Franklin Mint Monopoly Collector's Edition

Franklin Mint Monopoly Collector's EditionLast month I bought a Franklin Mint Monopoly off Ebay and it is one of my favorite things that I own. i collect Monopoly games and to own this version feels like I own the crown jewel of Monopoly games. The board is beautiful and the gold hotels look beautiful as well. The deeds are kept in a fancy portfolio and the silver houses are wonderful. the money that comes with this game looks different from any other Monopoly game and the look of it makes it look more royal. The banker's drawer is a nice touch to this game and it really makes people want to be the banker in a game of Monopoly. The tokens look wonderful! I put a token from this game next to a token from the Deluxe Edition and the real gold of the Franklin Mint looks much better than the painted gold of the Deluxe edition.

I just have to say that if your a person who collects Monopoly games then you need to have this game is your collection.

I grew up Monopoly and had the orginal collectors edition from the Franklin Mint. I order this edition for a Birthday present last year. We finally go and open the game and saw we were shorchanged houses, hotels, and token pieces. Anyone else may have not notice but again I had the orginal. This seller was extremely shady and underhanded and there's nothing I can do. WATCH OUT!!

The seller was nice, kind and friendly.I love monopoly and is my favorite game of all times.

I like the game but I didn't like the price. I found that it was too much money and I shouldn't buy it again.

and also it was waste of money because now I don't have anybody to play it with.

But thank you for the game anyway.

Monopoly, of course, is a classic and so the fun and education value are always there. Unfortunately the disclosure on the condition of this item was not very good and it arrived with an off smell and soiled felt and disintegrated plastic tray in the drawer. it looked like the result of years of mouse infestation because there were wear marks form teeth along some of the wood and in the plastic tray. All the pieces seem to be there, however.

Little Tikes Mudpie Kitchen

Little Tikes Mudpie KitchenIf you have toddlers you MUST BUY THIS TOY!!!! This is seriously one of the greatest toys on the planet. My only suggestion is that you go out and buy a bag of top soil or play sand so you know what your kids are making mud pies out of. Fill it with water, give them a pile of dirt and grab your camera because it's going to be fantastic. It's hilarious on so many levels. I have to pull my toddlers away from this kicking and screaming every time. The minute the back door is open they are back at it again dancing around for me to fill it up. My biggest disappointment is that I didn't invent this myself.

I bought the Mudpie kitchen to replace our Step 2 kitchen sink which never worked properly. This product, unlike the Step 2 product, is a keeper! My girls, ages 2 and 6 both love it.The water tank hold lots of water and it is easily dispensed by pushing down on the red hand pump.Even my two year old can make the water come out.The mixer is very cute and the handle on it also turns easily. We are going to be making a lot of mudpies this summer. Thanks Little Tikes!

Let's just say that my review of this toy is very different than my kids review would be.They loved it and had a great time playing with it.They were about 2 and 4 when we bought this and both got plenty of fun out of it, for about 2 days.If the thing would have held up, they would still be loving it.But it is too cheaply made and as many have mentioned, the water faucet pump jams up way too easily.I had read the bad reviews about that and tried very hard to keep that pump clean of sand/dirt but its impossible with young kids.I set it up right next to the hose so I could try to keep it clean, and cleaned it good after each use.But it was a losing battle. They got frustrated when the pump stopped working.I thought I could loosen it up for them (I'm 6'4, 240 lbs) but I could barely get it to move.Even after taking it apart as much as possible and giving it a good cleansing, it was just barely functional. We still have it and it gets used occasionally but only for a very brief time until they get frustrated. If it was half the price, I probably wouldn't have minded the short life span.

I have bought many Little Tykes products and found general satisfaction with their stability and creativity.I was the director of a large preschool, and all the toys got really played with, over and over. But this one, bought for a grandchild, was poor quality. The toy was greeted with glee, but then the pump clogged up after 30 minutes of play, never to pump up and down again. The plug under the sink didn't fit properly so all the water leaked out.We finally glued it shut. The legs are not as stable as they should be, considering the activity of the pumping action. The egg beater on the top was a big hit. Also, children over 4 wouldn't find this interesting, mostly because it is so small.

Want Little Tikes Mudpie Kitchen Discount?

I bought this sink at the beginning of the summer for my two year old boys. The pump is too difficult for them to push down and after it was played with (to make mud pies...which is the intention of this toy)dirt became lodged around the pump handle making it impossible for ME to push down. The handle of the mixer has broken as well. Every kid that has come over here is immediately drawn to the sink but it just is not sturdy enough. So, great idea but poor construction. For use with just water I'm sure it would be fine. I wish I could find another product similar to this but well built.

