This is a very good starter step that will get you going. There are two things to beware of though 1) the instruction booklet describes features that are not on this train, but are on others. This can be frustrating as you try to figure out why it isn't working. Just note that it isn't working because this engine doesn't have the feature and it is not dysfunctional. 2) The smoke from the engine takes a bit of time to get going about 20 times around the track, but once it does it is pretty cool.

We purchased this Santa Fe Ready to Run set for our 9 year old for the Holidays.The set is made by Lionel.It came with 80 watt transformer, a fasttrack oval, steam engine, tender, lighted caboose and rolling stock.Everything worked great right out of the box and the track is easy to assemble.

The engine makes a steam engine whistle sound that is realistic and easy to use....just push a button on the transformer!It also came with smoke fluid and is supposed to puff smoke but we have not been successful creating what should look like realistic smoke.If you look really hard, you can sometimes catch a small thin vapor of smoke rising as it passes by.The engine also has a headlight that works well and is fun to watch as it enters our homemade tunnel.

The engine and tender are sturdy and heavy and seem up to the task of a 9 year old's energy and imagination.We already have seen dinosaurs, monster trucks, and a military helicopter invade the train layout.The train stays on the track even at high speeds.

The only downside I see is that the fast track and many of the accessories can be quite expensive.But our son really enjoys it and we are looking forward to building a fun layout and memories together.For a starter set, it was reasonably priced and seems to be pretty good quality.

Bought this set for my grandson.Nice set, great detailing.Looks like heavy duty power pack.Just disappointed such a venerable American brand's product is now made in China.Also disappointed that price paid two weeks ago has now dropped 38 bucks.why the price fluctuations.Would be nice to know you are getting the best price when you purchase.Does amazon make good on lower prices in a certain amount of time like some of the box stores do?

I received my train in perfect timing on Christmas eve morning via "last minute" shipping. Everything was packed tight, secure, and neatly. I ordered this train to replace my previous Lionel set I had received when I was quite younger as I had lost only the engine to that set, rendering it useless. I was amazed with the quality of this set, every little detail looks realistic and meticulously detailed. When comparing to my brother's old Lionel New York Central Flyer from the 80's/90's, this set has significantly more detail and weighs a considerable amount (which is good seeing that they at least still make die-cast models). The new 0 gauge track and controller with built in transformer are major improvements over my older track and controller set up.. All the cars in this set are detailed as well as including lights in the caboose and flatbed car. I was however under the impression the light would light up on the rear of the tender car, only to be later disappointed that it did not (although this is by no means a big deal, and should certainly not influence decisions). The one thing that really did irk me when opening the set though is that the new box packaging has a rather inconvenient design with train cars on one side and track on the other which will prove to be more difficult to take out and put away each Christmas compared to the original packaging of older Lionel sets. Overall this set has no major complaints and is an exceptionally crafted and detailed set you or your child should not miss out on and will lead to hours of chugging along!

I bought this as a gift for Christmas and paid for 2-day shipping. Took it out and set it up for a test run.It ran for about half and hour before it died on the track. I isolated the problem to one particular car (searchlight). It was actually sparking at one point, until it completely died. With this one car on the track the train will not run at all. Kudos to Amazon for attempting to correct the situation. Regardless, Lionel trains are currently made in China and needless to say lack some type of quality control.

WARMACHINE Template Set

If you play Warmachine this set is a must have and super cheap. The quality is fantastic despite the low price. Comes with a spray template, a melee/reach/1 in. template, and an 3/4/5 in./ directional area of effect (AOE) template. Granted you can find a better AOE template that not only does blast radius (3,4,5 in.) and direction but also does distance away from target in inches. However, that one individually cost more than all 3 of these templates combined. Highly recommend getting this if you play Warmachine it should be one of the first things in your arsenal for playing besides the rulebook, army, and dice.

Just a handy set to have and love the small 0.5 2" template, great addition to the game. A must for players

this racket like any takes a while to get use to but when u do, u certainly have an advantage over the oppponent. Spin is crazy on this racket!!!

Good Control, well balanced, and very fast. Took me a bout 2 weeks to get used to control on the back hand. Forehand power and control is awesome.

