Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway - Figure 8 Set Expansion Pack

I purchased this expansion set, along with the Thomas and Friends Water Towr Figure 8 Set, for my 2 year old this past Christmas. The expansion set was an afterthought, prompted in no small part by the manufacturer's promotion running at the time (50% off this set with the purchase of a Figure 8 set).

With the conclusion of many initial hours of intense playtesting (an ongoing process, with no termination in sight), my son agrees that this is an essential choice for any but the most basic (read: boring) wooden railroad layout. This expansion pack comes with switch tracks, and allows little train engineers (and their dads) to reverse directions or explore different parts of the railway. In retrospect, I think that I would have been dissatisfied had I not purchased this set to complement the basic Figure 8 layout, promotional price or not.

As far as the quality, the Learning Curve wooden track is made from hardwood, and is more substantial than many other brands of compatible track (i.e. Maxim, First Learning, etc.). This is a consideration when your child insists on taking the track apart by him/herself to put away. We have already broken a couple of pieces of generic track this way, since the male end of the connectors is a bit weaker than the rest of the track.

Overall, we are quite satisfied with this set, and look forward to many more hours of enjoyment.

Most Thomas sets are constructed in such a way that require you to buy additional dual ended pieces in order to be able to connect them to other sets and this expansion set was the only thing I found that included a couple of these extra linking pieces.Not only does my 3 year old son have endless hours of fun putting the tracks together, but my husband and I also really enjoy putting them together in a variety of ways.These tracks act like a puzzle that grows with your child as he develops.Our son started learning to connect them end to end, then he began connecting them in circles and ovals, and he is beginning to experiment with layering in figure eights and using bridges.I highly recommend this set to anyone who wishes to make Thomas track building easier while enhancing their child's ability to learn through building.

My grandson was obsessed with Thomas for a full three years, and he got just about every Thomas Train and accessory available. These are wonderful toys, well-made and he played with them for hours. However, when the train phase is over, it is over. You don't need to pay the rather high prices for new Thomas stuff there must be another child who has just outgrown his and you can get it used. It will still be in terrific condtion and just as much fun to play with.

We ordered the track expansion set and were very excited.We have been using the brand Thomas the Train tracks by Learning Curve for three years and we have never broken a track.The new pieces we received seem as though they are made from different wood.I noticed when we opened them they were different, but I thought maybe it was b/c it had been awhile since we added to our collection.Not even one week of play (and really not hard play as they occasionally run a train on it!) and one of the straightaway pieces developed a crack and splintered off!What??I know. I looked at the off brand track when I ordered and thought 'No I will pay more because I want this track to last.'I do like the switches and the T track, but for the cost vs. quality it does not add up.Buy the off brand and save your money.What a disappointment.

We got this for our 20 month old son when his train collection got to big for his figure of 8 track set and when you showed an interest in putting track together by himself. The item came with all the pieces in the photo description. This set goes well with a standard figure 8 track set (or bigger) and there is manual inside that has track set up suggestions for combinations of certain track sets. I would not recommend getting this set unless you have other track sets. It is not good as a stand alone set, but as I mentioned it is great to expand even a simple figure 8 track set.

JIGSORT 1500 - Jigthings Answer to a Jigsaw Puzzle Mat

Until I got the Jigsort I have been carrying my puzzles from room to room so our pets won't get into them. I have lost one piece of so many puzzles numerous times and either found it chewed up or never found it. The Jigsort has cured that problem. I love it! I like framing some of my puzzles so now I know I'll have all the pieces. Not to mention spending days working on a 1000 piece, a 500 piece or ANY puzzle only find find one piece gone is THE biggest letdown! Fortunately I figured out how to make the missing pieces so far but I would much rather not have to! Also,the pieces don't slide much in the jigsort but I like knowing they won't slide at all so to keep the pieces from sliding even a little I bought a yard of inexpensive felt and cut a piece a little smaller for each "drawer" and one bigger one for the main tray.

I have loved doing puzzles for years. Now I live in a smaller place and don't have the luxury of having a puzzle table available. The jigsort has been a great find to let me do my puzzles but store them safely away. The board has had ample space to build the puzzle as well as store some pieces. It does detatch from the portfolio case so you can move it around. The smaller sort sleeves work well but you do need to be gentle when you pull the covers across them when putting away. Two minor things to keep in mind -when you first have the puzzle built --maybe just the border and some inner pieces, even if you put the sort sleeves in on top of the puzzle, if you were to hold the portfolio from the handles so the package hangs vertically there is some slippage in the puzzle -sometimes some pieces disconnect. Also, the whole unit is a touch heavy. But if you are looking for this unit to mostly do puzzles in one place and then store it away (versus travel with it) I recommend this product. You can still travel with it, just keeping in mind it is a bit heavy and you may want to keep the unit horizontal. It is a GREAT product.

