Mini Fiber Optic Light - Blue

When I bought this I thought it changed colors, turns out it just stays blue. Nice for a night light.

In these modern times, there are loads and loads of different kinds of toys to be made. However, not all of them are good, and I am into things which look cool, I could care less about a robot that walks, talks, beeps, and blinks.

These fiber optic mini trees are sold on Amazon.com, what better plays to find the best things? Anyways, they also happen to have the best deals most of the time, I saw these trees on there listed for $7.00 with free shipping, so I thought I would pickup a couple of them.

First thing I noticed when I got them out of the shipping box, is that the trees are incased in plastic tubes to protect the micro fibers. I just slide them out of the tubes and right away the fibers want to spread out in their tree like form.

The base is all made of plastic, but its very shinny plastic! Lets just put it this way, it looks like chrome, you touch it, you smudge it. The trees operate on 3-AA batteries, of course not included, or will operate by a 4.5VDC adaptor, which is also unfortunately, not included.

The base has a power switch on the bottom of it to allow you to turn it on or off. Though the micro fibers are not bright enough to see in broad daylight, you can however see them at night. Which is fine by me, since most neat light shows are done at night anyway.

For the $7.00 I paid for each one, I have to say I am quite impressed with the micro fiber trees. I just wish that they came with the adaptor so that I did not have to burn through batteries all the time. Get your rechargeable's ready LOL. 4 out of 5

This light is only blue, so it does not change colors like the other ones do.At first it seems like not all of the fibers work, but it is actually just the beam of light from below the fibers is too narrow for the base, and therefore, not all the fibers light up.It will come packaged poorly, as last week I ordered the one that rotates and changes color by the same manufacturer, but it was delivered in a crushed box, and out of the product package inside the box.I ordered this "smaller" one to replace that one, and it is actually identical in size, with the only differences being this one does not rotate, and it does not change to the other colors.

I always wanted one of these.I love the novelty lights and things like that but my lava lamps always clumped up and I broke my electric static ball so I finally got one of these.It's nice to look at when I'm trying to go to sleep at night and just plain nifty.

I loved the box and tools, they look very nice, cute cranes and all, but the rocks are the plain , dull sort, not the glowing jade advertised. just to let you know....

I do not believe this is a toy... It is very calming to use, and therefore, it is a form of meditation. The Book of Meditations that it comes with are enlightening quotes, ones that will help you reach peace of mind.

The box is well built, and sturdy. It comes with two bags of sand, but one is enough to fill the box. The rocks are not jade as advertised, but they are polished, shiny, and smooth. One of my cranes fell over at first, but I just had to pull one of the legs back and it stands just fine=]. The broom that you use to smooth out the sand when first beginning, and after each use doesn't really work how it is supposed to, but I use the back side, without the bristles and it works out well. The sand is really, really soft, and white, and the box is gorgeous.

This is an excellent product. I was so excited to receive it, and now I am so glad to have it.... FOREVER!! I love my new garden. It's fun, and you feel like you have an actual garden to tend to. It's FANTABULOUS... Mine is anyway... Other customers said their box was wobbly due to uneven legs, but mine isn't. If you do not purchase this Zen Garden, I still highly recommend getting one, although, this one seems to be the best one out there.

Tetris Constructible Desk Lamp Light

I pre-ordered this neat lamp because I have been a fan of TETRIS since before I could walk! This light is great, and is appropriately priced for what you get. The packaging was very protective, and the box arrived inside a shipping box which means the actual product box is pristine for gift-giving. Each piece is wrapped in a protective baggie.

The pieces are plastic with thin metal borders. I was under the impression the pieces had magnets and would "stick" together when they stacked this is not the case. When you put the lamp together, in whatever shape you choose do so on a level surface that will not be approached by pets or children. The pieces are not magnetic and do not stay together on their own, they just require a lot of gravity in the area they'll reside. (Alternatively, hold the "down" on the D-pad to keep the pieces connected.)

The blue block is the base. It will receive the power, so you must like blue since it will always be on whenever your lamp is. There is an on/off switch on the back of the blue brick so you needn't unplug it or hunt for a cord switch every time you want it off. All you need to do to turn the others on is touch them to the blue base when it is switched on and plugged in. The colors are pretty vibrant, but the light behind them is not a "general glow;" it has a focal point as most LED lamps tend to have. The lamp should not be used for task lighting, since it is not bright enough. It would make a decent ambient, mood light, or to have on while watching TV or playing TETRIS so you don't get a headache.

All in all, this is a great light! I bought another for myself so now my whole family can bask in the glow of old fashioned video games without actually playing.