Rubber tackiness is very good, although rubber thickness and strength could use improvement. After playing only 2 times, the edges of rubber showed some fraying.

Inquired about the rubber problem with GoTableTennis.com and sent them pictures of the racket. They were very nice and sent me a brand new racket atno charge and let me keep the old one. I have not had a chance to try the new one yet to see if the rubber fraying is problamatic with this racket.

The selling feature of this paddle for me was the fact that it had a rubber on it that was actually sold separately (Flextra).It's rated as an all around rubber that is good for beginners learning strokes.It also costs about twenty five dollars a sheet, making this paddle basically free.I am a recreational player and for me the trebuchet gives a lot of spin and a fair amount of control and speed.It is spinnier than what I used in the past, which was also a premade paddle.The rubber does fray some around the edges, but it hasn't affected play.I assume the rubber is replaceable so a user could possible upgrade to a better sheet when their skills improved, or even use different types of rubber on forehand and backhand.

As bought, the paddle is comfortable and easy to use.I have no idea how they come up with ratings for these things but if it was me doing the rating I would give it a higher rating on control than fifty and probably a lower rating on speed than one hundred.Remember though, I am not a club or tournament player.

First of all, the product picture shows 6 wolves.The description does state 3 wolves but the picture is misleading.Second, the pack I rec'd had light brown wolves with black highlights on their back and look nothing like the picture or the wolves in the movie which appeared to be gray wolves.These look more like German Shepherds than wolves.The wolves also do not look like they are running like they appear in the picture, they appear to be just standing.For $25, I expected better than this and at least get what is pictured.I have a detailed Polar Express train layout and felt this would add to the overall layout but I have to say I am disappointed. I'll have to paint them to get them to look better I assume there may be packs where they are actually gray so maybe I was just unlucky.....

I am collecting the items associated with the Lionel Polar Express O Scale Train Set and thought this would make a nice addition to the collection.Unfortunately Like the Caribou Pack, they did not do their homework.The low down is as follows:

1) Everyone is using an old stock image of the Wolf Pack If this pack was every really produced I don't know I know it would have been much better than what they are producing now.Please tell your marketing person to at least look at the product in the Warehouse Warehouse personnel can take a picture using their cell phones and send it for review (That's the end of my free advice).

2) As an FYI the Wolves in the movie are dark in color (Hint Hint).

3) The picture shows stands and a nice coloration of the animals from the movie.Also Shows 6 Wolves You get 3 and 5 Rabbits you get 4

4) What you get are 6 Adult Labs (thats a dog) which are light brown with no stands (the dogs have a notion to want to roll over and play dead).Shame on you Lionel or Lionel Marketing Department and also Quality Control at Warner Brothers However maybe they were designed in China by someone who never saw the movie or a Wolf. (However I do believe Wolves are on the Main Land of China and the Chinese are smarter than that!) FYI: Lionel Moved Production to China of all Trains in early 2000 Hence disconnect between Marketing and Production??).

5) I am leaving the rabbits out of it since they are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Anyway don't buy these unless you plan on putting it away as part of a collection. Or maybe you want to buy six over priced $1.50 Cent Plastic Dogs for $26.00 and your sure your child has no idea of how the Wolves looked in the movie.If you want plastic dogs go to the Toy Store they are much cheaper!

Minnesota Fats MFA41655 Regulation Ball Set

Just got this ball set today, I have a Minnesota Fats cue and so far it's been pretty good, that what made me bought this ball set. It looks well made but doesn't really stand out from the cheaper sets that I've played before, actually it looks and feels just like them, but I'll give a update review after I play with it for a while.

Here's the update:

They only stay shiny for about a week, then it started showing what they really are... I've been playing for 1 and half months and I play at home with some friends, sometimes by myself, so I dont abbuse them at all, but one of the balls (number 14) has already cracked and chipped, a huge piece fell off and I cannot use that ball anymore, some other balls also showed some small cracks. So it's not even as good as the walmart ball set, I have never had a ball set that lasts so short, I'll see if I can still return it to Amazon. So if you are looking to buy some cheap pool balls, just drive to your local walmart and buy them.

Stay away from this set!