Guidecraft Nordic Table and Chair Set

Guidecraft Nordic Table and Chair SetGreat little table for my son's artistic creations. The only complaint I have is regarding a missing screw for one of the chairs. My husband tried to fit one we have exisiting, which is working, but not exact.

We bought this set 3 years ago, for our son's 2nd birthday. We went with it mostly because it matched the kitchen set we purchased also made by Guidecraft, but also because we thought it would still be big enough as he grew. Our son does a lot on this table eat, do puzzles, color and craft projects. Crayons will some-what scrub off with a magic eraser, but not entirely. After a while the stools (in primary colors) need to be refinished. I tried to do this with spray paint to avoid brush marks, but the paint isn't wearing well and now they need to be completely sanded and done again. Most recently he's somehow ripped a screw out of one of the stools, to the point where I don't think it can't be fixed, as the wood splintered. Yes, he's a boy, but I only have 1 kid, so my recommendation is 1)if you want a set for long-term use and 2)if you can spend a bit more, I highly recommend buying a durable preschool set(around $200), which is what we're now considering doing!

Chicco Talking Garden Activity Table

Chicco Talking Garden Activity TableWe bought this toy for our 9months old daughter and she loves it. The music is great. But, the English version voice is very annoying and creepy. It will be so much better to use the children voice or something sweet voice. Not the creepy man's voice.

Anyone who is bilingual will appreciate knowing in advance that this toy does not teach proper Spanish. The alphabet is missing two Spanish letters, Ch and LL.It also pronounces the letter V as UV and W as UVV.

Also, the English spoken by the male voice calls a ladybug a "ladybuggED."

It is really strange. And, as previous reviewers have mentioned, the male voice is creepy. When the caterpillar says a poem about being a garden caterpillar, it sends chills down my spine. It sounds like the guy is high on drugs.

Finally, the flower does not stay attached. My daughter pulled up and it immediately came apart.I believe it is made this way.It will get lost any day now.

I will be returning this to the store.

Buy Chicco Talking Garden Activity Table Now

Two reasons made me returned this product:

1. The man's voice is very annoying. How hard it is to record a soft clear voice that does not pronounce "a bug" like "a bud" and "she" like "shu"?

2. The language selection buttons are on the top of the table and very noticeable. It's very easy for a baby to find them and switch. I'd love to let me child study a second language, but not until she can speak her ABCs in one language. I don't want my child to be confused when she just started learning her first words. The language selection should be the parents' choice, not the child's! Those buttons should be put under the table.

I don't know about the durability since I've returned it, so I gave it a neutral rating.

When my little gril started crawling and pulling up, I knew we were going to need an activity table.

When I started looking, I was pretty dissapointed with most of the options. Then, I found the Chicco Talking Garden Activity Table.

Pros:

The table has two modes: Music and ABCs. With the music option turned on, the buttons and activites prompt some fun musical tunes ranging from a singing Garden Caterpillar to a hive of chanting bees. With ABC mode turned on the responses from the table are more educational and involve colors, shapes, textures, the alphabet and numbers (in addition to some music still).

Multiple responses: Each button has multpile distinct responses. Pushing a button will yield one of 3 or 4 possible responses that are unique to that button.

Long reponses: Responses from the table range from short (one or two words) to up to 30 or seconds.

Multiple button "types": Not everything is a traditional push button. There is a slidy caterpillar, a watering can that pops up a flower when it is pressed, three large shape buttons in the center, a butterfly that is actually two buttons that change depending on how you have the wing "positioned", a bee hive with a ring of slidy bees, and a rolly ball with a mommy snail and a baby snail on it. In addition some of the buttons have different textures. So it is not just a table full of buttons for baby to spam.

Cons:

Language buttons too easy to access: Ok the spanish and english language options are buttons that are right on the top of the table where the baby can play with them and switch the language of the table. Repeatedly. It is bad enough that they are on the top, but they also happen to be the only buttons that light up AND they always play this cute little diddy when pressed... so they get pressed often. Not to mention, these buttons are large and look out of place with the rest of the garden theme. This is the primary reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5.

ONE removeable part: Parts that come off are just a bad idea on a toy like this. The little flower that grows in the garden pops up and off when the watering can is pushed enough. I have removed the flower and put it away for now. I will put it back when my daughter can appreciate it more (she is only 10 months now).

