I got this for my daughter at 8 months and 6 months later she still plays with it everyday.We saw a benefit immediately when she used it for standing.We really feel it helped her with leg coordination and balance.

This toy is not the most stable when leaned against.We keep it diagnol in a corner so that it can't tip over.This toy has fallen over and backwards on top of our daughter.No harm done, but it does scare her.Even now, if not up against something, she easily pushes it over.

My daughter still finds new ways for this toy to entertain her.She loves the music, she loves putting the balls down the slide, she's had phases where she HAS to flip the little "change-mode" book, or she must push down the frog.

I would recommend buying this at 6-10 months and will last a loooong time.I don't see how someone could be disappointed with this toy.It is well worth the money for the hours and hours of "entertainment" (a.k.a. peace and quiet...sort of)!

My son loves this toy, and has since about five months.I agree that it can be a little unstable, but at one now he doesn't have a problem with that and loves it still.You should note that there is a recall on this because several children have gotten a bruise by putting their arm in the ball shoot.I got the shoot topper from LeapFrog offered to correct the problem (no problem when I called; arrived quickly), however, once you put it on the ball shoot doesn't work.We haven't put it on since he loves dropping the ball in the shoot so much; we just keep an eye on him.I've never seen him try to put his hand or arm in there.

We were skeptical of this toy when we first got it; wanted to send it back, in fact. But it grew on us, and our 6-month-old daughter. Now she's 13 months and still spends some time with it every day. Its versatility makes it the anchor of our growing stash of toys.

Part of the reason we were disappointed at first, though, was that it's rather limited unless you attach the four legs. The toy's literature claims it can be fun when the "keyboard" portion is just sitting on the floor, for babies who can't yet sit up on their own, but certain functions (like the small letters of the alphabet) don't operate without the legs. Once our daughter was able to sit up and we put the legs on, we found a huge variety of songs, recorded rhymes, and noises. The computer in this toy is amazing. The other day it said something we hadn't even heard before.

Someone else wrote that the toy didn't announce the color of each of the three balls once they're tossed down the chute. The only problem we've had is that it occasionally gets it wrong, but the kid doesn't notice (I wouldn't be relying on this to teach your child numbers and letters anyway).

The "learning playground" function is definitely quieter. When the "musical playground" bit gets going, there's a constant beat, and that gets old. But this is compensated by the five levers beneath the number keys. Touch them and you get different kinds of harmonicas. This is just an ingenious toy.

A similar toy from Leap Frog is the "Learn & Groove Musical Table," which is square-shaped. A friend has one of these, and it might even be superior to the Playground. It seems less likely to tip over, and unlike the Playground, can be enjoyed equally from all sides.

My son loves this toy.We got it for him when he started pulling up on things and he loved all the sounds and the music.He figured out the balls right away and that keeps him busy for a long time.He just discovered the keys underneath play the harmonica music.He will hit them and smile while they make music.I can see that this will grow with him as well.Once he is walking and no longer needs the table for stability, he will still be able to use it for letters and numbers.I found this online at another web-site, and went to several stores to try and see it in person.Couldn't find it, but was pleasantly surprised to find it here for less than the other site and with free shipping.This is a great toy.As other reviews noted, it does tend to slip on hard surfaces, but we just put some "grippy" tape on the bottom and that seemed to fit it.Other than that we are delighted.

Can You Imagine Lumin Disk 6" Battery Operated, Green

Received and opened the box, removed the disk unit, power cable, and instructions.It arrived undamaged.The disk is smaller than expected, but still as specified in product details.Don't think of this as a plate, think of it more like a salad plate...or a tea saucer.The glass panel disk is 6" side to side (the width of a dollar bill), but as you notice in the picture there is a 1/2"'ish border all the way around, making the electric surface only about 5" across much smaller than I envisioned.

