Kidkraft Pinboard Desk with Hutch and Chair
We bought this desk to put in our son's room so he could have an appropriate space to do his homework.He absolutely loves it, and uses it for writing assignments or just to sit and read.He enjoys the pinboard very much, too.When I put this piece of furniture together, it is one of the most well-made items we have bought.It is heavy wood, in excellent condition, and every part went in easily and perfectly (maybe because it is from an American furniture company). The only word of caution is this:it is a small desk, intended for young children as they start school and will accomodate them up to about fourth grade.Beyond that age, the chair is really too small.But for now, we love it, it's beautiful, and our son thinks it's great!
This is a nice-looking desk.My husband had it ready to go 30 minutes after pulling the items from the box.The materials are solid wood, and feel very sturdy.
Online it says the recomended age is 3-8, while on the box it says 5-8.I have two small 4 1/2 year olds and would say that the vast majority ofthree year olds wouldn't be able to place their feet on the floor to work at the desk.
My only issue with the desk is the beaming, white Kidkraft stamp in the center of the right side of the desk.The wood is a very dark espresso finish, and the siver dollar size, white stamp is quite an eye-sore.
It would have been a 5 star product without the stamp that seems impossible to remove.

I bought this desk for my 3 year old grandaughter. She loves it! When I received it a part was missing. I was able to go to the KidKraft website and order it without any problems. The desk is high quality and very attractive. I have it in my home office and it fits in nicely with my other furniture without looking like a play room. It has an opening in the hutch so that you can run wires thru it. The corkboard is a nice touch and adds to the fun factor of the desk. The shelf is also a pefect height even for a 3 year old. After seeing the quality of both the product and customer service I am a huge fan of Kidkraft products now.

Ordered it on the 6th and it arrived on the 12th with no issues. The table is high quality and the shipper opened the box at my home to ensure that it had not been damaged during shipping. The kids and the adults love it so far. The only minor complaint is that the two halves did not align perfectly; one half is a bit bowed in the center making it a bit lower than the other half at the net's center. Otherwise all is well.

The Hobbit Thorin Oakenshield An Unexpected Journey 3.75" Figure
The 3.75-inch figure doesn't have Thorin's fur overcoat--apparently, only the 6-inch figure has that. But this is a nice item: very detailed and seems like the character's appearance has been carefully rendered.The oakenshield tends to fall off the arm, but the swords stay put. Orcrist is a lovely shape, and I can't wait to see it in the movie.
Very worthwhile for older children and grownup collectors. However, the swords and the shield are small. If you drop them, it might be hard to find these accessories again.
Beyond that, the facial expression is a perfect match to the movie character.The multiple points of articulation are great.Thorin's second sword fits a holster that is molded to his hip.You can't collect these figures and not get Thorin, but I wish the construction had been done better.

Okay, the good news, it is virtually a 3-d puzzle in which most of the parts go together and stay together without glue, though in the long run you are better off utilizing that susbstance.The parts are pretty understandable, though I don't understand the apparatus known visually as a sink and frig combination.(maybe that is just a sink and there is no frig and why isn't there a frig?Otherwise it comes with six rooms of furniture includng a lawn chair, a piano, baby high chair and rocking chair.I bought 2 sets at $5 dollars each at Michaels 2 years ago.You can put the fantasy puzzle house and furniture kit for $20 on ebay, right now (March 14, 2012)

I am a long time Lionel user and buyer.I received the Polar Express Elf Car for Christmas and found it to be much less than expected.The car is much smaller than expected for such a high price.The elves hang on to the hand operator of the car but unfortunately, jam the motion because they swing too far.When they jam the motion, the car comes to a complete stop.One way to fix the car would be to glue the elves so they don't rotate.Not sure I want to do this.I have had this thing around the track twice and it is awful.