My grandson who is 8 mo. old, loves things that make sounds and music which he can manipulate. He also loves to stand, so I felt this would be the best of both worlds. The idea is great, but the toy has 3 flaws.1.It can tip over very easily, which it did the first time he used it and I was not close enough to put some weight on the top.Not a problem since I am never more then six inches away from him when he plays at my house.2. It has this flower that fell off the first time he pulled on it. 3.It lasted exactly 3 days until the voice and music stopped working, and created this horrible loud buzzing sound which scared him to death.I returned this item and will now look around for the same sort of toy that is made to last a little longer.

Home Depot Power Tools Workshop

Home Depot Power Tools WorkshopMY WIFE AND I BOUGHT THIS FOR OUR GRANDSONS 3&4 YEARS OLD. THEY HAVE PLAYED ENDLESSLY WITH IT. I WAS NERVOUS AT FIRST PURCHASE, BECAUSE I HAD READ SOME WEAK AND BAD REVIEWS. I GAVE IN AND BOUGHT ANYWAY. THE TOYS ARE A YEAR OLD AND STILL WORKING FINE....

Santa brought this to our 2 1/2 year old twins to replace a small wooden tool bench that just fell apart. This is MUCH nicer. It's a good size for the younger set (though my kids are towards the top of the growth charts) and yet does seem that it will grow with them for the next few years.

It comes with a ton of tools, many with lights and/or sounds. There are separate bits for the electric drill, safety goggles, non-power tools, stationary tools... Anything you could want, and possibly more!

It's a pretty big set-up, so be sure you have room for it. Also, it is made out of plastic, and the assembly is from bolts and nuts that go with the set itself, so it feels just slightly more flimsy. I don't have much doubt that it will stay together, but don't expect metal bolts to keep it in place.

My boys are playing with it almost as much as their new train the only thing they actually asked for and so I consider it a success!

My boys, ages 4 and 2, got this from their grandparents for Christmas. On the plus side: the boys really play together (pretending to work together) for quite awhile with it, there are lots of accessories included (power tools, hand tools, goggles) along with additional items you can get separately. On the minus side, the bench itself is not very sturdy being just thin pieces of plastic (not nearly as sturdy as a Little Tykes item), and the directions included were terrible. There were no written instructions, just pictures that were small and difficult to figure out.

Overall the boys love it, and they haven't destroyed it yet. However I'm glad someone else bought it for them.

My husband insisted we buy this toy for my daughter's 3rd birthday. It was the last gift she opened and the hit of her party. She loves playing with all the power tools and pretending she's fixing things. She received many different gifts for her birthday but this one is definitely her favorite.I just wish this toy would come with more play blocks of wood for cutting and drilling with the tools.

The Home Depot Work Bench delights our 3-year old grandson. The fun begins with actually assembling the workbench, using the tools that come with it.The toy and all the tools are sturdy enough to withstand light abuse typical of a 3-year old. Proper pressure is necessary for the battery operated tools to work and this didn't take long for him to master. Now when something around the house doesn't work he says "I'll fix it" or "I think it needs new batteries!"

LEGO Duplo Thomas & Friends - Thomas Load and Carry Train Set

LEGO Duplo Thomas & Friends - Thomas Load and Carry Train SetThe Thomas set comes with 16 pieces of track, while most of the other train and accessory packs only come with a few pieces. You have to either start with this set, or buy the more expensive all inclusive set, which is at least double this one in price, but if you were to get this one and all the add on sets, the large set would save you some cash, and net you a lot of track.

I bought this set and then found come Duplo City train track packs, which came with 6 more pieces of straight track.I believe all of the track in this set is curved, so getting the straight add-on packs gives you a lot of track layout options (the circle this set makes is pretty small). My son enjoys building and rebuilding the station pieces, but his favorite is laying out the track.I think the price I paid for this set and two track packs was perfect, and it's just enough pieces to keep track of them.He only likes to play with Thomas (even though this set does come with two trains), so I don't really need the extra trains and buildings, as it's just more clutter around the house!

Overall, anyone with children who love trains should enjoy this set. Also, it teaches them about building, as even the trains need to put togther. We have the wooden Thomas table and train set, but he still likes this one and spends a lot of time playing with it, so I wouldn't hesitate buying this if you think the wooden set is enough.Kids can never have too many train sets!!!

Summary:

Top quality product from Lego as you have come to expect, allowing for hours and hours of fun (for the kids and parents) but be prepared to buy the other sets and extra tracks.

My Story:

My son was 18 months when I was looking for some sort of train set. I came across this really by chance at a store as I did not realise Lego made a Duplo series train set. Was initially looking at the wooden Thomas the tank engine sets, but those were incredibly expensive. In anycase, I bought this set first as a "tester" to see if my son would like it and also to test the durability of the toy. Passed with flying colours on both accounts.

