and Express. (This does not include the various versions published either by small/self publishers or the variants published in Italy where Risk has a substantial following.) Each version is different enough from the other publications that no two versions are interchangeable. With the exception of Knizia's Risk Express the only feature that all of the games share is the basic combat system. These are not simply themed games where the play of the game remains the same but a new theme is tacked on; these are unique. The complexity of the games range from the vary basic (Express) to the fairly complex (Napoleon).

I have played the various versions of the game for many, many years (Moses and I even played a few he is a poor sport). Classic Risk was my introduction to the world of sophisticated gaming and what a ride it was. As with so many gamers that have played a substantial number of games of Risk, there are tales to tell, memories of games that will never be duplicated. This is an area at which Risk excels. The game generates a story as you play; it has an initial stage, a middle game and an end game. It is an aspect of gaming that so many other games fail at. The game unfolds as a novel or movie might. Many classic games (Chess for example) posses this trait and there are several modern games that have managed to include it (Diplomacy, Civilization, Imperial, Struggle of Empires, etc.) These are rare games; games that afford the memorable moments.

Another aspect of Risk games is the emotional response generated during the game. Few other games produce this affect. One can play hundreds of other games, that while interesting, fun and challenging, simply do not ignite this fire in the player. Risk does this and does it very well. All Risk players have encountered the normally reserved player that becomes overly aggressive during a match. Though I cannot explain this with certainty, I suspect that it is the result of the simple rules and player elimination in the game. Consider that the rules to most Risk games are minimalist, so basic that even non-gamers can easily absorb them allowing the player the opportunity to concentrate on strategy rather than remembering the rules. When this is combined with the possibility of elimination, the result is a do-or-die game experience. (Add in a dose of testosterone and the mix can be explosive as well as entertaining.)

The final common thread in all Risk games is the nature of the contest itself. Each of the games represents an epic battle of some sort from conquering the world to establishing control over a galaxy. It is this bigger than life theme that pulls so many players into the games. If one considers the theme in relation to that of movies it is simple to see that it is the epic films that are remembered, the films in which good versus evil in some near apocalyptic form is described. When suggesting a film to a friend, which is the most likely topic to interest him/her; world domination or planting fields? Theme plays a significant role in all Risk games.

So what of Black Ops? As I mentioned earlier I have been playing Risk for a long, long time. When I first played Black Ops, I was disappointed; this did not feel like Risk. I deliberately waited to write about the game until I had played it a few more times. First impressions are not always accurate especially in gaming. Since that first game I have played Black Ops a significant number of times; more than any other Risk game this year. Unlike classic Risk with its relatively straight forward strategies, Black Ops is far more subtle without sacrificing the simplicity of the rules set. It has all of the elements of a typical Risk family game. Transformers and Narnia have simple rule sets but lack the depth of Black Ops. This is a game where repeat play will reveal additional strategies and opportunities for play. It is a mix of Mission Risk, Capital Risk and the classic game with a few tweaks incorporated. It surpasses the original in the variety of routes to victory.

Similar to many Eurogames, the set up almost insures that no two games will be alike. Locations for the cities and the objectives will be different in every game. (I can foresee player designed objectives increasing the variety.) Retaining player elimination adds a level of tension to the game that is not found in so many others. In a four or five player game, player elimination becomes a vary viable option for victory. The playing time is short enough that elimination will not result in long periods of wandering about the room; most often, when a player has been eliminated, the game ends. As with the classic version of the game, familiarity and experience are rewarded. The dynamic is such that new players may win but the experienced player has an advantage.

I would be remiss if I did not mention a few of the changes incorporated in this new version. As with many home rules and several of the newer published versions of Risk, moving armies at the end of a turn is not limited to an adjacent space. A player is permitted to move armies along any connected chain of territories. This eliminates the problem of trapped armies and allows for surprise movements. The second and most significant change is with the determination of reinforcements. Cities, capitols, territories, continents and cards are included but the value of the cards has been completely revised. The new method introduces another level of strategic choices. It is a wonderful addition that presents the player with more control but tougher decisions as the opportunities have expanded. It is worth playing for this change alone.

Finally Seinfeld fans will be disappointed to discover that the Ukraine has been replaced with Russia. (Sorry Kramer.)

I have read in several articles that this version of the game will replace classic Risk. Originally I was disappointed believing that Black Ops just wasn't up to the task....I was wrong. While retaining the introductory nature of the classic game this is a far superior version of Risk. It is quicker and offers more `gameplay' without sacrificing the critical elements of Risk family games. Being totally honest, I have not bothered with the world domination version of classic Risk in years. When we play the classic board it is with the 2003 edition of Mission Risk. If I were to devote the time required for the classic game, I would rather play 2210 or Godstorm. Black Ops however, is a game that will come off the shelf often. It is a superb revision of the classic game.