The concept is great! However, when you try to use the car it doesn't like to work at slow speeds, and at medium the handles whip the elves into a frenzy and they get lodged between the handle and the side with the Polar Express logo.We're going to go to a train shop to see if we just got a bad car, or if it's a design flaw. For the price I was very disappointed.

We got this hand car along with the Polar Express train set.Like the others have said, the motion is jerky at best and the worst problem for me is that it travels at a different rate than the Polar Express engine.You can't run this on the same track as the Polar Express train because it will run into the back of that train.If you try to slow it down it won't move and the Polar Express train will hit it.I hope someone doesn't read all of these reviews and buys it from me off of Ebay!

First, I did not purchase this from Amazon, though I wish I did since it would have been cheaper for me to do so instead of from my local Lionel shop.However, since I tend to purchase many items from Amazon, I wish I would have had this review prior to my purchase.In terms of the visual appeal for this Lionel, I feel it is well done and depicts the feature film as wisely as a small mass produced model can.However, I have given it only one star because beauty is not everything, yet sadly, that is the only thing this product has to offer.As mentioned in other comments, this toy has no functionality.The little elves jam continuously and the car stops dead each time (momentarily), until the inner components overpower the force and break it free, thus placing abnormal stress on the inner mechanisms.It is my opinion that when you buy something that is suppose to have a smooth functionality, it should work (especially for the price).However, my review on this product, along with what many replicable Lionel dealers will tell you (which I found out later), is this product is a pure shelf display piece, or at least it will be once it jams to a point where the inner mechanisms finally fail.I am disappointed at best with this product.If it wasn't that I am making a Polar Express themed layout, I would have returned it after the first dysfunctional circle around the track.That being said, if you wish to run this on your layout or give it to a child to run and captivate their imagination, there will be clever gluing involved on your part to maintain the elves' position without them jamming.However, for someone like me, I can place it in the town stationary and feel content with its representation.I hope this review helps.

I am just a recreational player who enjoys a daily game of play ping pong at work.A colleague recently purchased a new racket and their game improved tremendously so I decided to take the plunge and settled on the DHS L 402.This is a great racket that is superior to the Stiga Supreme purchased by my colleague.The spin and power are incredible.The loss of a star is due to my only complaint which is the horrible smell of the racket, primarily the handle.Not sure if it is the stain used or what but it smells horrible and if it does not fade quickly I will most likely look for a new racket.
Pros:
1. You can control the ball well, put some spin on it.
2. It comes with one good quality white colored ball, and that is good.
3. The case is pretty nice.It does look like it contains a paddle which works good for me :)
Cons:
There is one BIG issue: The handle smells like rotten fish.I don't know why they couldn't make it smell neutral and it is not even the rubber on the paddle, just the handle.After you play with this paddle for a few minutes, your hands smell like rotten fish as well.

Butterfly 303 Penhold Table Tennis Racket
This racket is fantastic for the price. Great build quality, nice case. The black side (pips in) is REALLY sticky and provides great spin, especially for serves. The red side (pips out) I prefer when I am returning. It does a good job of absorbing/cancelling much of your opponent's spin. It's also surprising fast and "springy." Takes some getting used to, but I really like it now.The grip is comfortable and smooth with no sharply angled edges. The accompanying case is a nice bonus to keep the racket clean and protected.
Overall, the quality is much higher than I expected for the price, and it has improved my game substantially over the cheap, worn paddles my employer supplies in the rec room.

One pro and many cons, the one star is for quick delivery. I ordered it on 3/15/12 and 2 days later it arrived.Brief background-skill level: I'm an avid tournament player here in SoCal and have played using a penholder grip since I was a youngster.(side note) my rating is around 1000 for those who are familiar with Ratings.
Now for the bad news.
-The blade(wood) was made in an irregular shape (Very noticeable uneven shape symmetrically)
-the Rubber is very thin so it makes a very dense hollow sound (kind of like beginner paddles)
-Lastly, this is a pretty heavy paddle (compared to my previous paddle: The Stiga Apex-WRB which I had to go back to)
So for those who use lighter paddles, it's not for you.
I'm a fan of Butterfly but for the competitive penholder players this is not the right stick for you.
I was thinking this was a heck of a deal, but it isn't even worth the 20something bucks I paid for it.