There is a battery compartment, or you can plug it in to the AC outlet provided.Even though the front panel is thick glass and feels durable, the back housing is plastic and looks/feels much less sturdy.The rear of the unit has a notch for wall mounting.The small black switch on the side has 3 settings; Sound/Off/On.In SOUND mode the disk will flash with sounds.To test it, I placed it next to a small radio and got no lights.However when my wife started talking (about 5 feet from the unit) it picked up her voice.I was standing right next to the unit talking, and it seemed to not pick up my voice very well.Conclusion: this thing likes chicks better than dudes.

While in the ON setting, it continuously flashed in the typical random patterns.It is a very bright and busy display, and the surface does respond to touch.Later that evening, I took it to my pitch-black garage (see my other review of lasers) and it was extremely bright...I mean you could probably read a book with this thing."Supah Bri-eeeet!"

This will be a great addition to my Halloween display of power panels and toxic pumps.

Very happy with this product.My son uses it every night as his night light.His friends are crazy about it too.Only thing to know is that the disk part is made of glass so it wouldn't be appropriate for younger kids.

I purchased three Lumin Disks for use as part of a prop for the stage musical "Li'l Abner". They were used at the top of three "radio towers" on a 6 ft diameter "globe", and plugged into an NSI/Leviton relay box connected to my stage lighting controller. As three "news reporters" were spotlighted in turn, the Lumin Disks were lit to correspond with the transmission "location" of the reporter (USA, Russia, Japan) on the globe. The visual effect was exactly as I had envisioned, and couldn't have looked better.

The Lumin Disk is either wall-wart powered, or battery powered, and works continuously, or is sound-activated. I can see using them in future stage props, set around a dance floor as an easy to use, trouble-free lighting effect, or anywhere just to look cool.

This is an entertaining product but it does have an effect on your electronics.I placed mine near my backlight keyboard.For some reason it would cause the keys to go dark every time I switched it on.Suffice to say I moved it from there and no problem, but you have got to wonderif it affects a keyboard that way what else is it affecting?

Edu Value: 3 uh, well I guess you can see how electricity goes to "ground" when you place your fingers on it, if that is its edu value

Durable: 4 made of glass so obviously you can't drop it folks, but it will take a bump or two while sitting on a stable platform, i.e. table, nightstand, etc.

Overall: 5 because it serves its advertised and intended purpose well

Fisher-Price Song and Story Learning Chair

I got this for my sons 1st birthday and okay I gave it to him before his actual birthday and so glad I did. This is the "new" improved song & story chair and so happy with it. My son just loves it. He sits in it and hits the light to hear songs or the story, he stands behind it and rocks to the tunes. This has to be the best chair ever.

A few years ago, I purchased this chair for a friend's one year old after seeing how much my own granddaughter loved it.I paid approximately $40 for the chair.Today, I went online to see where I could purchase another as a gift for an upcoming first birthday and almost fell off my chair when I saw what this company is charging for that same chair $160.00.It is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen and you have to be crazy to spend that much for it.It's plastic, not gold!!What a rip.Obviously, I won't be purchasing this as a gift anytime soon.

There's no doubt at all that this Song & Story Learning Chair is cute, educational, fun for toddlers, and worth buying; however, the chair has serious -no, egregious -stability issues that come from a design flaw. The chair is not properly weighted or designed: it flips up and over when my toddler gets up from the chair as he touches anywhere on the storybook or table area. The chair tips over far too easily for its targeted age range, and this *is* a serious design flaw and problem for parents. Toy designers know that safety is the number issue, and I cannot believe that Fisher-Pricedid not follow through and correct this second iteration of its musical chair.

I bought this for my son when he was old enough to sit up on his own and pull himself up...I would say, about 6 months. He has played with it EVERY SINGLE day since then. Now, he is 13 months and still loves the heck out of it!! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from us!

As for any "mechanical" issues or anything like that, we have had NO problems whatsoever with it. We just put it together, according to the directions, slapped in some batteries, and TA-DA!!! Super easy to put together!