The box itself is reasonably sized, but mostly filled with air. The Duplo parts are quite chunky. It comes with 1 very thin instruction manual. My initial impression of the tracks were that they were flimsy and didn't connect or stay connected together very well, but I quickly learned that they were pretty robust and the connection mechanisms were perfect for those with developing motor skills. They join together with a jigsaw type link. Thomas comes in 4 parts, the base with the wheels, his face, body and top cover of the body. Again very easy to assemble, great for the learning ones. There are quite few other bits like the train station, signal lights and loading tank.

The assembled set is a reasonable size (23" x 35" or 60 x 90cm) and fitted nicely on my son's play table. But as soon as I expanded the set with the other series and tracks, it has to be spread all over the floor. As a note, 6 curved tracks make a semi circle with a diameter of 23" or 60cm. The tracks work much better on a hard surface. If you put the tracks on carpet they do have a tendency of coming disconnected. The trains stay on the tracks very well (provided the tracks are on a hard surface) and don't often derail. Remember this set is a manual push train set. You can get the motorised 4.5V motorised train set which is also compatible, so that may be a great expansion option for when the kids are older.

Although it says its for 2-5 year, from a parts point of view it is safe as there are really no small parts to really choke on. When I first got it my son just loves to play with Thomas, taking the tracks and the various buildings apart, but after about a week or so he realised that the tracks needs to stay together and he leaves it alone now. After about 2 weeks or so he started putting the tracks together, shortly there after he started to put the Duplo brick pieces together. It will be a while before he actually assembles the tracks and bricks as it is suppose to but regardless, since we got the set, pretty much all his other toys are now collecting dust. I hope to get several years of play with this toy given the expandability and flexibility. Probably store it for a little while and bring it back out, especially during those cold winter months.

Recommendations:

If you are planning to get the extras, I recommend buying some sort of storage containers as they do take up some room. On the note of extras, if you are like me you will be wondering about what expansion options you can get. I have spent many hours researching this so here it a quick low down to save you some time. Firstly there are several of Thomas's friends available. These include Harold the Helicopter (3300), Cargo-Loading Cranky (3301), Percy at the Water Tower (5556), James at Knapford Station (5552) and Toby at Wellsworth (5555, although this doesn't seem to be available anymore in the US). 3 additional friends have just been released. This includes Gordon Express (3354), Spencer and Sir Topham Hatt (3353) and Salty the Dockyard Diesel (3352).

Secondly in terms of track expansion options there are several of these and certainly worth while additions to the already cool set. These are currently available: curved track (6 pack) (2735), straight track (6 pack) (2734), a bridge (3774), a level crossing (3773), and switching tracks (3775).

Thirdly, if you have been looking at the other Lego Duplo train sets (non-Thomas related) you would have noticed that the "Train Starter Set (3771)" has a Cross track (2737). You will then wonder, how can I buy the cross track? Well you can't, not new anymore anyway. This is where the research led me to a couple of things. 1, that there is an unofficial Lego Marketplace where you can find these and other discontinued Lego Duplo train parts. And 2, there use to be the Lego Duplo Intelli-Train series. This was an "intelligent" motorised series of train sets released in 2002 which has since been discontinued. Very cool indeed (as they get older). Just do a search on this to find out more. In any case over the years the Duplo Train series have had a number of supplemental items which we can no longer get, like the Intelli-Train Tunnel (3334) or the Stop/Start Rail (5027) to name a couple.

Finally, just a quick comment with regards to train track layouts. As the number of tracks expand the kids will have a great time working those imagination to come up with innovative and creative track layouts. For the parents, if you are thinking that you can just find example layouts on the internet, don't hold your breath. This will be tough. You will have to use your imagination along with your kids.

One day I realized that my baby is now a toddler and his toys are all...well baby toys!I browsed the toy aisles for the perfect, age apporpriate replacements hating to spend more money on more plastic, yet desperate for anything that will engage him for at least 15 minutes and keep him STILL so I can put clothes away, vacuum, sometimes just SIT and play. This does it!

Reliable duplo/lego quality.Non frustrating because the pieces actually stay together.Easy assembly.Of course my little guy is 22 months so I still have to do the majority of the assembly.I did get this for him at age 19 months and by now he has caught on as to how to put the track together. He tries to put the cars together but still needs my help to lock the pieces in place.

I am constantly amazed at how much toddlers pick up by watching grownups, so keep putting this back together while your little one is present.Luca does love to disassemble the track and it is a challange keeping it together however, over the last month, persistence has paid off and he has figured out how to re-assenmble his little messes. The assembly is easy enough for him to get it on his own!

These chunky toys accomomodate busy little toddler handsperfectly.

