Front Porch Classics Generic Circa Baseball Desktop Game

I ordered this because I liked the look, and thought it would be a neat addition to my game collection. To my delight, it also turns out to be great fun!It is basically a pinball style game, but even without the electronics and all, it is a joy to play.Have a friend who wants to play? It's easy to follow basic baseball rules and play through nine innings.Swing the bat to get a single, double, triple, home run, or even get out!Much like real baseball, you'll have to work to get some points on the board. As an added bonus, this game is easy to assemble and beautiful to behold. It stays out nicely, as a decorative piece for your game room or as an addition to any sports memorabilia collection.I'm not even a sports fan, and I love this game. It's a good return to simple fun, with value added craftsmanship.

This toy seems to be the "economical version" of the Old Century Baseball Tabletop Games made by the same company.Instead of 3 ramps, this game only has 1.It is also much smaller.Overall, my 8 year old and 11 year old really like it and play with it from time to time.It doesn't hold their attention as long as a nintendo DS (what does?), but they'll bang around on it for a good 15-20 minutes a few times a week.I like it because the price was right and it's not plastic. It really is wood.It sounds funny, but it just feels good to play this game.Additionally, the unit is built very well and is proably more durable than one might expect. They didn't scrimp on manufacturing this unit and I would expect their other games are the same.

I got this game for my 6-year-old son in my parents' name for Christmas 2005, and it was his favorite toy. He loves baseball, and of course pinball carries its own intrinsic interest and sense of fun. He's especially interested in it if I play with him, so there's a definite positive social aspect to the game as well. Additionally, the game's wooden and metal components are well made and, within reason, this is a durable toy.

Our 6-year-old son just loves this game!It was super easy to assemble, easy to learn how to play, and the games go by fairly quickly and are exciting.Plus it doesn't make all those noises that almost all the new, electronic toys make.It seems pretty durable and well-made and we're very happy with what we got for the price.

My 10-year-old son loved this game while it lasted.Overall, I would have rated it 5 stars except it lasted about three months. After that, the skimpy assembly that holds the plunger together (the metal rod that launches the ball into the game) fell apart and a tiny metal screw was lost.I contacted University Games to inquire about replacement parts.Their super-friendly and helpful customer service department told me they don't have parts, and promised instead to replace the game. However, three months later we have never received a replacement game, repairs parts, or any other resolution.

Given this experience, I cannot say I would recommend this product to anyone else, nor would I really be inclined to buy another product from University Games.

Don't say I didn't warn ya .......

UPDATE: In all fairness, University Games did finally replace this game with a new one, free of charge. No problems with the new one .... yet.

This lamp is perfect for my soon to be baby girl's nursery. The pleats are so cute on the bottom. The white base is nice could use an extra coat of paint. The shade clamp screwed on and cracked a little from the metal bulb holder. Still holds the shade in place though. For the price there could be a few improvements but I am overall pleased with it.

This lamp is so cute, but the splotchy paint job on the base and visible creases in the shade warranted a return.

Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Starter Set

As one of the previous reviewers pointed out, there is a large single sided, black and white dungeon tiles fold out;like a folded square poster. It's bland and generic IMO but it is extremely useful; if they only included two! or three, or four..Very useful since u can 'decorate' them according to your party's visual range.

Furthermore, the included terrain tiles(postcard quality) are also single sided, exactly 5X8, and all have different settings. You can't really play on them as they are so small/limited.They serve as a visual aid.

You get 12 miniatures w/ corresponding stat cards(normal)

The rundown, out of the entire collection, 30% ~ 40% stand for 'player' characters; humanoid NPCs, etc.So u might end up with 4 'player' characters like me; it depends on what you're hoping for.The Good!!Large Miniatures(2X2).The Bad, you'll always get the bear; a wolf would've been much better.

For those of you looking to buy your first set, i would recommend the Basic Set(not this one) as you get more, non-randomized, miniatures, solid/set-in coloured tiles, and THE set of dice(expensive if bought seperately; generic ones too).

I have to say I was very impressed with these miniatures. They are highly detailed, durable, artistic and colorful. I like the fact that lead is no longer used in minatues, as it is poisonous and not very durable. These plastic figures are fully and beautifully colored, so no painting is required! Each set is different, containing (sort of like collector cards) common, uncommon and rare figures. A collectors list is included. My set had a dozen figures, including three uncommon and one rare figure. Most of the figures in my set were fighter-types, but it did also contain several monsters.