Playskool in the Night Garden Makka Pakka Bean Bag Doll Toy

y daughters love In the Night Garden and were dying to own a character toy.I think this toy is somewhat limited in the US as the show is based in the UK, so you have pay a premium for this product.The toy itself is adorable, but is no larger than a beanie baby, so I was a little disappointed seeing that I paid almost 25.00 with shipping.I would wait until the products are more available in the US to get this one.It's just a small stuffed toy.The description for this one does not indicate that it's this small.

I thought the doll was going to be much bigger, like the picture shows, but it was very small for $20 or $30. My son started playing with it last night and today the eye is already coming undone. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. For $20 I spent it should at least be durable. I'm very disappointed with it.

I saw the prize wheel in a shopping mall for customers who bought over a certain amount of merchandise to spin and get a gift. It is very excited as you have no idea if you are getting something or nothing. Since I was one of those customers, I got to touch, spin and have a feel of the prize wheel before I decided to buy one for my programs.

The wheel is sturdy and well made. Since it can be dissembled and put back into its own card board box, it takes up very little space. It came with templates for the slots so that I can just print them in different color copier paper to make it colorful and more interesting. Since I can use the prize wheel in many different occasions, I think the price is okay.

I used the prize wheel last summer as a reward for kids' reading. I put in different prizes in each slot and the kids tried their luck spinning the wheel to get something ranged from gift card to a pencil. It is a great hit and kids are just crazy about it. I also put in different riddles in the slots for kids to solve in another program. It is another great success. Some more ideas: use the prize wheel as a color wheel or as a fund raising opportunity. With a little imagination, the kind of activities that you can make use of the prize wheel is endless.

This is a wonderful well crafted table and 2 chairs set. It has 5 farm animals painted on the table and one each on the chair seat. My kid (2 yrs old) loves the animals. The set is very easy to assemble. It is very sturdy and comfortable furniture and at the same time not too heavy to move. Its even comfortable for adults to sit on the chairs. My little one uses the table and chair practically for everything from drawing, to crafts, to having meals. While purchasing, I was hoping that they had different colors available as I am not too fond of green. But when I saw the set, I was happy with the colors used. Its uses neutral colors so it can be a good choice for any gender kid. When we got it delivered, the box was torn on one side but hopefully no damage was done to the contents of the box.

My daughter got this as a part of the Servin' Surprises kitchen set. Fisher-Price Servin' Surprises Kitchen & Table She is 14 months old, and for her this set is perfect. The pieces are big enough that she won't choke on them. She can handle them easily.

The teapot itself is one piece. The lid does not come off. I like that because it means I don't have to go looking for it later. When you tip it over, there is a plastic piece that looks like a stream of tea that comes out. It's a simple idea, but it makes the set pretty cool.

The other pieces are 4 cookies/cakes, 2 spoons, 2 cups, 2 saucers, 1 sugar bowl with a removable lid & 1 creamer pot. The stand it all goes on is easy to assemble & seems sturdy enough for it's intended use. It's not the type of thing you want your kids standing on though.

This set does not talk or make noise on its own! YOu must have the "magic" tray that comes with the kitchen! If you do, the tray will sing songs and say a few tea related phrases. I think the set is fun on it's own though.

I loved the teapot and the set very well made and cute.My daughter loved the " tea" that comes put of the teapot.I gave this only 3 stars because the 3 tier tea " thing" not sure what to call it does not stay together very well the very top shelf is always popping off and it just seems to fall apart way too easy.The tea set itself is great but the 3 tier "thing" my not hang around long.

I got this from Amazon over a year ago and it definitely looks like a Thomas from a day in snow. Now, I ran him a couple of times and he is a decent runner. The only detail I saw was that he was slightly tilted, which wasn't something I'd expect from Bachmann. However, it didn't bother me too much as he still ran well with the truck that had snow flakes on it, a tanker with a wreath on it, and Emily's coach with Christmas decorations. Overall, this is a very nice product you can add to your Christmas tree when the holidays arrive.