In echoing another review, I have found the Jigsort 1500 to be very helpful in organizing jigsaw puzzles in a small living space. I can begin the puzzle on the large board, organize other pieces on the four separate trays and put them all away in the zippered case. The case can be stored in a closet, out of the way. I chose the Jigsort 1500 which is quite large, but would probably be happier with the Jigsort 1000 which would be the right size for 1000-piece puzzles and fewer which I enjoy.

I too am a puzzle junkie.I have an old caddy that's still in pretty good shape but a little small. My sister gave me a 1500 piece (I think she hates me!) so needed something bigger to work on. Since I'm a tighwad I was hesitant about the price. I made my own "felt roll-up" for about $5.00. What a joke! So I decided an early Christmas present for myself was in order. Love it! It's made to no doubt last for years. Hold pieces in place and very easy to fold up to store. Love that it has a zipper closer instead of velcro. Over all a great product for anyone who enjoys puzzles!!

This thing is big! But that's what you need for a big puzzle. It's probably the right size for a 1000 piece puzzle to give some breathing room during assembly. The quality is very evident. If you have a flat area available, you don't have to take the extra steps of putting on all the covers and carefully storing in the zippered bag you can just stack the mats on the main board and easily move it to an out of the way spot. The felt surface is excellent. It holds the piece in place without making it hard to slide them on purpose. And the gray color is non-glare and works well with dark or light color pieces.

This a great little chess set.The pieces are sturdy natural wood.The magnetic board makes it jostle-resistent.My kids have had hours of great matches with it.

This is a great little table! It was easy enough for me to put together myself in 20 minutes (even with my toddler's "help") and it looks great. American Plastic Toy My Very Own Vanity

I bought this vanity for my 2 year old grand-daughter's birthday.She just loves it.She likes to sit and premp in the mirrow.It's just the right size for her, and takes up very little space in her room.The plastic curling iron, hair dryer, and cell phone were OK, but the smaller plastic items came in a sheet for you to snap, or cut out.This would cause bumps on the plastic which could scratch the child.Her mother decided to go and buy the small products that were already put together.All in all, she is really enjoying her vanity.

Save your money. This think is junk. The edges of the plastic are sharp, it is flimsy, and whomever photographed the product must have done some major color correction. It is so horribly bright pink. I returned it and paid about $20 more and got a nice on at Toys R Us for my daughter that has fully rounded legs, (no sharp edges) and it is a nicer and more subtle shade of pink. Much better built, too. Skip this one.

Butterfly Trebuchet Shakehand Racket

I had my first Trebuchet for about 7 months before it wore out. I played a ton of games with it and loved it from the first time I used it. I tend to play using a lot of undercut shots and variable spins. This paddle is perfect for that and a jack of all trades as well. It has a great amount of grip that lasts for a long time. The handle is comfy and has a good 'feel'. The overall paddle is well constructed and can take a lot of abuse. The weight is just perfect in that it allows you to swing harder or put a lot of spin on the ball without it flying off to much like some of the more high-end performance paddle. The means that you can more easily place shots and have greater control of the ball. After my original wore out I tried buying a mid-level Killer Spin paddle but, it didn't have the same grip(it was a cheaper model too, Killerspin 110-03 Jet 300 Table Tennis Racket). The Trebuchet is the only paddle I'd ever buy even if I was to spend twice as much.

I have a friend that plays with a $100 DHS paddle. He offered to sell an extra to me for the same amount as the Trebuchet but I wasn't interested. Once you get used to the particular feel of a paddle, it's difficult to adjust. The Trebuchet is much swifter than the DHS models which tend to be bigger and heavier.

This is a great paddle, the second one of its kind that I've bought. The first one was destroyed in a firey rage of beer drinking ping pong gaming. Sticky, powerful, awesome.

I recently got back into playing after being away for 40 years.I purchased a killerspin racquet but wasn't sure if it was all the rust from being away or the racquet that was keeping my game from returning to what I remembered it to be.Then I had a coach change the rubbers on my racquet to pips on both sides.Still wasn't able to reliably hit top spin front and back hands.Then I purchased this Trebuchet racquet and night and day!I suspect that a player's game is the real determinate of how well a particular racquet will perform but for my game this racquet is perfect.