Edit: I purchased this light when it was around 45 dollars, but since the review went live the price has changed. I would not buy this lamp for the current price of 80 dollars unless novelty lamps is your "thing" that you are super into. If I had spent that kind of money, I would be disappointed both in the fact that it can be found much cheaper elsewhere and that the construction doesn't live up to that price. Also, I have amended the educational rating of the lamp, since I had to explain conduction to someone who asked how it powers the other lights. I suppose... that oughta be filed under educational, too, oughtn't it?

I bought these for my desk at work and everyone loves to stop by and play with them.Our favorite variation is to play tetris-jenga in which we build these tall, precarious structures that just barely stay together.We don't get much work done anymore.

I have this setup in my office on the window ledge.I like how the pieces can be moved around like tetris pieces.I'm only giving 4 stars because it is a little pricey and sometimes its hard to get the pieces together just right to get them all lit up.

My sister received this as a Christmas present from her boyfriend and she was most kind to let me have a play with this superb product.

Included are one of every tetrimino shape (which light up in their own individual colours), an AC adapter and a brief manual telling you the do's & don'ts as well as many different formations you can do.

To start up, you first need to power up the blue straight piece, it has a power socket and a switch located on the back, once turned on it will light up, then all you have to do is place another

piece on top to which it will then light-up as well.

I was amazed to see it actually work and you can experiment with all kinds of formations.

Once you've completed the desired shape, the end result is an awesome looking light that will be much appreciated by any gamer.

Whilst this product is a bit pricey, after having a go with it myself, I'm more than willing to pay the current price for one and would highly recommend it.

I paid 50 for it. I like the idea v. much. However, how it is made is far from the idea... V. light plastic, the LED inside are quite weak, it is hard to position the blocks because everything is very sleepy (the improvement would be some magnets in the frames). Bottom line: for 20-25 it would be a great gift even with those issues; for 50 (or more) I feel guilty I did it.

Without getting into all the convoluted details... I have 7 young children for which to buy gifts. I bought Learn To Dress Squeak E. Mouse originally for one child and decided to give it to my neice. She's a twin so I sought a similar toy for her brother and found a Dress Me Pirate. Disney Motion Lamp, One Size

The bulb failed on the first night.The projections are weak and pointless.The lamp has to be within inchs of a wall and then the pictures are weak and partly blocked by the lamp.Toooo costly for what you get.

It says it projects an image on the wall, there is nothing but a white light. This is made of cheap plastic and it gets very hot within seconds of being on. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

Roll-It Tic-Tac-Toe Board Game

I actually bought this for my 6 year old son as an intro to math game.But we have been playing it as a family and it has also been a tool for my 8 year old to reinforce begining math skills.We have all been having fun with this.The board does come apart too easy and the chips do move around, but I just have to remind my boys not to bump the board.

Mega Bloks Thomas Adventure on Misty Island

I'm a mother of 2 boys ages 2 1/2 and 5. My boys love Thomas and they love bloks. This product took me an hour for set up while being helped and hurried by 2 anxious little boys. First set up was hard but every set up since has been easier. Set comes with 2 trains which is fabulous especially when you have 2 children or those boys who like to have a train in each hand. (Thank you)Love the creative opening doors and bridges and under the mountain set up.

There are 2 ways to set the track up both are fun. There the tracks fit together nicely once you can figure out how it suppose to go. My boys played for over an hour with the 1st set up until one tripped and landed on the track and the whole thing tumbled down. Every time it was knocked down Mom had to set up. Hopefully in a yr or so my just turned 5 yr old will put it together himself with minimal help from mom.

I bought this for my four year old son and was looking forward to seeing him play with it.Not to be however.After watching my mom and then older son struggle to get this set assembled, I finally took time out to lend a hand.I have 5 kids and have assembled more toys than I can remember so was not expecting any trouble.I soon learned though that this block set is not designed well at all.The blocks do not fit together snugly and come apart with the slightest touch.It takes repeated presses to get many of the blocks together in the first place.

With other block sets that we have of this kind, once you press blocks together to build something the creations are actually fairly solid and can be lifted or moved without much trouble.This set is more like a house of cards.I can't imagine a child of any age actually being able to play with this without it coming apart within minutes.After wasting about 10 minutes it was clear this was an exercise in futility.The set has been boxed up and is going back.Wasn't worth it even at the bargain price we got it for.Not sure if the set we got differs in some way from those that received positive reviews here but based on my experiencedefinitely one to avoid.

While MegaBloks are not the same quality as Duplo (duplo is much better) for certain special pieces, I love the stuff.