This particular set comes with everything necessary for your toddler to "get to work".This set has just enough to busy your toddler without being overwhelming! This set has satisfied my little guy (although I did buy him the Toby (he is just so cute) set too.

My older boys take Tae Kwan Do every night and this set is a staple in the karate bag.It definately keeps the younger .0brothers and sisters busy and off the MATS.

Other add-ons are available but right now, this set, and the Toby have been just enough!

The price sems high for the seemingly few pieces.I am the first to admit it is difficult to commit to a 25$ purchase, but as with Lego/Duplo products, the quality and play/learning value add greatly to the plastic parts making it an excellent purchase!

GREAT GRANDPARENT GIFT! Even a perfect toy to keep at Grandparents house!

Bello Games New York, Deluxe Pool Table EXTRA LARGE 44"

Bello Games New York, Deluxe Pool Table EXTRA LARGE 44'My wife and I love pool but being a military family and having to move every few years makes having a full-size table pretty much an impossibility. I took a bit of a gamble on this one hoping it would bring some of the fun of pool into our home and it exceeded my hopes.

I was worried something bulky like this would be damaged in shipping but it was well packaged and arrived nearly perfect, with only one small cosmetic ding that I didn't even spot on first inspection. There's really no setup or assembly required; just unpack it, unfold the legs and you're good to go. The table feels fairly heavy for its size (certainly much heavier than a card table) and feels reasonably solid when we were playing.

The game play was better than expected. The felt seems to have the appropriate amount of resistance for the scale of things. Everything is miniature as compared to a real table of course, but it was still just as much fun for casual players like us.

The small amount of enjoyment lost by the fact that this table is smaller than a real table is more than made up for by the fact that we have it in our home and can play any time the mood strikes. Add to that the fact that the legs fold up and we can easily store the table out of the way when not in use and we are a very happy pool-playing family.

My Grand children love it!!! It is sturdy and stores easily, when they are not here. Their parents enjoyed teaching them the game of pool.

VTech - Write And Learn Touch Tablet

VTech - Write And Learn Touch TabletFirst, I taught PreK through 3rd grade for 10 years prior to being a mom... with that said: DO NOT BUY THIS TOY if you want your child to learn good writing habits! Seriously, please read this before you consider buying it!

I mistakenly bought this for my own 2-3year old son without thoroughly checking out its full features. Although he really does like it, it's going back! The positibve benefits do not outweigh the negatives in terms of educational/instructional value.

PROS:

-encourages tracing with a pen stylus or finger touch on the screen

-includes a three sided, triangular pen, which is helpful to help start a correct early pen/pencil grasp

-easy to see screen, step by step instructions to form shapes, lower case and upper case letters (NOTE: SEE CONS BELOW regarding odd letter formation directions and modeling!)

-does engage my son (he keeps it in the bathroom as a special potty toy while he's busy "working", never gets old, will cry when it's gone)

-so far durable over several months of use and some accidental drops on hard tile floor and grabbing it by the stylus string

-has a free draw feature & a "make the picture dance/wiggle/jump" feature that moves your creation up and down a bit after drawing

--continuously positive praise for all attempts of writing/scribbling/drawing

-encourages shape and letter identification, plus beginning words that start with the corresponding letter

CONS:

-terrible letter formation modeling (make two lines down, then connect them in the middle to make a capital M!? NO way! Just one example. Several more!)

-child will have to unlearn bad habits and relearn properly when faced with school instruction, no matter what printing method is taught--every teacher from every district I've talked about this with agrees!

-loud volume, even when adjusted to lowest setting

-includes shapes, upper & lower case letters, no numbers (do they need to keep it separate to make more $ and force you to buy a different game toy?!)

-no tracking or way to self check w/ only positive praise (my son can color the entire screen dark and it says "great job!")

-absolutely no correlation connecting the lower case letters with the upper case letters, even though they are the same button, the two functions are entirely different and do not come together to help build this matchup for young learners.

Not recommended. Still looking for a better substitute! Do let me know if you happen to know of one, please. Thanks!!

My son is 3 1/2. He has no attention span and likes things that involve running, jumping, etc. It is difficult to get him to do anything that involves little physical movement. However, he seems to like this toy. We have had it about a 3 days and this is my take on it.

Pros:

* It has both capital and lower case letters

* The writing surface is easy to use and accurate

* It tell my son he has done a great job when he actually traces the letter correctly. If he does a poor job on the letter and hits the check to say his is done, it asks him to retry tracing the letter.

* It seems durable and has already taken a tumble out of the van door into a puddle. It is working fine.

* It has a shape tracing and free draw activity. There is also a hiding letter game which is good.