As an avid recreational table tennis player, I am very happy I purchased this paddle.Considering paddles in this price range, I found this was the best looking paddle in terms of specifications and appearance.I am a penhold player, who often switches between Japanese and Chinese holds, but I really like how comfortable this paddle is in all aspects.One of the biggest deciding factors for buying this paddle was the fact that it came with both pips in and pips out rubbers.I have never played pip out before, but was very pleased to have the option (my style of playing only uses one side of the paddle).The quality of the rubber is adequate, and the wood is assembled acceptably.
After about a month of using it, I dropped it and it landed square on the bottom of the handle.This caused the handle to split where the softer portion of the handle fell off.However, a little wood glue put it right back on without a problem.
Considering the cost and quality, I give it 5 stars.Not the best, but not expensive and I would have no problem buying another one after it is worn out.
Additionally, the case is very nice, though it does not cover the handle, oddly.

Zelda Hylian Letter Opener Shield & Sword Table Top Set
The first thing I noticed was the paint job it looks like a 3rd grader did it in art class. There are no assembly instructions, which at first doesn't seem like a big deal considering there are four screws,two nuts, a mounting bracket, and a block of wood. The hard part is figuring out how the swords are supposed to fit. After a while of examining the pieces, I figured out that the short screws go through the metal support piece and into the shield. This leaves a small gapfor you to jam the swords into. The only way to keep everything from moving and the swords from falling outis to tighten the screws down so there is no way to ever use the swords as letter openers. I would not recommend you buy this unless you are looking for a dollar store quality nick-knack.

Not what I expected, it was very small.. not very well put together or painted. In the end my roommate, whom this was a Christmas present for was disappointed as was I. It was also nearly impossible to assemble, because the holes were drilled wrong and the screws did not fit. Could have been so much more. You can see where the shield was cut out and shaped correctly but the paint was horribly done. The same with the hilt of the "letter opener sword". The holes for the screw to attach the shield onto the bracket do not even align and there is no way to remove a sword with ought it falling apart because of the lack of sheaths. My twin babies liked the fish & turtle pieces... The seahorse is ok... the starfish needs a face -living creatures with eyes are more engaging for tots.The set includes too many vague seaweed and coral-shaped pieces which are completely ignored.
Perhaps an older child would create a 'seascape' using the seaweed pieces, but I tend to think mine will have outgrown this type of tub toys by the time they'd have a concept of creating a scene involving underwater plant life...I suppose time will tell.