If some version of Black Ops replaces the original it will not only introduce new players to more advanced gaming (as the original did) but may drag in some of the Eurogame crowd. As an introductory game, the variety of player decisions and options far exceeds that of Ticket to Ride or Carcassone and rivals that of Settlers of Catan.

Black Ops is the real deal.

I got this game because I saw all the hoopla about Black Ops risk on boardgame geeks and though the game does not look as awesome its still a blast to play.

The game takes many of the rules from the original risk and twists them just a bit to make the game go faster. For example this variant adds cities to the game and when you draft troops these cities add to your total number of possible troops.

Also you can hold an infinite number of cards, but each of these cards has a number on them and when you think you have collected enough of the cards your turn em all in for a number of troops based on the total of the numbers.

The game also adds rewards and objectives which can range from near impossible to not so bad.

The game is extremely fun to play and I would recommend it to any gaming enthusiast.

If you buy this game thinking it is like the Risk game you used to play years ago, you will be very disappointed. For example, you used to be able to turn in sets of country cards based upon the infantry, cavalry and cannon symbols on the cards and the additional two cards with all three symbols on them. But not in this version. And whoever created the army pieces never played the original Risk with the wooden pieces or the version with the plastic soldiers, cavalry and cannons. The game pieces in this set are tiny and guaranteed to be lost quickly. Its horrible. They could have made it compatible easily, but chose not to.

The 2008 revision of Risk brings the game into the 21st century. The new objective based victory system is a much needed refresh to the classic game of global domination. The objectives make the game go quicker (I finished my first game with a group of friends in about an hour and a half). But don't worry, you can still play a game of global domination if you wish.

Anatex Jungle Roller Coaster Table

Anatex Jungle Roller Coaster TableThis was purchased for the children's area in a library. Now the toddlers have entertainment and don't pull books from the shelves. There were children clustered around the table within minutes of placing it in the room, and I hear the little "clicks" of the beads most hours of the day. It is a real winner.

This is the most entertaining toy we have in our Tax Office. We have them in two of our offices already and when we open another we will definitely get the same one again.

Wood Spinning Top Toy Game Antique Wooden Vintage Reprodution

Wood Spinning Top Toy Game Antique Wooden Vintage ReprodutionWe have been collecting tops lately because our little kids are obsessed with beyblades and now all things spinning. This top is lovely but I don't really see "dancing" much.It is a bit difficult to figure out how to spin it, it has to be spun softly for the top to spin with the "person" upright. It is pretty and fun, but I guess I was hoping for more out of it.Overall, we love the looks of it, but it doesn't seem to get much action compared to other tops that are easier for little kids to maneuver (pull string wooden tops or small wood tops with little straight handles).Ideal for kids 8-108.

Disney Tangled Featuring Rapunzel Fairytale Tower

Disney Tangled Featuring Rapunzel Fairytale TowerMy 4 year old is crazy about Tangled, and I just had to get this for her.The good part is that she absolutely loves it.The bad....well, there's a long list....

The plastic is quite flimsy, I dont think it will take my dog running into and knocking it over too many more times.

The top part that opens doesnt line up right from the minute we put it together, so to close it you have to lift up while closing, not the most convenient for a 4 year old who just wants to flip it shut.

The part you paint with the water brush is really cute, but why would they put a cardboard paper like floor piece right there??The tower is a day old and we already threw the soggy paper away, so now the floor is just solid purple.Would have been nice if it was a giant sticker or the plastic were just painted on the floor, I really dont think the people who design these toys actually have kids.

The hair extension that came with the tower is a joke.I expected the hair to be attached to something, but its just a wad of hair about 6 feet long folded in half with rubber bands every half foot or so, and where the hair is hair is folded you're supposed to put the barrett in and clip it to your own rapunzel's hair.I didnt even get the rubber bands out and the hair was so tangled I couldnt comb it out, and since the hair isnt really attached you have to really hold it while combing or it just gets shorter on the other side.My daughter never even got to use the hair, I ruined it before I even got the last rubberband out.Maybe the hair wasnt meant to have the rubber bands taken out, but then obviously you cant even brush it, which seems silly to me

So after all my complaints about this overpriced house, I have to say that my daughter absolutely loves it.She makes Rapunzel (who dont forget is sold seperately!) walk up the stair case, go to bed, put water in her bucket and paint her picture, and she loves to hide the camilion and necklace in the hiding places.Despite my opinion, its my daughter's favorite toy.I just wish they would have made it a little better.

My daughter wanted this tower weeks before we saw the movie. She didn't want it because Rapunzel wanted to get out...she wanted it because it was monumental for the story since Rapunzel spent 18 years in it. I've never heard the story of Rapunzel being rescued from her castle...now that would be silly.