I bought this for my seven month old daughter from Craigslist and she just adores it.I can not get her off of it.She likes to sit sideways in it and climb all around it.I put thick couch pillows behind and on the side of the chair to avoid it tipping over.My daughter likes every single thing about this chair.She likes to play with the pages, clock, lamp and the seat of the chair, all of which sing and talk.This toy keeps my daughter busy and engaged.She is 27 inches long and fits perfectly in it.Be careful when buying this product used as it had a recall.The recall included a fix for the chair which is an extra piece that is screwed on toward the back of the chair to avoid baby from getting caught between the table and back of chair.

V-TECH SIT TO STAND PINK ACTIVITY WALKER

This toy is so UNsafe I don't even know where to begin...

When you have this toy in the STAND/Locked position it is the most unstable toy ever.

*If they are sitting and pull themselves up by grabbing on the purple handle, sometimes they will be successful and be standing and other times they will pull the whole thing right into their head/face.

*If they are standing, if they loose their balance at all this provides NO stability for them to correct themselves "and down will fall baby, Vtech Walker and all"

*If they are standing and holding onto this if they pull back for whatever reason they will fall straight back onto their head(like when a tree falls) and sometimes they will let go of the walker as they are falling but other times they will still be holding onto the walker as they fall and hit their head and then get a double whammy when this toy comes falling into them as well.

*The bottom back bar is quite inviting for little ones to stand on while they hold onto the top and this thing will fall quicker than you can blink an eye.

When you have this toy in the STAND/WALK position:

*If they are just standing there and lean forward or back in the slightest, this thing is going to roll so fast out from under your little one and they are going down again.

*If they put any weight into this thing at all this thing flies out from under them.

When you have this toy in the SIT position:

*The toy is not quite as unstable in this mode but if your little one is trying to pull themselves up at all...you guessed it, this thing will very often tip right over, either your little one will fall on top of this or it will fall on them or it will start to tip and your little one falls and hits their head on the way down.

When you have just the toy(not on the stand) I guess it is safe enough but then again if this is on the floor and they put weight onto it this is going to slide and it is hard plastic and they can hit their heads on it.

All of these are from personal experience with my twins & my best friends daughter. All 3 girls can pull themselves up very well & adult supervision was always right there. I only ever let my girls play with this if I am sitting right behind them so I can catch them but I usually have this toy put up because I don't like my daughters crying when they get hurt using this toy.

I recommend getting one of the learning tables, my girls have one and they love it, it is very stable. And look into another walker that is a heavier base and wont tip so easily. Read the reviews on the original one of these, I think it was a yellow color...most reviews say UNSTABLE.

We saw this at a local toy store while browsing and bought this on a whim because my 11 month old seemed to like pushing the buttons. After assembling this walker, I realized how unstable and potentially dangerous this can be. As you can see from the video, my daughter is able to pull herself up to standing but is still learning how to walk while holding onto objects. I have this leaning against our couch so that it doesn't tip over but you can see how easily the walker moves against her weight. With the locks on, the wheels don't move at all but if a child continues to push against it, the walker will tip over. Without the locks, this goes way too fast, even on a rug. Read the reviews for this toy in the nongender specific color and you'll also see many complaints about this being unstable. The only way I can see this walker being appropriate is for a child who is able to stand independently without holding on and is able to take a few steps on their own. We took this back to the local toy store.

My daughter loves this toy.We just got this yesterday for her 1st birthday.I hate that she loves this toy, because I am hoping to get the gift receipt to take it back.The "Mom of twins" review from September 14, 2009 giving it one star is accurate.We were right there supervising, watching her pull herself up to this toy in the standing/locked position, and she fell, and it fell on her.When we stood her to the toy, she liked playing with it just fine, but she's still unstable on her feet and tried to fall forward (my husband caught her).We watched the toy try to fall forward with her.She either would have fallen on top of it, or fallen to the side with it crashing on top of her.This is NOT A SAFE TOY.