The box set also contains a full sized play map, which is a grid of stone (pictures) which resembles a dungeon floor. It is about two feet by three feet, and can be used for dungeon combat. Six cards are also included with dungeon settings and walls, do add a little more detail to your battles.

Also included are stat cards, with statistics for all the figures. I'm not going to use these, but they could be fun.

Buy Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Starter Set Now

I give this three stars because of the packaging isn't as good as the packaging for the previously Entry Pack. Also, the stat cards for these minis are easier to read and the quality is okay. The rulebook is a must have because it has the updates to the Miniatures Handbook.I haven't played the game yet but it looks easy to play.

Aurora Plush 10" Mooty Puppet

This is a nice puppet and it's good for when I am playing with my kids, but it's way too big for a toddler's hand. The puppet's mouth isn't just fabric; there is a stiffer piece on the top & bottom of the mouth for your hands to grip when opening and closing the mouth. A toddler or even a child a little older than a toddler would have a difficult time with this. The puppet is also very top heavy. The head has a lot of stuffing, like a true stuffed animal. Like I said, it's fun for when an adult is playing with the kids, but if you are looking for something for kids to use by themselves this might be more frustrating than anything else.

Very soft and durable. My toddler LOVES "moo cow" and sleeps with him at night and plays with the puppet during the day. We will be getting more!

Dollhouse Miniature Antique Pool Table Set

Every now and then I create shadow boxes or diaramas as gifts. This was used in a diarama for my daddy. He plays pool and is actually good at it.The diarama came out great and he loved the pool table

I am giving it a 4 star review just because of the higher price. Don't get me wrong thou, I will definitely buy these balls again, they are noticeable more stable than Stiga's 3 stars which are the other balls I play with.

Very high quality balls

Good bouncing ability. Lasts more than other balls Ive tried. What can I say more, its approved by ITTF.

Safari Table and Animal Chairs by Anatex

This set is very cute but you should know it is WAY smaller than expected. (I will try to add a picture so you can see.) It is so small that I think it makes more of a decoration that a usable table set for children. Also mine came damaged but I couldn't return it because I didn't realize it until I assembled one chair and the screws stripped really easily so I couldn't disassemble it (Incidentally it didn't fully screw in either because it stripped before it was in). Also assembly is difficult because it requires allen wrench instead of screwdrivers. If I had to do it again I wouldn't buy this.

Our two oldest girls (3.5 y/o and 2 y/o) loves this table/chair set!The chairs are fun to sit on and carry around the house to use for numerous purposes. This table is very cute and so far seems quite sturdy!

A solid, sturdy, and attractive set for any toddler...playdates are definitely more fun as boys and girls alike relish the animal chairs, and the animals on the table.

My daughter who is turning 2 wakes up every morning since we gave it to her and immediately goes to color on her "animal table."She is usually there for about 45 minutes! No other toys come close to getting that much consecutive attention.Highly recommended!!

I bought this table/chairs for my 2 year old grandson.I was very pleased with it.Assembly is straight forwared. With minor exception, all components are tight and solid. I had to do some extra tightening to the pieces under the tabletop but overall this is a very solid table and chairs. It is adorabe. My grandson loves it. Pay attention to the measurement size. This is not for older kids but for small children 2 years to maybe 5.

Don't Quote Me Board Game

It is a good game that all can play. My entire family sat down and enjoyed playing it, whether just the quote cards or with the board. However, the older you are the bigger advantage you will have. My brother, who is 15, only knew the most famous quotes because he had never even heard of some of the other quotes. My father had heard most of them and was able to rattle them off with ease. Like I said, with age comes advantage. So, while it is a good family game, the older you get the better you'll be.

It took master's degree to figure out the instructions.Even then the process of the game was so cumbersome, we shortened the game, and have not played it again.I bought it because it was by the same makers of another game I enjoy, but was disappointed.

All the King's Men Chess Style Game Vintage

Bought this game in the '80s and loved and lost it.Now I have it again. The gametook real strategy because you really had to pay attention to the placement of your men because your man's movement is determined by the arrows on the squares.GREAT game.

I remember playing this game with my father as a kid. such a great fun game. its not hard to learn and it can be challenging as well.