The tower has some small hiding places, and is fully furnished. It was all my kids wanted to play with after it came out of the box. Some of the pieces were a little challenging to snap together, but once in place they stayed together. I would definitely recommend this toy.

I was bit reluctant to buy it after reading a fairly medium review of this tower here but I got it anyways since my daughter really really wanted it.

I could not be happier with it. I am not quite sure aobut the complains of flimsines or something not closing because I asked a good old friend who works at the toysrus who always would help with honest and reliable feedback when asked about any given toy and she said that they did not have any returns on this toy nor complaints or exchanges and that location alone sold about 300 of them. Not ONE return! she was always honest with me about all toys we purchasedand if there was a problem she would always point what to watch out for or stay away. Never failed.

I am not sure what one expect from a 100.00 toy in general considering that it does what it is ment to do, it stands beautifully, it opens, it closes flash and when opened there is tons of room for the dolls and the bed. I don't know why people complaint that there is no enogh room for the bed, there is plenty

and you can position it iether on the top shelf or at the foot of the tower, kids do not necessarly insist on puting a bed inside the tower since it is no brainer that this tower in order to accomodate a bed in more enclosed fashion or the barbie doll on the top level standing wold need to be twice as big and take twice as much storage and money out of my pocket. If you ask me I can totally live with it. My daughter was extatic with it and two months later still is, she plays with it so much it is one of the best toys around.

Someone said aobut dog running into it.. as a strenght test.. well.. give me a 200 lbs labrador and it will smash all my and your toys. I am not sure if the toys are ment to be tested that way ;) or that this proves anything as I am not sure how many dollhosues would survive this kind of impact.

This toy looks spectacular and even if I was buying it for the looks alone it would be still worth it as it brings increcible magic into kid life,

I see her glooming when she plays with it and I hear her talking as she play her imaginative plays with it and her dolls as it makes alive the sceens from the movie in those moments, I saw Tangled movie with her and I myself fell for the magic of the tower as it gives total illusion of being part of this

beautiful place as it extends it into our home.

Charming, charming toy.

As to the hair extension, there are bands on it.. and it I don't know which girl can resist not taking them out and we all know what happens to the fake doll hair of this lenght when they are tangled.. oh well.. it is no problem here... my daugher went to removing the bands immediately and it all got tangled and she stated with triumph.. mom, NOW it is as it should be.. I asked??? and she said.. it is Tangled, just like the movie.

Tangled or not it does the trick even better as you can hang the prince beautifully of it and any other character you wish, it gives more grip that way, so no problem here with it. All Rapunzel dolls we have got their hair tangled to some degree including the 60 bucks one and what can you do, if you have

hair twice the lenght of the doll :) almost.. you expect this things. I am happy that it teaches child to live with things that do not look perfect allt the time and they don't have to put tantrum over because it is not as it was the moment it came from the box, if this is your goal then by all means do not remove the bands but then again, kids are about experimenting and I woudl much rather have tangled strain of hair and happy kid then perfect strain and kid who sit politely and mind her toys or she God forbid.. "messes the hair of the doll".

The tower stands in the corner of her room and looks SPECTACULAR and nothing short of amazing.

If I got a defective toy as someone said that this does not close flash I would exhcange it immediately because it does close flash and perfect

so no reason to dismiss all the fun if you indeed got a defective one. Those toys travel from around the globe and they have hinges and they are toll

and big and I would consider that it could happen that they can get messed up in the transport but I don['t suppose it is happening all the time because I would hear it from all my friends and family members who own it alike.

My 4 year old daughter got this from Santa for Christmas.I cannot tell you how much she loves it!!I had taken her to see Tangled in the theaters when it came out and she was star struck. She has been dragging a jump rope and/or long necklaces around behind her neck (pretending it is Rapunzel hair) and using our couch as her tower for weeks. After she saw the tower (and a dress up outfit and wig for her) under the tree, all her other toys have taken a back set.She spends time every evening playing Rapunzel with my husband and I.Just wish that I could get her the Flynn Rider doll and a Mother Gothel doll to go with it.Flynn is sold out everywhere.Great toy, wish I had one when I was little :)

D & D Minis: Vampire Hunter # 11 - Unhallowed

D & D Minis: Vampire Hunter # 11 - UnhallowedSome real nice details on this mini, like the folds of the cloak and the rivets in the armor.Even has a small satchel tucked underneath his right arm.One odd thing though is how unusually large this guy is, his head is easily twice as large as any other human mini, including those in helms. He's also incredibly tall.I'd probably use this guy to represent a half-orc character or some other race that's a bit more burly than humans.Still, very nice quality.