Pass the Pigs
I am a teacher and I use this game with my kids at school all the time.They LOVE it from grade school to high school depending on how you use it.I don't really follow the rules that came with it, only the values of how the pigs land.I have used it often in an afterschool tutoring program were we often practice math facts and addition.I took the instruction sheet from the game, found the place where they have the pigs drawn and what the rolls are worth, enlarged it on the copier so all the kids (usually less than 6) can see it at the same time (and of course, colored the pig drawings pink!)Then each student rolls, finds what his roll is worth, and adds his score.The first to pass 100 points wins.We sometimes start with 100 and subtract our score -the first to zero (or less) wins.We have played where I announce at the beginning of the round that "This roll will be multiplied by 7"..the kids all cheer "Come on doule razorback!"I was amazed how fast they learned what each roll was worth.I would have liked to try something with fractions, but my study group wasn't ready for that.(For example, you could make each roll worth a certain fraction and they would have to add them up at the end of the game.)
We have also used it to study for tests.I ask them a question and if they get it right, they get to roll.I am sure you could adapt it to lots of subjects.It is just a fun way to do rote things with a little more fun.
I have also used it with younger kids who cannot add yet.I drew them a 100 square (a little block about 3"x3" divided into 10x10 grid) and made a bunch of copies.Then they roll, find their score on the scoresheet, then color in that many squares with a marker.Nice counting practice, and visual of how much different coloring in 20 is from coloring in only 5.I sometimes ask them "Look at your paper and at Joe's.Who has more squares colored in?How many do you need to catch up?"
I really don't see any problem with the competing, and I sort of like the added benefit of learning HOW TO LOSE (which few seem to know) and other sportsmanship behaviors.
The only problem I have seen with the game is that the little black dot (on one side of the pig) wears off and I have to keep drawing it on with a sharpie.Also, after about a year, their little piggy tails are hardly hanging on.I need a new set.
GET THE GAME....have fun, change the rules, make up new ones...the pigs are the motivation...you decide what you want them to learn from it.OR learn nothing and just play.You'll like it.
Pass the Pigs is a variation on Yahtzee, with the fun little pig dice being thrown into different combinations with various point values.
It's a great game to take on trips, or to pull out when entertaining children of various ages; everyone can enjoy it.I've played with children as young as 4 and had a fine time.
Although the rules of the game rely on the player taking a turn until he or she determines that luck is about to run out (at the risk of losing all accumulated points), this can easily be modified (esp. for younger children) so that each player throws the dice in turn and records points.
The educational value is in using mathematical skills, and pattern recognition skills, for younger players.
This game is very durable, but it would be a sad day indeed if the little pigs were ever lost.Luckily, all the parts (pigs, score pad, pencil) fit into a neat little case.I really like this game for a number of reasons. First, because it's fun for kids AND adults to play, second, because it is very small and portable, and third, because it does require some math, giving it some educational value. It is also a quiet game requiring only a flat surface on which to roll the pigs and enough light to see them. It's nice that there are also so very few parts to lose (2 pigs,pencil,& paper-all in a case).
We keep a set in our car, and when we are waiting to be seated or served at a restaurant, it's a great way to pass the time.It also makes a nice little gift for friends going on a trip. I only wish that I had thought up such a simple, but clever game!

For under $10, those who have never seen this game before will get their money's worth just by looking at the package. THe concept is simple and brilliant. THe pigs are your dice, and you get points for the positions in which they land.Each of these positions has a name (e.g. Snouters, Trotters), and the more improbable, the more points (although I'm not sure that this has been physicist-tested). Yes, it's great for toddlers and kids, but it has that great goofy quality that nonconformist teenagers and young-at-heart adults will love. Not sure of hte all-important zany/stable balance of your new sig. other--get out the Pig game!
While the game can get old after awhile, what game doesn't.It can be put away and brought out whenever a suitable occasion arises. What an awesome game! A counselor introduced me to Pass the Pigs when I was a kiddo at summer camp, and now I'm in college, and still rolling the pigs! It's great fun, and I've been throwing the same pair of hogs for the past decade.
How can it be educational? As with any game of chance, there are different probabilities for different situations that might arise during game play. There are many different strategies, and if you look at this game from a strategic point of view, it can be very educational to someone learning statistics or probability.
Some of my friends and I have even come up with a drinking game for Pass the Pigs....

My daughter absolutely loves her new barbie bed. I just finished building her barbie house and I'm buying all the furniture from Amazon. It all goes perfect together. She plays with barbie dolls as well as the monster high dolls... 2 of the monster high dolls fit in the bed... my daughter likes her dolls to have sleepovers! :) It's awesome. It's great that Amazon carries most of the basic furniture as well!

Picked this up for my then 8 year old daughter last year (2011) for xmas. She loved playing with Barbies and had this on her very long and specific xmas list (lol). The bed is cute. Typical cheap plastic with small, pink material blanket. The nightstand, small parts and "headboard" disappeared within three days. She played with the bed for a short while and got bored of it too. Wish mattel would come out with more interesting and sturdier toys.