I do not like Amazon's new star system of ranking.My daughter loved it so I have to give "fun" 5 stars.It seemed educational for her level, so I have to give that at least 4 stars.Discounting stability, it seems like it's otherwise quite durable.But I can't discount stability, so it gets 3 stars.But I cannot in good conscience recommend this toy, so it overall gets 1 star.

This toy should be recalled!It is cheap and not steady at all.It falls all the time. First time my baby tried to pull herself up on the toy the whole thing (and my baby) fell sideways and she hit her head so hard! It is not safe for an unsteady walker (which is the point of a buying a walker) And now that my baby is a more confident walker it still topples easily.Very cheap and unsafe!

My daughter is 9 months and about to walk on her own, but I still don't let her walk with this toy by herself; I hold onto the bar and walk along with her to keep her from going too fast. When your child is learning how to pull up/stand/walk you don't just let them go free range alone. Use some common sense and you will love this toy. And it was half the price at TRU.

My First LeapPad Learning System - Blue

I know there has been much written about this product, but I also want to stress how great this toy is.Every time I would go to the toy store with my 1 1/2 year old daughter, she insisted on playing with the LeapPad (the one for ages 4yrs and up).She would scream if I took her away from it.So, for Christmas, I gave her the My First Leappad.I thought I'd give it a try, even though it was recommended for ages 3 and up -well over her age.It is definitely the best product I have ever bought!She is now 2 1/2 years old and it is still one of her absolute favorite toys.We take it every time we travel (air, car, everything!) She is proficient at all of her letters, numbers, shapes, and colors and even though she's done every page of all of the books we have that go with it, she never seems to tire of it.This is a truly great product -educational and fun!I highly highly recommend it -even if your child isn't 3 years old yet!You won't be disappointed!

My 3 year old loves his "My First Leap Pad".It is the only educational toy (I don't consider playing on Daddy's computer a toy) that he plays with.As a matter of fact, it's the only toy that isn't Power Rangers or Bob the Builder that he plays with every day.He's learning how to read because of using this toy, when previously he showed little interest.

However ... I have not been able to find ANY supplemental books for "My First Leap Pad" and that is a MAJOR disappointment ... you may just want to skip the "My First Leap Pad" and plunk down the extra money for regular Leap Pad ... Looks like I'm going to have to ...

We bought the My First LeapPad for our daughter over a year ago for her 3rd birthday. She is still playing with it. It is one of the few toys that have held her attention other than her play kitchen. She takes it everywhere that we go and she even sleeps with it, all this still after an entire year of playing.

The pen that is used with the leap pad did stop working just recently and I called the company and they sent me another one free of charge no questions asked. Thats what I call service. I would recommend this toy to anyone who has small children. In fact I think that we are going to buy her the regular LeapPad for Christmas. The only thing that I don't like is that the My First LeapPad does not have a wide variety of books to choose from.

I debated on whether to get my 3 year old the My First or the original Leap Pad.I went with the My First, but when I received it, I realized that my daughter was way too advanced for most of the material.I really think this is more meant for age 2-3.It is things like, counting from 1-10, learning body parts, colors and shapes.These are things my daughter knew by the age of 3.There are some good things for her age, but I learned that the original leap start has the red books called pre-math, pre-reading and etc. These books are the same level as the My First, so there really is no need to even buy the My First in my opinion.I gave the My First to my 20 month old to play with and bought my three year old the original as I should have done in the first place.