* you can turn down the volume.

Cons: Just a few...

* I wish that it started in the capital letter activity instead of requiring the child to select it.

* I wish that they had the same device but added a number activity to it

* The little pen is a bit thick for my son

* I wish that it did not say "see ya" when it was turned off. My son has started saying that which is annoying and he keeps turning it on and off just to hear the "see ya."It really is not the game's fault he knows how to push my buttons ;) However, I do not like slang so I would have preferred something like "I'll see you later" or "until next time"

I purchased the leap frog letter learning tablet before purchasing this one and was very disappointed. This letter tablet is far superior. The leap frog tablet uses a series of lights under the screen that light up and the child traces the dots, leaving a irregular pattern on many letters. In my opinion this teaches the child to make the shape of the letter wrong. This vtech tablet has the letters shaped correctly, so the child learns to write the letter correctly. This one fact was so important that I got rid of the leap frog and gave my daughter the vtech for Christmas. She loves it, spends so much time learning her letters. There are some child game systems out there that offer letter tracing as a part of the system, but I found this a better option for my daughter because I wanted her to focus on the letter writing and not be distracted by the other games.

i just bought this yesterday at walmart and my son 2 1/2 loves it he quickly learned to trace the letters he just recently learned most of his alphabet so he gets excited that he recognizes them and holds his attention for a long time, which is very hard at this age another idea to add are tracing workbooks or free printables online.I will say i was already going to buy the leapfrog version but saw this one and saw no reviews so i went to walmart to try both of them out im so glad i did this one is far better in my opinion, sometimes its better to try at store and specially if its approved from your loved one :). Remember if your son/daughter are not interested wait a couple months and he/she will surprise you and start using it, speak for everything in general I know how hard we as parents want our children to learn but they know when they are ready.

By the way rated in durability 4 stars because i've had it for two days only so we'll see but if you've had or have any vtech toys you know that are long lasting!

My son played with this at his cousins house and seemed to really like it.His aunt highly recommended it as her girls loved it.So we bought it and my 3 year old and 5 year old use it a lot.I'd say 3 years is about the age for this toy.I find it above average in the educational department as well, it really is very good at teaching him how to write his letters. There are quite a few different play modes, but we have only used one. It's very well constructed and should last a long time.

iPong Original Table Tennis Training Robot

iPong Original Table Tennis Training Robot ()1) As with the other reviews, I too had trouble lining up the parts to connect them. I was trying to be careful, because it seemed that it would easy enough to break off any of the pieces that hold it together, then how do you connect it? Also, I feel that if you tried assemble & disassemble between uses, then you greatly increase of wearing down the connection pieces and thus snapping off a key piece of plastic. Thus plan to keep this assembled

2)Part of the product description says, "Sharpen your skills without need for a training partner." It's true you won't need a training partner, but you will need a 2nd person to help you run the thing. The second you turn it one it starts firing balls. No delay.

3) You get an AC adapter with something like a 4ft cord. Thus you better have an extension cord handy.

4) For the price they should have thrown in at least 50 one-star balls. . .anything to practice with. I was looking for the big bold letters that said "Balls Not Included". This would have been a good laugh if they had this on the packaging somewhere too.

5) Any kinda of device with dials gets me worried, but I have to say that the knobs felt firm and turned easy enough.

6) Yes, the motor is a bit loud, but big deal. It's a sports tool after all.

7) Running a bunch of balls through it, the machine seemed pretty consistent. About 5% of the balls would fly into the net

OVERALL: This product is the basic device to help someone practice. I took this to work and my co-worker who has no forehand skills to speak of was excited to try it out, as it could keep throwing balls to the same side and help him practice.

Is it worth the cost? That's for you to decide, considering it's all "manual" other than the actuall ball launching and you're paying for a motor surrounded by questionable plastic parts.

()I must agree with the other reviewers here: the price of this product is not justifiable.

The plain, brown cardboard-box (with no print on it what-so-ever) inspires little confidence. It would be an awkward gift, to say the least (considering it looks a bit like something Ted Kaczynski would mail). Likewise, the black-and-white leaflet (a single, folded page) provides sparse information about this pricey little toy. (I guess I expected a glossy little insert from the popular Joola company ... not something made at their local Kinkos). Now, I will admit that the "Training Buddy" is packaged VERY well. The polystyrene hugs the components tightly ... I can assure you, this item WILL reach you in mint condition (and, to be generous, maybe this this where Joola invested their money ... and who can argue with that?)