My sons both enjoyed this game so much when they were young and my husband and I appreciated that it taught them skills that were precursors to more complex games, such as chess, checkers, etc.It is complex enough that we were also tested when we played with them. Now being at the grandparent stage of life, we are enjoying playing it with the granddaughters. It's a grand way to pass the time and note the emerging thinking processes of these wonderful and smart young ladies. We only wish that Parkers Brothers would put this game back into production. We still have the parts from our original game, but the box has fallen apart* and one of the knights has broken off from his base.We ordered a vintage version and now enjoy hosting All the Kings Men tournaments on our porch.

*Packaging the game in a sturdier box would be a great improvement.

Kidkraft Deluxe Track N Train Pack 55 Piece Set - 5 Different Layout

I didn't get this off of Amazon in fact, at the time of this writing (Nov. 2010) if you have a Costco membership, I would recommend purchasing it there for( shipped from their website). We got a Thomas starter set for about the same price for our son's 3 year old birthday, but wanted more track. This set definitely has a lot of track I think the track pieces work fine with the Thomas Track and train pieces we have, but the Thomas pieces look a little better made. What I like about this set is that because of all the different track pieces, bridge setups, and pieces that make train sounds, there is a lot of flexibility for creative layouts. That said, some of the pieces make really sharp turns, so some of the initial designs we made had our trains falling off the tracks, and frustrating out 3 year-old quite a bit.As he gets older, I think it will be a good lesson in train mechanics and figuring out why certain setups work and certain ones don't.I still think it was a good purchase for its value even though I think that the Thomas pieces are higher quality, the fact that a set of Thomas tracks of this size would cost 4x as much makes this set a winner in my book.

The great thing about the Kid Kraft train sets is that you can use your own imagination to extend an existing set. While there are some tracks you can build using this set it gets much more fun once you combine this set with one or more others to build many different sets.

There are three pieces in this set that do have a battery to make train noises, but when these run out the set can be used as well. The kids really like the noises!

Buy Kidkraft Deluxe Track N Train Pack 55 Piece Set - 5 Different Layout Now

I just bought this train set for my 4 y/o son for Christmas and it's great! I didn't get this one on Amazon, I bought it at Costco (in Mexico, no less) for roughly $50. I had a train set just like this when I was a boy and wanted him to have something similar and this set lives up to that. The track itself is super nice and quite large. This toy I'm sure could take a good beating without any problems. It also comes with a booklet with several different track layouts you can build, which has been really useful to me and has helped me set-up all kinds of cool different layouts for my son to play with. My only real gripe is with the train it comes with. The train cars are kind of long and the wheels rotate and it just doesn't work all that great b/c the cars don't stick together very well and they fall off the track too often. Using them individually works pretty well, though. I also bought a die-cast metal Thomas train to go with my sons gift, but that train is a tad too small and doesn't fit on the tracks right, so I must've gotten the wrong Thomas series (maybe he was meant for the plastic track..). Anyway, it says on the box that this track is compatible with the Brio stuff (and is WAY cheaper from what I'm seeing here on Amazon), so I will probably just buy a couple of train pieces for my son to replace the train it came with. Other than that, the track is great and I feel like I got a really good deal. Just building different layouts is a lot of fun!

Sandtastik White Play Sand; 25 Lb. Box; no. SND025

I contacted Sandtastik Inc. and they confirmed it is free of asbestiform tremolite as questioned by another reviewer. This is the safest sand available.Sandtastik White Play Sand has the ACMI AP non toxic seal and has ASTM D4236 certification meaning it has gone through rigorous testing to make sure it is completely safe. This sand is NATURAL sand, unlike most quartz mined man-made play sands.Molds well when wet.PERFECT, SAFE solution for children's sand tables. Not to mention it looks beautiful! The only drawback is the price not to practical to fill an entire 200lb sand box with it and I won't allow my kids to put water in the sand/water table since they'll turn it into mud and it will have to be replaced often.I don't want to have to replace it often at this price!I do highly recommend it though My children's safety is worth the extra cost.

Great clean safe sand.No silica.Works great for decorations and art projects or as play sand.Very soft feeling. Not coarse like regular sand.Molds great when damp.Pricey compared to normal sand, but worth it in my opinion.

we got a sandbox and went to buy sand for it. Suddenly we were made aware the "play" sand is not safe because of silica and scratching of the eyes. We went to the sandtastic webpage and looked at their store locator. I love this sand. It is so soft and fine. When you get it wet it packs nicely but does take a very long time to dry. By long time I mean DAYS. Also, because it is so fine it blows easily, so you don't want to be playing with it on a windy day.