I am writing this review to praise the My First Leap Pad product.The "book" was given to my son for a Christmas gift last year when he was barely 2.Right away my son figured out how to use the pen and how to press the "go" button to start each new activity.It is 8 mos later and this product is still a big hit.My son uses it everyday.He already knows all his ABC's, colors, shapes and we are currently working on phonics.It is wonderful to see his little face light up when he realizes that he has gotten an answer correct.I love this product soo much that I am currently looking for all the new books available.I just can't wait until my child is ready for the next Leap Pad level.This is a product well worth investing in.Like I said my son has used this book EVERYDAY for the past 8 mos, and it has been dropped and tugged on, but is still working fine.One time my son accidently spilled his water on the book and after wiping up the excess water and letting it air dry it was as good as new.Not even a single water stain is visable!My son has also gotten a little curious and tried ripping the books in half, with no success.The books for the My first Leap Pad are just as durable as the holder!! Plus, I have only changed the batteries ONCE in 8mos!!I love this product and plan on buying several to give as gifts!! Leap Frog has out done themselves with this learning tool!Oh, and one more thing, as for the books falling off the main holder, all I can say is that again, my son has used his My First Leap Pad everyday now for the past 8 mos and not once have I seen him struggle to keep the book on the holder.Nor have I had problems with the book falling off, even in the car.

This is a GREAT product for parents wanting to get their toddlers off to a head start!!

My parents got this game for me when I was 10 and at age 15, my friends and I still play it.It's very educational, with beautifully-illustratedcards representing different horses that tell about each ones' breeds,colors, markings, etc.It also includes a handy booklet with generalinformation on horses as well as game rules and plays.The game isactually 3 in 1; with two versions for multiple players and one version fora single player.Another bonus is that to play you don't need extensiveknowledge of horses anyone can play!I have over 5 other different horseboard games and this one is my favorite with my friends and family.It ismoney well spent.

Not knowing what to expect with a game about horses we were pleasantly surprised. My daughter, the 9 year old who is crazy about horses loves this game. I thought it might be a good educational game for a horse-crazy girl. It is educational if you want to learn about ranch horses or wild horses, different breeds, colors, markings etc. There are six games you can play: 3 solitare and 3 for multiple players. The games are simple enough for my daughter to read and explain to me. As a mom, I was not bored out of my mind, and my daughter loves itso it's good mommy/daughter time!

I purchased this game as a Christmas present for my 11 yr. old daughter (who is horse obsessed).The entire family had a blast playing it.I'm a 40 something man, who generally gets rapidly bored with childrens games.My wife seemed to enjoy too.My 5 year old could play too (with a lot of assistance).

There is quite a bit of luck in the game, and it is possible to come from way behind a win (which keeps it interesting).The components are a little week though.The horse cards are beautifully illustrated and are of good quality similar to high quality playing cards.Compared to the cards the board is poorly illustrated, and of below average quality compared to other board games. The adventure cards are little more than heavy paper and could really use some improvement.The size and quality of the adventure cards will make them very susceptable to damage and loss.

This is a nice family game, particularly if your family is into horses (even if only a little).

It is also great to become acquainted with this fine company.If the quality of this one piece is indicative, Stanley-London's other period-instruments should be similarly superb!Oh, and I can't find "China" written anyplace thereon!

Levels of Discovery Royal Rocker Princess

i am mixing daisys and princess stuff in my lil girls room ... this rocker is bigger than most kids chairs. fits my 7 year old well.not too small like most kid chairs.

The chair is exactly as pictured and once put together,is very pretty and will be a cute addition to my granddaughter's room.Hopefully it will last and she can give it to her child someday.It took a while to put together, but the directions were clear and not hard to follow.

The chair comes with easy-to-follow instructions and all the tools needed for assembly. Within an hour you can have the chair assembled and your child will be sitting,blowing bubbles in the backyard. I love KIdKraft products and unlike the previous reviewer there were nothing wrong with our chair.

I got this chair for my 3 year old because he was obsessed with our chaise lounges in the backyard.It is a cute looking chair.

However, it has several flaws.The angle of the seat is awkward.My 3 year old (who is tall for his age) sits back and smacks his head into the upper wooden rod at the top of the seat.So in order to avoid that, he scoots his butt down on the seat, which puts his back at a very odd and uncomfortable angle.

I also wasn't pleased with the quality of the wood.It came out of the box slightly damp.Upon inspection, there were several areas where the wood had been damaged.

I promptly returned it and got a much more comfortable camp chair that he loves.I would look elsewhere if you're looking for a comfortable lounge chair for your child.