Assembly was easy; however, the flimsy plastic made me a bit concerned I was going to snap the "Training Buddy" into tiny, little pieces. (And, if you have children, you may want to take care ... I do not believe this product can survive any type of accident). Likewise, I was unprepared for the excessive noise. But, that's fine because where else am I going to find a product like this? And, admittedly, the super short cord meant I had to make a mid-week run to Wal-Mart for an extension. *sigh*

Here's the kicker ... ping-pong balls are not included. For $150.00, one would imagine those bright-orange balls would be stowed in the box (or at least otherwise noted BOLDLY in the description). Why even show the balls if they aren't included? That trip to Wal-Mart was more expensive than I care to admit. Perhaps I'd forgive Joola ... but their company actually MAKES ping-pong balls. They could include them at little cost to their business. (And I am not the only reviewer irked by this strange omission).

Yes, the "Training Buddy" does work (almost all of the time). But, I guess I'd rather just flip-up the other end of my table old-school style (that's how I've practiced for fifteen years ... and I don't have to pick-up one-hundred balls when I'm finished). Between the noise, the extension cord, the extra balls, the occasional "serve" into the net, and the clean-up ... well, it's just not worth the trouble or expense.

Maybe if this were $49.99, I could endorse it. But, for nearly triple?! Certainly not. Wait for Joola to make some improvements to the "Training Buddy." In the meantime, just flip-up that table and keep practicing:)

()The iPong sits on the ping pong table and sends servers across the table perfect almost every time. Maybe 1 or 2 in a 100 misfires short. I'd say that's about as good as you get. I've never seen a baseball, tennis ball, or football thrower shoot 100% all the time.

The top spin, heavy top spin, and down-spin worked flawlessly for me. The only thing I would have liked to see is a delay on the first ball, since most of the time anyone uses this they will not have someone there to turn it on. You can slow down the serve speed so you won't miss too many balls on your way back to your side of the table after turning it on(1-2 balls missed).

There is no side spin option in case you are wondering.

()This is my second time writing this review because the last version disappeared (was pulled?).

I agree with just about everything that has been said. It arrived in a plain box, with a photocopied manual and "rough" mis-matched parts (and harder than it needed to be assembly).

It made me want to give it one star right then like some reviewers, but I decided to stick it out for a few months before writing this review. In that time my overall opinion improved but more importantly, I think I got over the shock of the initial un-boxing. (I think if all reviewers had done the same it would be an average of at least 3 stars--which in Amazon's world means it is "ok".)

But it isn't a 4 or 5 for me because I think to justify the price it needs a delay (for the first ball), it needs a remote control (to start/stop the balls and change settings) and it just needs to have its build quality improved overall. I don't think it needs to include balls with it, but make sure everything is clear about them NOT being included.

But it is functional, you can "stop" when you run out of balls and it does a decent job of shooting the balls toward you making for a better solo play time for table tennis. I might wait for a few improvements or just understand that you might be at least initially underwhelmed with the product.

()I was pretty excited about this table tennis trainer. However, when it arrived (plain, unadulterated box sans pretty marketing pictures) it went downhill fast. I think I am being generous with 2 stars (only because it does actually spit balls out once you get the thing assembled).

Basically, it is a construction NIGHTMARE! You need to assemble the 2 cones and to the middle section, which seems easy enough except that the plastic is really thin and the tabs did not align properly. One section actually popped apart at the seams when I was trying to assemble it and cut right through my finger like it was butter resulting in a pretty deep gash. I almost gave up at that point, but I came back to it and did eventually get it put together (literally the plastic bent as I tried to get the pieces to line up). I could not see giving it as a gift presentation is awful and quality is abysmal.

It is easy to use once it is assembled, but as cheaply as it is made, I am not sure it will hold up it is definitely NOT worth the price unless you line your shoes with money. Then, do what you want.

Bottom line: Poor quality construction make this a loser. Pay a neighborhood kid to chuck balls at you instead.

Update: A representative for the product commented in my review regarding the safety and packaging. The packaging is promised to be beautiful. He also states that assembly will be eased. I hope so because after a week I still have a nasty gash in my finger.

My 3 year old son loves Thomas the Tank Engine, which has inspired his room theme. We were considering purchasing a Thomas lamp, but thought he would outgrow it. So, we decided to get this lamp and it is absolutely beautiful! It is hand painted, well made, and not too fragile that my son cannot touch it. He LOVES his lamp! The night light is a great touch. He will have this lamp for years to come.