My son who is 4 and a half saw this set in the local Barnes & Nobles and immediately fell in love for it. My husband and I were a little bit concerned about his age and the suggested one. once again Mattel is sticking to its goal of giving dc fans characters they want and also buidling teams. this time with bronze tiger one of the dc universes martial artists though his big claim to fame is he killed the original batwoman. the figure has a nice scuplt including the faceespically the yellow face paint. plus he is articulated. not to mention the tiger mask he comes with is interesting. plus bronze tiger comes with a bunch of weapons a bo staff a sword and the same sticks night wing uses that one could give to night wing . all an all a good figure not to mention fans of the sucide squad have another member finaly.

Though I consider myself an action figure and comic geek, I knew nothing about this guy.I just liked that he was dressed in a cool gi and had a tiger head.This is a really neat figure.The arms and legs are standard DC Universe, but the torso is a little different and of course it comes with the human head and tiger mask.It also comes with Deathstrokes sword and Nightwings sticks I guess you would call them.This is a cool fun action figure.

Isle of Lewis Chess Set - Unique Themed Chess Pieces

I have been fascinated with the Isle of Lewis pieces for awhile and put this item on my wish list. It cost about 1/3 less than the other same design sets so of course I thought hey that wins.

However they are cheaply cast and the detail that makes Isle of Lewis so charming is poor.

The description says that it comes with a chess board but it only came with a vinyl sheet that has a chess board marked on it.

Essentially you get what you pay for. This is not a quality collectors set.

This Isle of Lewis Chess Set (pieces and pawns) is an absolute treasure in my opinion. My decision to buy this product came down to the product description given by Amazon andthe seller---how close to the originals these replicas are stated to be. I wanted something as close to the real thing as possible for a good price. I was not disappointed. These pieces and pawns exceeded my expectations. They are a nice size and weight; they stand nicely--no unevenness or wobbles. Each member of this set seems to have its own unique personality, which makes for an interesting study beyond chess playing. (I've uploaded some images for this product for you to view.) There is an antique, human-made feel about these objects that adds to their appeal. They are not TOO perfect---welcomed in today's world of machine-wrought multi-copies. One suggestion that I have is when they arrive, open the box and set them out for a while as the smell of their new finish can be quite potent, if you have a sensitive nose.. I suppose the finish aroma is probably from being packed and shipped.:)//My favorite piece is the Maple King. More than a game item, he's an fine bit of art with his detailed, bearded face and his regal throne. The Ivory King seems a bit chubbier and younger in his little persona. The chess set would make an exciting classroom addition. You could build whole lessons about observation, strategy, and critical thinking with them. This set would also make a great graduation and / or Christmas gift. The vinyl board allows you to play of course; however, once you see these chessmen, you'll want one of those nice boards to compliment them. Do a bit of searching on Amazon to see the boards available. // Yes, Harry Potter fans will find this set intriguing as well, but remember this set is purely Muggle...no magic other than that of your own imagination and perhaps, chess skills! LOL

That said, I suggest you spend some time with one of the recent museum books that show what the real Lewis Isle chess men look like.

This set has none of the individual charm or detail that makes the real thing such a marvel. If I may use an automotive comparison, this set is

sort of like a Ford Mustang compared to a Porsche.It may be good, but not in the same class.

I have wanted this figure since the day I found out it was available. The detail is amazing. The guitar, strap, pedals, clothes, amps and even Jimi's necklace and turquoise ring are there for the viewing. Since today is the day of Jimi's birthday (nov. 27th), I feel proud to own a true momento of the world's best guitarist and true Voodoo Chile. Being a guitarist, I do truly appreciate the exquisite detail of this Hendrix figure. You can almost hear the Star Spangled Banner blasting through the Marshall stack and making history. Alex Magnetic Tabletop Easel

This table-top easel is great because we have a small apt.It currently sits on a small play table and when our toddler paints we move it to our dining room table so she has more space.When the paints are not in use, our 3 yr uses it to draw/story-tell.Even our 1 yr old likes to cruise by and make marks with the crayons/chalk.It is very nice quality and easy to put together. Since this easel is easy to assemble/disassemble, you need to re-tighten the side knobs occasionally. I like that if we want to store away, it won't take up a ton of space.It would make a great toddler gift.