I bought this for my 4 year old daughter for her birthday and she loves it.She uses it at home but it is especially good when we are going somewhere.It is a nice solid suitcase that holds lots of art supplies.It sets up easy and can keep her entertained for a long time.It has the easel, dry erase board and chalk board.The chalk board can be messy when erasing, just by the nature of chalk becoming powder.The pencils and pens and pastels are good quality.It comes with a pad.The pad is thin paper, it is good for sketches.The thin paper does not stay up in the clip well if it is just a single piece.The suitcase has drawers to keep supplies neat and organized and locks when you close the case, so things don't fall out. The drawers do not lock if you put the pad inside.It is not meant to be stuffed with extra things, as far as I can tell. This is good for older kids too.I bought it for my 6 year old neighbor for her birthday as she liked my daughters.She loves it too.

She loves it for now but is currently frustrated that the paper will not stay on their clips.The chalk board is very messy and the drawers will not hold many standard size markers unless you put them in at an angle which means less space.Disappointed that it cannot store it's own paper.Disappointed that the easel does not stay up in place easily.The markers, pastels etc. are nice quality though. I would sooner buy a nice closing book that can hold paper and pens than this again.We have only had it for a day and I am already thinking of getting rid of it.

I knew my six year old daughter would like it.I had no idea how much.She has used it every single day for a month.She has an easier time cleaning up when she's done, using the drawers, and it keeps her younger brothers from making messes with her art supplies, when she's not using it.

The clips for the easel don't hold well, as others have mentioned, and they especially do not hold the slick newsprint provided.A few sheets of blank printer paper do fine.Thick sketch paper does great.It might be nice to buy a real sketch pad to include with it, when giving it as a gift.Or to have a ream of printer paper on hand for your own children.

*It's been almost a year, and this is still a daily use item.It protects her art space from her younger brothers.The white board didn't last long, but she was never really interested in it.It's just the side where the paper goes.The chalk board is plastic, and will probably never wear out.

I was debating between the table-top version and the full one (which is close to $250).I am glad i got the smaller one for my daughter.In concept the toy is a great idea, but the execution isn't quite there.A few downsides: 1) Not all of the sea life have magnets; 2) The magnets need to be stronger for better mobility of the sea creatures; 3) the sea creatures are pretty small / really not very exciting.They should throw in some decent sized fish or sea mammals like a whale or dolphin.Overall, I would not recommend this toy.

Yes, it's a grey 15" square Lego plate.But I seem to remember the "baseplates" being the same thinkness as a regular Lego piece....the base plate is a thin (1/16"?), flexible Lego baseplate that will allow you to build really big stuff, but it's tough to use on the "living room carpet" because it is so thin it flexes into the carpet when you try to press a "house" onto it.The result is that either only one corner of the house sticks, or it sticks fine, but all the other structures you've put on, flex off.

Anyway, it's a vital item in any kid's (or adult's) Lego set....

We ordered several and glued them to a plywood table.My two kids (boy, 9; girl,7)have built an entire lego city on it.There is no limit to the creativity.I HIGHLY recommend.

for those who fall for it.Look under "Bricks & More Building Plates" and you will find (as of this writing) the very same 15 x 15-inch base plate ("Building Plate" in LEGO terminology), with the very same item no. (628), with no indicated differences, and about $2.60 cheaper.

As always, it pays to shop around.Maybe even comparison-shop within this one vendor, when they get sloppy at times like this.

Without a baseplate, the world of Lego creativity is rather limited.Building with Legos sans baseplate is like building a house without pouring a foundation.

Sadly, these baseplates are thin and flexible, so you won't likely break it if you drop it, but you also aren't likely to get too far if you try to build that skyscraper on a shag carpet.I bought one of these for each of my boys and we'll either use them on the dining room table or use a hard surface over the carpet, or glue the baseplate to a thin piece of plywood.

Finally, you can get these at toy stores for about ten dollars, but for some reason I've seen these priced at two or three times that from various on line businesses.Shop around because it isn't necessary to pay much over ten bucks for these things.

The big board is bigger than you'd think when you actually see it.Only complaint is how flimsy it is.It's also a little expensive but I haven't found it cheap anywhere.