My 3 yr old LOVES his plush Mater! Arrived quickly, SO cute and well made! Would definitely recommend to others!

I purchased this plush Mater, not knowing what to expect, especially at this price point.However, I was pleasantly surprised.This will be a Christmas gift to my friends' daughter, who loves Mater and I think she'll love this toy.

The material is super soft and the stuffing feels nicely cushioned.The parts of Mater are detailed and it looks like care was taken in the design of this toy.It appears to be an official Disney toy since that's what the tag said.

This Mater is also large enough to be huggable or used as a cushion for a little kid.

Overall, I was very surprised at the quality of this item and think it kids who love Mater will love this toy.

Dog-Opoly

If you love dogs or happen to own one, and you like "Monopoly", then I highly recommend this game!It is played just like the original "Monopoly", but with a very obvious twist...instead of the focus of the game being moving your car (or in this game, dog-related item.) around the board (which has been altered to a cute doggy version) and rushing to purchase property, the fun is doubled as you get to purchase dogs instead!Let me tell you, the bids were high when my grandma was considering auctioning off the Boston Terrier (the breed of my closest furry friend)!And what was even more exciting was the fact that a big picture of a Boston Terrier sits right in the center of the board!Anyway, I can't speak for everyone when I say that you'll find your dog in the game, but the game is still loads of fun, and very kid-friendly.Besides teaching managing money with dogs, it also teaches about the different breeds featured in the game. (Read the backs of the cards with the dogs on them.)

Overall, I highly recommend this game!I enjoyed it very much and can't wait to play it again! (This time I WILL get the Boston Terrier!)

When I ordered Dogopoly, I thought that all Dogopoly games were the same with metal game pieces (a fire hydrant, a flea, a T-Bone steak, etc.) as pictured just like regular Monopoly game pieces.

I was not aware (until now) that there is a "cheaper" version that has colored wooden dog bowls and dog bones for game pieces.I purchased this as a gift for a retiring executive who is a serious dog lover.It seemed like the perfect gift for that purpose.

Unfortunately, I received the "cheaper" version.I say "cheaper" because this game cost the same as the nicer version.I don't understand why there are two versions with the exact same outside cover.I am very embarrassed and disappointed with this item.Although this is not a reflection on the vendor, I feel tricked into buying the game that I really wanted and ended up with something else something I wish I hadn't purchased.

When to box arrived, I took the game out and wrapped it (in dog wrapping paper, of course).The entire office gathered around to witness the event.I was expecting to point out the cute metal game pieces, and to my horror, saw colored wooden dog bowls and dog bones instead.I am so embarrased.

My son and I are enjoying this game greatly!! Regular Monopoly is one of my favorite games, but did not keep my son interested long enough to play a full game. My 5 year old is addicted to this game, we played it every day for the first couple of months we had it, sometimes more.It was so educational for him to learn larger numbers, and how to put the money together a certain way to make up how much he owed, and is now starting to be able to make change.It's amazing, he's five and can add and subtract large numbers using money!!I recommend it for everyone!!! I love it too, it is so much fun!!

Really cute and very soft. Nice quality. We gave this as a gift and the little boy really liked it.

My son asked Santa for a teddy bear. Since he wants to grow up and be a fireman, I thought it would be cute to find a fireman bear. This was the best one I saw. So I ordered it. It ended up being slightly bigger than expected. The legs aren't sewn sitting. It is soft, and adorable. Much better than the product picture. My son will love it.

Stiga Montreal Canadiens Table Rod Hockey Players

After buying many of these teams by Stiga, I have found that some are better made than others, what I have seen for sure, is that most of them are well made being the exception those that have to be modified with tools, although I have found a few that did not fit the game pegs easily and had to be tweaked a little.

This one needs to go back to the factory drawing table. Do not buy this defective product. I used a power drill to adapt the players to fit on the game pegs, but they're not flush the way they should be.