This set is made of majority special pieces that I really like(rocks and track).

Mixed with Duplo I love what this set brings to the set up.

What I like most about this track, is that it fits well with the Duplo track and vehicles that came in Duplo sets that have the highway track and vehicle (not the normal Duplo train track, which is not compatible).

The combination solves the one issue I had with the MegaBlok track, which was a lack of straight pieces (or even curves that did not change levels).

The compatible Duplo track and vehicle can be found in several sets, but no current sets. There is one set from 2009, part of the Dacta line, that is still available, but costly.To find it on Amazon search on "Lego Duplo Brick Runner".

One can also obtain the Duplo brick runner track pieces on eBay or other sites that sell used Duplo.

D & D Minis: Heroslayer Hydra # 20 - Lords of Madness

This is one of two hydra miniatures I could find online to use in my Dungeons and Dragons game. Using a miniature to represent what my players are fighting really increases their enjoyment of the game, so I try and have at least one representation of each kind of monster they are fighting.

This hydra in particular has a very high market price online, with an average of $40-$50. If you don't have a lot of money to spend and feel crafty, I have seen people buy a handful of cheap dinosaur toys and epoxy extra heads to one. I am short on prep time for my campaign as-is, so I chose the costly but quicker route and bought this mini for $40. It is huge in both size and base, meaning your characters are in for a real encounter should they face this creature.

Overall, the collector nerd in me is still excited when I take this bad boy out. If I treat it well, maybe my son will one day use it in his own game. Thanks for reading and good luck in your dungeoning!

Disney Princess Patio Set

This set is cute and my daughter does like it, but it's just not made well. The chairs are so flimsy that she has a hard time sitting down in them without knocking them over and falling. After ONE rain, the umbrella and the part of the chair where all of the bars meets were rusted. You can't put it anywhere that isn't in a yard because the umbrella has a stake on the bottom to hold it in place, so if you put it on concrete, it just wobbles around and won't stay up. The plastic on top of the table is cheap and flimsy as well. It's just all together poorly made. It just sits in my yard for looks I guess, because my daughter won't even touch it now for fear that she'll fall.

I bought this for my granddaughters birthday.She and her sister loved it.They play on it and eat their meals on it.My son has to carry up and down the stairs because they want it in their room to play with there too and back down stairs during the day. When it arrived she was told that Granddad sent it and when they played with, Emma said , Granddad is thebest!

I bought it to place on our balcony, we live in NYC so I needed something small enough to fit out there, but big enough for my 3 year old. It is durable. However now that it's getting colder out, I have been getting ready to store it away, however while the table, umbrella are easy to unassemble, the chairs however are not. I tried to figure out how to fold them and they just won't fold. I had 3 other people attempt to do it to no success, the little lever that your supposed to push down on to fold seems to be jammed on both chairs which I find very odd. This is why I am only giving it 4 stars.Otherwise it's great for the price.

Glitter Lava Ice Art Desk

Why would you pay almost $54 when you can get this same product at Target for $20?

I bought Glitter Lave Ice Art Desk for my 8 years old daughter who loves arts and crafts. She had some hard time to spread the lava evenly on the desk. Then the finished art works could only stick to the window for a couple of days, then they fell off. I tried to use water to help them stick to the window but to no avail. Eventualy the lave art works she created curled at the edge and made them impossible to stick to any flat surface. My daughter did enjoy making it, but felt dissappointed about the peel and stick part. We decide to use glue to stick them on another piece of paper for display. Don't trust everything the manufacurer said about this product.

Horrible product. Some of the inside mechanisms had fallen apart in shipment, so I opened it up. Was surprised to see the shoddiness of the work under the hood. Sloppy, awful. The flippers were VERY hard to push, which made it no fun for me, and completely impossible for my kids. Even when I gave my aching arms a workout, it still wasn't much fun not a well-designed board, even if the flippers DID work. The picturesque backing panel fell apart after one day. Stay away!

Pros looks good; has headlight, smoke, whistle and lighted caboose; fastrack is a nice track system; can add lots of Lionel accessories; Amazon price of two hundred ten dollars is a respectable price.

Cons weak transformer; Christmas music boxcar needs a 9v battery and the on switch is on the bottom of the boxcar;

We just opened the track cleaner that goes with this set. Can't wait for the kids to have a new tradition with the Christmas train. My son carries his trains around with him and pushes them on the track and they do get beat up but they still run. The local train shop has tightened screws, fixed motors and couplings, etc. Only one engine from 10 years ago was not worth fixing since it was cheaper to buy a new engine. Hoping this set will last a long time.