While this product is great for small spaces and offers fun activities as promised, I had a problem with mine sliding back while my child was "creating."When I set something behind the legs to keep it from sliding, it began collapsing altogether.I didn't rate it lower because I put it away for when she can draw with a lighter hand.I was also thinking I might affix some sort of rubber to the legs because our table is very smooth (but it is a "tabletop" easel so I would have thought the designers would have accounted for smooth surfaces.) Also, I didn't like the way the paint tray/cups cover the bottom portion of the marker board/painting surface.

Pros:

The scene on the lamp is super cute

Being battery operated is nice so I don't have to worry about my daughter playing with the cord

Lightweight and portable

Cons:

The regular light is too dark to be used for a desklamp and too bright to be a nightlight

What is supposed to be a nightlight flashes way too fast, almost like being in a dance club

You cannot pick one color for the nightlight, it flashes through all the colors

Elnith Astral Reaver Monk Dark Heaven Legends Series

I don't know how to really review these miniatures.The monk looks pretty much like he looks in the picture.It is a metal figure with no plastic base, so if you want to mount it on one, Id suggest epoxy or something similar.

There are plenty of raised areas on this figure so that painting the different details isn't very difficult.I really liked how mine turned out, and have wound up using him as a zombie or other undead bad guy repeatedly.You can order this one on the Reaper Miniature site, and if you buy $25.00 worth, they will ship for free.

Super Scrabble Deluxe Edition

30 some years ago i received a "deluxe scrabble board" I still have it today, it has a swivel base and wood letters. Over the past several years I have enjoyed the "super scrabble" game more and bought one for myself; recently I wanted to give one as a gift and was very excited to see the "deluxe super scrabble" available so I purchased it.

The game fell short of my expectations it does not actually have a swivel base but turns fairly easily, the letter don't lock in place easily and are rather annoying! All in all, the quality is just not what I expected, but, it IS "super scrabble" and fun to play regardless of it's quality!

Compared with the previous Super Scrabble Deluxe Edition this version has smaller plastic letter tiles and a smaller non-folding board.The 21×21 tile playing area is roughly the same size as the 15×15 tile area of standard Scrabble, but the lettering on the board and tiles is still easy to read.It uses the "Tile Lock" design rather than a raised grid to keep pieces in place.The pegs do not hold the pieces as firmly as the description might imply; I worried that cleanup would be difficult, but while the pieces stay in place when the board is moved they easily fall out when the board is tipped or turned over.The board does not rotate as such (i.e. it has no ball bearings or wheels) but it is so light that it can be easily turned on a smooth surface or even lifted (on a tablecloth, for example).On the one I received there are one or two squares where the little plastic posts which hold the pieces in place are asymmetric so that a letter tile doesn't quite fit.If there were a separate rating for item quality, I'd give that three stars: it doesn't feel "deluxe".

I was happy with the price of this. I bought it for my mom as we play a ton of Scrabble when I visit her. The description is misleading as it said that it has a rotating base. It does NOT have one. It just has little pads on the base that makes it a bit easier to turn. We haven't played a game in it yet so will update if there are any other problems with the game itself.

This version of the game was quite expensive and I expected a superior product.The letter squares are light weight plastic that are hard to keep on the board.It has grids but they are smaller and less effective than other scrabble games. The letter holders are also very light and unstable upon using.Do not waste your money.

This is an over-rated and disappointing Scrabble game. They made the tiles smaller and the playing area too large. The tiles probably fit well in the hands of an 8 yr old child but not an adult's! Try pickingthem up without dropping them. Worse still is putting them in their appropriate squares on the board. They really don't don't go in that smoothly and if you do get them in, they oftentimes slide out of position. The item is a disappointment because one expects to enjoy the game. In my experience the game was not a fun time. Reading the minuscule values on the various squares on the board taxes one's eyes.The company should have supplied telescope lenses to read the small print!

It's poorly constructed. I had to buy a 16" lazy susan to make turning the board easy. One would have thought that for the price one paid for the board there would have been a lazy susan base.Because it doesn't have one, moving the board around is a drag!Don't waste your money on this Scrabble game. Keep to the old one as the tiles are bigger and sturdier than these cheap plastic ones.Furthermore, the dark blue stands for holding the tiles, is flimsy; you'll find them falling over more times than standing up properly. Suggestion: Save your money and buy something that's better designed and convenient for use!Thumbs down!