Melissa & Doug Classic Wooden Figure Eight Train Set

We bought this set to add on to a generic wooden train set that we already owned.For the price, this set was just what we needed and was a perfect add-on.I really like the bridge; others that I've seen are not sturdy at all.My children were frustrated playing with a set in a store once because the bridge kept falling overthe bridge was just track that sloped up and lay on top of a block.Even I could not get it to stay up when pushing a train over it.The bridge in this set is great, no toppling over= happy kids.I'm surprised that more of the bridges out there for trains aren't made like this?The pieces fit together the same way any other wooden tracks do, I didn't think they were poor quality or gapping like another reviewer mentioned.My 1.5 and 3.5 year olds can both push the trains around on the track and enjoy this toy!I like that this is a toy they will be able to use for a long time, creating more elaborate tracks as they grow.

Bought this wooden set thinking I would be able to add Thomas Series of train engines, since the previous review said it was compatible. The set arrived with itsown little red wooden train engine and coach, linked via magnets. The set is easy to assemble, but there are lots of loose gaps between the track pieces where they align with each other, causing the pieces to drift out of alignment. This causes the train to derail (come off the track) frequently. My little daughter was left wondering why the train never gets any further than one single piece of track segment.

Besides trying to realign them every time the train runs on the flat track, the train set also derails as you are climbing up the bridge (in fact, the front wheels of the engine go up in the air as you are pushing the engine up the incline when you are just beyond halfway through the upward incline in other words the slope of the bridge wasn't constructed properly). So the child is expected to hold on to the engine and the coach with both hands to prevent it from derailing while going up the bridge.

The next thing I tried was with the standard Thomas Engine sets to see if any of these problems would be solved. I bought a set each of Thomas and Percy engines and coaches and then tried running them on this track set. The same problems of frequent derailing persisted (over the bridge and over the track joints).

So my overall impression is that its a very poorly designed set, which teaches the child more about accidents and derailing of trains, rather than how trains should run smoothly!

So I wouldn't recommend wasting money on this one and just spend a little extra for a good quality train set. You get what you pay for!

I bought this for my son;s 2nd birthday.He loves it and gets it out all the time.I think there's enough pieces to have a bit of variety (certainly over the models that are just loops), but it also didn't take a big investment in case he wasn't interested.It's also somewhat educational; itgives kids a chance to practice motor skills as they interlock the tracks and it lets them develop imagination and problem-solving skills as they try to come up with new configurations.

All of the pieces fit together just fine and the train stays on the track just as well as any other wodden train set. It is nice to have other options than "Thomas" train sets. My son actually hates "Thomas", and will run out of the room if he even hears the music from the show(!) He is 2 1/2 years old and loves to put the train tracks together. all of the flat tracks are reversable so you can actually make more layouts than just the figure 8. This is the perfect starter set for us.

I bought these chairs to go with a table that I trimmed the legs down to match the height for my toddler. My 17 month old needs a little help to crawl up into it, but she enjoys sitting on them and working at her table. They are sturdy enough for me to sit on as well and great quality. They don't tip easily and I feel that they are a good weight. Not light enough for a little one to drag around the house, but not too heavy either. The price seems to be the lowest for this type of product and I am really pleased with the quality. I would highly recommend this product!

I bought them, they seemed fine at the beginning, however, a few days after, problmes started. the back support started becoming lose, due to the way the manufacture design: the two bolts were not strong enogh to hold the back in place.

1. put some long wood screws from the back tosecure it.

2. return them, since I did not keep the cartons, I may have to take the #1.

I ordered these last year and unfortunately only ONE chair came.I called Amazon and sent the chair back (their pick up serivce is very quick and convienent) and they said they'd send me the correct order.Once again I was only sent one chair.So I sent it back and just used those plastic yellow chairs that come with little play kitchens.I tried getting a hold of the manufacturer and I think they were blaming it on Amazon so never got resolved.

I purchased this product through another site, but thought I should share my ideason the product itself.The product is difficult to put together (the track directions are not clear).Most of the holes for the nuts on the table did not line up.The top of the table is not supported well enough.The top comes in two pieces.The tracks are nice.But, even following the directions, the dinosaur bones do not fit together well and trains can not go through the top of the volcano.I am going to have to figure out another way for adjust for this problem.I love the idea of this product, it comes with a ton of pieces, but it is not executed very well.I can't return mine as my son is in love with it, flaws and all, but I would hesitate to purchase this again.I have to "fix" too many things with it.Kidkraft is a wonderful company that we have never had a problem with but this is really not their best idea.
