Packing: Thin cardboard that will evaporate when wet. Check for damage to box! The bases are in a plastic bag and sit against the box wall, so be careful. Inside everything is reasonably packed in bubble wrap (not the cool "POP" kind but the thin "pip" kind).
Instructions: Pretty basic single sheet. Watch for the sticker that is somewhere (mine showed up on the floor). It is very small and very important. It reads: " Please pull out the sneath before using --->". Remember this.
Assembly: Amazingly simple. Only tool you need is included, unless you miss the "sneath". I think it's weird that the ring just sits on the base and the piston just slides in but hey that's why I'm not an engineer. The first stool took like 3 minutes and I was ready for sitting! I did not see the sticker about the "sneath". The stool would not raise up. The lever just flipped up and down. I thought, "Great. Another piece of &%$@". I took it apart. I looked at it. I looked at the instructions. I got a beer. I looked at the parts. I smoked a cigarette. I looked at the sheet again. I looked at the piston in the picture. I took out the other piston from the box. It looked different. It had a cap on it! I took off the cap! It matched the picture! I looked for the cap on the one I built. It was stuck inside the seat. I got a hammer. The cap fell out after some encouragement. I put the stool back together and voila! That thing shot right up!
Comfort: My butt hurt 3 seconds after I sat down. Seriously, what did they use for foam? Concrete? It swivels nice. I played with the raising and lowering for a long time...maybe too long. It was very fun. When getting off the stool the piston kicks up so you get a swift nudge in your bootay to get you up and get moving!
Specs: The seat heights adjusts from 24.5"-33.5" (less padding which is irrelevant). My counter top is 45.5" and I had a hard time finding a stool that height that didn't cost a bazillion dollars. At max height, these fit perfect. All the chrome is metal, except for the little ring at the base of the piston and the tip of the handle. They are plastic chrome. There is some pitting and rough bits on some of the metal chrome, but nothing too serious. I took off the ring at the base of the piston because it looked tacky and serves no purpose (I will update if it has a safety feature or something and I wind up crashing to the floor one night). The vinyl is embossed fake leather. I am telling everyone it's imported ostrich. It does have a chemically smell and there is a disturbing sticker underneath the seat that says something about formaldehyde. I'm sure it's safe.
Overall: For the price, these stools are what you want. You wouldn't be looking at them if you weren't cheap and chic. Buy them. Just don't let fat people sit on them. Oh, and remove the sneath!!
UPDATE-05/26/12: Wow, I've had these stools for over a year. Who knew they would last this long! I get many comments on them on how cool they look, that's for sure. No one bought that they're imported ostrich though...So how have they been? Well, no one has fallen from the dizzying height and none of my heftier friends have broken them. I did not grow an extra toe from the chemical smell (which was gone the next day btw). The bases have scratched a little (from my rough bachelor cleaning techniques no doubt). But overall these guys actually look like new. If it were not for the fact that the padding is indeed some sort of concrete foam I would not be shopping for new ones. But alas the time has come for the sake of my butt and for the butts of all my friends to invest in a proper set. If I can find another 33" seat height that is....
We got this for our new store and we were very happy with the deal. They were setup in about 5 minutes, you even get the necessary tools to assemble. The most important piece of the stool is the adjustable piston, and I found it of very good quality. About a month of use and everything looks good.

I purchased 8 of these barstools for my kitchen and bar.We remodeled our entire house and they were in storage for longer than expected.Four of the eight are completely broken and had to be thrown away.I did not receive a refund due to the length of time we had in storage (several months).We are not large people ( I am 125 pounds), but the post breaks lose and goes right through the base.These should not be sold anywhere.

Very stylish, easy to assemble, and affordable!I have to agree that they aren't extremely comfortable --something about the backrest height or angle is not ergonomic. And you have to have shoes or slippers on or the footrests are uncomfortable on the soles of your feet. But for the price, they exceeded my expectations and are a welcome replacement for my under-ten-dollars Walmart wooden stools.

Great value and good stool, but make sure you read the "reviews" regarding putting this chair together. It has a plastic cap on the pole that holds the seat portion up and if you don't pull that off the chair won't rise to full height.My husband put 2 chairs together, and we had that exact problem.I went on amazon and read the reviews and realized that we had left the cap on ( the directions to put the chair together are the worst, it doesn't even say to remove the cap) once we fixed that the stools rose up
Other than that my only problem is that they can tip with younger children climbing up on them at the highest height, but that only happen once and the kids got the hang of it.
Overall we love the chairs.They have that modernfeel but not over the top contemporary.They add real style to our transitional type decor.

It's a good combo to have the red, yellow, black birds from the KOW game plus the white and blue (and additional black and yellow) from the Mega Smash game.My son loves this set better than the other ones because of the molded pigs.In the other sets, the pigs are smaller and have stickers for faces.These pigs are larger (better for little hands) and have molded detailed faces.He loves building the structures by looking at the cards and then of course launching the birds in order shown on the card.He also uses his Melissa and Doug blocks to make custom structures to knock down.I definitely have fun playing with him, it's a fun family game and I love that it is a board game and turns off the iPod or kindle.Fun for sure, and our favorite set in combo with the KOW set!!!