Monopoly Nostalgia

Monopoly NostalgiaI love this set. It is modeled after one of the original Monopoly set designs (there were only a couple of other designs before this one since Monopoly was introduced) and it is very fun to look over everything and see the differences in the pieces and the board compared to today's version. I really wish it was bi-folding like the Classic Monopoly set, these boards that fold in 4 seem flimsy and there are too many creases and a huge cut to the center of the board to achieve the smaller folding size. This is one of the Hasbro Nostalgia sets, and they all come in the same size wooden box for convenient storage so I suppose hat was done for that reason, and it is not enough to affect my rating. His is an awesome set to have for any Monopoly collection, or anyone interested in vintage replicas.

Playing Monopoly with London landmarks brings back past vacations there, and brings back memories. In contrast, I have only once been to Atlantic City (where the original game was based), and wasn't interested in the least in revisiting it. But a game is more than reminiscence; it should be fun and well-made. And this one holds up. The square wood case is durable and handy, with built-in cash holders. One disappointment was the cash: it seemed very small in size and the paper was pretty thin. I was hoping for some nostalgic paper money.

As far as Monopoly sets go, I can see keeping this one for life. The box is solidly constructed and the game partsitself is well made. I also like that the board is a bit smaller than normal the basic Monopoly board is larger than necessary in my opinion. The one negative is that the board folds in four and so it seems a little more prone to damage. However, overall, this is a great set.

Zombie Boss with Chainsaw Chronoscope Miniature Figures by Reaper Miniatures

Zombie Boss with Chainsaw Chronoscope Miniature Figures by Reaper MiniaturesI was so excited when I saw that this product had "Zombies met Gears of War" (chainsaw). Love the idea but the product isn't as detailed as the picture shown. Understandable because it's a small figure. We had to complain to manufacturer to send us a new base because the first one was too small to fit the Zombie in. They told us to use an exacto knife on the zombie. After an angry complaint, they sent us a better one. Both bases were not the one in the picture, they were round and black. We're using it as a big boss in our ZOmbies board game. An ok buy.

Fisher-Price Loving Family Grand Dollhouse

Fisher-Price Loving Family Grand DollhouseAfter researching many dollhouses in the internet, I decided on purchasing this one as my daughter's first dollhouse. Although I really liked some other houses that were made of wood, they were too expensive. I thought this was a better buy to see if she would get into playing with dollhouses seriously.

Keep in mind that there is a bit of assembly when you receive the box The house is together, but you have to put all of the exterior trim on and the staircase.

My main disappointment with the house is that I thought it should have come with more furniture to start. It only came with the basic family (mom, dad & twin babies), a kitchen table set with 2 chairs & 2 booster seats.Thank goodness I wound up buying the extra furniture sets (bathroom, parents' bedroom, nursery & mini van). For the price, i think they should have at least included the kitchen appliances.

Also, I found that one of the folding doors in the back does not readily latch and keeps popping open when transporting the house. And the staircase gets in the way it blocks 1/2 of the first floor! (I just leave this loose so it can be taken out easily)

Finally, why didn't Fisher-Price put in a doorbell that makes sound?! That is one of the most requested items on the house from my daughter. She would love to have a doorbell!

Oervall, this is a very durable, quality product from Fisher-Price and I think it is an excellent 1st doll house for this price range.

My parents bought this for our daughter (who will be 3 in February) for Christmas. It was love at first sight! All the room sets, which are purchased separately, have A LOT of realistic detail to keep my daughter playing independently for long periods of time. Although the house is big, it folds up neatly and even stores some pieces inside.

Depending on where you purchase the house, you get different bonus furniture (we got BBQ, picnic table, swingset, slide, casual dining table set). However, all houses come with mom & dad and, most importantly, twin boy & girl.

After seeing the prices of the room sets, I suggest you shop at Wlmrt to get a much better deal. The room sets my daughter likes most are:

living room (has "working" TV...batteries included)

bathroom

nursery (changing table plays music, includesdouble cribs, etc. for twins)

home office

I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS HOUSE!

This was a gift for xmas for my 2yr old daughter. it was brand new purchased at toys r us. All of the furniture and dolls advertised on the box to be included were not! The 3rd floor balcony also was not included in the box. Luckly we had purchased a few accesory sets to get started or we would of had a very disapointed little girl!

I called FP and they said they would send out the pieces, instead they sent 2 babies and an awning. I called again and they said they no longer have the balcony or furniture. My daughter loves her house and is not aware that the balcony is missing since it was never there to begin with but I am very disappointed with the situation, I basicly purchased her a shell of a house and were stuck with it.

We made the best of it and still play, the house is loved by my little girl, she plays with it every day thats why I gave it high star ratings.

Missing parts aside, my complaint with the actual functions of the house is that there is no door handle inside to close the door, that makes it difficult to be the one answering the door, but visitors come over again and again, and she manages to let them in and out, even if her fingers get stuck between the door frame and the door.
